Enable CMSS-3d for a 5.1 surround headse

Hi guys i have a turtle beach earforce HPA2 5. surround headset and a X-fi Extrememusic soundcard. I would like to know if anyone knows for sure if it is best to enable CMSS-3d for 5. headsets and this headset, or if it is best to disable CMSS-3d. I have emailed customer support for creative and for turtle beach and their CSR's both do not know. I understand that is not an easy question because it is still a headset and not a traditional 5. speaker setup, but it does have a bunch of speakers and turtle beach and creative both told me to put it as a 5. speaker setup, rather than headphones in the audio console. Ive spent over 0 hours googling for an answer and i've found nothing so ill try this route instead. Please help!

ahh i see so with cmss-3d on stereo xpand and upmix to auto, you really cant go wrong because if the game supports 5. then it would be the same as if it were off, but if it does not support 5. then its going to upmix the sound for that game to make it sound as much like 5. as possible? i think i understand now. thanks for your help. ill do stereo xpand with upmix to auto.

You don't need to turn CMSS-3D on though. If the game supports 5., then it will utilize all of your speakers.
However, it doesn't hurt to keep CMSS-3D on (I recommend Stereo Xpand). When upmix is set to auto, it won't mess with 5. audio.

It depends on what you're doing. When you have 5. headphones connected, you should set up the card as if you are using 5. speakers. The CMSS-3DHeadphone option is for when you are using standard stereo headphones, and the speaker selection is set to "Headphones".
You can enable CMSS with your 5. headphones (but set the speaker selection to 5., that way you get the right CMSS setting), so you get 5. from sources like music, for instance. Music is normally only stereo.

Is there a utility that can enable CMSS from the command line? I know that this can be done via Creative Play Center, but I am looking for something that can be automated (run on windows boot, ie.), requiring no user input neither on the screen nor on the front panel of my SB Extigy.

AFAIK, you can't turn ON/OFF the wireless capability on the command prompt (type netsh wlan set to see the commands that you can do) but you may try the trick below on how to fix a broken wifi switch.
Broken Wireless Hardware Switch Fix
When you toggle the physical wifi switch, it disabled a certain pin on the wireless card that disables the wifi capability (same thing as pressing Fn+F5). The trick requires you to put a small amount of tape on pin #13 of the WLAN card so that the system will see the wireless device as "Enabled / ON".

How can I enable spell checking for a text box that is just one line, e.g. subject in e-mail?

In a prior version of Firefox I found a website somewhere that told me what to do to enable spell checking for text boxes that are just one line. I got used to being able to send an e-mail with a Subject Line that didn't have a misspelling. Now it doesn't work. Please tell me how I can enable that again. I am on a Mac using Firefox 6.0.2. You can set the pref layout.spellcheckDefault to 2 on the about:config page.
To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website. 
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page. 
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold (user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default or changed via the right-click context menu.

How to enable remote debugging for a session other than the current one

I am trying to figure out how to enable remote debugging for a session other than the one I am currently using.
More specifically, we have an application that is making database calls to Oracle 11gR2. Something is causing an exception during this invocation. My system is currently not set up to recompile said application, so I can't just add the debug call to the code and recompile. Therefore I would like to be able to log into the database (as sys, if necessary) and invoke dbms_debug_jdwp.connect_tcp on the desired session.
The docs indicate that I should be able to do so:

I've tried granting the 'BECOME USER' privilege for the relevant users, but that didn't help. I read something about having to set some kind of ACL as of 11gR1, but the reference documentation was very confusing.
Would someone be able to point me in the right direction? Is this even possible, or did I misread the documentation?

Interesting deduction, that would be very useful indeed. I hate recompiling just to add the debug call, and it can't be done in our production environment. But it seems unlikely to me it would be implemented this way.
I would cross-post this in the SQL AND PL/SQL forum though, as this is really a database issue, not with the SQL Developer tool. Do add the links to the other posts in each.

Issue while enabling Access Control for a Coherence server node

When i start the server i get the error "java.security.AccessControlException: Unsufficient rights to perform the operation". Please see below for the sequence of steps I've followed to enable access control. I just need to be enable Authentication (not authorization) at this stage
1. I have added the following entry in the Coherence Operational override file

Did you create the weblogic domain with the Oracle Webcenter Spaces option selected? This should install the relevant libraries into the domain that you will need to deploy your application. My experience is based off WC 11.1.1.0. If you haven't, you can extend your domain by re-running the Domain Config Wizard again (WLS_HOME/common/bin/config.sh)

Can't enable disk use for restored shuffle

My shuffle stopped playing music in March. I continued using it as a removable disk. I tried the restore utility and it worked - now my shuffle plays music again. However the latest iTunes (7.0.1 and 7.0.2) has no checkbox to enable disk use for when the Shuffle is connected. The checkbox is there for a 5G iPod but not for the Shuffle.
So - now it works as an iPod but no longer works as a disk. What is going on here? How can I enable disk use?

iTunes 7.0.2 is still displaying that checkbox for both of our local Shuffles.
Perhaps you just need to scroll down to find it. If it's actually not there then I'd have to think that this is an iTunes question, not an iPod one, and might be better placed in those forums.

Acrobat Pro 8 and Reader X - Enable Extended Features for Form

Using Acrobat Pro 8.3.0, I "Enabled Usage Rights for Adobe Reader" for a fillable form created in LiveCycle Designer 8.0. The following error message occurs when opening this form in Reader X:
"This document enabled extended features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and use of extended features is no longer available. Please contact the author for the original version of this document."
The form has not been changed and as mentioned, I am the author. Any solutions to allow user in Reader X to fill-in form? Do I need to upgrade to Acrobat Pro X?

I am having same problem with a 2011 year tax PDF fill in form I JUST got from IRS website. The actual form is the 2011 8829.
I can not open the PDF from the web browser or if I save it to my local drive.
I have not been able to open it at all ... thus I have made NO changes.

Enable/disable ACLs for a volume

where is the option enable/disable ACLs for a volume in leopard server 10.5x?
I searched in Server Admin and there Volumes … but I cant find this option which is described in this forum ?!

By default Access Control Lists (ACLs) are enabled on Leopard Server (10.5). The situation was different on Tiger Server (10.4) as you had to enable ACLs for each mounted volume.
To disable ACLs on Leopard Server you have to use the command line:
sudo fsaclctl -p path -d disable
to disable and to enable:
sudo fsaclctl -p path -d enable
As with 10.4 you its a good idea to restart the server after disabling or enabling ACLs, otherwise ACLs won't take. Strictly speaking this should only be true of the Boot volume although in my view its worth doing it for any other mounted volume you are going to be using for sharing.
To display ACL status for all mounted volumes issue this command:
fsaclctl -a
for a specific volume its:
fsaclctl -p path
where path is the name of the volume - you can drag drop the desired volume into the terminal window to show its full path. For example you could have:
fsaclctl -p /
/ is terminal shorthand for the boot volume. Regardless of how you do it you should see something like this:
Access control lists are supported on /Volumes/Data HD

You can only set up a Gmail account as an Exchange account if you have a paid account. Google dropped Exchange support for free accounts two years ago. That link is just a bit outdated.
