Employee data migration from one company code to another company code

Hi Experts,
Can some throw some light on how can we migrate employee master data from one company code to another company code in the same client and different clients. what are the other areas we need to take care  during migration like interfaces etc.,.
secondly can we copy part of org structure or total org structcture to new org plan. if we need to create new org structure which interface is advisable and why?
i request experts opinions on this.
thanks in advance

  • What components of VM are lost after its migration from one physical host to another?

Hi, I found this post very helpful for me, it is very easy to understand about the live VM migration. I have a confusion regarding VM migration that if any
VM is migrated from one physical host to another what components of VM (vCPU, vBIOS, vRAM, vHD, vNIC, OS, Apps) will be changed?
Kindly help me to understand that:
1.Will Operating System running on VM be changed? 2. Will BIOS and Boot Loader information be changed?
Thanks Looking forward for your response.

Just to make sure we're talking about the same thing. We're talking about "live-migration" not VM conversion from one hypervisor to another, like a VM from VMWare or XenServer to a VM on Hyper-V, right?
As mentioned above, when a VM is
live-migrated from one Hyper-V host to another, nothing changes. Bios does not change. A
Gen1 VM with traditional BIOS firmware will not turn into a Gen2 machine with UEFI firmware for example.
Boot loader will not change when a VM is live-migrated from one Hyper-V host to another.
MAC address on VM NICs will change when a VM is live-migrated from one Hyper-V host to another, unless the VM NIC is configured with a static MAC address. A Changed MAC address will be interpreted by the VM as a new NIC, which will lose its old IP settings.
Stopping and restarting a VM on the same Hyper-V host changes nothing about the VM synthetic hardware such as NICs, BIOS firmware, or its internal startup files like boot loader.
Stopping a VM, and restarting it on another Hyper-V host changes nothing except the VM NIC's MAC address if it is configured to have a dynamic MAC address as described above.

  • Migration from one oracle DB to another Oracle DB

    Hi ,
We are migration data from one oracle DB to another Oracle DB. Lets take it as DB1 and DB2.
Both are having many tables and many columns. So some tables contains common columns with different data types and same datatype with different datasize.
I am trying to map the columns in both the DB's. Then I will retrieve what are the equal columns and what are columns have difference in data types and datatype lengths.
for Eg : Please find the below tables and the structures.
    DB1                                                              DB2
    EMP                                                             EMPLOYEE
    ENO   VARCHAR2(10)                                  EMP_NO  Number(8)
    ENAME  Varchar2(25)                                   EMP_NAME  Varchar2(20)
    SAL   NUMBER(8)                                        JOb    VARCHAR2(20)
    Description  BLOB/CLOB                              Department   Varcgar2(20)
                                                                       SAL  number(8,3)
                                                                       JOB_DESC  varchar2(30)
I would like to migrate DB1 to DB2
Here I found the differences as follows.
    1. There is relation between EMP and EMPLOYEE tables.
    2. Datatype is different for EMPNO(DB2) compare to DB1. ( Here in DB1 datatype is Varchar and in DB2 it is Number )
    3. in DB1 Ename datatype length is 25 and in DB2 it is 20...
So can any one suggest me any pl/sql automation code how can we map the columns, datatypes, datalengths and other required information.
Can you please suggest me and give your suggestions to write automation code if possible or how can we resolve these type of issues.
    Thanks,
    Vas

So can any one suggest me any pl/sql automation code how can we map the columns, datatypes, datalengths and other required information.
No such 'automation code' exists. You need to write your own mapping functions and exception handling processes.
Can you please suggest me and give your suggestions to write automation code if possible or how can we resolve these type of issues.
Finish what you started. The most important step you can take is to create a Functional Requirements document that includes, at a minimum:
    1. Mapping of each source table to each target table
    2. Lists of possible errors, or dirty data issues, that might be encountered
    3. The business rules that should be applied to each of those possible errors
You already made a good start on the mapping for the one table above. And you made a good start of identifying the possible errors:
    2. Datatype is different for EMPNO(DB2) compare to DB1. ( Here in DB1 datatype is Varchar and in DB2 it is Number )
Good - it should be easy for everyone in your org to agree that you can't put 'TEXT' data into a NUMBER column so now you need to document that issue:
    1. Identify data in DB1.ENO that is not numeric
    2. Remove, ignore, fix that data?
What do the business users want to do with text data in that DB1.ENO column that is not numeric? They need to tell you. They may want a report or excel file that contains that 'dirty' data so they can review and/or fix it. They may want to query that data for themselves. They may want to know where that data came from - especially if the data is all supposed to be numeric.
    3. in DB1 Ename datatype length is 25 and in DB2 it is 20...
Good - use the same process as above
    1. Identify data in DB1.ENAME that is longer than 20.
    2. Remove, ignore, fix that data? Truncate it?
Again - it is usually the business users that need to actually determine what should be done. Your job is to identify that 'dirty' data and/or make it available to the business users so they can research it
You don't need to wait for the business users to actually provide all of those answers. You can begin writing pseudo-code that contains steps to deal with those issues - you just can't write the actual code until you have the answers.
You can certainly begin writing queries or procedures that look for 'dirty' data. Just based on the two problems you posted you can write queries to find data that has those two issues.

