Embedding photos to a forum

With my smugmug account, I can embed a photo onto forums by placing the url for the photo between [img] tags. I have tried that with my photos stored on my iweb site, but it won't work. Is there a way to do this?
Stefan

Is this the code you're using?
<*img src="http://homepage.mac.com/youraccountname/.Pictures/FILE"*>
The asterisks were added so the code would display. This would be for a image file located in the Pictures folder of the iDisk.
If the forum uses BBCode instead of HTML then the code would be:
{img}http://homepage.mac.com/youraccountname/.Pictures/FILE{/img}
The curley brackets were used instead of the [ ] brackets so the code would display.

How can I forward email with embedded photos so that the recipient gets them that way instead of all the text followed by all the photos?

    Hello,
Thanks (or merci beaucoup).  I am using Mail version 5.2 (1278) that came with the iMac (Mac OS X 10.7.4).  When I forward the email to myself at my "me.com" email address from my "cox.net" email address, the photos come out as attachments even though they were embedded when I received the email on my cox.net email.   What setting(s) can I make to have it get to me.com the way it was in cox.net, i.e. embedded instead of as attachments?

  • From iPhoto. I simply took a PDF and saved it to iPhoto as a photo and then sent it as an embedded "photo" that was my document. Since changing to Lion, I cannot do it this way. Help!

I used to send embedded documents rather than as an attachmentfrom iPhoto. I simply took a PDF and saved it to iPhoto as a photo and then sent it as an embedded "photo" that was my document. Since changing to Lion, I cannot do it this way. Help!

I found the solution on another post by user rbii:
You can add this using Automator:
    - Run automator, select File->New, chose Print Plugin
    - From the PDFs part of the library drag "Render PDF Pages as Images" to the workflow on the right, set resolution to 200.
    - From the Photos part of the library drag "Import Files into iPhoto" to the workflow section.
    - Save the workflow
That should get you back this feature."
Save the workflow as "Save PDF to iPhoto" and you'll get that option back on the list. Hope this helps!

  • How to send a photo to a forum full quality

    HI:
Pardon my lack of knowledge but I recently got back into photography and joined a few photo forums, I would like to post some pictures but I am told that I need a hosting service like pbase which has a fee.
I have a .Mac acount and use the iWeb and backup.
Does the .MAC have the ability to be a host for pictures.
I would like to show a picture within the forum reply and/or posting box. In other words what I am typing into right now.
The photo forums have the ability to show a photo with out having to click to a link.
An example of a WEB SITE would be:
    http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/forum.asp?forum=1030
The web name is digital photography review.
I asked how on the web site and they recommended pbase.com
I asked if they knew about Apple and could not get anybody to respond.
My last resort would be to set up a iWeb and direct them to it, two questions come to mind:
    (1) I remember reading that the iWeb pictures that are transfered from iPhoto lose quality . if true, would a transfer from PE 4 or nikon photo software be better quality or does everything get compressed.
    (2) can i direct them to a particular photo within the iWeb Folder ?
Sorry for the obvious lack of knowledge but I am still amazed what the digital cameras can do
    Greg
    thanks,

  • Address Book: Importing vcards with embedded photos

    Hi folks,
This question would perhaps be more at home in the Apple Developer Connection Forums, but as I can't access those without a paid ADC account, I thought I'd try here on the off chance someone knows.
In short, I'm writing an application that does clever things with vcards, and it would be great if it could export them to Address Book.
That in itself is simple, but I'd also like to embed a photograph in each vcard. So, I'm successfully encoding the image into a base64 string (tested), and other applications like Entourage will happily open and see the image, but Address Book won't.
After much Google-ing I've learned that apparently Address Book expects very specific formatting (and possibly whitespace) in and around the base64 string, which is all well and good, except no one seems to know what that formatting is!
I've looked in the ADC Reference Library but it doesn't go into enough detail.
So, is there anyone who happens to know how to format a base64 string for Address Book?
EDIT: I am aware that Address Book doesn't require the string to be wrapped, and I have tried not wrapping my base64 string and if I do that then my vcards will successfully import with their photos (Entourage seems happy with unwrapped strings too).
However, this is not an ideal solution as other vcard applications may not be so accepting, and I don't believe vcards can have multiple photo fields.

