Encore: what does it take to get an input legal?

I know this is a bit off topic from Premiere SDK but since there is no Encore (highly technical) forum I thought it best to post here instead of emailing Zac directly (so that others may learn the answer).
My question is this:
Specifically, what does it take for Encore to NOT transcode an input video file for DVD (mpeg2) or BluRay (mpeg4) destination?
thx.

Let me know if you have any specific questions on the specs, or any files that are getting transcoded, and I can take a look.

  • What does it take to get an app on the Ovi store?

What does it take to get an app on the ovi store?  There are so many apps available that are not included in the ovi store.... like "s60spoton"  It allows you to use your cameras flash as a flash light! I've been wanting this forever.  If this app was easily available on the Ovi store, I would have been able to find it easily... but it was linked to me in a forum.
Why are there so many useful apps not cataloged in the Ovi store?

It's the maker of an apps responsibility to get it listed on the store so if it's not on there it's because the maker hasn't put it there.
Nokia cannot put apps on the store without the makers consent.
Only the maker/publisher of an app can tell you why their app isn't on the store. It may be for financial reasons, legal reasons, licensing issues, piracy concerns or they may just have ceased development and moved on.
The ovi store isn't the only source of applications and some developers prefer to use independant sites like www.getjar.com instead.

  • What does it take to get my service cancelled?

I am trying to find out what it will take to get my account cancelled... I called more than a week in advance of my move to set up the cancellation of my FIOS home service and was assured that was all I needed to do; I would receive my final bill in the mail. However, a week after I moved, my account was charged and my autopay paid my bill of nearly $200 for services this month in a home I no longer live in, for an account that should no longer be active. I called and spoke with no fewer than 12 agents over that week, including someone who after 43 minutes of being passed around HUNG UP on me! Finally I spoke with someone who was helpful and said my account was deactivated, and in about 14 business days I should get a refund check in the mail. Well, three weeks later, my account has still not been cancelled and I have not gotten my refund! I just called again and spoke with an agent who told me he couldn't help me and I needed to call back another office on Monday. It has been nearly a month since I moved and this account was supposed to be cancelled and I still cannot get anyone to just stop the account! What does it take at Verizon to end my service???

  • What does it take to get a 7232? Unacceptable on a new install....

I think it's absolutely absurd that Verizon FiOS doesn't provide you with the latest hardware on a new install.  They had the audacity to install a Motorola 6416 first.  It only took a few days to notice it's ancient specifications and miniscule hard drive.  A call to FiOS customer service assured me that I would be sent the latest (I was very specific of this) model with a 500GB hard drive overnight.  Great!  Fantastic response and no hassles by the rep.  Well today I open the box to find only a moderate upgrade to the Motorola 7216.  Glancing inside through the ventalation I can see that it has a 500 GB hard disk.  But really, Verizon?  When I siged up for Verizon Wireless, you didn't hand me a flip phone.
I understand having an upgrade process for existing customers.  If I had been a Verizon customer for a couple years I would gladly pay to upgrade to the latest device.  But for a brand new customer, they should give you the latest spec hardware.
I haven't even plugged in the 7216 they overnighted.  What can I do to get the right hardware for a new customer?

    Hello,
Many folks I know have the 7216 DVR and it has proven to be quite stable/durable as a set top box.
I have one at home and it has been great for the many years we've had it.
It even has an eSATA port at the back of it, which means I can hook-up an external hard drive to it if I need to do so for additional recording capacity.
Hence, the 7216 is satisfactory equipment for a new customer, and even luckier if you had received one with the 500 GB hard drive.
Have you noticed any issues with that 7216 STB that you had gotten in the mail?
If not, I would recommend keeping it. -- If it's not broken, don't fix it.

  • What does it take to get a military discount...