  • SAP Archiving - Migrating from one archive backend to another.

    Hi,
We use SARA for archiving and the archiving system is IBM Provided Filenet Database with ACSAP middle-ware.
From 1999 till 2009 we have archived terabytes of data into Filenet Database.
We plan to discontinue Filenet as our choice of archiving backend system and will like to migrate all existing archived data to the new archivingsystem. We are yet to decide what new system will will move to.
We are looking for help from SAP to answer following questions:
    1) Is it possible migrate all past data from existing archiving system to a new one?
    2) If Yes, then what is the broad approach? Does the data have to be retrieved back to SAP OR Can it be directly migrated from one backend to another one?
Retrieving the data and reloading into another tool in my opinion would be rather cumbersome and stupid method until this is the only option.
In Any case, at the end of day we want that all the data should be readable from SAP like before.
    3) Is there any SAP provided tool that we can use rather then going for a 3rd party product?
    4) Please guide to migration related documentation.
Thank you in advance for your support.
    Regards,
    Chandra.

    Hello Chandra
yes- there are ways to migrate data out of Filenet into 3rd party tool without retrieving them back through SAP. I am not aware of any SAP tool itself but we have one and could help you with this effort. Please contact me at 610 3508677 and we can discuss the possibilities.

  • Data transfer from one BW system to another

As there are, at least theoretically, a myriad of ways to push data from one BW system to another, I was wondering if anyone had some key thoughts or experiences to share. I see that OpenHub/InfoSpoke and the Data Mart Interface / Export DataSources seem to be the main methods of choice.
What are the differences, and what are the key points to consider between these two or other recommended ways (for BW3.5)?
    Thanks in advance,
    Thomas

    Hi,
In the all the data transfer between SAP systems RFC is the best option.
Just create a source system for the new BW system and it will work.
    Thanks

  • How do I transfer "date added" from one iTunes library to another?

I recently transfered my iTunes library from one Mac to another w/ no problem, however all of the dates in the date added column show the date of the library transfer and not the original date the music was imported into iTunes. Is there any way to retrieve or preserve the original dates? I know, not a "real' problem, but a concern for me nonetheless.
Thanks to anyone who can help.

  • Data migration from one DEV(DE1) system to other DEV(DE2) BW system using client copy or client export import

    HI SAP Gurus,
    Please find the below details:
    SAP NetWeaver 7.3
We have to copy all customized or developed BW objects like master data, DSO's , Infocubes , Reports etc.
We need only the design changes but not the data within the DSO or cubes that exist .
    We have tried below procedure:
    1) Taken export of DE1 source client 400 with profile SAP_CUST
    2) Imported transports generated for above export into DE2 target client 350.
    3) Executed transaction SCC3 and performed post processing, post processing was successful  . Still we are not able to see DSO's, infocubes ,reports.
Please lets us know what we need to do to fulfill our requirement.

    Hi Basis,
Please refer to below documentation on how to perform system copy in BI systems
How to System Copy in SAP Business Intelligence System Landscapes (NW2004)
Post processing steps for SAP BW system copy or db copy
BI systems has mostly cross client objects. So client copy with SAP_CUST profile will not serve your purpose.
    Hope this helps.

  • TS4002 Icloud data restore from one Apple ID to another?

I had to replace my 4S with another.  I originally set up icloud on phone "1" (now not working) to back up contact, data, etc with a specific Apple ID.  The person who set up icloud on phone "2" used a different aApple ID.  How do I get the data from phone/ID "1" loaded to the new phone "2" and new ID?