Thanks, but right now I can't afford the $500 I'd have to spend in order to buy the sufficient level of ADC membership to use the developer forums. I just thought I'd ask here on the off chance, as I know there are sometimes a few developers lurking around.
Having said that, after reading posts such as this: http://markmail.org/message/5dbslpeyhjcjxug4
I'm beginning to think there are only a handful of people who know the answer, so I may have to give up and use a work-around.

  • When uploading photos to Photobucket or Imgur or select forums either nothing happens at all or I get the "connection was reset" error. I have no problem uploading photos to other forums and FB. Firewall disabled, Spyware Doctor OFF, UAC off. Win 7-64.

I have cleared the cache and history on both IE and firefox. When I try to upload photos to Photobucket, I get "IOException" and when I try to upload photos to paleoplanet (yuku) I get the "The connection was reset" firefox error. I can upload photos to FB and other forums just fine. I tried to use Imgur instead of Photobucket and I get a similar failure.

    Hi Trond,
Extremely helpful observations here. Am sure quite some folks will hit this thread!

  • Embedding Swf into to forum signature

Hi, i have been trying to find this everywhere but no good.
How can i embed swf into forum Posts and signatures ? Its my site s
o i change settings etc.....is there some mod that should be
installed on the forum ? Any help at all would be really
    appreciated =)
    J

No. I mean that the Flex framework makes certain assumptions about the environment it is running in -- like having a stage to work with. The Alert function, for example, works by creating a sprite and adding it to the Flash display list. Since your embedded SWF is not on a stage, there's no way for it to work.
You can can possibly use certain non-visual parts of the framework, such as the rpc package, but I can't guarantee it.

  • Is there a size limit to embedded photos in Leopard Mail?

Whenever I paste a photo into an email using Mail, the size of the picture is reduced to a very small file. Using Entourage, the same paste embeds a photo of the size I intended.
Is there some setting to change the limit on size in Mail? or am I doing something else wrong?
    thanks
    Tom O'Connell

I have the same problem. I choose "original size" or "high quality" in the size window, but Mail/iPhoto still reduces the picture to a small file size to email it. (last pm from a 1 mb photo to about 90 kb).
Why does Mail reduce it despite my choosing a large file size?

  • Problem emailing embedded photos

I have been emailing photos with iPhoto for a year (since I bought my iMac) with no problems at all. Recently, when I try to email a photo, I select the size in iPhoto (e.g. Medium), Mail opens, the correct size photo flashes in the mail message and is immediately replaced by a mini thumbnail. The image size within Mail is set to Medium, but it's not working as the mini thumbnail is not Medium.
If I toggle the size setting within Mail to another size, then back to Medium, it seems to work; a medium-sized photo appears to be embedded in the mail message. However, when I tested this (sent the message to myself) the email I received only included the mini thumbnail again. (There was a separate attachment with the photo at the correct size.)
I get the same results as above when I attach the photo from within Mail.
Any ideas how to correct this?
P.S. My mail is set to compose in Rich text and should embed the photos (as it did for the past year). I suspect there is a bug in Mail due to a software update....

