Enterprise Server vs. wipe hand held

i bought my blackberry 8330 from eBay flashed for Cricket service. when i went to set up my Setup Wizard, not being used to the ball, i accidentally pressed use for work phone & now it keeps asking me for my blackberry enterprise server email. i reset the phone causing me to loose my cricket internet service but not my phone service. so i re-flashed it back to cricket but it still wont let me add my personal email address so that my apps will work or so that i can send email from my phone. i read somewhere that if i wipe my hand held that it might reset the Setup Wizard, but i don't want to have to re-flash it cause it removes my internet service again. what exactly will happen if i wipe my hand held? will it reset the Setup Wizard? Will I have to re-flash again back to my service provider? i would be forever greatful if someone would point me in the right direction

Re-Authentication at ACS server happens when a Teklogix Hand Held roams. The setup is using WPA2 / PKC and instead of the WLC re-authenticating the Hand Held Teklogix Client as it roams, the re-authentication happens at the ACS Server. Is this Normal behaviour. WLC is running 4.0.179.8 code.

thats an extremely old code... I would prob upgrade t0 the last 4.0 code...
but if the client supports WPA2 PKC, it should not re-auth the client back to the radius server.

Need input on Approval Process via hand held devices

Hi All,
Need inputs on the given scenario. We have implemented Quotation Management (VA21) for our client. The quotation goes through various levels of approval (or decline) via the Workflow below it is finally given to the customer.
Users usually logs into SAP and approves (or decline) the quotation via the SAP Inbox. We have designed multiple decision process on the work item in the inbox. Alternatively users can also log in to Enterprise portal, which has been designed for them, to act on the quotation. Users are notified in their outlook mail about action that needs to be taken on the quotation.
Now user wants to have the decision process to be implemeted as such that they can take action (approve/reject) via hand held devices (viz Blackberry). We are using ECC 6 and also have Enterprise Portal EP 7EHP1. Owing to cost constraint, client cannot implement SAP CRM Solution.
If anyone of you has implemented such methodolgies or have worked on such solutions request you to get back to me with details regards to the timelines and cost and the desired process.

You could acquire software (e.g. 3i Mobile Workplace or similar) that could handle the decision processing with little effort.
If you wish to build a solution then the time/cost will depend on the complexity of the task visualization. You can create a Java client or use a simple HTML based web app.
The decision task can be visualized using a custom BSP or WebDynpro application. Communication with the BlackBerry could be via RIM push or you could just send an email with a link to your approval application.
The app would need to reserve the workitem and then complete the decision using the appropriate SAP_WAPI* RFC's.
Bear in mind that all the above assumes you are distributing the approval tasks within your corporate network supported by the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and MDS.
One of the bigger issues when using web apps is authentication. By default a web app requires the user to log on using their SAP user ID and password. Using a network user ID and password or using silent authentication is possible but requires more effort.

Enterprise activation after wipe out

Hello,
I have a problem.
I had an old BB curve 8900, am I had some problems with it and I decided to buy another one.
On my old BB 8900I had Enterprise activation account.I received a new password and ALL the things I had on my old phone were synchronized on my new one. AND I don't want that. So I've wipe out my phone. But surprise when I entered my Enterprise activation account all the previous things that I wiped out were on my new wiped out BB curve 8900.
I don't want that. I want a new fresh BB !!!
Please help me, how can I wipe out everything, activate this account and have a fresh start.
PS: I love this function, I love that all my contacts, mails etc were there, but I just want to copy a part of them.
(I'm doing this because a while ago I've changed the language of the phone and in the upper right corner is a mark with "EN" and I really hate it, and I want it gone, but every time I change the phone, wipe it out, he reappears)...

If you are looking to start from scratch on your Enterprise Activation then you will need to talk to your BlackBerry Enterprise Server admin to see if they can disable the message pre population on activation.
Have a look at this thread regarding the "En" symbol you are seeing on your BlackBerry smartphone.

Studio is the integrated development and test environment. As such, it's intended for designing processes, creating the UI for the screenflows, creating the objects and introspecting services that you want to tie into the process. Studio has a runtime engine that can be used by a single developer for testing purposes. It runs a little database called Derby and a Tomcat Web Server - again so the work done by a single developer can be tested on the developer's machine at runtime.
Enterprise on the other hand is the production environment. Unlike Studio, it does not have the capability to develop projects. It is the runtime environment where many end users can concurrently run their instances on an industrial strength engine. It can run on a standalone JVM or an application server.
Studio is for development. Enterprise if for Dev/QA/production environments where many users need to hit the engine and many instances need to run concurrently.

