Encore CS4 does not recognize Blue Ray External Driver

I just bought a LG blue ray external drive writer which comes with Cyberlinks SW. From Premiere, I opened Encore to burn (build) a sequence on the LG Blue-Ray burner, but it does not work: - In En Project setting, the “Player” is grayed-out and only “Adobe Player” is displayed. - In En Build tab, when I choose the Format as Blue Ray and Output as Blue Ray Disk, the Build button is grayed out and Recorder shows None Found. However when I change the Format to DVD, the Build settings automatically change and the Recorder LG Blue Ray is shown. How do I make En to recognize the LG Blue Ray and burn in Blue ray format? Thanks, Vlad.

There are many threads in the Encore forum regarding reasons that burners are not seen. Most of these problems can be traced back to specific software, and most of the rest have to do with how the hardware is set up. You can find most of these in the main forum, and the Burning DVD sub-forum, with a Search.
First thing that I'd check is that your OS sees your hardware. In Windows, Control Panel>System>Device Manager. Check here (or within your OS) to make sure that it's just not a bad installation.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Premiere elements 11 does not recognize blu ray burner

Purchased Pawtec external blu ray burner. Premiere elements 11 recognizes it as a dvd burner but not a blu ray burner. How can I fix this?

    Long160
There is no burn to folder for Blu-ray in Premiere Elements (any version), so we cannot use that escape route. What has been used in the past as a workaround for this "no burn to folder for Blu-ray" is creating a Blu-ray disc image with Premiere Elements in conjunction with a virtual Blu-ray burner with a virtual BD-RE disc. I have written about that in the following blog post
    http://www.atr935.blogspot.com/2013/11/pe12-disc-imagephantom-burner-pe.html
But, as for the Pawtec external Blu-ray burner being recognized in the Premiere Elements 11 burner location in burn to Blu-ray,
    a. you may just have an external Blu-ray burner that is not compatible with Premiere Elements
    b. you could try for a Premiere Elements 11 uninstall/reinstall going the route of Deactivation with in the program (Help Menu/Deactivate), uninstall via regular Control Panel route, ccleaner run through (https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner), reinstall.
Have you tried another USB port? Does the Blu-ray burner require one or two USB connections to have enough power for functioning?
Also, do you have all you operating system updates?
    More later.

  • Premiere elements does not recognize Blu-Ray disc, says media not present.  Under 12 I was able to record 3 blu-ray dvds using the same burner and discs I'm trying with 13.  What is the problem?

I installed PE13 and cannot burn blu-ray DVDs.  I was able to burn 3 blu-ray DVDs using PE12.  When I select DVD from the menu it recogniazes that it is not a stadard DVD as I get an 'incorrect media' error message.  It will burn standard DVDs of the same video using standard DVD mefia.
    What is going  on here?
When I loaded PE 12 back on the computer I cannot load a file created with PE13.  Looks like a format change?  Can I convert file back to PE12?

  • Encore CS4 is transcoding compliant Blu-Ray audio assets when set to 'Do not transcode'

    Hi there,
I have a Blu-Ray concert video project consisting of 3-menus, 4-sequentially linked timelines (intro-1, intro-2, main concert timeline, and credits).
All audio assets consist of 96k/24-bit WAV files from the same professionally rendered mastered audio source.
    Here's the issue:
When importing my 96k/24-bit audio assets in Encore CS4, they all show as Blu-Ray compliant and maintain the 'Do not transcode' property in the assets menu.
However, after rendering the project to Blu-Ray I immediately noticed that the main concert timeline (2-hrs 10-min) had been transcoded down to 48k/16-bit while the other smaller intro/credits timelines had rendered correctly and were playing back at the desired 96k.24-bit rate.
In order to eliminate possible issues with the main timeline's audio file source, I created a smaller main timeline (35-min) using the exact same audio source files and lo & behold - the main timeline was not down-transcoded and is playing back at the desired 96k/24-bit rate.
I'm wondering if there is a non-documented limitation in rendering audio files over a certain size as my main timeline is made up of 2-total WAV files of 2.2Gb each.
I have the ability to import a single AIFF file at 4.4GB for the main timeline - but for some reason CS4 does not recognize AIFF files as Blu-Ray compliant and will show the transcode setting as 'Automatic'.
Imported AIFF files always showed as 'Do not transcode' in the Blu-Ray assets menu in Encore CS3 (even though there is a documented bug which prevents rendering AIFF audio to Blu-Ray and I would have to convert to WAV files and re-import anyway in CS3).
My next step is to try splitting the main timeline into shorter chunks, but this is not the direction I want to go in.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    -Cheers