This was quite an interesting test. First of all, with regard to what you are assuming to be a size issue with the message sent directly through Mail, without any involvement of iPhoto, you must remember that when Mail utilizes View in Place, the image display in the message has nothing to do with the actual size of the image file. This is not any thumbnail, or preview, but simply Mail sizing the image display to your screen and Mail window.
On my G4 using Tiger and Mail 2.1.3, the displayed image looked very small, exactly like a thumbnail, but that is not the case. Apparently this is what you are also seeing with Mail 3.6 in 10.5.8, although I did not compare. However, on my Mac Pro, in Mail 4.2 in 10.6.3, the image ever so briefly had the same appearance, but quickly changed to fill the screen. Mail uses Preview as the render engine, and something is different in Mail 4.2 from what you must be seeing in Mail 3.6.
If you open either image from the message with, say Photoshop or Graphic converter, you will see that each image has the very same pixel dimensions. The only difference is in the JPEG compression that has been applied to each file, which makes the file size different, but not the original size of the photo as measured in pixels. Thus iPhoto is not downsizing the image as it would if using a setting other than Actual Size.
I am still investigating how the compression is selected in iPhoto that causes the difference in file size, and is behind the appearance when viewing in place in a message. It also appears to impact how Mail 2.1.3 was seeing the file, and the options offered when you control-click on the image. It is not the expected behavior. However, use of the Slideshow button in the message will show you the same size image in either case.
More when I found out more.

  • In forwarding emails w/embedded photos, etc, only blank box w/red "x" is sent

I used to be able to forward emails with photos, documents, etc. embedded in the email, just as it was sent to me. I am able to see it/them when it is sent to me, but when I forward it on to others the only thing that shows up in the email they receive is a blank box with a red "x" in it-recipient cannot see what's embedded in that box.

Sorry for the delay in following up.
I only use Gmail occasionally, so am not too familiar with potential issues in forwarding.
One thought: If you use any site-specific script blocking such as NoScript or K-9, make sure that you aren't blocking anything that could be associated with Gmail.

  • Embedding photos in email

Recently switched to mac pro from pc. Depending on the numbers I normally send photos embedded in the letter I'm emailing.

Sorry, my 12 mo old was in my lap and hit the keyboard. My original question should have read. Recently switch from pc to mac. For small numbers of photos I usually embed them in the email so that the recipient does not have to open an attachment. Especially good for those with few computer skills.
However, I don't seem to be able to enable photos in email except as a small icon with a link coming out of photo browser.
I must be missing something. Can someone please advise.
    thanks.

  • Saving out embedded photos

I work for a print shop, and a customer has sent me 6 or 7 emails with 200 photos between them. Problem is, they are not attachments, but they are embedded. It seems the only way to save them out is right click>save as picture, and name them. That's
not a big deal with a couple photos, but with 200 photos that could take hours. Any thoughts? I thought maybe there was a temp folder somewhere with all the photos in it, but in the one temp folder I could find I didn't see them.

  • Embedding videos on a forum for discussion

I would just like to know if I can embed a video on a forum (not a link to the video) with flash player.  If so how do I do it?

Most forums (like this one) use "embed code" to play videos from another source as opposed to actually hosting the video. This is a "double edged sword" for forum mods. Allowing users to put video directly in the forum is a big drain on bandwidth, especially with a forum the size of Adobe's, so they usually don't allow it. On the other hand, some sites aren't too happy with people embedding code on other sites that drains THEIR bandwidth.
YouTube is ok with it but Google is the largest entity on the web, so they can handle it.  Other video sites may block "hotlinking" to hosted vids.
The Flash Player itself doesn't have the ability to embed anything, as it's just a player.  Usually the "embed code" for sharing is added to the page for uploaded videos by the site administrator(s).
Depending on the forum, they will usually have a click to embed option (like here)
Some sites have a block on video embedding. Apple's support forums is a good example. You can embed pictures, but the video button is disabled.

  • How to stop mail app from embedding photos

How do I get the Mail App from embedding my photo attachments. I'm using Yahoo that was just migrated from a PC through Migration assistant

Thanks Linc, it took me a bit to figure out that within this link was a way to close the message viewer, which I've done for now.
I would still be interested to know if there is a way for the message viewer panel to be open and have mail NOT open the next message automatically.  I do like to have the message panal open.  But I am not sure why the default is to jump to the next message, or why we cannot have it sit at the last messge and allow us to choose when we are ready to read the next message.
For now, the link you sent does give me an option.
    Thank you!