Obtain Ip address of hand held terminal

Hi all..
We are writing an application for hand held terminals. We are using PDT6846. The HHT application runs on a solaris machine from where the requests are routed to the server. Individual users connect to the HHT application through telnet.
There are two things that i need to know.
1. How to get the ip address of the terminal which is connecting to the aplication.
2. As of now, the user has two stages of authentication. One to sign in to the telnet session and then to sign in to the application. Is there a way to automatically sign in to telnet when the device is switched on. ie to configue some exe on start up of these terminal which would automatically login to the telnet session.
Please help me with these two sections

Do the devices actually have a public IP address (or an IP address relevant in an intranet)? If not then getting the IP address is worthless information.

in CRM server is in place and in 'Allowed Channels for Transaction type' you have an entry for 'PDA', then you can see the transaction type in handheld device and can raise service order from you handheld device.

Hand Held application not recognising a database instance when running in cradled mode through Windows Mobile Device Centre.

How do I get a Hand Held application to recognise a database instance when running cradled through Mobile Device Centre?
I have a database instance on a networked machine as NZTESTSERVER2\NZ2008.
If I run the Hand Held application in WI-Fi connected mode it resolved this database connection name without any problems.
This database connection name also works from a Desktop application running on the PC that I have cradled the Hand Held to.
But the instance isn’t being resolved when I run the Hand Held application in cradled mode, without a Wi-Fi connection. In this case it still recognises the server address part ‘NZTESTSERVER2’ but it doesn’t recognise this with the database instance included
(\NZ2008).
I even tried using it with the servers IP and the instance (192.168.0.14\NZ2008), but again it recognises the server IP address (192.168.0.14), but not with the instance (\NZ2008).
So why does the app run in WI-Fi but not cradled mode?

MI7.1 hand held sync problem

We have a hand held device installed with O/S Mobile 5.0 and load with the SAP files,
i) pda_runtime_wince.CAB
ii) pda_eswt_container.CAB
iii) pda_jsp_container.CAB
iv) pda_setup_mindb.CAB
When press 'sync' button, get the follow error message.
SyncProgress:100% Completed
SyncLogs
Info: Synchronization started
Info: Synchronization cycle finished
Info: Synchronization finished
Sync finished with Errors.
[OK]
When go to trace, only has the following
[Send Logs to Server]
[Send Traces to Server][Delete Logs][Delete Traces]
Sync user is assigned with 'SAP_DOE_SYNC_ROLE'. Server is MI7.1SP05.

Thanks for you reply. I manage to delete the inserted data refer to the employee_ui sample application but the data still appear at the backend after sync. Any idea why this happen??
Using the following code i am able to delete the record at the devices. But when it sync the data still get insert to database table.

Hand held camera effect

hi,
I think i've worked this out but i wondered if there were any other tips.
I want to create a hand held camera effect in differing amounts from a very subtle one that looks real and would work well on say a talking head that has been shot on a locked off camera. to a more extreme version that could be used for a more edgy effect and when you don't mind nauseating your audience.
i've got it looking ok by changing the footage to 3d and using a camera. then using wiggle on point of interest with a few manually typed in z rot changes.
has anyone got any tips for this kind of effect. even mentioning what magnitude and frequency you use would be useful. as well as the kf animation types to get a natural feel

For the keyframes: Short intervals and linear. Even the best hobby filmer will not be able to hold the camera perfectly still for more than a few seconds and when your hand goes into a "fall", reaction is mostly abrupt and aimed at retaining the original centering. For the wiggle, you usually have two types interacting: A general, soft and slow swing for your entire arm, where the elbow or shoulder are the pivot, and then a more rapid jitter from your wrist and hand, further influenced by your pulse... At an average pulse of 85 bpm, this would be about 1.3 Hz. Your wrist can move vertically (hand aligned with body's vertical axis) about +/- 30 degrees, horizontally about +/- 80. Depending on how far the object is away, this can translate to just a few centimeters or meters based on how much jitters you have. You should however consider, that far shots are more stable due to how it better serves stereoscopic perception. And of course just like any other camera, wind and tremors e.g. from passing cars would also add an ever so slight variation... Generally there is no recipe, though. I would not overdo, as exactly this may look fake. As so often: subtlety is key.

This could be almost anything. It could be related to the failing
hardware. I'd fix that first, before worrying about this.

