Embed link in a upk

Is it possible to embed a link to a website in a frame? A user would like to be able to access documentation like manuals from a UPK.
Thn
Thank you,

Hi,
Yes, it is possible - this is how I did it (not sure if this is exactly what you want):
1. Open the topic containing the frame(s) that you wish to add external links to
2. Navigate to the frame within the topic that you want to add the URL to
3. Click on View --> Panes --> Frame Link
4. You should see the Frame Link pane open below your frames
5. Select the first line, and click on the "Create Link" button on the top of the Frame Link pane (icon looks like a chain link)
6. Select either "Document in Library" or "URL" (URL can be any URL that you manually specify - I linked my frame to Google for test purposes)
7. Select OK
8. Select an Icon that you wish to use for your link
9. Your bubble text at the step where you included the link, should now show the icon that you selected for your link
10. Save your topic and close
11. View in Try It! mode
12. You should see your icon and will be able to navigate to your specified URL (It should open a secondary page)
Hope that helps!

Greig

    I have a Excel file which has lots of PDFs embed as a link.  When i converting to PDF the embed links are not working. Please help to solve this issue.

    This forum is about the SDK, the Software Development Kit, for Acrobat. If you're just asking about converting an Excel file to PDF and maintaining the links then you should try one of the other Acrobat forums, like this one: Creating, Editing & Exporting PDFs

  • Can I embed links to products for sale in iBook?

    When I publish an iBook, can I embed links to related products for sale on my website?

    If it's just an odd picture you are doing you can use File - File Info
    You can also create a template in Bridge, this could also be applied via File-File Info in Photoshop, manually or you could create an action to do it.

  • Embed links in video

    I would like to embed links to other website locations within the video.  If this is possible, how can I do it?
    The scenario is that when a person is watching a particular video, links would appear on the screen that would take them to more specific details concerning unique items seen in the video.  I would like these links to open in another screen, and cause the "home base" video to "pause" while the viewer is accessing or viewing more detailed information on the freshly launched new screen.
    Any ideas folks??
    Thanks.

    IS THERE ANY WAY TO EMBED LINKS INTO THE FILE YOU ARE WORKING ON?

    Ha! Perfectly classic case of XY problem! Pointed out by Jongware in some other thread recently - couldn't find an exact link right now...
    In short:
        User wants to do X.
        User doesn't know how to do X, but thinks he can fumble his way to a solution if he can just manage to do Y.
        User doesn't know how to do Y either.
        User asks for help with Y.
        Others try to help user with Y, but are confused because Y seems like a strange problem to want to solve.
        After much interaction and wasted time, it finally becomes clear that the user really wants help with X, and that Y wasn't even a suitable solution for X.
    Maybe it worth to add to a list of tips and best practices of the forum:
    Avoid XY problem!

  • Pages '09: Can't Embed Link to Map in PDF

    I'm really stumped. Links to web pages that I embed in my Pages publishing docs operate as expected when I export the document to PDF. However, I'm having no success with links to Google, Mapquest or Yahoo maps. The links are live in Pages, but are dead once I export to PDF. The link text shows up blue and underlined in the PDF, but it's just static text. This is the case whether I open the PDF in Adobe Reader or Preview in MacOS, or in Adobe Acrobat Pro X in Windows XP. This is also happening on two different Macs. Again, the problem is only with links to map locations. Any ideas?

    I just repeated the steps that I had shared with you and achieved the same desired result: a PDF with a working map link. Here are the steps I just applied in outline form:
    In Pages '09 4.2, create the standalone text or text box content, that is to receive the hyperlink. If textbox, click outside the textbox to set the box in Pages. If you don't do this, applying a hyperlink to the enclosed text, and saving as a PDF will result in that text not appearing in your PDF.
    In your web browser (I used Safari 6.0.2), visit the map site of your choice; key in the location in the search window, and then double-click at least twice on the map to generate data in the map URL.
    Choose the link/embed button on the map page. Ensure the URL or tiny URL is selected. Copy it to the clipboard with either Edit > Copy, or Command+C. Perform no other clipboard activity until all steps are complete.
    In Pages, double-click the word you want to apply the hyperlink too. If it is multiple words, double-click the first word, hold the shift key down, hover the i-beam mouse pointer over the end of the last word, and click once. Your hyperlink target is now selected. Do not click within the Pages document.
    Again, in Pages, Insert > Hyperlink > Webpage.
    Enable hyperlink is selected.
    Triple-click the default Apple link to select it.
    Paste the map hyperlink from the clipboard using Edit > Paste, or Command+V.
    Press return to set the hyperlink to your selected text.
    Save your Pages document and Export the PDF.
    I have walked through this list and was able to recreate one, or multiple map links in the same document, that survived into the PDF file. Both Preview and Adobe Reader XI received active map links that worked.
    Hopefully, you will have better success with these steps and avert the Acrobat Pro route.

