Encrypted SD Card

Hi,
I have a SD card in my Q10 and I encrypted it.
A few days ago, there was a message after the Q10 was restarted "your media card was encrypted on another device.  To usethe media card in this device, go to your Storage and Access settings and format the media card"
I did not take my SD card out of the Q10, so I don't understand why the the message comes up that the card was encrypted on another device.
Would appreciate any advice, I can see the files in the SD Card, but I can't open the files on my Q10 or on my PC.
Thank you.

Unfortunately, I have the same problem with the encryption.
I have a user and his BlackBerry is broken. There was a media card wich was encrypted by our Enterprise Server. Now we can no longer use a new device with this media card. The user needs the data from it. Anybody an Idea to solve this Problem. i Know the old device Password.
Thanks for your help
You need the device in what it was encrypted in, and also the same OS, and that mean if the OS was reloaded or wiped then it will not work as the encryption key is in a protected file accessible to the OS only and it is created when you start the encryption.
To summerize, every time that you wiped or reload the OS, a new key is created in the device, and to be able to acces the data on the card after a wiped, you must first decrypt the card and then wipe/reload the OS or change the deivce

  • Transfer files of an encrypted media card to another BB Q10 via BBM connection

Hi, I want to transfer files from my encrypted media card (encrypted by using my device password) via BBM to another BB Q10. Will the receiving party require a decryption password to read a file? Can a file from my encrypted media card be displayed on the receiving party's BBQ10 after transfer at all?
    Many thanks in advance

Yes, it will be displayed if you send it from that device. NO de-encryption needed for pictures via BBM.
    What type file is this?

  • API for decrypt the encrypted credit card details

    Hi Friends,
Is there any PLSQL API for decrypt the encrypted credit card detail in oracle application R12.
    Thanks,

First, to prevent this from happening again, turn off "In App purchases" in the Restrictions settings on your iPad. You may also want to turn off the ability to install apps, to prevent purchases in case the child gets hold of your iTunes Store account information, and set the password to be required immediately. For more information, see:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4213
As to a refund, that's not automatic since the terms of sale for the iTunes Store state that all sales are final. You can contact the iTunes Store, explain the reason for your request, and ask, though:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact.html
They're usually pretty lenient in the case of inadvertent purchases by children. No guarantees, though, just as if your child was in a store and ate a bunch of food (in other words, something that can't just be returned).
    Good luck.

  • Cannot encrypt microSD card

I need to have encryption turned on on my phone because of my companies Exchange account policy. I did that without a problem. Now I just got an SD card and I would like to use it but the phone odes not accept it because it needs to be also encrypted. Unfortunately, when I follow the instruction on the phoe, the device restarts but never encrypts the card, getting the same "card needs to be encrypted" message after reboot. Any ideas?

Hi, I have the same need for encryption of my Z2, but i haven't tried so I'm not sure if i can encrypt my SD card. My question is can I later decrypt it without factory reset which would erase all my data and setttings? If there's a possiblity, I would encrypt the phone to use my company exchange ativesync account.
    Could anybody help?
    Hi,
No you can't remove encryption without performing a factory reset of the phone. The factory reset will result in your not being able to access any data on the SD card if this is also encrypted - you will have to reformat the SD card in this case. This is unlike the Samsung Galaxy series where you can decrypt an encrypted device (not sure about the SD card though!)
If you are considering encryption please be aware of the issue I posted  a few days ago wrt the Movies application - the phone will hang and need a reboot if you allow the screen to lock for any signifcant period with the Movies app running. Also be aware that the backup function included with PC companion does not work with encryption. You can however copy files using explorer to your PC.
Finally factory resetting  (necessary to remove encryption) appears to invalidate any movies that you have previously downloaded due to DRM. You will have to download them again. Backing them up using Windows Explorer does not appear to work

  • Encrypted Sd card on BB Q10 now cant use it!!

Hey! I did the mistake and encypted my SD card on my BB Q10. One day i woke up and the phone just died on me. I tried everything to bring it back to life but the only life it gets is when i plug the charger into the phone without a battery the let light turns on for less than a second. Thats it! So i bought a new BB Q10 and now my SD card doesnt work. It is only device password protected. NOT KEY! what do i do i have many pictures and files that i need to access asap!! Please help!! Thanx in advance

"Encryption is a form of security that turns information, images, programs, or other data into unreadable cipher by applying a set of complex algorithms to the original material. These algorithms transfer the data into streams or blocks of seemingly random alphanumeric characters. An encryption key might encrypt, decrypt, or perform both functions, depending on the type of encryption software being used."  -http://www.wisegeek.org/what-is-an-encryption-key.htm
The Encryption key was left on your old Q10 so you cant access your media card without that.

Will Verizon stop encrypting iPhone sim cards so users can surf and talk simultaneously?

