Encoder power source

I have been speccing a motion system.
We have to get it up and running ASAP so we've just ordered what I thought was all the necessary components. I've started doing my wiring diagram now.
The first thing I noticed, is the encoder requires a power supply

My question is this: I have a Danaher driver and the UMI 7772. Can the encoder get it's power from either of these or do I need a seprate power supply. Does the encoder come with its own ac/dc converter power supply? Does anyone know of a recommeneded power supply?

Hi SeanJ,
You can indeed use your UMI 7772 to power your NEMA 23 Encoder. You will need to use a 24V power supply with this module as illustrated in this document (page 3): http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/372324d.pdf
Please refer to this link for information regarding your encoder: http://www.ni.com/pdf/products/us/cat_steppersandencoders.pdf
At the bottom of page 7 of this document you should see a table for the wire description of the encoder. As you can see the white wire will be your power input which you need to connect to your UMI 7772. Please refer to http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/373359b.pdf for more information on the UMI 7772. On page 39 you will see a table for the feedback connector pin assignment. Pin 4 will provide a +5V output to use for your encoder. Based on this you can connect the brown wire of your encoder to pin 1 of the UMI, the yellow wire to pin 14 and the COM wire to any of the digital ground lines.

Music won't play unless connected to power source/charging

Music will not play on my iPhone 4S unless connected to sync cord and the sync cord must be charging. The battery is full. I had an issue before with the music starting/stopping sporadically and the iPhone not recognizing when headphones were plugged in. That seemed to resolve itself once I updated the software. Now this.... If I disconnect from sync cord/power supply, the play button on the screen gets glitchy and the music stops.

This sequence works:
turn on the power source (e.g. Logitech portable speakers)
power on and connect iPhone to power source via 30-pin to Lightning adapter
connect the earphones
start Pandora

HT4106 How do I use a midi keyboard on GarageBand with my iPad? When I try it says the device cannot be used as it requires too much power. However, I have given the midi it's own power source.

How do I use a midi keyboard as an input device on garageband? Its an oxygen 61 board. I'm using an iPad camera connection kit and a separate power source for the midi but each time it says it cannot use the midi as it requires too much power.

I have the same problem with my iPad and 61. Sometimes it says device not supported and sometimes it rants about power - any solutions anyone ?

My iPhone 5 won't turn on at all and then when I plug it into a power source either into a plug socket or into my laptop with the USB cable it keeps showing start up screen with apple logo over and over again on a loop.
I have tried holding the top and front button together, this didn't work. I have also tried connecting to my laptop and following the reboot steps that I found on another discussion forum. Neither worked for me. The phone just won't reboot and it keeps continuing to loop the apple logo screen over and over without me touching anything.
The iPhone won't even connect to itunes and so itunes seems to not recognise my phone because its not even turning on (just continually apple logo screen appears for 5 seconds, goes to black screen and then repeats).
I don't know what is happening to it! Can anyone help? Is it a fault with the hardware or have I dont something to it? The next appointment at the genius bar for me is monday so I'm going to keep looking for any more recent ones until then but I really need to get it sorted before then so if anyone can help that would be great!

Try a reset when your iPhone is plugged into the charger as you say it does not respond when not plugged in...
Press and hold the Home and On/Off buttons simultaneously until you see the Apple logo, then release. This may take up to 10 seconds. This is the equivalent of a re-boot and you will not lose any data.
See if it will charge after this.

What model iPad do you have? If it's an iPad 1, the battery may have expired and needs replacement.

I have not been able to get my device running correctly, and altough I've read tons of things online, I still have no solution to my problem.
Here's the thing: after everything's plugged in and ON, I see the Apple logo briefly, then the TV displays a sign that says no signal, check pwoer cords and power source.
But everything is plugged in and connected properly, otherwise, I doubt I'd be seeing the apple logo, right?
I tried changing the HDMI cable, reversing the ends, switching ports, hard resetting the ATV, and trying a different TV. No luck.
I read there is some issue with Samsung TVs, and most LED and LCD tvs down here are Samsung.
On the other hand, I cannot return it or exchange it, since I bought it in the states.
Oh! One of the tvs I tried it on displays a little sign that reads "connected at 1280x720 @60hz", and only THEN, goes to the "no signal" sign.
Please!!! I am being driven up the walls here.... HELP!!

Try this:
Change the Apple TV resolution:
Press and hold the Menu and Up button on your Apple Remote for six seconds.
The Apple TV will automatically cycle to the next resolution at approximately 20 second intervals.
Press Play on the Apple Remote to keep the current resolution or Select to manually cycle to the next resolution.

Where can I get an additional power source for my MacBook Pro?

I am travelling to Europe next week and will be travelling on the road quite often. I would like to get some work done during that time. My laptop battery will inevitably run out of power during that time and I would like to carry an additional power source with me so I can get some extra juice when I am nowhere near an outlet.
I have the latest MacBook Pro where the battery is not removable.
Where can I get an additional power source for my MacBook Pro? I don't mind if it is a 3rd party product.

This must be due to some kind of degredation of the Ipod. . It is not fixed by IOS resets as others have noted.
Has anyone asked Apple directly about this?

If you get the error "Backup not successful" and you've tried deleting the last backup and trying to back up manually without luck, try the following test: Go to...
Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>manage Storage, tap your device name in the Backups section, then look under Backup options. Turn off all apps from backup and then do a manual backup. If that doesn't work, then this post will not help. If the backup works, then go back to the app list and turn some on and try another backup. If successful, keep repeating these steps. If it fails at some point, then try to zero in on the one app that seems to make the backup fail. (I had this problem and found one app failing, probably due to a corrupt data file.)
This process will take time, but if a backup works with no app data being used but clearly fails with the original settings, then somewhere in the mix of apps is a "bad" one.

Is there a MagSafe 2 compatible portable external power source for the retina display MacBook Pro?

I’m using a retina display MacBook Pro with the MagSafe 2 connection. I would like to have a portable external power source to extend the use of my laptop on long field trips where I am away from power sources. Swapping batteries is not an option for this generation of MacBook Pros. There seem to be many options for PC’s and even iPhones/iPads/iPods but the MagSafe 2 connection seems to be the issue. I saw one link that suggested buying an Apple MagSafe 2 power adapter and performing surgery on the power cord (using components provided by the vendor) so that the adapter would run on their back up battery. I was hoping for a more esthetically pleasing solution. Any suggestions? Does this product exist and I just missed it? Clearly, if a MagSafe(1) compatible external battery existed I could adapt that using the MagSafe to MagSafe 2 converter.

I wouldn’t recommend using an underpowered AC adapter with your MacBook Pro. It sounds as though the best solution would be to get a different laptop bag with a sufficiently large side pocket.

A description of how system sounds and can be controlled ....
If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.

HT1414 My iphone 4s is stuck in the CONNECT TO ITUNES screen (appears everytime i turn it on or connect it to a power source)

It all started when i tried to update to iOs 6 but then, my battery drained. I charged it (va power source) and waited for the red battery bar icon to appear. However, it did not appear. Instead a CONNECT TO THE ITUNES screen appeared even when i'm not connected to a laptop. It was stuck there. IF RESET DOESN'T WORK, FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port. Do not release button until you see picture of iTunes and plug (very important)
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note: Data will be lost

My 6th gen nano ipod stopped working. I figured it was because it was next to my sweaty body, so put it in rice. I sought help from internet and tried all of the troubleshooting steps; i.e pushing down the power button and the volume down button consecutively, plugging it in to a power source, waiting 10 minutes and pushing the buttons while it was plugged in. Nothing has worked thus far. Is there anything else that I can try?