  • Someone please help. Flash embed links not working in sidebar.php

    I followed this example over at workdpress.org and finally got Flash working in my sidebar at http://guntherportfolio.com
    (see http://wordpress.org/support/topic/234656?replies=3#post-1030341)
    However, it works with Firefox but not IE7 or Chrome. I tried a number of WordPress plugins but none worked. Is there something wrong with my code:
    <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" id="someID" width="125" height="125">

    <param name="bgcolor" value="#000000">
    <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always">
    <param name="allowFullScreen" value="false">
    <param name="name" value="someValue">
    <param name="wmode" value="transparent">
    <!--[if !IE]>-->
    <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://guntherportfolio.com/wp-content/themes/gunther/img/EuPDbanner_small.swf " width="125" height="125">
    <!--<![endif]-->
    <img src="preview.gif" alt="Preview">
    <p>Download the flash player</p>
    <!--[if !IE]>-->
    <param name="bgcolor" value="#000000">

    <param name="allowFullScreen" value="false">
    <param name="name" value="someValue">
    </object>
    <!--<![endif]-->
    </object>

    publish your swf's html and use the tags and javascript in that html to embed your swf in another html page.  or use swfobject.

  • Temporarily embed linked photos in catalog (collection)

    I use LR3 on two machines, my mac pro desktop and macbook pro laptop. I primarily use the laptop on shoots, to capture, annotate, etc., while the desktop in the studio is for serious editing because not only is it much faster, but it has lots of attached SATA drives. I have a master catalog which I sync between the machines via chronosync which works great. I can see all the photo previews on my laptop which is convenient and when I use the catalog on my desktop, I can do all that plus edit them. Anyway, what I'd love to be able to do is temporarily embed the master files in my catalog. Copy the catalog and previews to my laptop and continue editing them at home. Then when I copy the catalog back to my desktop, I'd like to move the embedded files back to their original locations, which are often scattered across different drives and folders. I know I LR3 let's me export a collection or catalog and all its associated files to a location of my choosing. But there is no way to put the files back where I'd ultimately like them to be stored without manually keeping track of the original file locations.

    Peter Spier wrote:
    OK, good point. And anchored images can't be on a different layer, so the problem becomes a lot more complex -- right up your alley.
    Y-e-e-e-e-h well, maybe "no". You cannot move an inline image to another layer, so what one could do is to copy the image to the image layer instead and delete the image--but not its frame!--from the original position. There is a *huge* drawback, though, to this method: if the text reflows, the now-empty 'placeholder' frame will move along with the text but the copy containing the actual image will stay on its place. It kind of defeats the idea of having a single editable document for both purposes.
    I suggest opening a copy of the document, then running this little Javascript:
    var images = app.activeDocument.allGraphics;
    for(var i=0;i<images.length;i++)
        images[i].remove();
    which will remove all images without touching their frames. Export the document to PDF and then throw it away -- there is no good reason to save this copy somewhere, as you should always be working with the original file. Saving the emptied-out file somewhere will inevitably lead to confusion and errors.

  • [IDS3 JAVA] Saving an embed link into a file

    Hello,
    I have a rectangle that contains a link - this link is embeded, and the source file is not available from the server. Is there a way to save this linked document into a file or to have the array of "byte[]" 5for example) of the data of the linked file ?
    I take any other solutions ...

    My mistake.... the unembed function take a folder as parameter... so I can unembed a file even if the link doesn't exist.

