Enhanced internet snails pace

I thought I would post this before switching to Comcast. I recently upgraded to "enhanced". I am told the best speed that I could purchase was 1.1 to 3.0 mbps. After the "upgrade" I went from .79 to .97. I called the off shore support, and actually spoke to an intelligent rep. After about 30 minutes my speed was 2.84. I was thrilled.Each day for the past week the speed has dropped, and now I am at 1.28. I tried calling support again, and after nearly and hour on the phone "reading the script" I asked for a supervisor or another rep. I wasw disconnected with no call back.There is no one that you can talk with to explain your problem to. What happened in Verizon's Co that cut my speed?I can't purchase Fios, and I can't talk with a live person. Is going to Comcast my only solution?

Step one: Visit http://www.giganews.com/line_info.html and post up the Traceroute the page shows, if you wish. Be aware that your non-bogan public IP Address will show up. It might shown up as the final hop (bottom-most line of the trace) might contain a hop with your IP address in it. Either remove that line or show only the first two octets. What I'm looking for is a line that mentions "ERX" in it's name towards the end. If for some reason the trace does not complete (two lines full of Stars), keep the trace route intact.

Adobe Media Encoder Slows Encoding Process to Snails Pace

I am having real issues when exporting from After Effects CC to Media Encoder CC or when I import directly from AME. It happens on one particular comp and visibly slows to a snails pace in the output preview at the same point every time. I have gone into the project to see if there is anything untoward but I don't see anything out of the norm. It's a 6 minute animation with some video. I have 6 projects like this, each one contains the same mix of images and video and each is approx 6 mins. These took no more than 40mins each to export through AME, this one however has taken 3hours already and is only halfway through. This is the 3rd time I've tried to export it - any advice??
One thing I did do was clear my cache and memory in order to resolve an issue where after effects was trying to replace a font that it thought was missing. Not sure if that could have caused this. Has anyone else seen or experienced this?

First thing to check is what is on the Timeline at about the 50% point. Do you have an odd Asset there?
Do you have a gap in the Video at about that point?
Then, do you have adequate defragmented free space on the destination HDD?

Time Capsule causes Internet to move at a snails pace.

I've had my Time Capsule for a few months now, and only recently has it began to function like so. My first instinct was to blame Time Warner for the slow internet, yet after testing the speed with and without the router, I've narrowed it down to the TC. I've reset the Time Capsule, given it a few hours rest to cool down, and nothing. I've turned Time Machine off. I've restarted computers..no go.
When I plug in the TC and get everything hooked up, the internet is fine, but within about 5 minutes, the speed is reduced that that of 56k taking easily 3 minutes to load a single webpage.
I'm not sure if this could be the cause of a recent software update, or outside software interfering.
Anyone have this or a similar problem with suggestions?

Same problem. I have a Time Capsule 500GB Router. Recently it has a slow connection speed to the internet. The Las Vegas Speed Test (http://test.lvcm.com) shows download speeds averaging 12.0 - 15.0 mps and upload speeds of 50-99 kps. If I connect my iMAC directly to the cable modem, the upload speeds improve to approximately 2.0 - 3.0 mps. Note that my IMAC is connected to the Time Capsule though an Ethernet cable (not wireless).
I was looking for similar posts on the web and found a gentleman who disabled his WINS (wireless service). I did the same to the Time Capsule and the upload speeds (hence the entire internet experience) returned to normal.
I restarted the wireless service using my prior SSID with WPA/WPA2 Personal security and speeds stay at normal. Other computers connected wireless accessing the internet enjoy similar high speeds. The lasts for some time until the internet upload speed slows down again. I can repeat the procedure (shut off the wireless, etc.) with the same result.
Has anyone seen this before?

I purchased this PC on 7th November 2014 from a dealer in Pune,India. The specs are Intel Pentium Processor CPU- G645, RAM 2GB, HDD- 500GB. OS- Windows 8.1
Quite apart from the challange of learning Windows all over again ( because it is a far cry from a seamless transision from all earlier versions of Windows) , my frustration majorly stems from the fact that this PC is slower even than a snail. I simply couldn't believe my eyes. My previous PC was also a HP Pavillion and even that was slow, despite having a 2GBRAM and a 500GB hard disk).
But the slowness displayed by THIS masterpiece of a PC takes the cake. I can't even shut it down without going through several steps of trials and errors....trying it first this way and then that way....till something works.
ALL programs and apps ( including the MS Office that I purchased along with this PC ) run slow on this PC.
It has nothing to do with the speed of my internet connection, by the way. Even MS Office runs abysmally slow on this PC.
I cleaned up all temp files and wiped all the blank spaces in the hard disk. I removed as many programs and apps as realistically possible from the Start Menu. But to no avail. Even Google Chrome has become extra slow.

I went back to the dealer who shrugged and told me to get in touch with the HP service centre.
From past experience with my earlier HP PC I know that the servicing in INDIA is outsourced by HP to some small companies, including a company called Reddington who are notorious and infamous for their bad service.
I cannot get the PC checked by an outsider because that would effectively void the warranty...
So what do I do?

MacBook Pro running at a snail pace

Hello,
Few days back i intalled "Parallels" to be able to run Windows 8 along side Mac. However, installing Prallels made my mac very slow and thus i removed it. But removing it also did not help improve the mac & it is still running slow.