I can prove that this is not the case. I travel abroad monthly and have sim cards for these 2 countries i frequent and i can surf and talk at the same time. The claim that it needs another antenna does not support my findings. Can we be more transparent please. As a costumer i find it highly inconvenient to have to hang up a call with someone just to access an email.

  • Encrypt memory card data

How can I encrypt files on memory card so if phone is stolen data can't be read?
Using  device encryption is useless, I think. Is password encription the only way?
    Many thank, Bye Tom

The process varies according to your OS release on the device, but check Options > Security > General Settings and set your password and see what options you have there. You should find one for encryption to include the media card.

  • Encrypted SD Card / Double Encryption

    Dear all,
I've problem with my Q5 after changing my SD Card.
So my previous SD Card was full and I decided to buy a new one. To copy all the files I placed the old card in my laptop and inserted the new one on my BB and plug it via USB to my PC. Then I copied the files from the old SD card to the new (via usb/BB Link).
In the process I also upgraded firmware from 10.2 to 10.3.
My BB is encrypted with device+password.
Result: can't read 5 years of pictures an videos (I've been moving the old SD Card from previous BB).
What I think the problem is: the files in the 'old sd card' where encrypted and as I copied them from my PC to the BB they where re-encrypted making them unreadable.
So any clues to solve this problem are most welcome.
    Regards,

I'm not sure. I think you should be able to do what you did, but I haven't done it that way, so I'm not sure.
What I do is use Link to copy files to the computer. Files are decrypted when copied to the computer. Then I put the new memory card in the BlackBerry and use Link to copy the files back to the device. The device encrypts the files.
What I would do if I were you is put the old card back in the device and do what I describe. It will probably take a while. Balance that against the time you will spend trying to figure out why what you're doing isn't working.
And by the way, you say you have encryption set to device +password. On BBOS there was a setting to use device key, password, or both. That setting is not on BB10, so I wonder what you mean. And FYI, there is a key on the device. If you wipe the device you won't be able to read the encrypted card. I imagine a destructive OS install will have the same result.

  • Cannot Format Encrypted SD Card?

    Hi guys,
I have an SD card, which I formatted as (Journaled, Encrypted), and forgot the password. Now I would like to use the card again, but I am not able to format it, because I cannot mount it on my Mac. Is there a way to do that?

I had the same problem...  Excite 7.7
Would not read my brand new 16gb Scandisk... nor the 8gb out of my ZeniTab.
It did read an old 2gb out of my old cell phone running Froyo.
So... I used the Zenith Tablet to "Erase" the 8gb - - then tried it in my Exite, and it WORKED!
So - - I took the NEW 16gb and erased it using my old tablet as well.
    Everything works now.

  • Credit Card Encryption through RFC calls to third party software

    Dear All,
I am working on credit card encryption in CRM. At our firm, we have SAP R/3 which is integrated with third party server for performing credit card encryption using RFC calls. We want to perform similar thing in SAP CRM. I was looking into SAP standard mechanism to perform encryption and it seems they use class CL_PCA_SECURITY -> External Encryption to encrypt credit card. Are there any BADIs available for me to change behaviour of this call and call our listeners (for third party server) instead of what standard SAP is calling. Here is what in the code:
    call C function 'SSFENVELOPE'
      CALL 'SSF_ABAP_SERVICE'                                 "#EC CI_CCALL
           ID 'OPCODE'             FIELD   SSF_OPCODES-ENVELOPE
           ID 'SECTOOLKIT'         FIELD   SSFTOOLKIT
           ID 'STRFORMAT'          FIELD   STR_FORMAT
           ID 'STRFORMATL'         FIELD   STR_FORMAT_L
           ID 'BINENC'             FIELD   B_INENC
           ID 'IOSPEC'             FIELD   IO_SPEC
           ID 'OSTRINPUTDATAL'     FIELD   OSTR_INPUT_DATA_L
           ID 'STRPAB'             FIELD   STR_PAB
           ID 'STRPABL'            FIELD   STR_PAB_L
           ID 'STRPABPASSWORD'     FIELD   STR_PAB_PASSWORD
           ID 'STRPABPASSWORDL'    FIELD   STR_PAB_PASSWORD_L
           ID 'OSTRENVELOPEDDATAL' FIELD   OSTR_ENVELOPED_DATA_L
           ID 'CRC'                FIELD   CRC
           ID 'OSTRINPUTDATA'      FIELD   OSTR_INPUT_DATA-SYS
           ID 'RECIPIENTLIST'      FIELD   RCPTAB-SYS
           ID 'OSTRENVELOPEDDATA'  FIELD   OSTR_ENVELOPED_DATA-SYS
           ID 'STRSYMENCRALG'      FIELD   STR_SYM_ENCR_ALG
           ID 'STRSYMENCRALGL'     FIELD   STR_SYM_ENCR_ALG_L.

