  • Encore cs5 motion menus not working when build to flash

Hello my question is this, I have created a dvd in encore cs5. I have created motion menus in AE.
Everything works great when I build to DVD. However when I export to flash my animated menu is working but the buttons (play move, chapter select , extras) do not show up until the animation is complete. Is this a simple fix? or should I make the menus static?

Hmm... what version of the Flash Player are you testing with
(full version, including release number)? You can find out which

    Hello,
What is the easiest way to create motion Menus in Encore CS5?  I'm creating a motion menu in after effects CS5 and will import as a menu in Encore, but I want to keep the animation, while the buttons will navigate you to the appropriate timelines.  I want to keep the animation going throughout the duration of the menu?
    Thanks,

The first link is Encore CS5 help. It is a good beginning.  I'm not sure if the tutorial it links to is the same as my second link.  The AE help link below is also useful.
CS5 allows creation of buttons in AE, but for plain navigation options, I think it is just as easy to add in Encore or Photoshop.

  • Encore CS5 turning my 264 menus into MPEG2...why?

Blu Ray authoring on a Mac using Encore CS5.
Video is compressed in Apple Compressor 3.5 as H264 and all is well until I build the project. Encore then takes my 264 encoded menus and recompresses them into MPEG2 making them play back herky jerky and they look like poop. The buttons still work, but the menu's video is unacceptable.
All the other video in the project stays as .264 and looks fine. I have the project set up as H264. Anything I could be missing here (other than the deadline)?

They're legal streams just like all the other H264 files in the project that play back fine.
I can set them to Don't Transcode.
They still come out converted to MPEG when the disc is burned and I can verify this when playing the disc back as everything except the menus shows up as AVC.
I wouldn't even care that much if the files get converted, but they stutter and jitter and generally look horrible.

  • Freeware menus for Adobe Encore CS5 ?

Where can I find freeware menus for Adobe Encore CS5 ?
There are not many to choose from in the program

I'm still a little confused, but that may be because you are having an odd problem.
What I think is the case now is that you were in fact missing the library.  You added the library to your system, and you do now find the files and directories in the Adobe/...whatever.../Encore/ directories. (Are you on a Mac? For some reason I got that idea, and was unsure how that would affect this.)
You do not say that you added these using the insturctions at:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/408/kb408826.html
and I do not know if the files are "registered" in any way. I believe they are not. If they are in the directories, then Encore will use them.
You do not say that you checked and the location in Encore preferences points to the location where you put the files. The fact that you now see the categories (the folder names) while you are running Encore, however, suggests that it is pointed to the right place.
BUT, when you click on one of those categories, none of the templates are there. It is as if you have the folders in the Encore library, but no files inside the folders (or the extensions are wrong).
    Do I have this right?

  • Adobe Encore CS5.1 producing DVDs with flickering video

Hey all, new to the forums but been using Adobe software for a couple of years now.
I've got Encore CS5.1 as part of the Adobe Master Collection CS5.5, and recently I've been using it to burn DVD videos.
I made a video in Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 a few weeks ago and rendered it as an mp4 file in h.264 HDTV 24fps (video recorded with my Nikon D3200 D-SLR). I then imported the mp4 file into Encore as an asset (I didn't use Dynamic Link to insert the prproj file into Encore) and burned it onto a 4.7GB DVD (no menus or anything, just a simple DVD) and it looked absolutely fine on both my PC and on the TV and the recipient of the DVD was very happy with the result. The video was 28 minutes long and 6.2GB in size.
Recently I have been making more videos in Premiere Pro CS5.5 and attempting to burn them onto DVDs using Encore CS5.1, but I've not been having so much luck.
Whenever I create a DVD with Encore, the video playback is always a bit 'flickery' no matter how I import the video into Encore (have tried using both Dynamic Link and importing the mp4 file as an asset - both result in the same problem). The video playback results in flickering lines and it's really distracting. Again, I am rendering in mp4 h.264 HDTV 24fps and burning onto 4.7GB DVDs. If I watch the video in Encore on the Monitor, it also looks a bit flickery with lines showing. The video I am trying to burn onto a DVD is 25 minutes long and 4GB (but Encore transcodes it so it's just over 1GB in size I think).
I am also trying to burn another video onto a DVD which again is rendered in h.264 but is 48 minutes and 11GB in size (Encore transcodes it so it's about 2.5GB) and the same thing happens: flickery lines which is really distracting.
I did briefly have a trial version of CS6 installed and I rendered the video again in Premiere Pro CS6 and tried burning to a DVD using Encore CS6, but still got the same results. I don't have CS6 now, I installed it purely to see if CS5.5 was the problem.
I don't understand why the first video I burned to DVD using Encore was perfect and now it seems to be giving me flickery video once it's burned to a DVD whenever I use it.
I have updated it to version 5.1.0.342 which at the time of writing is the latesrt version of CS5.1.
If anybody out there could help me that would be great, thanks!