Okay, I went ahead and changed my plan to, surprisingly, a reduced price.  Had to call in to get it, since the website suggested I take the great deal of nothing much extra except the $20 increase in my monthly charge.  I was on the site trying to figure out how to REDUCE the charge!!  Anyway, a customer service rep helped me out by phone and I am happy with that.  Didn't need unlimited data anyway, but got 500MB which is good for my wife and I.  Don't need unlimited voice and SMS either, but this ended up being the cheapest (wouldn't mind a smaller, less costly Share All package...)
Now I am trying to get the military discount as a retired army type person.  I went to the nearest Verizon with my DD214 and ID card, was greeted a the door and put on a waiting list.3 hours later I was still number 3.  I don't have time for that.
So I went home and tired on line.  Verizon doesn't make it easy for a retired military person to get the discount.  The discount page, which mentions the discount, is set up for corporate discounts.  So I put in the information asked for along with my AKO email address.  Got a message with a link that didn't work.  So I call to customer service.
The guy I talked to had me go through the whole process again, even though I repeatedly told him that this pathway was the exact same dead end.  He "knowingly" told me to keep going.  Well, guess what happened.  "Surprisingly" I got a message with a link that didn't work.
He directed me to another link that asked for a pay stub.  SUPPOSEDLY a DD 214 was good enough to get my discount!!!  I asked about that and he told me I needed a pay stub.  I know better, or at least I think I do.  Anyway, I uploaded by DD 214 instead.
Now I have been told that my PAY STUB was not valid for a discount.  My next question is pretty simple...  Did ANYONE READ the document?  Next question...  WHAT are the requirements?  IS A DD 214 SUFFICIENT?  According to the lady at the store it IS.
Is there any page on the Verizon discount webpage maze where I can submit a DD 214 to a PERSON who will read it?
Would it be possible for a webmaster to simplify the maze for military discounts?
I am doing all this in an attempt to get Verizon down to an acceptable cost level.  I am already looking elsewhere and doing the math and if I don't get this discount I will be heading to another carrier.
5 year customer, shaky on year 6

        Hey there alfromcolorado,
I want to start off by thanking you for your continued support to our country. Verizon Wireless and I appreciate all that you and your fellow service men and women do. Keep up the great work. I absolutely want to make sure that you are receiving the proper discounts.
The DD 214 is a valid document and I apologize that you have had some troubles uploading it. If the website is giving you issues I would recommend taking your DD 214 into one of our corporate store locations. I know that 3 hours is a long time to wait, but I can assure you that is not the normal wait time at a store location. Visit http://bit.ly/3SdsA to find the closest store location to you.
I am confident that we can get your discount added and continue our relationship for years to come. Thanks again for all that you do.

  • What does it take to get a VZW Customer Service Rep to call you back?? READY TO CANCEL SERVICE OF 4 LINES!

Has anyone else had problems with VZW customer service? I have been lied to repeatedly and am on the verge of terminating my contracts. To begin, I sent my daughters, who are authorized users, into the store - which is 40 minutes from my house- to upgrade and renew 2 lines. I called Apple to upgrade initially, but my account has a corporate discount, so they were unable to upgrade my lines of service. I called the closest VZW store, again 40 minutes away, spoke with the sales associate DUSTIN. I told DUSTIN exactly what I wanted and advised that my daughters would be in to upgrade the lines.
When my daughters arrived, there were 2 people in line ahead of them. As the other customers were taken care of and left, it became closing time. Another representative approached DUSTIN telling him he did not "need to do all that, just hurry and get them out". YES!!! The other rep told him to hurry and get the sale out of the store!!! WHO PAYS YOUR BILLS? WHO PROVIDES YOU WITH THAT PAYCHECK AND COMMISSION MONTHLY?? YES, we the customer do!!!
Next, DUSTIN brought out a selection of cases, car chargers and screen protectors from the back of the store advising my daughter to "pick one", as he presented the selection of cases to her. She advised she did not want or need the cases or other items he was offering. He told her the case and screen protector "comes with it". HE LIED to her!! This is unethical and deceptive!! It was not until she arrived home, after being rushed out of the store, she noticed the additional charged for the case and screen protector - which was supposedly included.
I called VZW *611 immediately. I spoke with a gentleman named CASEY who empathized with me and stated he would forward this information to his manager to have his manager contact me. I have waited for a return call and have not received one. If I do not hear back from VZW today, I am returning 2 lines of service, cancelling all 4 lines and taking my service to a carrier that will do what they promise and not unethically obtain sales from paying customers.
The bonus to this story- my daughter is a minor! Not only did he manipulate and lie, but did so to a child!!! I have been a VZW customer for over a decade. When I cancel my service, everyone will know why. In addition, I talked my LARGE corporation into obtaining corporate accounts with VZW. I can assure you, that will also be revoked.
    Best Wishes

