EMET 4.0 on Windows 7 in Virtual Machine

I installed EMET 4.0 on a Windows 7 VM (fully updated) and it has now for 30+ minutes been using 100% of the CPU. I have 4 GB RAM allocated out of the 12 GB installed on the host machine. Makes using Windows 7 untenable with all the CPU being ate up
by EMET...
By the way I turned off the A-V on the host and VM Win 7 machine also with no change.
Any suggestions or solutions or is running EMET on a virtual machine Windows workstation a no go?

Hi,
No, those cmdlets are only available on WS2012+ or W8+.

  • Installing cs4 in Windows 7 Virtual machine

    Hello,
I am having problems with AE and windows 7 64 bit. Ram preview isn't working / crashing AE I wanted to do a clean install on XP using Windows virtual machine. I unserstand it sounds stupid, but all I am trying to do is sync some effects to a soundtrack and it's not working and I am on a deadline.
Has anyone installed these, I get an install error, Contact Adobe Support. not very helpful.
    Thanks,.
    David

Yeah, but what do you expect? It's weekend and your scenario really isn't something people do every day. I would even guess that it's more of an issue with memory and keyboard handling settings in the VM rather than a flaw in the Adobe program. In any case, what's so bad about just installing CS4 in W7 itself or installing the CS5 trial? If you're on a deadline, it's certainly better to have some way of working and worrying about any side effects later than waiting for a solution to fall out of the sky...

  • Disconnecting WEB SSL VPN client windows 7 to remote windows 7 virtual machine

    Good morning,
my problem, common to other colleagues who use Windows machines 7 Professional is this:
I connect to WEB SSL VPN Cisco from Client Windows 7 Home Premium Explorer-9 to a virtual machine Windows 7 Professional using a specific professional audience and vpn user. I access the Terminal Services window (attached JPG) with a list of links to virtual machines.I connect to the virtual machine in Remote Desktop Full Screen mode and log in with the same user and password. For the connection is installed an add-type control ActiveX CISCO Portforwarder Control version 3.1.0.1, file name -> cscopf.ocx.
Problem: The session window once inside the virtual machine disappears and disconnect from the virtual machine back in the window of choice of Terminal services available. This always happens and there is no way to maintain a stable connection. With modality not FULL SCREEN, the session window would seem to remain stable but however is impossible to work in a small window.
This problem is raised after the update windows 7 to SP1 both Home premium and Professional. In fact before the update the connection is stable. The update to SP1 update the RDP client microsoft to version 6.1.7601.17154 from version 6.1.7600 but i do not know if this the cause of the problem.
Have you an update of CISCO active-x to fix the problem? I cancelled the file and download the last version but the problem remains.
Workaround: Use local virtual machine with xp or windos 2003 and access form this operating system but I consider absurd to use a local
virtual machine to access a service which should be directed
Note: This problem does not occur if the VPN session to the virtual machine Windows 7 is launched from a host machine running Vista Home Premium with RDP Client 6.0. My previous PC had this OS and I was working in an absolutely stable by performing the same type of connection.
Host Operating System: OS Name Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601
OS virtual machine accessed via ssl web vpn: OS Name Microsoft Windows 7 Professional Version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601
    Can you help?Thank you.

    No

The same problem here as well.
I am using a Win7 PC to connect to an Win Vista PC via SSLVPN. Once i logged into the remote PC, the session is disconnected.
Do we have any corrections from Cisco for the moment?

  • Deploying Windows 7 Virtual Machine

I am looking for some clarification regarding the deployment of windows 7 using virtual machines.
I have a 32 bit and 64 bit vm that are configured to our school districts guidelines. I will deploy these machines to several different Lenovo models.
My first question is: Can I perform a capture only with these machines, without sysprep, as no sid or other machine identifiers are used by the vm?
Second: Should I validate the license for each vm we have. If so, when sysprep is complete it will require the license to be validated again. I would be going through quite a few licenses.
I apologize if I am somewhat naieve, however, any advice offered would be appreciated.

    Hi,
Your first question: No, you need to maintain the sysprep and capture action. When your machine is initially being deployed to the VM, it has a SID generated. Not sysprepping now, means that your machine will not generate a new sid, after you have captured
and redeployed it. Thus you always need to sysprep.
Your second question: When building reference images no personal or company information is required, including product keys. The reason again is sysprep, and then especially the 'generalize' option of sysprep, which erases all personal settings from the
    machine.
So when you are going to deploy the recent captured image, the information will be used, which is stored in the Unattended.xml that is automatically created when you created the task sequence. (Remember the questions? - Admin Password, Company Information,
Registered User, Homepage) All this information is captured in the unattended.xml which you can find in the following folder:
    .\Deploymentshare\Control\<TaskSequenceID>
This way, when you are going to create your image, it's no use to include personal or company information, because it will be overwritten, when you are going to deploy that image, with the second deploy task sequence.
Lastly, you mention a 32 bit and 64 bit VM, while to my opinion you only need 1 64 bit VM. It is perfectly possible to install a 64 bit OS on a 64 bit machine, just as a 32 bit OS can be installed on a 64 bit machine, the other way around however isn't possible.
I usually have, use, 1 virtual machine to build all my images on. But ofcourse I can imagine it may depend on your own situation.
    Cheers!