Still flickering on Encore even when rendered in MPEG-2 DVD in Pemiere Pro CS5.5. Looks perfect in Premiere Pro.
    Any other ideas?
EDIT: Was looking for Google for people with similar problems to me and I came across this http://forums.adobe.com/message/3959757?tstart=0
I am currently re-rendering the video in PAL DV Widescreen MPEG-2 DVD and using maximum render quality.

  • Encore CS5 Menu Problems

Allow me to begin by saying thank you in advance for any and all help. Please know I am a marine biologist first and a video editor second so I'll apologize for my elementary questions.
2011 macbook pro, 8gb ram, all working files (connected assets) are on the hard drive, Panasonic BD burner connected firewire 800, Encore CS5
    This is a blu-ray project.
I have created a movie that has only 2 menus. The main menu and a chapter selction menu.
The menus have a video file playing in the background with text generated from the video editor appearing 10 seconds in. This menu is very basic...video background with 3 buttons overlayed on top placed where the text appears. Of these buttons, one plays the main movie, another plays a behind the scenes, and the last directs the user to the chapter selection menu.
The video files for the menu background were transcoded in Media Manager to Blu-ray h.264 and imported assets as .m4v video and .ac3 audio.
The actual movie files are also imported in this same manner and are working fine.
Preview works fine except where indicated below in the form of the background video being in poor quality.
    Problem:
When the disc is inserted into a blu-ray player, the main menu background video looks worse than standard def videos. At the loop point set for the buttons to "appear and activate" (10sec) the video freezes, screen turns black for just a split second (literally, split second) then re-appears normally with all buttons working fine, the video plays accordingly but is still in bad quality. The buttons work as supposed to and the movies they're connected to are brilliantly played in blu-ray quality without any problems.
On the chapter selection menu, the same applys to the background  video where it plays in poor quality but the problem here is again at the loop point but has a different action. At the time of the loop point (again 10sec) the video stops, then jumps back to the beginning of the Chapter menu and starts over again. It does this over and over, never allowing me to get to the buttons for chapter selection. It just loops back to the beginning of the same menu. The only way to stop this is to press the main menu button on the remote to get back to the main menu.
    So...2 things:
    1) howcome the background videos in the menus are in bad quality? Do know in the preview, the background videos are in the good quality sometimes. In other words, when I press the preview, sometimes the videos are shown in good quality, and sometimes they're not. I onced "fixed" it when it previewed in poor quality by disconnecting the wip to the asset, then reconnecting it. It played fine in the preview once but then the next time I previewed it, it was in poor quality.
    2) why are there 2 different glitches at the loop points on the menus. Both menus are identical in properties, not in asset connections. As a matter of fact, the chapter menu was created by copy/pasting the main menu, changing the assets, and using more buttons (these buttons were also copy/paste from the main menu buttons but have different links). Also know that in preview, the loop points work just fine and the buttons appear without a problem, but the video quality is diminished as with the main menu.
2 Burn processes tried and have identical problems:
I created discs using 2 methods and the problems are identical in both. I burned a blu-ray disc directly from Encore which exhibited these problems. I also made a folder and burned the BDMV file in Toast Titanium Pro 10 and also have these same identcal problems. I did make an .iso file also, but don't know how to test that on a blu-ray disc. I am using BD-RE discs so that I don't waste a lot of money.
Please help. I am in crunch time and have less than 2 weeks to complete this and get 100 discs burned.
Thank you again for reading this and for any and all help.
    Charlie

    Hi Charlie,
about loop point frezees (black video), no way out, sorry: this is an Encore CS5 bug and we all are waiting for the brand new CS5.5.
Jon Jeddes has tried to find a solution with other sws support but he met lot of difficulties.
About your low definition results, it could depend by many things.
Don't know Media Manager, but, usually, low definitions are related to low bitrates (check yours are at least 25 Mb per second).
    Hope this will help.