  • What is the best way to Place/Embed/Link swf files to play in my Muse website?

    I have some older swf files that I created and would love to have them play on my webpage in my Muse website. As soon as I use the place command to put them on a page, Muse crashes when I try and preview that page or publish the site. I'm new to Muse so maybe I should be using an alternate method of bringing those swf files in.
    Also, I would like to use some of the Reallusion programs to create a "talking head" that introduces my website when visitors enter. But Crazy Talk 7 only seems to want to create avi files. What is the best way to get avi's to play in Muse? I have posted this question in the Flash forum also.
    Is there a program in the Creative Suite package that would be better to use to create this talking head or a workflow that will make these videos usable on the pages of Muse?

  • Utilizing Multimedia Links - Links to Media Using Adobe Acrobat 9

    Embedding multimedia such as videos makes PDFs too large to e-mail and large to store, and each distributed PDF has to contain the video instead of the video residing in just a single location. I wanted to know whether one can embed links in the PDF to a free website such as the Acrobat.com website to store the actual video file on this site and have PDFs access the video(s)? I was thinking that since Acrobat.com allows a certain limit of storage, this seemed like a slick way to include video without dealing with large PDF sizes. I saw this done in several of the example PDFs on Adobe's website; but all the linked sites were other than Acrobat.com.
    I checked the Acrobat.com forum and it appears that my request is not possible because video files are restricted and can not be uploaded and shared on the Acrobat website. Their list of restricted video formats include MOV, WMV, FLV, XVID, DIVX, and RETG. Apparently Acrobat.com once allowed SWF format; but it was blocked because of security concerns.
    Is there a location for a non-professional to safely store multimedia files such as videos where the website and be linked to a PDF and the PDF execute the multivideo link, like in the examples shown for Abobe Acrobat 9?
    Aside from a place to store files and link to them, what video formats work best? I have a SONY video camcorder (MPG format) and want to just put several files on a website and then produce PDFs with the links to access these files to play within the PDFs. Are there some tips located somewhere on how best to link videos to a website that hosts the videos?
    Thanks in advance,

    After trying out various options suggested in this forum, I have found another solution for Word TOC links in PDF.
    My environment is as follows:
    Windows Vista
    Acrobat 9.0
    Word 2007
    Solution:
    Open the Word document.
    Place the mouse cursor at the beginning of the TOC field.
    Right-click and choose Edit Field from the shortcut menu.
    Click Table of Contents to open the Table of Contents dialog.
    Select the Show page numbers checkbox.
    Select the Use hyperlinks instead of page numbers checkbox.
    Note: While the preview on the dialog removes the page numbers, they are not removed from your TOC page.
    Click OK.
    In the Word document, hover your mouse over a TOC entry. You will notice that the entire string (and not just the page number) is now hyperlinked.
    Generate the PDF and verify if the TOC links work.

  • How do I embed videos in Muse CC?

    Hi
    I searched for the answer to this question and read that if I click 'Insert HTML', paste the link and click OK, the video should appear. However, every time I do this the application quits.  I'm using a mac and I am trying to embed video from Vimeo.
    What I'd really like to do is have several videos in a slide show format.
    If anyone is able to give me some advice about why this might be happening / what I need to do, that would be great!
    Many Thanks

    CS as a marketing practice, its best to upload the videos to a secure website and embed links to the videos in the email.
    If however embedding the video is the only way, attaching them to mail is perhaps the way you want to do it. Let me know if this helps.

  • I want to display a url link in only one tab of the tabstrip in webdynpro ?

    I want to display a url link in only one tab of the tabstrip in webdynpro view?  How do we do this?

    so in that tab of the tabstrip use LinkToUrl UI
    The LinkToURL UI element is a hypertext link. When you choose this link, you are directed to a user-defined Web resource (URL).
    The LinkToUrl is used to exclusively to open URLs in a separate window. To leave the Web Dynpro application and display a new URL use an exit plug.
    1.in ur UI create  tabs as u desire
    2. In each TAB , add ViewContainer . ViewContainer you would be able to add inside tab.
    3. Now create as many views as you have created Tabs.
    4. Embed views into the corresponding ViewContainers , in ur first view embed link to URL