Sadly, i've had a few unethical issues of my own and i'm an adult. I do think there was some responsiblity on the daughters' part to verify what they were paying for before leaving the store even though you made an honest attempt to have things laid out prior to their arrival. In regards to VZW's service, It has declined horribly over the past few years. I've been a customer since they were orignally a company called PrimeCo and I'm on the verge of switching providers myself. I had a defective phone that was replaced 6 times in one year..the store manager called me out the blue to apologize for the defective phones and offered me a free upgrade at no charge. He NEVER told me that he was extending my contract and treating it like a normal upgrade. I didn't find out until i went for my New Every Two purchase. I also received a letter stating they were discontinuing the New Every Two Program, but i still would be able to use my last upgrade on my next purchase. Of course when the renewal period came around, there was no such record of the offer and I got nothing. It's now time to renew my contract again and upgrade, but as before, there is absolutely no incentive for me doing so. I'm still going to pay the same as any new customer that walks through the door, still paying an activation fee, and i don't have unlimited everything like most other providers are currently offering. So please tell me again WHY i would want to renew my contract and purchase a new phone from Verizon when i can go elsewhere and get all types of perks???
All in all, i truly sympathize with you and as of today, i'm looking to purchase a new phone this afternoon with another provider.

  • UPDATE - What does it take to get Firefox 28 to play videos on YouTube?

Searching support for two nights has led me to an answer because the help is outdated. I have been unable to find support for Firefox 28.
YouTube videos will not play using Firefox on my new desktop computer. I downloaded Flash player (version 12 something) using Firefox 28 after YouTube told me I needed it. After doing that, videos would play for a few seconds, then a message would appear telling the video would not play with a "Learn More" link. The help was too vague to help.
I have Windows 7 Home Professional, security software, etc.
I have uninstalled the Flash plugin until I get a better handle of what I need to know to better troubleshoot this. YouTube videos will play when I use IE 11 without downloading a plugin.
    Thanks you in advance.

    Thank you for the replies.
While I still have Firefox 28 installed, I have NOT re-installed Flash plugin. And guess what, videos on YouTube play just fine, for now, in Firefox. They also play well in my other browsers, too.
If I do ever download and install Flash plugin again, I will refer to the the replies I have received here.
If anyone else has any insight on my post, please post a reply.
    Thanks again for the replies.

  • What Does It Take To Get A Speed Reduction?

I had a lot of problems with my download speed earlier this year, but since the last engineer's visit, my line has be fairly stable and I have been getting a download speed of around 1.5mbps.
I can go for weeks at this sort of level and get no problems. Then, like tonight, I get a single, momentary loss of sync and my download speed is immediately cut in half. It can then take several days to come back up to normal.
So my question is, why is the BT  system so sensitive that it trashes your speed for days as a result of a single blip on the line somewhere? Surely the system should not trash a connection for a single sync loss event. I could understand it if I were getting lots of disconnection, but I'm not.  Is there some sort of sensitivity setting that can be set on the system to stop this sort of unreasonable action being taken for what seems like such a trivial event.
    Thanks.