    Vivek,
While it may be technically possible to accomplish what you are suggesting (leveraging the encryption functionality provided by your third-party server) I would recommend strongly that you consider a token-based solution instead.  You can learn more about tokenization on this [blog|/people/eric.bushman4/blog/2009/01/02/tokenization-as-a-means-of-securing-credit-card-numbers ].
There are many reasons why a token-based solution is superior to using application specific encryption (as outlined in the blog), but specifically in the case you describe where an SAP CRM and SAP R/3 are involved there is one specific reason to consider:
When order data is replicated between SAP CRM and SAP R/3 the systems will attempt to decrypt the credit card numbers prior to passing the data and therefore the RAW card number will be stored in the middleware logs.  This is especially true when using SAP's native credit card encryption logic in the CRM and R/3-ECC applications.
For example, let's say a user enters a credit card as the form of payment during Order Creation in CRM.  At Order Save the system will send the credit card information to your third-party server for an authorization attempt and the results will be returned to CRM.  As the Order is saved and committed to the CRM database the standard SAP encryption functionality can be leveraged to encrypt the card data.  Based on your middleware configuration, eventually the Order data (including the credit card details) will be sent to the R/3 or ECC system.  In order to do so the CRM system will first decrypt the card number meaning that the CRM middleware logs will contain RAW card numbers.  When the Order is created in R/3 or ECC the native credit card encryption functionality in R/3 or ECC could be used to encrypt the card number prior to the Order being stored in the database.
Should you choose to use a third-party server you may find, depending on how the third-party vendor's logic works in SAP, that you must utilize a BADI to decrypt the card number in CRM so that the CRM middleware has a RAW card and so that when the Orders is saved in the R/3 or ECC system it can be encrypted again with the third-party vendor solution.  In either case the RAW card number is present in all systems for some period of time and potentially stored in logs thus exposing your systems to risk and greater PCI audit scrutiny.

  • E72 memory card encryption

Setting up card encryption goes through the motions but appears to instantly encrypt the card! Given memory encryption takes a few minutes, it looks like nothing actually happens. Indeed, trying to decrypt the card doesn't do anything! Haven't yet tried to read the card in another device, but I suspect it isn't. Other reportson the net concur with this. Given that encryption was one of the main reasons for looking at this phone, this is a bit of an issue.
    Mark Enderby

Having updated to 31.023 and going through a hard reset. The system now says that the card encryption is "off". Have switched it on again and the effect is the same. System says card is encrypted - but nothings actually happened!

  • Encyption of credit card in Sales Order

    Hi,
Scenario : Customers are ordering against Credit card on the web .Once the customers orders on web it  gets cerated in CRM and subsequnly replicated in R/3.
Issue:after getting reautorisation from clearing house ,we deleted credit card information and re - entered it in the order to get re authorised. But system did not encrypt credit card number in the order.
Can you please let me know what could be the reason and solution for resolving this issue.
    regards,
    Sachin

    Hi sachin,
    Goto SPRO>SD>Billing>Payment Cards>Maintain Card Types
You should see all card types you already declared.
Next to description, there is a field called 'Check'.
I think if you assign a module for each card, it'll check card number such as VISA has to start with 45....MASTER has to start with 54...., etc.
According to the help menu, it says:
Payment cards: Function for checking the card
Contains the names of the function used by the system to check card numbers.
    Use
You may type in a card number incorrectly or the customer may give you a wrong number. To avoid having to go through a lengthy authorization process with an incorrect number, you enter a function here that the system uses to check the number to make sure that it corresponds to general numbering standards, or the standards of a specific card company.
    Procedure
Define and enter one of your own card checking functions in Customizing, or use one of the four contained in the standard system (function group V21A). These are:
CCARD_CHECK_LUHN_MOD_TEN - Runs a general check of the card number, for example, for a valid length and combination of digits. This is the industry standard check.
CCARD_CHECK_MC - Checks MasterCard numbers for a valid leading digit. The system also carries out the LUHN_MOD_TEN check.
CCARD_CHECK_VISA - Checks Visa card numbers for a valid leading digit. The system also carries out the LUHN_MOD_TEN check.
CCARD_CHECK_AMEX - Checks Amercan Express card numbers for a valid leading digit. The system also carries out the LUHN_MOD_TEN check.
if you give me brief i can help you out more.

  • Credit card number field in sales order

    Hi Friends,
Can we configure this field so that it only retains the card number as xxxx1234 (last 4 digits.  Currently we have full visibility to customer card data to anyone who has SD display access in sales order.

    Sree,
I'd suggest you have a look at OSS note 766703.  SAP has functionality for encrypting credit card number and note 766703 is an FAQ that references notes related to that functionality.  You'll find reference to notes that discuss how to activate the "masking" of the card number - which is what you describe.  Once you've implemented those notes you'll be able to have all execpt the last several digits of the card number masked with '*'.