  • Thoughts on installing CF 10 Beta into windows XP virtual Machine

    Hello everyone,
I've got a pretty easy questions for everyone. Like many people out there I'm wanting to try out some things in the 10 beta. However I only have one development computer that is currently running CF9. Since I only have the one system I wanted to see what people thought about installing CF10 into windows virtual machine (XP Mode). I figure that way I can have both running and not worry about one affecting the other.
Is there any known reason why this couldn't work?
    Thanks for your thoughts.

  • Virus help needed:  Parallels:  Windows XP virtual machine

I will preface my remarks by apologizing in advance for my lack of technical sophistication, inexperience with Windows, and experimental approach to providing tech support to myself. It just happens to be the case that I have infrequently needed to use computers in my work life, aside from operating cash registers equipped with POS systems; and have used Macs at home for my entire life as a computer user. (I only started using the internet about nine years ago, although I am 44 years old.)
Here is the background of my situation:
In Winter 2008, in anticipation of training for and entering into a new line of work, I purchased a MacBook3,1. Because the new line of work would regularly require me to use Windows-based applications, I purchased Parallels 3.0 at the same time that I purchased the MacBook.
I installed Parallels 3.0 from a disk, installed Windows XP, and set up a virtual machine. I used this VM for more than a year and a half without incident. A one-year certificate for Kapersky Internet Security was included with the purchase of Parallels. In the meantime, I upgraded to Parallels 4.0 in Winter 2009. The upgrade was accomplished via download, using the product key that I'd purchased.
At some point, my Kapersky certificate expired. I was unclear (though I am no longer) as to whether running Windows on Mac was any different - - i.e. more secure -- than running it on Mac. I made a mental note to look into the whole matter and avoided using the internet while working in the Windows VM.
At some point, however, I lapsed in my practice of avoiding using the internet while working in the Windows VM. I ended up with a virus, of course.
That said, I had (and have) a back-up of what I believe to be a pre-virus Windows VM. I used this back-up to add/create a new VM. I was prompted to back up the back-up before so doing; and was also prompted to update the new machine to Parallels 4.0. Which I did. The update to Parallels 4.0 took a long time.
In the interim, I had moved some working files from the infected VM (which themselves were infected, judging from all indications) into the Mac OS for temporary storage.
My memory of what I did and what happened next is imperfect. But here it is in gist and to the best of my recollection:
When I booted the new machine, I received a message to the effect that I should install Kapersky Internet Security -- although the certificate I'd purchased along with Parallels 3.0 had ostensibly expired. I installed Kapersky. Then I received a message that I needed to update Kapersky. Which I did. This, too, took a long time.
I then cloned the new machine.
I then rebooted the new machine and moved the infected files into it. I scanned the infected files for viruses and nothing showed. Then I opened one or more of them to see if things were operating satisfactorily. The virus, I soon discovered, was present in the new machine. At some point I also received a message to the effect that the Kapersky software itself had been altered? And subsequently received a message prompting me to accept or not accept a rule relevant to internet security/Kapersky. (I forget exactly what I did in response.)
I then booted the clone -- into which I had NOT moved the infected files. The virus eventually showed up there as well. I also received a message to the effect that Kapersky may not be up to date -- even though the VM was a clone of a machine that was ostensibly recently updated. AND I received the same massage prompting me to accept or not accept a rule relevant to internet security/Kapersky. Which I ignored.
I have since deleted the new machine and its clone. I have backed up onto CD my infected work files in case I may learn in the future of some way of disinfecting them.
What do I do from here? I am interning in my new line of work, and need to get Windows up and running ASAP for that reason. I still have the back-up of what I believe to be a pre-virus Windows XP VM.
Sorry to be so broad and so vague.
    Thanks for any feedback.

