Embed SWF in to Slide Presentation
I've started a Flash animation from a Slide Presenation
Template in Flash 8. I'm using it to share information prior to a
web conference. I'd like to embed a SWF game on the last slide so
the participants can play the game while they are waiting for the
conference to start. What is the best way to do that?

Dump your game into a container movieclip (if that's possible
- assuming you
have the source .fla file for the game) that you can then
drag onstage.

Starting a swf slide presentation at random slide
I have a swf slide presentation of 9 slides. I would like the
swf to start at the beginning of a randomly chosen slide. Any ideas
on how to do this? I saw some msgs here about starting at random
frames, but nothing pertaining to slides.
Thanks, JohnYou can import pictures into programs such as Photoshop and sharpen them or make other corrections but the results will depend on how much information remains in your photo. It is always better to work with the original image than to copy it out of a power point presentation. I am moving the discussion to the Photoshop forum in case you need more help.

Creating slide presentions with SWF & FLV Player
I downloaded this freeware to create slide presentations, but I just couldn't (read: don't know how to) even after playing around with it for sometime.
I wanted to do something like this: http://www.threadless.com/submission/213927/Sky_Thief
I have the template for the above, though--I just want to change the images.
Am I missing something here?
Has anyone tried this SWF & FLV Player?:

How to embed music in a keynote presentation
Hi, how can I embed music in a keynote presentation ? Also, is there a way that a keynote presentation gets in full screen mode automatically when being opened ?
You can have music play in the background by dragging an audio file into the soundtrack well of the Document > Audio Inspector. Note: this audio file will play across many slides and only one file can be used.
If you want music to play on a particular slide, drag the audio file directly to the slide and set it to start in the Build Inspector > Build In > Start Movie. Audio files placed on a slide will play in the order you specify in the Build Inspector, but will not play once the slide transitions to the next slide.
If you have music that you want to play on only a few slides and then different music on another group of slides, you will have to break the presentation into smaller parts and hyperlink from the end of one slide file to the beginning of the next. In each smaller presentation, add the audio to the Soundtrack well.
See your Keynote '09 User Guide for details on hyperlinks.
As to going to full screen on opening, go to the Document Inspector > Document and check "Automatically play upon open" -
Flash Slide Presentation Format vs Flash File
I mistakenly made a fairly robust animation (15 layers about 5 min long with sound) in a Flash Slide Presentation document. The entire animation sits in slide number 1 (no other slides in this doucument). I need to take this animation out of the Slide Presentation mode an put it into a regular flash file because other applications are reading the presentation holder slide and not reading the animation. Is there a way to get rid of the "Presentation (parent) holder slide or do I need to copy the whole thing to another document? If so how do I do that? Thanks in advance for your help,
shift-click and drag across all the frames of your animation to select all the frames, then right click and click copy. go to a new swf and right click on a frame and click paste.

Need Help - Inserting articulate engage swf in a published Presenter presentaiton.
Hello. I am having tremendous difficulty publishing articulate engage swf's in my adobe presenter presentation. I have done this before but for some reason i am having trouble now. When i publish my presentation locally, the output from presenter changes the name of my swf files to embedded_flash_... with a number at the end. My question is how can i tell what presenter has renamed the indidual swf files. I have to change the name of the content folder from engage to match so i need to know which slide has which swf. I have several swf files in the presentation and keeping track of them is quite difficult.
Is there a way to click on slide with a swf on it to determine what presenter has renamed it? Swf Properties or View shockwave object or something else?????
Thanks MikeHi Mike!
I actually ran into a problem similar to what you've written about here.
Here's a suggestion to try; you may experience weird / unexpected results, but it may be worth a try....and who knows, it could help!
Here goes:
Rather than using one quiz container for your content / course, what I'd like you to do is break up "non-contiguous" question slides into totally separate quiz containers. I think what you need to avoid is having any kind of flash interactions from Engage running between a set of question slides stemming from one quiz container.
So instead of having a question on slide 5, an Engage interaction on slide 6 and another question on slide 7.....I want you to try breaking that up so that it looks like this:
Question on slide 5 [from quiz container 1], Engage interaction, question on slide 7 [from quiz container 2]...and so on.
Here's the deal: I've personally seen instances where adding custom Flash animations between question slides have caused some interference with the functionality of question slides. Even though you're using a totally different product, Engage still employs code parameters that can cause some breakdowns as soon as you publish your Adobe Presenter content, and I think that's what's happening here. To be brutally honest, I don't have Engage, but I'd be willing to bet it's causing the same problems that I've encountered with Flash animations that I've tried to incorporate into my Presenter content.
So again, try breaking up the question slides into separate, independant quiz containers and see if that resolves the problem....I'd be curious to know if that works!