  • Encore CS5 Blu-Ray Preview Playback Issues / Authoring Issues

    Hello,
    I'm using Adobe Encore CS5 on a Mac Pro (Nehalem) 2 x 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon w/ 8 GB Ram on Mac OS X 10.5.8.
I've recently upgraded to CS5 after having no luck using CS3 to make Blu-Ray discs.  So far my experience has been a little disappointing -- it feels like they still haven't got it right.  Below is a list of my issues thus far -- perhaps some of you have run into similar things:
    - When importing MATROX encoded H.264 Blu-Ray files Encore CS5 hangs up.  I tried this with a 54 minute encoded file.  Instead I re-transcoded using the CS5 Media Encoder to the Main Concept H.264.  This worked fine, although the import still hung up for several minutes before anything made it's way into the project.
    - When I try opening my already existing project with a 54 minute video inside it hangs up and takes as long as 3-5 minutes to finally open successfully.  This seems to happen consistently.
    - After rendering motion menus and rendering them in the project the playback preview stutters.  It's very steppy throughout as the video plays in the background.  I even tried authoring a disc and playing it in a Blu-Ray player -- it did the same thing once authored.  I've tried re-encoding the video in Media Encoder and have found the problem persists.  Has anyone else experienced this with motion menus?  By the way, I'm transcoding @ 25mbps (max 30mbps) in the Media Encoder.
    - While trying to re-author my Blu-Ray the playback preview does not play audio on the main video when I click to play it.  I've tried re-importing the asset and previewing but this does not work.  I'm going to re-author the disc anyway to see if it plays right on the disc but can't understand why the preview doesn't work even if the Blu-Ray itself is fine (which it is).  I should add that the first time I authored this disc the audio was fine on the main video.  Preview was also fine.  So I'm not sure what's happening now - I haven't changed anything in the project.
    - Portions of my video on the authored video play back with slight stutter even though the source video (ProRes HQ QuickTime) does not.  Is this a problem with the Main Concept H.264 encode?  Should I try a 2-pass VBR transcode as another try (instead of 1-pass)?  My target bit rate is 25 mbps (with a max of 30 mbps).  That shouldn't be too high for a player to handle without stutter.  The stutter also happens in the same place every time so it makes me think it's the encode of the file itself that's the problem.
All in all these are mainly quirks about Encore that have begun to add up and frustrate me as a user.  It would be nice if these things just worked as they should.  But if anyone has ideas or can think of something I might be missing in all of this that would be great to hear.
    Thanks for reading.
    All the best,
    JD

As a follow up, I tried knocking down the number of chapters by 1/3 so there would be a total of 28 chapters instead of 41. As it turns out, the disc is still exiting the timeline and returning to the main menu at exactly the same point (which happens to be one second into a particular chapter of the timeline, just shy of 90 minutes into the timeline). It's as if Encore has split my single timeline into two timelines.
If it's of any help understanding what's happening, the entire timeline is 02;05;23;21 long. When Encore creates the Blu-ray disc, playback of the timeline ends at approximately 01;26;43;10. I then have to go to my Scenes menu and pick up where I left off as it's the only way to see the last ~39 minutes of the sequence.
As I mentioned, if I burn this as a standard definition (4.7GB) disc, it plays normally with no breaks. It's only if I burn it to a 25GB single-layer Blu-ray disc that I see the problem (using multiple Blu-ray players).
Thanks in advance for any light that can be shed on this problem.

  • How to make a Basic BD with Encore CS5

Are there any basic tutorials around that will step one through how to create a basic BD dvd with a simple menu in Encore CS5.  For the most part I've been using Nero 9/10 to create DVD's and BD discs, and it works well with Premiere but for H.264 files Nero always wants to transcode things when it doesn't need to (seems to work fine on MPEG-2 without transcode but it gets confused about H.264 files).  I notice in my clumsy attempts to make something out of Encore, it is very intelligent about what it does and does not need to transcode, even with H.264 files.
The problem is the interface in Encore is very confusing to me, and I can't really figure out what I'm doing.  Is there somewhere on the web that basically steps you through the process of creating a very simple DVD/BD disc with SIMPLE menus using Encore?
I think if I could get started it would all begin to make sense, but right now it just seems confusing.  Does the timeline represent the titles on the disc in a basic setup, for example?  Basically I don't understand much about Encore at all and I'm finding it very unintuitive to me.
    -Roger

I am also new to CS5, but doing what I did with CS3 works for a DVD

  • Encore CS5.5 Libraries - same, better than CS4?