  • How to improve application scalabilty hosted in windows azure virtual machine

    Hi,
We are going to build and host an application in VM in azure environment where could receive a huge numeber of requests to the server(applicatio in IIS) . How can we handle the scalabilty of application . Is azure has
    any predefined supports ??
    With Regards,
    Selvam.M

Azure offer both internal and external load balancing capabilities.
It offers load balaning between virtual machines under the same load balance set.
    Check here
    http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/virtual-machines-load-balance/
You can create multiple Virtual machines hosting your IIS websites than use the service load balanced IP.
For the Virtual machines performances, you can benefit from the auto-scale Azure capabilities. Autoscale will automatically turn on virtual machines when some performance thresholds are crosses (Memory, CPU usage) and turn them off when it's calm again.
    Look here
    http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/cloud-services-how-to-scale/
Only Standard virtual machines offer these capabilities, Basic VMs do not

  • Visual Studio Ultimate 2013 can't connect to IIS Express 7.5 on Windows 7 Virtual Machine Using Parallels 6.0

Here is what I am using:
MacBook Pro - Version 10.7.5 with 128 GB SSD
    Parallels 6.0
    Windows 7 Home Premium
    Visual Studio 2013 Ultimate
IIS Express 7.5 download that changed it to IIS Express 8.0
I also have WebMatrix but I am not planning on using it.
I am a novice when it comes to development and these technologies so I am sure that has some impact on my issues.
I have spent a lot of time looking between the various forums to find a solution and they all seem to offer parts but not an entire and workable solution to solve the two errors that I receive when starting a new project and/or web site:
    1-
Configuring IIS Express Failed with the following error:
    Filename: redirection.config
    Error: Cannot read configuration file
    2-
Unspecified Error Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004005 (E_FAIL))
Based on the research I believe it has something to do where the IIS Express files are located on the Mac side of the computer.  I have tried to map them back to the Windows machine but I still get the same errors.
I understand it should be looking in the documents folder on the C Driver for the user, which is Administrator.  I have tried to redirect, open the port, change the Firewall settings to no avail.  I believe it is something very simple
but I am not seeing it.  I did turn on the Windows Features for IIS and removed the read only check box for the IIS Folder.
I have looked at the binding and port settings but cannot figure out how to make changes there.  I think I need to remove local host and replace it with my computer name.  I did try this but it didn't work.  Here are the defaults:
Please let me know what you think and share a possible solution.  Remember that I am a novice and some things will go over my head so the more detail the better.
I am happy to not use IIS Express and just use IIS because the volume of development is low.  I am also open to using VS directly onto Azure and bypassing IIS if that is the best solution.  I say this because I saw some posts that state there isn't
    a workaround.
Thanks for taking the time to assist.

    Hello jats1910,
Your problem may more related to IIS setting and configuration. But this forum is about Visual Studio Setup and Installation. If your Visual Studio installed without problem on your OS, then you may need to consult this issue on IIS forum.

  • Bug found in Deploy a domain controller and member using Windows Azure Virtual Machines. With fix

I have been working with the script found at
http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/scriptcenter/Deploy-a-domain-controller-2ab7d658 as a base for my azure deployments. I ran into a situation where if a VNetwork already had a DNS entry it wouldn't allow you to add another DNS entry. It would give
    an error similar to
Property 'DnsServersRef' cannot be found on this object. Make sure that it exists.
This happened at line 447 of the original script.
    Line 447 looks like:
    $dnsServersRefElement = $foundVirtualNetworkSite.DnsServersRef
I fixed the error by adding .node after $foundVirtualNetworkSite. Like this:
    $dnsServersRefElement = $foundVirtualNetworkSite.Node.DnsServersRef
I hope that this gets fixed in the original script or that my post helps someone in the future.

    Hi John,
The Copy/Move job runs under the CloudManagerAzureProviderService. In my case this runs under a system account. I checked the share permissions -> added everyone Full Control and added Everyone RX to the security of the library folder.
I also made the service account local administrator but that did not help at first.
    This solved my problem :-)

  • Photo Stream not working on Windows in a Virtual Machine, but not on my Mac

    Hi there,
since yesterday I tried to connect to Photo Stream with my Mac, but I can't. It works fine in my Windows 7 Virtual Machine with the iCloud software, it works fine on my iPhone 4S. The iCloud System Status suggests that all services work just fine.
However, as soon as I try to activate Photo Stream in iPhoto 9.2 (626) (App Store version, confirmed latest version) or Aperture 3.2 (non App Store version, confirmed latest version), I am presented with the message, which roughly translates to "Activating Photostream... iPhoto couldn't connect to Photostream", with an "Abort" button as the only option.
All other iCloud features work perfectly fine for me. Any suggestiosn?