    inchindown
you are totally correct one bad sync lowers your IP profile and staying connected at that low sync is a total waste of time, if I did that my connection would be at 135kbs all the time but with a target margin of 9db and a noise margin reading 16+db.
When this happens the best thing to do is wait for the noise margin to rise above your target margin and then reset the connection, this is fine so long as you do not do it too oftenm I suggest leaving 10 minutes between resets, I have done this hundreds of times to no ill effect when REIN mucks up my sync rate. Obc you get back to a normal sync rate at least the countdown to the IP profile change can start.
If you want your speed lowered and are willing to lose 3db of speed then you can achieve this yourself, simply unplug the adsl cable around 10 times in the space of 1 hours (letting it sync in between) and the target margin should rise by 3db,
Personaly however I woudl suggest you would be better switching to a router that allows you to in effect adjust the targer margin yourself, the billion 7800N being one such.

  • What does it take to get promotional bill credit applied?

I've contacted customer service three times for a total of 90 minutes spent on the phone with them.  All I'm looking to do is get Verizon to follow through on the promotion of $150 per line credit for each data line ported.
1st CALL--"We filled out a form and you should hear something in 7-10 days."  GUESS WHAT?!  Nothing happened in 7-10 days.
2nd CALL (21 days after the 1st call)--"We're so sorry.  You're right, we owe you $600.  I've escalated this to my supervisor and they'll call you in 48 hours."  GUESS WHAT?!  No supervisor called in 48 hours.  Really, they never called at all.  I had to call them.
3rd CALL (4 days after the 2nd call)--"I have to fill out a form.  You'll hear something in 7-10 days.  I'll email you a copy of the form I filled out"  GUESS WHAT?  I never received an email of the form.
Why do I have to do all of the work to get Verizon to follow through on this?  How many times will I have to call and have the same form filled out and have Verizon not follow up?  How long is this going to take (it has been 5 billing cycles)?

Clearly our assistance is needed here BORea! This is taking way too long to get completed. Allow us to look into the status of the port-in credit for you. If you can send us a private message then we can gather some info a begin. We're looking forward to your reply.

  • What does it take to get the service I pay for?

In the past 2 1/2 months or so, my DSL service has been about as reliable as a politician's promise, in other words, not at all. When I first called, I must have gotten lucky, because I actually talked to someone who spoke understandable English, and who, after I told him that I was not a computer novice, gave up on the "reboot your computer and reboot the modem" garbage (I had done all the basic troubleshooting tests prior to calling) He also tried to tell me that the problem was in my home wiring, but when informed that the problem existed with a direct connection to the network interface, dropped that attempt.. He determined that the problem was my modem, and after I refused to place an order for one through Verizon, finally decided to send me a new one at no cost. I also was promised a credit on my bill for the time I had no service. After several days, a package arrived, and it contained a modem / wireless router combo. I installed it, did the set ups, and had some strange results on the network status page including it telling me that the broadband was connected and the internet was continually attempting to connect. I was able to access the internet, but knowing that this is was not right, called tech support again. This time I reached the proverblal "Peggy" who I could not understand. After asking him to repeat himself many times, and then asking if there was someone who actually spoke understandable Engilsh (and his refusal to connect me to anyone else)  I finally gave up. I had to leave town on business for a few days, and while I was away, my wife called to tell me I had a package delivered. It turns out that this was a second modem/ router with a note (demand) that I return the first one within a short period of time, or be charged some outlandish fee. I installed the second replacement, including changing the wiring and power supply, and set the wireless up again.  It seemed to work better, than the first one. I am still having quite a few problems. The internet will drop out  with no rhyme or reason, sometimes it will show the broadband connected and the internet not, sometimes (and this is really bad) is shows that the internet is connected but the broadband is disconnected. Seeing as the broadband is needed for an internet connection, this really makes no sense. When the internet cuts out, I often have to unplug the connection from the modem, plug it into the phone (phone line is not normally hooked up) make a call of some kind, even to my own number) and then plug the cable back into the modem. I usually will get internet back then, sometimes for thirty seconds, sometimes for several hours. On my last call for support, I was told by a so called supervisor that if they were to send someone out to check things, they would be converting me to FIOS (something I do not want to do for many reasons, including the attiude and trespassing of a FIOS installer trying to run cables across my yard where there is no easement, rather than running them in the easement which was further. The bill credits I was promised?  They are like Verizon reliablity, they are missing. Is there any reason I should not change to another carrier after being with Verizon for over 20 years?