Start by going to icloud.com on your computer, log into your old iCloud account (the one with the data from phone 1) and verify that the data is still there.  If it isn't, it can't be recovered to migrate to the new account.
Assuming the data is still there, go to Settings>iCloud on phone 2 and set this old account up on the new phone.  If you already have an iCloud account set up on this phone, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account (this will only delete the account from the phone, not from iCloud; it will still be there when you sign back in later), then set up your old iCloud account.  Turn on data syncing for contacts, calendars, etc. and if prompted, choose Merge.  Confirm that the data from your old iCloud account is now on your phone.  Assuming it is, go to Settings>iCloud and turn data syncing for contacts, calendars, etc. back to Off, and when prompted choose to keep the data on the iPhone.  After all iCloud data syncing is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  You now have to move this data to your new account.
To migrate the data to the new account, go to Settings>iCloud and set up your new account with your new Apple ID (or set it up again if you had to delete it earlier).  Next, turn syncing for calendars, contacts, etc. back to On and if prompted, choose Merge.  This will upload the data on your phone (from your original iCloud account) to your new iCloud account and merge it with any data that may already be there.

  • Data retrieve from one table control to another table control

    Hi all,
I had an requirement like to create Two table controls.
for first Table control i had an sel field defined as 'MARK'.
when i check the row in the first table control think it  is header data for sales order .
all the item details have to retrieve in the second table control.
This is my requirement, i am not able to trigger when selecting the row in table control.
will anybody had an experience like this.
    Regards,
    Madhavi

    Hi Madhavi,
If  we need the case to display header and item as mentioned in 2 table controls....
we can display in table control 2/item only (the line items of the one selected in the table control 1 or the header )...so ,at a time we need to display line items for only 1 header ....
so ...first disable the selections/multiple selections to disable the row selector
We have already declared a field type C to capture the value for the field selector...so we can convert this field to a radio button and then assign a function code to the radio button at screen level
Whenever you click on the radio button ..immediately the function code is triggered..then in PAI ..we can check and find the header record with 'X' and populate the data for the table control 2
    Hope it helps

  • Data Migration From Peoplesoft , JDEdwards To SAP.

    Hi,
This is kiran here we are doing data Migration work from Peoplesoft And JDEdwards to SAP.in SAP side it involves Master data tables Related to Customer, Vendor, Material. and Meta data tables related to SD, MM, FI. We as SAP Consultant identified Fields from above tables and marked them as Required, Not required, And Mandatory. The Peoplesoft and JDEdwards flocks come up with the same from their side. Then we want map the Fields. as I am new to data Migration any body suggest me what are the steps involves in data Migration How to do Data Mapping in Migration Thanks in advance.
    Thanks
    Kiran.B

    Hi Kiran,
Good... Check out the following documentation and links
Migrating from one ERP solution to another is a very complex undertaking. I don't think I would start with comparing data structures. It would be better to understand the business flows you have currently with any unique customizations and determine how these could be implemented in your target ERP. Once this is in place, you can determine the necessary data unload/reload to seed your target system.
A real configuration of an ERP system will only happen when there is real data in the system. The mapping of legacy system data to a new ERP is a long difficult process, and choices must be made as to what data gets moved and what gets left behind. The only way to verify what you need to actually run in the new ERP environment is to migrate the data over to the ERP development and test environments and test it. The only way to get a smooth transition to a new ERP is to develop processes as automatic as possible to migrate the data from the old system to the new.
Data loading is not a project that can be done after everything else is ready. Just defining the data in the legacy system is a huge horrible task. Actually mapping it to one of the ERP system schemas is a lesson in pain that must be experienced to be believed.
The scope of a data migration project is usually a fairly large development process with a lot of proprietary code written to extract legacy data, transform and load the data into the ERP system. This process is usually called ETL (extract, transform, load.)
How is data put into the ERP?
There is usually a painfully slow data import facility with most ERP systems. Mashing data into the usually undocumented table schema is also an option, but must be carefully researched. Getting the data out of the legacy systems is usually left to the company buying the ERP. These export - import processes can be complex and slow, sometimes specialized ETL tools can help, sometimes it is easier to use what ever your programmers are familiar with, tools such as C, shell or perl.
An interesting thing to note is that many bugs and quirks of the old systems will be found when the data is mapped and examined. I am always amazed at what data I find in a legacy system, usually the data has no relational integrity , note that it does not have much more integrity once it is placed in an ERP system so accurate and clean data going in helps to create a system that can work.
The Business Analysts (BAs) that are good understand the importance of data migration and have an organized plan to migrate the data, allocate resources, give detailed data maps to the migrators (or help create the maps) and give space estimates to the DBAs. Bad BAs can totally fubar the ERP implementation. If the BAs and management cannot fathom that old data must be mapped to the new system, RUN AWAY. The project will fail.