Ok, solved my own problem - solution below for those with similar issues.
    1. My audio timelines exported from Final Cut Pro as AIFF are actually 'AIFC' which is technically not Blu-Ray compliant, thus Encore will need to transcode. Unfortunately - Encore has no quality preset settings for dealing with PCM audio transcodes higher than 48k/16-bit (why not?). Encore CS4 will happily pass 96k/24-bit through to a Blu-Ray build without transcoding if the supplied file is true AIFF (not-AIFC) and/or similarly compliant WAV files.
    2. My main Encore timeline consisted of 2-WAV files at 2.2Gb each placed in a single Encore timeline due to the total audio being over 4GB thus requiring me to split the source audio files in half in order to stay under the 4GB limit for WAV files, and also because I had to export the FCP audio timeline using Compressor in order to generate Blu-Ray compliant audio files (non-AIFC). Also - (possible bug?) if Encore has 2-separate audio files in the same timeline it will transcode the audio to the current project's default audio settings (48k/16-bit in my case) - even though the assets are showing as 'Do not transcode' in the asset menu for Blu-Ray. It clearly states in the Encore CS4 manual that imported WAV files at 96k/24-bit will not be transcoded - but it appears in this case when 2-audio files are placed in the same timeline that it will transcode with no warning - bothersome to say the least.
I suppose the alternative is to work with a lossless audio format which supports files larger than 4GB - which would only require a single audio file for a single Encore timeline, but other than DTS Master Audio (not available on this project) I'm not sure what audio format would work in Encore to support 96k/24-bit audio files larger than 4GB.
If anyone knows - drop some knowledge!
    -Cheers

  • I have a new iMac 27 and a new Blu Ray external drive.

I have a new iMac 27 and a new Blu Ray external drive. What is the best way to burn a BluRay disk? I read about TOAST etc but they are getting bad reviews. What software is the best? Im running mountain lion of course. Anyone know of good software to burn this type of disk that ACTUALLY works?

    Okay, a couple of things:
I still use (mostly) an old version of iMovie because it was/is the only version which will process footage losslessly. However, the newer versions are okay - just do not use the automatic share option, but use  the export to quicktime option where you have many options as to quality, size, etc:
You will wind up with a .mov file you can drag into Toast to burn (or iDVD to add menus and burn). If in iDVD, you can either burn directly (but not bluray) or make a VIDEO_TS folder which can be dragged into Toast - I also use that if I want to keep a copy to burn later as it has all the necessary files so you can ditch or archive all your clips, etc.

  • Satellite A100 does not recognize new CD/DVD drive

I purchased a new CD/DVD drive for my four year old Toshiba Satellite A-100 as the old one went crazy and did not want to work.
Unfortunately I bought a Toshiba Portege A100 DVD/ CD-RW Combo Drive which is not exactly what I had before hopping that it will work anyway.
Unfortunately I got surprised because it does not recognize the CD/DVD drive at all :/..
It seems to work and the light is flashing so I believe that it is not broken.
I just plugged it in as that's the way I was told to do it.
Do I have to download drivers to make it run?
Will it work on my laptop or is it a "newer" CD drive which will not cooperate with my laptop?
I would appreciate any help. Thx

    Hi
I think I agree with Jimi. For me it sounds like that your CD/DVD drive isnt compatible with the notebook. Note: Not all drives are compatible to all notebooks.
Normally the best option would be if you check the user manual before you buy a CD/DVD drive. On the first pages you can find a list of compatibles drives they were pretested from Toshiba in this notebook. So these drives should definitively work.
Alternative you can contact the ASP as Jimi said. They also sell compatible drives.
And by the way, here you can search for the nearest ASP:

  • MacBook pro does not recognize my WD external hard drive anymore

I use TIme Machine on my WD external hard drive. Everything was working great up until about a month ago. My MacBook Pro does not recognize my external hard drive anymore...I have done nothing differently than usual. I did search in previous discussions and tried rebooting both the hard drive and the computer.
The USB port is fine as it does recognize another external hard drive and also pen drives....Please help! I haven't backed up in a month and need to figure out how to get this to work soon. Should I call WD?

Does the WD drive show in Disk Utility?
Many times, a USB port simply cannot provide the power a hard drive needs. It is not uncommon for any electric motor to draw more power as it ages. A drive that worked before can stop working when it gets older because age has made it tak more power than any USB port can supply. There are a couple of cheap things to try:
    1) A "Y" USB cable---two plugs go to the computer and one to hte drive, giving a power boost.
1 Meter USB 2.0 A to 5 Pin Mini B Cable - Auxiliary USB "Y" Power Design for external hard drives.
    2) a POWERED USB hub. That takes the power delivery burden off the USB port so it can deal with data.
WD bare drives are fine but their enclosures are not very Mac-friendly. One thing that has reported helping is to get rid of the proprietary formating that WD puts on their drives. If you don't have to share the drive with a Windows computer, use Disk Utility to erase and reformat the drive to Macintosh Extended Journaled.

  • CS4 does not recognize some DNGs

My Panasonic GK2 creates raw files as RW2. I use (on my Mac) LightRoom 3.6 to import, convert to DNG and develop the files.
Photoshop CS4 Camera Raw 5.0 for Mac had been processing these without a problem. As of about 30 h. ago, it appears that my system no longer recognizes this format. DNG's from my Panasonic camera are greyed-out in Finder. In Adobe Bridge CS4 preview pane they are displayed with the DNG icon.
Please advise if update for Camera Raw is available, and if you think that might solve thie issue.
OTOH, believe I now have a viable work-around: after editing in LightRoom, export to PSD for further exiting in PS-CS4.