I'm interested in this, too. (Thanks for bringing up the
topic!) My
guess, however, is that you won't see a flood of feedback.
The timeline
metaphor is deeply engrained in the Flash developer mindset.
Building a
slide presentation-based movie (the relatively new "screens
feature") just
doesn't feel like working in Flash. I don't think many people
use
screens -- though maybe it's too early to tell. I could be
completely off
base, of course, and I welcome friendly dissenters.
I think Macromedia was hoping to appeal to the Visual Studio
crowd with
screens. I'm curious to see how Adobe continues the idea. In
any case, at
present, there's a kind of ActionScript mini-framework that
gets added to
screens-based SWFs. This framework is what allows screens to
behave like
screens rather than timelines. It is important to realize,
however, that
all SWFs are, in the end, SWFs. The screens metaphor is no
more "real" than
the timeline metaphor is. Both are just user interfaces to
translate our
human instructions into something the Flash Player can
understand.
I don't much care for the fact that this framework adds 27KB
to a SWF
before anything else is even added. Start a new Slideshow
Presentation and
immediately test the SWF (Control > Test Movie). In the
resulting Flash
Player window, select View > Bandwidth Profiler to see how
much the SWF
weighs. Do the same with a normal Flash document and compare
the two.
To answer your specific bullet points:
- Stability
I have no opinion here, I'm afraid. I simply haven't
produced enough
screens-based SWFs to make a fair assessment.
- Range
Not sure what you mean, here. Are you asking if
screens-based SWFs can
be bigger, hold more content?
- Limitations
The end result in either case is a SWF, and a SWF is what it
is.
- Preference
I prefer the timeline metaphor because I've been using it
since Flash 3.
I use Flash for everything from applications to cartoons to
video, so in my
workflow, timelines makes more sense.
- Experience
Very little experience with screens (because I don't care
for them).
Plenty of experience with Flash in general.
- Pros
I would imagine -- and I can only imagine -- that some
people prefer the
"slides" format. To me, it feels like PowerPoint, which I
don't much care
for.
- Cons
The aforementioned extra SWF weight. 27KB isn't a deal
breaker, and
it's certainly less bulky than any of the v2 UI Components,
but ehh. For
what that's worth, I think it's a con. My programming skills
have matured
along with the phenomenal advances in ActionScript in recent
years. I
crossed a milestone back in Flash MX, I think, where Flash's
under-the-hood
mechanisms really started "clicking" with me. (To be sure,
the learning
process never ever stops ... I'm *still* learning, and things
are *still*
clicking for me, but I digress.) To me, the screens metaphor
introduces a
new (in my opinion, unnecessary) layer of abstraction to a
lean-but-powerful
environment I already know and love.
- Accuracy
Not sure what you mean here.
- Problems
I don't use screens often enough.
- Errors
Ditto.
- Likes
This is reflected in my views on Pros and Cons.
- Dislikes
Ditto.
- Load Balancing
Again, not sure what you mean.
- Customization
Good question!
- Coding Development/Programming
None of the programming books I've read even touch screens.
- Control
Control of what?

Hello!
I have a very nice PPT that I created and I've tried everthing to bring the files in to get the best looking quality = not easy.
What I found to the be the best thing is to publish the PPT file to Presenter and then you have a .swf of each slide which looks really clear!
The problem is, I want to use those images as my slide layouts and then add a few Captivate things from there. Problem - the .swf files appear in the really small thumbnail view in the editing mode of Catpivate!! How can I view them in their actual size, like how you view a JPG or something in Captivate.
THANKS!!

Exporting SWF from InDesign for presentation
I've exported a swf file for a presentation that uses .flv files. When I open the file in flash it works fine unless I put it in full screen mode. Doing this makes the videos huge/zoomed in. I need to get this done for Monday and I can't work out what I've done wrong. Only a few of the slides have a video on. The others with just a static image work perfectly fine.
Thanks for you help in advanceThat´s unfortunate indesign "feature" which is quite hard to work-around.
Check this FAQ, Bugs&Fixes section / FullScreen view does not work properly if videos have been used:

It´s made for eDocker users but I think you may use it also without eDocker, with SWF files exported from InDesign -
Captivate SWF Quality Poor in Presenter 7.0
Hi,
My company recently purchased Presenter 6 to run on
PowerPoint 2003, which was great - we were able to produce some
really high quality content by incorporating screenshots, clip-art,
Flash animations and Captivate movies.
Then the dreaded upgrades began. We move to PowerPoint 2007
and were forced to upgrade to Presenter 7.0, which at the time
didn't seem like a big deal. However, since upgrading I've noticed
that graphics and in particular Captivate SWFs displayed in the
Presenter output are of a pretty low quality. I've set the image
setting to High in Presenter but it makes no difference.
I'm pretty sure it's not Captivate because the SWF output
looks perfectly good if played on its own directly in a web
browser.
Has anybody out there noticed this with Presenter 7 and if
so, have you got any idea why it happens and what I can do to fix
it?
Thanks,
Alex SamsonThere is no reason that Captivate swf that played fine on
Presenter6/PowerPoint2003 should show up in degraded quality in
Presenter7/PowerPoint2007.
The image quality settings won't change anything in the
Captivate swf.
My best guess would be that the Captivate swf contains some
screenshots and the size of the flash object inserted into the
slide is not letting flash player draw the image properly.
Try adjusting the size of the flash object that gets inserted
into the slide to be same as how it appeared in
P6/Office2003. -
Flash 8 Slide Presentation preloader problem
have made this external preloader to load my 2mb .swf, and it
works but when u click on a button the wipe go across the screen
but it doesnt change the page as you can see this on this link
below
http://www.nwmsltd.com/webtest/preloader.html
but its supose to look like this example( if you clicked on
the installs button a 3d amimated wipe will go across the screen
then it will jump to the Installs page)
http://www.nwmsltd.com/webtest/kidpower_Web.swf
and i dont know why
im using the flash 8 Slide presentation template as its
perfect for what im achive easy to and works fine with out the
external preloader but if i use the external preloader it stop the
buttons working by stoping them going to the next page
the code that tells flash to goto the correct slide is in the
movie clip where the image sequance of the wipe is and at the end
of the image sequance i have an action layer which is as follows
// GoTo Screen behavior
if((_root.application.Installs != undefined) &&
(_root.application.Installs != null))
var screen = null;
var target = this;
while((screen == null) && (target != undefined)
&& (target != null))
if(target instanceof mx.screens.Screen)
screen = target;
else
target = target._parent;
if(screen instanceof mx.screens.Slide)
screen.gotoSlide(_root.application.Installs);
// End GoTo Screen behavior
and my external preloader code is as follows
var mcl:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader();
var mclL:Object = new Object();
mclL.onLoadProgress = function(target, loaded,total) {
loader.percent.text = Math.round((loaded/total) * 100) +
mclL.onLoadInit = function () {
loader._visible = false;
loader.percent.text = "";
mcl.addListener(mclL);
mcl.loadClip("kidpower_Web.swf",holder);
b1.onRelease = function() {
loader._visible = true;
mcl.loadClip("kidpower_Web.swf",holder);
b2.onRelease = function() {
loader._visible = true;
mcl.loadClip("2_Web.swf",holder);
Thanks Martinany one please?

Actionscript / swf integration with Adobe Presenter
I need to do some Actionscript / swf integration with Adobe Presenter content.
Is there any way to access information about current slide nr., total number of slides and "end of presentation" information from swf(Actionscript 3.0) inserted into Adobe Presenter?
I am using Adobe Presenter 8 with Adobe Connect 8.First, the best place is probably the Presenter forum, which somewhat curiously is under the Connect umbrella:
http://forums.adobe.com/community/connectpro/connectpro_presenter
Out of curiousity, why are you using AICC? Because the content is on a different domain?
To the point, it's great to have a logging or debugging tool for these sort of things to view the communication between the LMS and the lesson. Perhaps the lesson is sending the 'completed' status but also sending some other value that the LMS is using to change the status back to incomplete?
My first suggestion would be to try the lesson in a tool like TestTrack...but I don't think that handles AICC. Does the Saba LMS have any kind of debugger or logging tool you can use? You really need to see if the lesson is sending the status back to the LMS as you suspect it should. If it IS, then the issue lies with the LMS and how it's interpreting that result. If it's NOT, then you can then perhaps figure out what to adjust in the lesson.
In general, just play with the settings. If it's set to Complete/Incomplete and has a Mastery Score, try NOT setting the Mastery Score... And other such combinations.
I hope the folks in the Connect/Presenter forum can provide more insight.

How come querystring variables don't work with Flash Slide Presentations
How come querystring variables don't work with Flash Slide
Presentations
When I create a regular new Flash FLA and publish it I can
add a querystring to the file name in the object tag and get that
value back in the flash move like this:
myflashfile.swf?myname=andrew
But when I try the same thing using a new Flash Slide
Presentation with screen, it doesn't work.
Is there something I'm missing that I'm not aware of or does
the Flash Slide Presentation not support the use of querystrings?
I have tried this using a mix of PC and Mac with MX2004 Pro
and Flash 8 Pro.
Any reference links or ideas are much appreciated.