Hey folks - just wondering whether Encore CS5.5 includes all the libraries we got in CS4. I'm on a Windows 7 64-bit machine and I'm running Prod Premium CS4 now. I just got the CS5.5 Prod Prem in the mail yesterday but I haven't installed it yet. My plan is to uninstall CS4 first since I don't anticipate needing it. But I am wondering about the Encore libraries.
Is there any reason to keep the CS4 libraries installed?
I ask because CS4 Prod Prem came with 4 disks + a Content Disk + a Learning Disk. CS5.5 includes just 4 disks total.
guess I'll find out when I install CS5.5, but I plan to uninstall CS4 first. So I wondered whether I should keep anything from CS4 on my machine.
Thanks for any light you can shed on this.
    And Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays!

I installed CS5 only on my new machine when I made the double upgrade (PC and CS5). I left CS3 and CS4 installed on my other machine. I find it handy, but primarily for testing questions other users have. I always use CS5 for work.
There have been a few issues where a bug is introduced and users say it helped to have CS4 as a workaround.
But if I were doing what you are doing today for a production only machine, I wouldn't bother to uninstall CS4. But I might pick that moment for a fresh install of Windows, in which case I would not install CS4.
I think Adobe had a strong recommendation not to install CS4 over CS5 (which you are not planning).
Once upon a time, the Encore libraries were apparently "extra" and installed from a disk called "functional content." The CS4 and CS5 functional content disk is NOT such content. When you install from disks, you automatically install the Encore libraries.
I can't compare CS4 and CS5 directly, but the Encore Library folder for CS3, CS4, and CS5 has files/folders respectively 1316/20, 1318/20, 1316/20. A "quick contents" compare in winmerge between CS3 and CS4 had only 4 differences (for example, CS3 used a mov and CS4 m2v for one of the motion menus).
The interesting (non)difference is that they do not appear to ahve changed the par of the menus form the pre-CS4 days. If you open any of the menus directly in Photoshop, it says the par appears to be incorrect and asks if you want to correct it. (I say no.) If you use "edit in photoshop" from Encore, CS4 and CS5 does not ask (it is obviously  making the correction, probably upon import to Encore). Encore CS3 makes no such adjustment.
What this means to me is the the Encore library menus are the old menus with the old pars. It doesn't matter much; there would be only a bit of distortion. I haven't tested to see if there is any. But for me it is evidence that the menus in CS5 are the same ones from at least CS3.
That said, you can simply copy the library folder to another location until you determine whether you need it.

  • Adobe Media Encoder and Encore CS5 Vs. CS5.5

    Hii,
I have a Tennis project that has both DSLR 720P (60) footage and HDV footage 1080 (60i) footage. I have tried  making a Bluy-ray disc in Encore 5.0 and it looks good. I tried encoding Blu-ray H.264 footage from PP CS5 and Importing this footage into Encore CS5 in a Blu-ray project. Then Transcoding to DVD format. The resulting Jaggies/Saw Tooth lines of the Tennis court are terrible looking. Looks good in Blu-ray format. I have made DVDs from straight HDV footage and those come out looking great. It is something to do with the combining the different footages.
My questiuon is did Adobe redesign the Media encoder or Encore in version 5.5. If so I would upgrade just to fix this problem. If not is there any good external Transcoding program that I can try? I have tried just about every known setting/Encode type in Media Encoder but non do a good job.
    Thanks,
    John Gerard

I think part of the problem is mixing 720p60 with 1080i60 for DVD production. Different steps have to be taken to change HD to SD when encoding to DVD. See: http://www.bellunevideo.com/tutdetail.php?tutid=10