I just spent 2 hours on a chat with them... Turns out... He says I have High Speed Internet, I say I have High Speed Internet Enhanced He tells me I should be happy with my speed test, I tell him I should be receiving what I am paying for and it is beneath the 3.1 Mbps to 7.0 Mbps I am paying for. He says the repair service cannot see my account stuff only billing. I insist I am paying for High Speed Enhanced. 2 hours in I am told that Repair is arguing with Billing over what service I have. I tell him Billing will win. He finally calls me direct, and am told to close the chat. I am told I am correct all along and will receive credit to my account for them not giving me the proper speed for years of service I paid for and did not receive. -------- I could not understand half of what he was saying to me. He says he will not e-mail me any information. I have no clue his name because try as I might I could not understand him. He says it will resolve in a few days and they will contact me.  This is service? I should now take the word of a company that has underserved me for years, from a guy on the other side of the world who cannot be understood and who is unitelligible over the phone, that won't send me any of the information via e-mail and had me intentionally close the chat session that they will properly resolve this issue.

  • What does it take to get Best Buy to do the right thing?

I brought my laptop in with a hard drive that was beginning to show problems and asked that they transfer all of the media onto a new drive and install it. I further asked that they not install any new software only keep the original software that was on the laptop. This was noted on the receipt. But because the employee charged me $200 for a years technical service including additional virus protection that he wrote on the receipt that I asked not to include. He now says I did not ask for the correct service. Do you think he sold me the wrong one? One that can't be refunded and gets him a kick back? Do you think just maybe he was expecting me to roll over and pay the additional fee to then transfer the data when I picked up the laptop?
I have already contacted two customer service representatives from corporate that have promised same day return phone calls. I have not heard back from either! Tomorrow I forward all information that I have on this case to the news and to the State Attourney's office. It is my belief at this point that Best Buy has no intention of providing customer service only in delaying, frustrating and hopefully causing those they can to give up. I will not give up, you have my computer, my hard drive, my USB back up, my software, my money and continue to deplete my valuable time. Having been a formerly good customer and owning a business that recommends technology to senior citizens it will be my pleasure to post the poor performance of the technical service, customer service and corporate response to local issues in Melbourne Florida.

    Greetings TecntEz,
Parting with a computer for any length of time can be difficult, so I can imagine how frustrated you must feel. I'd be disappointed too if I found myself in a similar situation, especially if there was any confusion regarding what fees might be applicable.
Under normal circumstances, customers who request in-store hardware installation, operating system installation, and data transfer services will be quoted separate prices for each of these stand-alone services. Based on what you mentioned though, it sounds as though the staff at our Melbourne store offered to perform all three services under a new Geek Squad Tech Support (GSTS) membership as a courtesy instead -- a significant savings over purchasing them separately. GSTS plans also do not typically include data transfer or backup, and customers must pay an additional fee for these services.
That being said, I was able to locate your work order using the e-mail address you used to reigster for the forum and can confirm that instructions were left for technicians to not install the antivirus program provided with your GSTS membership. Jessica, the rep you spoke with earlier today, has reached out to the store's management team on your behalf to confirm what work was done on your computer, as well as to obtain clarification on the fees you paid earlier this week. While we cannot guarantee an immediate response, rest assured that either Jessica or I will be in touch with you as soon as additional information is available.