Simple how-to guide to adding windows 7 64-bit to mavericks as a virtual machine (Virtual Box)
Why use a Virtual Machine: Sometimes you need to run a windows only program.  A VM lets you do that without rebooting your machine.
How is it different from Mac Boot Camp: Boot camp allows you to run windows but you must reboot your machine. It is faster and smoother than a VM (and with fullscreen details below), but you have to reboot for each use.
Is it possible to have a VM and Boot Camp: Yes, and I do this because sometimes I want to use a VM quickly without shutting down, sometimes I want the advantages of Boot Camp

    Open Virtual Box

Name: “Windows 7 Virtual” or as you choose
    Type: Microsoft Windows
    Version: Windows 7 64-bit
Memory: I suggest 1GB if you have 4GB available, 512 MB may run slowly.  2GB+ of 4GB may slowdown your MAC OS running while the VM is running.
“Create a Virtual Drive Now” option
File Size: 25 GB should be the minimum selected, I used 25GB because I expect to use the drive to store very little.
    HD type: VirtualBox Disk Image
    Storage: Dynamically Allocated
Locate your new VM and click Start (again you will not be able to quit once you start, if you make a mistake continue until the red quit icon appears then remove the VM)
It will ask you to select the files for the OS.  Select the ISO file, for example: /Users/Christoper/Downloads/X17-58997.iso.download/X17-58997.iso
Proceed to setup Win with your preferences
Type product key from your OS purchase or an existing one that you are moving from another machine
Note: Screen resolution may be very limited on the virtual machine.  I use resolution 800 X 600 so that all of the desktop is visible.
I suggest using a windows gadget to view the CPU and Memory usage > On desktop mac-right-click i.e. separate fingers and click both > Gadgets > CPU Meter
Enjoy having Windows on your Mac!

I have found a solution to the screen being smaller in the windows 7 virtual machine.  First right-click in the desktop region and select screen resolution.  It is probably set to 800 X 600 by default which is much less than the screensize you are using.  To determine your native screensize, go to your mac and finder > applications > utilities > hardware > graphics displays.  Mine is 1440 X 900 for macbook air.  Then go back into the virtual machine and sceen resolution settings.  Choose a screen resolution which is slightly less in all dimensions so that there is no clipping and you do not have to scroll when viewing.  For me this was 1152 X 864.  Then exit saving changes and with the VM in view press command - F (or at the menu bar View > Switch to full screen), which puts you in full screen mode.  Now you should have a screen with minimal gray empty space filling the majority of your screen

  • Windows virtual machine with labview on a Mac

I am about to buy a Mac laptop with virtualization software (either VMware or Parallels), then create a Windows 7 virtual machine and put Labview for Windows Professional on it.
I searched the board and found some discussion of this configuration but it is several years old.
I would just like to hear from people who have done this and learn from their experiences.  Are there any pitfalls, features that don't work, performance problems, setup difficulties, whatever.  Also, do you prefer VMware or Parallels.
One other thing:  I would like to create at least four virtual machines (Windows with Labview development, Windows without LV to test the applications in a non-labview environment, and similar for MacOS}.  Is this a reasonable thing to do?
    Regards,
    David

    Hi David,
As indicated above I have been running a windows virtual machine using VMware on a 17 inch macbook pro for quite a while now.  I have not experienced significant problems.  Labview and labview generated apps work fine in the virtual environment.
But would I do it again?  I think not.  The economics don't work.  You can buy a quite capable Windows laptop for less than $500.  The virtual machine alternative costs $200 for a copy of Windows, $80 for virtualization software (Parallels or VMware) plus extra memory on the Mac (I have 8 gb) plus a more powerful machine, etc.  I ended up paying over $3,000 for the Mac hardware and extra software.  The alternative would have been $1,500 for a 15 inch Mac plus $500 for a Windows laptop.
Also, there is definitely a performance penalty.  Virtualization is not free.  Start up and shutdown times for Windows are more than twice as long under VMware than with a cheap HP laptop.
It is nice having all my files (Mac and Windows) on the same machine but I could have easily networked the Mac and Windows and had effectively the same result.  Expected benefits, such as a single backup disk for both operating systems didn't work out.  Apple's time machine software views the entire Windows environment as a single lump, so I am still stuck with two backup drives.
So the good news is that it works.  The bad news is that the costs (in my opinion) exceed the benefits.

  • Windows 7 - How? -Virtual Machine, Dual Boot

I was using Windows 8 up until yesterday, but I decided to change to Windows 7 because it was recommended and it supports all the necessary software we'll be using.
I though a virtual machine was a natural choice, but then I had difficulty with my COM port which didn't appear in the device manager of the VM. I got desperate
and almost attempted a dual boot, but with dual boots you are supposed to install the earliest OS first! This would mean having to totally uninstall Windows 8.1.
Am I missing something here? What's the easiest way to get Windows 7 up and running on my laptop so that I can use the COM ports and use SSH to connect to mypi?
    Thanks for reading,

I actually already have the network set up from before, when I was using windows 8.
So I guess I can skip this stage now and just reinstall everything on the new Windows 7 virtual machine.