When we download from iTunes store, our network grinds to a halt and iTunes is downloading at a snails pace.

Not really sure, but when we download content from itunes, our network grinds to a stop and iTunes is the culprit. Funny thing is that iTunes is only using a small percentage of the bandwith. If we quit iTunes, all goes back to normal. But if we leave itunes running, problem persists.
We have 10mb download speed, and 500Mb takes around 4hrs. Any ideas?

how old is your computer, what the ram in it?
if not the internet, it maybe the lion.
i used 2Gb mac on lion, its really slow down since upgrading to lion
i upgraded to 3Gb and things speed up a bit.
itunes still slow because its just has many heavy graphics.
i also cannot use Google Chrome for some reason, slower computer and makes my screen flickers heavily.
once i quit chrome, all works smoother.

Suddenly going at a snails pace Apple, ISP or Phone Company?

Hi,
My internet connection has been very unpredictable recently. The contract I have with my ISP is for 100MPS service and I was usually getting under 10MPS and now I'm barely getting 100KPS. What happened?
I called Apple, they asked some questions and said to call the ISP; I called the ISP, they asked some questions and told me to call the phone company; I called the phone company and got irate when they told me to call Apple again and so they sent someone to my home today to change the router and check the lines -- all is okay.
In fact, when the guy plugged his Windows based machine directly into the router he got 80-90MPS but when I connected with both AirMac and directly with a LAN cable I got 6MPS download/2MPS upload from the same speed test site. He said to call Apple. When explained the situation he threw up his hands and gave up. He wasn't being rude he just really had no idea what to do.
Does anyone here? Apple won't be open for me (here in Japan) till Monday. I'd at least like to sound like I know what I'm talking about when I phone them.
My router is RT-S300SE and my phone company is NTT, the ISP is OCN.
Any ideas?

You are going to have to escalate this with Fedex. Call and ask to speak to manager.

My macbook pro and iphone4 after newest ios update has had wifi issues, very very snail pace slow

um i recently last week? updated my macbook pro and my iphone 4 to lastest ios, and ever since then my wifi has been slow,
by this i mean, when i click anything, it takes a long long time to load a page, and even my facebook (arrived via bookmarks bar) so i load the same way as before, page often loads imcomplete, or not at all, on my iphone its so bad i cant even check my email, or the weather app, but on my ipod4, it works fine, cuz i have not updated the ios on the ipod touch 4th gen
is anyone else having these issues? so far ive been able to confirm (via xbox 360) that wifi signal is fine, strong and normal..... did apple screw up my devices? and if so? please tell me how i fix this, streaming my weekly 13 episodes of tv shows is now like dead slow, with every 5-8 seconds of video watching, theres another 30-40 seconds of SPINNING circle... i am so fed up

As a extra precaution I would copy the user file folders of Music, Documents, Pictures etc to another external drive and disconnect, just in case.
Always maintain TWO backups of your data at all times, since your messing with one, you need another until your back at two again.

Hotmail is at a snails pace since last upgrade

Ever since an upgrade my Hotmail is slow to open and everything is almost moving backwards. Lot of time outs and hesitation. I have contacted Hotmail but they never ever respond. Is it Hotmail or a new upgrade from FireFox that is causing the problem?

I imagine It is Hotmail- they SHOULD be compatile with the latest FF, but....

Oh, and try a resart of the computer, (seems to sort a lot! ;-0 )

Time Machine slowing to snail pace, md root, mdworker, backupd spikes

Running a fresh time machine backup, in this case a 480GB from MBPro to cleanly formatted 1TB Time Capsule over 1GBe, backup commences at a decent (though still too slow) clip of about 40GB an hour, then slows to a painful drip at 430GB complete when I rechecked in the morning.
Looked at apps and processes, seeing 99% cpu usage spikes varying across mds root, mdworker and backupd. When they back off, transfer picks up, though still really slow compared to what it should be.
Guess is an imbalance in how Spotlight interfaces with Time Machine on indexing. I would expect a 30% CPU constant level during the Time Machine job to keep up on indexing during file transfer rather than a spikey machine slowing, backup stalling methodology which appears to be happening.
Open to ideas, its not a memory or process leak or thread runaway, since a restart of the machine and return to the backup solves nada. I have 2GB of RAM with 1GB free during the job. I closed all other main apps, nothing else is placing a burden on the machine.

That's more than a bit outdated. It refers to 10.5.1, the very early version.

One cause of apparently slow backups is actually extra-large backups. If yours seem too large for the amount you've done between backups, see #D4 there.

My 2012 MacBook Pro 13' just suddenly started running at a snails pace?

I got my MacBook about a year ago and it has run well the entire time but for some reason yesterday it started to run very slowly. It doesn't have to do with the Wi-Fi because I've been several different places and the programs will start they just take a very long time to do so. Does anyone know what could be the problem. Do I need to reset the system or something? When I listen to it run it sounds like it's running in bursts, could it be a fan issue? Whatever it is, it's freaking me out, I need my computer. Thanks for all of the help!

there's a fault in the graphics processor or logic board. The two kinds of output are not mutually exclusive, but if you get both, a logic-board fault is likely.