OK thanks, Station_two; I'm currently on a much older version of ACR. Downloading now.
See answer to next post regarding current results.
I used to see occasional update links automatically served, I believe, but could just as well be thiniking of other products. Surprised these do not come to us automatically.
    ============= Updated Posting ==============
Mac OSX 10.8.3 is not happy with the file just downloaded, Camera_Raw_5_7.zip.
Zip archive contains two files, Camera Raw.plugin ("Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file."), and cameraprofiles.mpkg ("...can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer. Your security preferences allow installation of only apps from the Mac App Store and identified developers").
I might be able to set back my preferences to allow the second to be installed, if that is the correct procedure. What do you think?
Not sure I mentioned this but I am still able process all DNGs using the Development tab of Lightroom 3. From there I can easily export to PSD for further editing in PS when needed. Also found that LR has a good print routine.
Still, a bit of a mystery why SOME of the Panasonic DNGs can be opened and others, of similar vintage, cannot.

  • Photoshop CS4 does not recognize raw photos taken with newer cameras. Anyone else have this problem?

Photoshop CS4 will not recognize RAW2 photos taken with my new Panasonic Lumix FZ100 camera. This camera is listed in Adobe's 6.2 Camera Raw update for Photoshop CS5 but cannot be loaded in CS4. I paid a lot of money for CS4 and don't want to buy CS5 just because I bought a new camera, but it appears that Adobe no longer updates Camera Raw for CS4 or with newer cameras. When I called the Help Desk to find out if there was some kind of patch I could get to make CS4 compatible with my new camera a gentleman in New Delhi informed me that he couldn't even answer my question until I paid $40 since answering questions about CS4 was a "paid service." I hung up in a rage. Does anyone else have this problem and is there a solution?

This camera is listed in Adobe's 6.2 Camera Raw  update for Photoshop CS5 but cannot be loaded in CS4.
Adobe does indeed not update obsolete versions of Camera Raw for new camera types.
And guess what: It’s the camera producers who seem to like to change their raws – so how about spreading some of your indignation their way?
I paid a lot of  money for CS4 and don't want to buy CS5 just because I bought a new  camera
The upgrade is cheaper than buying the full version.
Anyway, you could try the free DNG Converter which should be able to handle everything the most recent version of Camera Raw can handle.

  • W500 Blu-Ray Mat**bleep**a BD-MLT UJ232A will not recognize Blu-Ray DVD movie

Recently purchased W500 4061- W6U with Mat$hita BD-MLT UJ232A optical drive at Firmware level "TC02" will not recognize a brand new Blu-Ray DVD.  But will recognize and play a normal (non-Blu-Ray) DVD.  The system sees the Blu-Ray optical drive and shows it is working normally.  I attended to update the firmware, but the Lenovo Optical Disc Drive Firmware Update 1.6 utility, states the firmware is already at the current level and under the header New Firmware states "None".  Any ideas?  Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It has nothing to do with the drive.
Blu-ray movies are encrypted using keys. Hackers break the keys. So new Blu-ray movies then come out using new keys. WinDVD (your Blu-ray playing software) contains the keys, and needs to be updated. So see if there's a WinDVD update available from Lenovo's site. If not, then you'll have to pester Lenovo to get a new update from Corel. You can't get the update from Corel yourself.
Or you can simply buy a better Blu-ray player program, such as Cyberlink PowerDVD.
    Good luck!

  • Itunes 10.4 will not recognize libraries on external drives!

I made the mistake of updating to itunes 10.4 and now itunes does not recognize itunes libraries that I have stored on external harddrives, most concerning is my master library of Apple Lossless files.  Is there a way to get the new version of itunes to recognize libraries on external drives?
Thanks so much for your advice!

Found my answer by sifting through all itunes questions.  (I tried earlier, but apparently chose the wrong key words.  In my successful search I just searched through everything itunes related.) There was a posting where someone indicated they could not open alternative libraries using the option key method, precisely my situation.  They stated that they solved the problem by appending a ".itl" at the end of the library file.  I tried this myself and sure enough, it worked.  Hopefully it will also work for all others who are suffering from this scenario.

  • Since installing Lion, I have not been able to utilize Time Machine (does not recognize the back-up drive); my wireless mouse does not function properly; I have experienced unreasonable delays in the system.  Is there a fix or upgrade coming?

Is there a fix or upgrade to deal with the many problems I am experiencing since I installed Lion?  I can no longer utilize Time Machine (Does not see the back-up drive); my wireless mouse does not work properly; my iMac has slowed down considerably.  I am reminded of having a PC machine again.  Bummer!

Either downgrade to Snow Leopard or try reinstalling Lion.
    Reinstalling Lion Without the Installer
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alterhatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.
    Downgrade Lion to Snow Leopard
    1.  Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups, do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.  If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion files.

  • Encore menu done in Photoshop issue

For the past few years I build a DVD menu in Photoshop that I used in Encore. I have a roll over command for each chapter (=1) there are anywhere for 26-30 chapters. Every year I have done it with success except for this year. I'm using Encore 5.0.0.