  • Encore CS5 slideshow transitions not rendering reliably to DVD

I'm trying to create a relatively simple slideshow DVD in Encore CS5 on Mac (10.6).  The slideshow is about 35 images long, and most of the transitions are cross-dissolves.  However, there are exceptions: a couple of the transitions have no effect (ie, snap from one slide to the next).  All of the slides but one are manual advance.
The problem I'm having is that the cross-dissolve time (most are set to 3 seconds, vs. the default 2) seems to render as a variable length: hit the "next chapter" button on the DVD control, and the transition time might be the requested 3 seconds, but is occasionally zero seconds, or 1 second, or 2 seconds.  I haven't been able to find the rhyme or sense behind this, although I haven't devoted much time to studying it either.  The settings on each slide appear to be set correctly (ie, transition type set to "Cross-dissolve" and transition time set to 0:00:03:00) in the project.
An additional complication comes from the one autofollow slide in the show: it automatically advances as expected, but at the next manual transition, it cross-dissolves, appears to pop back to the image, then does the cross-dissolve again, finally ending up in the correct slide.
Due to project deadlines, I've given up trying to make this work in Encore and moved to a different product, but I'd appreciate any feedback on how to do this all correctly next time.

Many users have problems with Encore slideshows. The major advantage is the manual advance. I don't use them, so have little to offer.
The settings on each slide appear to be set correctly (ie, transition type set to "Cross-dissolve" and transition time set to 0:00:03:00) in the project.
I worry that your "set x:xx IN THE PROJECT" means that you have not checked each slide duration. It is possible to have a project setting, but for individual slides to have been set to something else.

  • Problem timing slides to audio in Blu-ray slideshow in encore cs5. Help!

I'm using a 2006 mac pro 1,1 with 7GB, and I'm trying to make a blu-ray slideshow with encore cs5. There is about 20 minutes of music for 99 slides. I click "fit slideshow to audio" and the time per slide increases to about 12 seconds, which is correct, and when I preview the slideshow it
plays back correctly. But when the blu-ray or image is burned, the slides last only about a second or two each and the audio cuts off abruptly at the end of the 99th slide. This project, by the way, has two slideshows which play one after the other. Both have the same problem.
Operating System: Mac OS X (v10.6.4)
Video display card / driver version: Quadro FX4500
I examined the blu-ray file streams created by encore cs5 with VLC. The slide transitions (cross dissolve) were about 2 megabytes each and played correctly, but the slides themselves seem too short at around 300kb and don't play back at all. Video Blu-rays work fine; the problem only shows up on blu-ray slideshows. When that same slideshow is burned as a dvd, by the way, it also works fine. What's going on?

I have just the same problem with Encore CS5 running on Windows 7 64 bit:
When i create a slide show with music, the length of music defines the
length of the slide show every thing works fine when i play the e show with preview
function in Encore. When i burn it on a blu ray disk it works fine
(in sync) playing the BD disk on the PC, but when i play the BD
when i play the BD disk on a BD player (Sony BDP-S300 or BDP-S470) the music
stops many seconds before the slide show is finished.
Burning the slide show with Encore on a DVD everything works correct.

Can Encore cs5.1 do auto chapters & display a thumbnail for each??? Please help...
Can it be a moving thumbnail? I see where it can create index marks at auto intervals but no associated thumbnail.
I've searched everywhere & cant seem to find this feature. Many other programs have this feature. Does Encore 5

Use a video thumbnail submenu for the first submenu, add the auto chapters, then use the chapter index feature:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/encore/cs/using/WS185296FB-D1BB-4d52-ABC4-316DF795FD05.html
Then make each submenu animate buttons. (Perhaps that last step can be done after the first submenu is added; not sure about that.)

  • To Adobe, Are We Going to See a Fixed Encore CS5?

I am posting this as a long time Adobe user.  I have installed the CS5 suite and am using Encore CS4 because when I import pre-encoded Blu-ray assets into Encore CS5 it says the disc is full.  The assets are not too large to fit on a Blu-ray.
I see a lot of problems posted in this forum and the general attitude is wait until a fix or CS6...  Well that is what was said about CS4...
I have submitted an error report on this issue a few weeks ago.  It would be nice to know if anything was being worked on as upgrades are supposed to be an evolution of the product.  Pardon my frankness but Encore seems as if it is an afterthought compared to the rest of the CS suite.
    Thank you.

I've been a long time beta tester and hadn't kept up with the retail price. I purchased the full version when I first started using it back in the Passport days, I think it was $299 back then.
I see the cheapest thing they have is "MusicTime Deluxe" (Encore Lite)  which is $120, oh well, I should've checked the price first.
