EP Performance Tunning and concurrent user login problems

Hi all.
We have a EP , integrated with Windows AD and SAP R3.
In real situation, there will be 1000 users login in EP in 0.5 hours. And their operation time will be 6-8 hours, connect to R3 or other applications.
Is EP can support such concurrent user login scenario ?
if EP fails, is there some performance monitor tool or performance tunning issue ?

EP supports this logon load, however it all depends on sizing and architecture! Also the content of the STARTPAGE can be critical (make it "light").
If the portal fails, then often it is only one J2EE server process, which fails - so by having more server-processes will be an easy/minimum form of high availability. A "real" HA solution must be considered if your business will not work without the portal og SAPGUI connections can be used as workaround/fallback in such situations.

However, it is not permitted to use in Production at all. But sometimes, only in critical situations, for eg. we have only a few basis IDs and some maintenance task is to be carried out involving more resources, multiple gui login can be utilized in sandbox to for that ID.
But, it is for sure that, USMM report will be sent to SAP for the sandbox too. So client is subjectable. If you, as a basis guy, are going to try it, then please do it only after the confirmation from the client and only if client needs it.

Limit concurrent user logins

Hi all,
One of our customers is trying to limit the number of concurrent user logins to 1.
He has deployed a 2500 WLC (v7.4) with a Dot1x SSID. Authentication against external radius server (IAS).
Configured the following:
Max Concurrent Logins for a user name: 1
But doesn't work despite of the value configured in "Max-Login Ignore Identity Response" option (enable|disable).
My doubt here is if that these parameters just work when we are using local authentication or if it could be a bug with this particular software train.
I've found contradictory info regarding this particular topic.

Thanks for the info provided.
Our problem here is that despite the value of max-login-ignore-identity-response (enable|disable) we always can establish multiple simultaneous connections with the same username credentials.
Does Max Concurrent Logins for a user name work with external radius authentication? Are we missing something else?

Difference between named users and concurrent users:
Named user means when you buy BOXI you buy a certain amount of named user licenses and then you give each of these named users a login. It`s a cheaper type of license but you have to know exactly who your users are, and so is pretty useless if your userbase is constantly changing or your exposing Infoview over the web.
Concurrent user licenses are now only available in BOXI Edge - the equiv in BOXI Pro\Premium is a CPU license, which means you can let as many people login as your hardware will support. Concurrent user licenses are useful when you don`t know who your userbase is - you can just give a generic login for people to use. Or give people specific logins and not worry that they might not be using the system and using up a valuable named user license.

Multiple user login problem with ADF

Hi All,
I am using Jdev 11g. I have an ADF application which is running inside JDev enbedded WLS. I implemented "Authentication Only" security into the application and created a few users. If I try to login/logout/re-login with individual user, all of users work perfectly. However, when I have one user already logged in, I open another browser and try to login with another user (or the same user), I always get an "Error 403--Forbidden" error. Basically I have an application which can only work for one user at one time. Does anyone know how to fix this problem so that I can have multiple users logged in at the same time?

Thank you for your response.
I am using Firefox version 2.0.0.20. When I add the security component into my ADF application, I just take whatever it has by default without any customization. That includes default login.html and error.html. Here is my experience,
1) Execute my starting task flow activity inside the JDeveloper. This will invoke a new login page in my default browser Firefox.
2) Login the application with user "abc" and do something. Keep this session open.
3) Open another Firefox browser and enter login URL. and then Login the application with user "xyz" (or even "abc"). I got the error page.
To me, it should be basic web application behavior. I can do things like this in other J2EE application. This one doesn't make sense at all. I am not sure if this is the behavior I would see when I deploy it to a standalone WLS.
Any ideas?

High txn vol and concurrent users

I have a application in hand which will be reqd to support 100000 txns per day and about 500 concurrent user
. Can BEA WebLogic deliver that. Do I need any tools like Tuxedo etc. Do you have a live project example of this volume done in Weblogic.
It would be nice if U can help me on this

100000 txs per day is about 1-2 tx per second. (unless my math is
off). That should be no problem for WLS.
I would suggest that you talk to your sales representative or

User Login problems

Last night I booted up my laptop and logged in as usual. However, when logging in, it took some time to log in. I noticed that everything was reset to something similar to a new user. It acted like my user login profile did not exist. It did allow me to log in, but non of my application specific data, side bar, my documents, etc existed. Everything was wiped clean. All programs were still there, so no factory reset or restore was done.
Since I did a backup on the 11th, I decided to restore from that backup. However, after multiple attempts to do so, I still get the same result everytime I restore. My username exist, but the user profile data is gone and never shows up.
Did a scan disk as well and nothing found to be wrong with the hard drive. The only thing I can think of, is Saturday before I shut down, there were some Windows updates that were installed. I have not used my laptop till Wednesday evening. Since my backup was before the windows update, I figured this would solve the issue but with no luck.
Any help would be appreciated.

i have an asp.net web application which should work as intranet application if windows user logs in and it should ask separate logins if an external user logs in. Is it possible? it can be accessed over internet and internal users uses VPN or the network

My iChat buddies dont show up and also having login problems.

I am having two problems with my ichat. My buddies dont sign online and I also experience the login problem where it opens and collapses many times and says that I have tried to logon too many times. Please help. I have searched this message board and thus far nothing that I have found has worked

Try logging on to AIM on port 443 rather than port 5190.
Go to IChat in the menu bar > Preferences > Accounts.
Log out of AIM and then use the Server Settings tab
Set the port to 443(press return/enter(you might have to tick and untick SSL for 443 to stick)).
Log back in again.

          engineers to discuss this with you in person. Rob, Gene et al are not
          equipped (or authorized, I think) to disseminate this sort of
          information in this forum.
          BTW 1M tx a day is a lot as is 1000 concurrent users. I'd be more
          focused on networking and database hardware then app server.

1. How big is the application?
2. What type of application?
3. MAX HTTP Sessions at any point of time

Customer currently testing a process which exposes XML publisher functionality via self service. The process calls an app engine which
generates an XML file, processed by XML Publisher, and then displayed in the browser window.
They have found that any more than ten or so users in our test environment (two app servers, one web server per app server) seems to slow
the process to a halt, even causing some requests to go unprocessed. The bottleneck seems to be at the web server (WebLogic) as the
database and app server performance metrics are very good, however PeopleSoft Ping suggests that the web server is having trouble.
production environment has 8 app servers, one web server per app server. Are there any configuration changes we can make to improve
the serving of PDFs from XML publisher output? Add more web servers per app server? WebLogic java VM heap settings?

Any other thoughts on performance degrade with XML Publisher with more than 10 users.

There are currently two known operations that are seriously slower in update 10:

(taken from the release notes).
You can disable the hardware pipeline to basically go back to the old situation as it was in update 7 if it is giving your problems. I wouldn't know why simple fill actions would be bogging it down though, it smells like something is done wrong in your app.

If this fails to resolve your issue, I recommend searching some Windows forums for the error you are getting.
It could have something to do with security setting on your OS.