  • Possibly dumb new user question: What does it take to get variables to show up in the variables reporting tab?

I've been a LabVIEW user (2011) for about 1.5 years now and just got ahold of TestStand 2014 to try out as a structure for our future test needs.
I've been using it on and off for about 3 days and there's something that's been driving me nuts.  When I run a sequence and the report comes up at the end, there's three tabs on it:  Report, Steps, and Variables.  Report and Steps are exactly what I expect to see.   However, the Variables tab is always blank.  Nothing I have found via my technique of checking everything in the menus that looks vaguely related and right-clicking things on many objects and checking those menus for other vaguely related things as well.
I tried searching for references to it, and everything I get relates to the "Main" variables tab that you see when editing the sequence, not the one that comes up on the report.
See the arrow in the picture below:
I suspect there's something incredibly obvious that I am missing but it's driving me nuts here...
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You won't see that populated when an execution is complete. The variables are worthless at that point.
If you want to see that tab populated pause the execution in the middle.  Or set a breakpoint.  Then you can look at the variables at run time.

  • Exactly what does it take to get a noise margin (l...

Last weekend the broadband (superfast fibre) failed , nothing , just the modem going through the different sequences constantly without recconecting , I got through BT who after an exhaustive series of tests announce a "big" fault on the main line . I was told that engineers would be on the case next day and they would call me to check confirm it was sorted by 4.30 pm , no call came and although the broadband had come back on ,it was very inconsistant jumping wildly from between 1 or 2 mb to about 18mb (thats less than half of what I had been gettin for the 2-1/2 months) I called again and was told it was sorted ,and an engineer was appointed to visit next morning ,after being read line and verse  regarding me footing the bill if the problem was on my premisis . anyway ,the engineer came and after many checks he could find no line faults but did mention the router seemed a bit suspect , he explained that the line would be automatically capped to half speed after a fault was detected and said he would arrange (request) a reset.
next morning ,off it goes again ,nothing for two hours and ,  after trying everything I switched the two ethernet cables to different ports ,and it was up and running again , though still at half speed , contacted BT again and they did another series of checks , again they said there was a major fault on the line ,and an engineer was booked again for a home visit .
this time the engineer while running a line test noticed the router was on a solid blue light dispite being disconnected fron the line ,and decided to fit a new one ,problem solved , fired up right away ,internet was much more responsive ,but the line was steady but half speed at 18.75 ish mb .he said (again) he would put down on the "job" that it required a reset and told me he would also request it personally as soon as he got back .  3 days later no sign of the reset and its constantly in the 18-19mb range , before for the entire 2 and a half months it worked it was a solid 37+mb  never once saw it go below 37mb and I do regular speed checks ,about 1 per week .
can anyone here advise ,how to get it reset , anyone at bt seems uninterested ,do I need to stop my direct debit payment before they respond ???

I bow to your expertize ,but the wireless has allways been competely disabled since i first had broadband and during the 2 and a half months I have been on infinity with absolutely no instability and as i mentioned before a rock solid 37mb line , no dropouts, no line variation , no disconnects, (peak or offpeak) until last saturday when the broadband went off ,since then its been a nightmare , 1 minute there is a problem on the main line ,then there is not , everyone from BT I spoke to gave a different story , there are no wifi devices anywhere near my home or in it , both  2.4 and 5ghz and bt-wifi(fon) have allway been disabled in my home .
but to give BT the benifit of the doubt ,I will give them 10 days , before withdrawing my custom .
    thanks for the advice .

  • What does it take to get Verizon's attention?

I don't want to talk to a "community forum." I want to notify Verizon of a problem. I cannot access online chat - "all the customer reps are busy." Emailing Verizon is apparently not an option. Thinking seriously about taking my business elsewhere. Does Verizon give a ****?

So what exactly is the problem?