Mac OS 10.4.6 Update and Palm Hand Held Issues

Recently I installed the Mac OS 10.4.6 update after confirming that it should improve some minor issues with "Hot Synching".
Previously I could "Hot Synch" with my Palm Mac Desk Top software 4.2.1 and also with my PC with no issues.
I noticed now I can "Hot Sync" on my Mac--with no issues. However, when I take the Palm out of the USB Cradel and try to access the Palm Display page with the featured icons, I get a very unusual error:
"Application can not be launched because it is missing localization info file xxx--enUS.prc."
I checked the Palm site and entered the error message and the response was returned that indicated "several applications with the Palm Tungsten T require overlay files to run properly. "Dialer, SMS, & WAP Browser" require and overlay "prc" file that determines which language he application displays on the device. If this "prc" file is missing, it will cause this message to be displayed."
I was instructed to install the "xxx_enUS.prc" using the Palm Install tool.
I installed all of the "xxx_enUS.prc" files on Disk 2 and have performed a "Hot Sync" again. A successful "Hot Synch" was performed.
The above message is still displayed on the Palm screen even after that successful "Hot Synch".
I can not use any of the screen icons to select any of the features or vprograms on the Palm.
The face buttons can be depressed but the selection from the Palm hand held icons with the stylus can not be accessed as the "missing localization info, ect" is displayed.
I have performed soft resets to no avail.
I still can not get this issues resolved.
Anyone out there have any suggestions.

I don't use the synch. option. However, my RSS feeds are updating without problem after the update. If I remember correctly, the RSS feed update was affected by synching through .Mac? Is that true?
What method did you use to update your system. As a rule, I use the combo update. If you used the incremental method, I suggest using the combo update. Remember to repair permissions via Disk Utility after the update.

Emulating Oracle Applications Environment in BI Publisher Enterprise Server

I think I know what the answer is going to be to this post but for reasons outwith my control I'm trying to understand if there is a workaround to achieve the resultant report output I require.
Background
Oracle E-Business on Demand 11.5.10.2
Oracle BI Publisher 10.1.3.2
My client has Oracle E-Biz on Demand but rather than utilising the integrated XML Publisher engine they have gone down the path of installing BI Publisher Standalone Enterprise Server for their report generation.
Now this works to an extent but I am experiencing problems trying to emulate the setting of an Apps context when I run a report so that I can utilise the Apps security within the Stanalone Enterprise Server. Is this even possible?
Example, basing a data model on PO_VENDOR_SITES (multi-org view) returns 0 (zero) rows but basing it on PO_VENDOR_SITES_ALL returns all rows (for all Orgs).
I can hear you all now yelling, "Use the Oracle Applications XML Publisher" version but in this "On Demand" arena that practice hasn't been adopted so i am raising this post in the hope that someone may be able to suggest a workaround or solution.
Actually, no BI Publisher security model has been adopted and all users use the GUEST account to run reports.

Gary, create a data template and call your own db function to initialise these. The beforeReport trigger will fire and set the enviro prior to the query being executed (as in Reports) Something like this below:

How to replace ENTERPRISE Server Option by BB Internet Service Option?

On my 8700 there is the ENTERPRISE Server option installed.
As I want to vsend and receive emails from different email account without making use of the BB Enterprise geature I would like to get rid of the Enterprise-program installed and replace it by the Internet Service option.
I wonder whether this would be possible.
Can I replace Enterprice feature by the normal Internet Service?? and how?

The options you are presented with when you start the email configuration wizard are controlled by virtue of the account type you have with your carrier. Given what you describe, it sounds as if you have perhaps on a generic data plan (or perhaps no data plan at all) -- that is normally not sufficient to grant you access to the Blackberry Internet Service that is hosted at your carrier. To enable Personal Email configuration, you must contact your carrier and request what is often (thought not universally) called The Blackberry Data Plan. Whatever it is called, you need a plan from your carrier that grants you access to the enhanced Blackberry services that they host - and you must pay them to access those enhanced services. Once you have that proper account, you will have Personal email as a configuration option (note, though, that Enterprise will not be "replaced"...rather, Personal will be added to the screen).

How can I read my ebook on a hand held?

I bought $350 worth of ebooks from ebooks.com. They have no support and refer all of their technical questions to Adobe, so I hope someone from here can answer me.
These are the instructions on how to transfer the ebook to the hand held on the ebooks.com site:

It says on there you need to "synchonize your hand held to complete the installition". How do I do that? I was never prompted to synchronize my hand held. I registered my PID on my ebooks page for both my computer and my hand held but I did it after I downloaded the ebooks and not before like you are supposed to. I tried taking off my ebooks again and downloading them again and it didn't work because I couldn't read the ebooks at all because the second time I downloaded it only a 1 K file in Digital Editions downloaded and so I had to recover the ebooks from my recycle bin.
Then I tried to download it directly to my bebook but nothing showed up when I looked for it and when I looked at what downloaded to my bebook all that showed up was an 848 bytes .EDT file. Then I transferred the corresponding ebook from my computer to my ebook and it showed up on my hand held but it won't open.
I have the EDT file and the ebook itself on my computer and I did everything right but it won't open on my ebook. What now?

These all have drm so i cannot read them without a i-Device.
Correct. If you do not have an iOS device or a Mac running Mavericks, do not buy Apple iBooks. They will be unreadable.
