.eps file extention missing

Hello:     I have a pc with Windows 7 Home Premium Edition, 64 bit and a Raedeon (<sp?) processor.
Recently I downloaded a trial period for Adobe Photoshop CS6.
I made a New Folder when I downloaded the software ~ if that means anything. Please bare with me as I am a New Newbie to computers in general as well as Ps.
My problem is that I need to save files as .eps but when I go to Save As it is not listed. I checked the list of extensions and Ps does have it available. So, I am beside myself wondering why it is not in my drop down list of extensions.
Maybe something isn't pointing to something?? lol .... yup, that's the extent of my computer knowledge.
I have searched the FAQ's to no avail. However, I am not certain I have been asking my question in a manner in which I would be able to narrow down a relative result. So, I am sorry if someone else has already asked this question.
Your time is greatly appreciated.
Thank You!
Murph

Glad it worked out for you, yes there is a lot to learn and I have been using Photoshop since version 5 - long before CS5 and learn something all the time.
I always save my master with all the layers and channel, then flatten the image, and in some instances have to check to see if there are any alpha channels floating around. I use one application outside of Photoshop that dumps an Alpha Channel, it is supposed to be there to help cover up stitching errors, so that gets dumped as well. Then I save as a new file ready for the customer. I learned the hard way sending a client an image with all the layers intact, and my hard work and technique went out the door, when the client sent the image to someone else; usually my output is 16 bit TIFF.
Well sounds like you are having fun, and this forum is great for getting answers
Cheers

  • Lines Missing from .eps file

    I genereate the inital image in AutoCAD, export it as an .eps file then format the image using Illustrator CS5. The files are then placed into an ExCel spreadsheet where the lines will not show up.
    When using Illustrator I change the stroke of all lines then drag the artboard edges closer to the object leaving a space around the object. After formatting the very most bottom line of my thumbnails will be missing. I've tried placing the objects at a different reference points in AutoCAD before exporting the file but this has not helped. When running CS3 I never had this problem.
    I'm a novice at using Illustrator so any thoughts or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    Why bother with EPS for an Excel chart? Export it sufficiently high-res from AI as a PNG and be done with it.

  • When I export an indesign document the graphics are missing from the eps file.

    When I export an indesign document the graphics are missing from the eps file.

    The why it isn't working can be a number of reasons. While I never have exported an EPS out of ID before, I just tried it and it worked fine.
    What "graphics" are missing? I used bitmaps, native drawn ID vector, lines and a placed EPS file. Came into AI as an opened EPS fine.
    Links up to date? For items not hitting the EPS, are they on a layer set to non-printing?
    In the export dialog,General tab, PostScript Level 3? Data format set to ASCII? On the Advanced tab, Send Data set to All? OPI off?

  • Replace missing fonts in eps files with scripts...how

    I have 1900 eps files with multiple missing fonts. I need to replace this fonts with some avaiable in system. Where I can find some script for this scenario? Script which can trigger "find font/change all" or similar. Actions dont work.
    thanks

    Would I need a premium subscription to Creative Cloud to access all the fonts in Typekit?
    Nope!

    Nor can I - in Typekit, anyways.

  • Media file is missing or has the wrong timecode extents

    PP CC (7.1) exporting timeline using XML. Import into Resolve 10.0.2 and ⅔ of the clips give the error "media file is missing or has the wrong timecode extents". Tried the same with AAF and luckily every video clip imported. However most the audio clips gave the same error.
    The AAF audio clip error is a real problem too as ProTools can't import PP CC AAF. Have to use OMF with ProTools imports.
    Any help or solutions would be greatly appreciated. I have read on another forum that this is believed to be an Adobe problem and that they are aware of it.

  • How to create a eps file from illustrator?

    I am new to illustrator and new to creating logos for print, I usually only do it for the web.  I am creating a logo for my team so that it can be printed onto a jacket.  I created an all white logo because the jacket is black.  I was asked to send an eps file.  I created the logo in illustrator and saved it as an eps file and as a pdf file thinking the printer could use the pdf for viewing.  When I open the pdf file, the only thing that's there is a soccer ball, my text and a few other things are missing.  When I open the saved eps file, the same thing, I have to go to select all to see all my other stuff in the eps file.  How do I save my file as eps and know that it's attaching everything I have within the illustrator file and how can I view the logo as a pdf?  Any help you can give would be greatly appeciated, thanks so much!

    How did you similate the black color?
    Since Illustrator does not have a background, you must create one with the rectangle tool, drag out a rectangle the size of the document and then move it to the back. That rectangle can then be filled with black.
    Also look in your layers panel and see what you have for objects. You can select them there and move them up or down to bring them forward or backward on the document. It can also make it easier to select when the object is below others.

  • Adobe Bridge & .EPS files

    After renaming and sorting all 5-10 gigs of my vector artwork last night, by catergory/style and launching Bridge to start keywording that particular Main folder (Vector Art) of all my design materials to get more organized, I ran into an issue!!  While weeding thru my various clipart packages and downloaded stuff over the years, I assumed that keeping the EPS instead of the AI file would be more friendly for any work enviroment within bridge and cross platform but was wrong apparently.  So, I tossed all the AI files that came with the EPS equivalent, without really giving it to much thought.  As I start inputing keywords and start trying to assign them to particular image or image groups, I quickly found out that Adobe Bridge doesn't supported the keywording of an EPS file and didn't apply any keep words to any files with the .eps extension.
    Is there something I am missing here?
    After thinking for a minute, I should have done the opposite and keep the AI's and tossed the EPS files, being AI is a native Adobe software and Bridge would handle these alot better, but by then again It took me 4 hours to catergorize all the vector art into subfolders and do a little renaming.
    To save from having to retreive all the deleted AI files via Time Machine, what should I do? >>>>>>
    1.  Use Illustrator and actions to manually convert all the vector art to .AI
    2.  Find a 3rd party program (if there is one) that could make the conversion quick and easy for me so I can get back to keywording
    3.  Restore the original mess of a folder and start all over and keep the AIs instead of the EPSs
    4.  or, look for a setting within Bridge to actually let me tag my EPS files
    5.  none of the above
    Any suggestions on workflow or software to quickly and painlessly accomplish would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks Again

    For those questions you will be better of in the dedicated Illustrator
    forum, just check the path above this forum to adobe forums and search for
    Illustrator to drop this problem.
    And for some reason it is not possible to add metadata or keywords to EPS
    files unless you have converted them using Illustrator. But I don't know the
    correct settings for the conversion. Just tried one and saved as EPS in
    Illustrator CS5. It then is possible to add metadata but the file size also
    from 250 kb to 1,5 MB !

  • What are my options for opening EPS files in Elements 13? What is the best way to convert these to another type of vector file?

    I "upgraded" from Photoshop Elements... uh... mad old... to Elements 13 when my work computer got "upgraded" to Win8. Now I can't open EPS files which is how I receive collateral from our ad agency. What other vector files will work, and how can I convert EPS to these? Please be gentle if this is a stupid question - I know enough to be dangerous, but I'm not an expert at design by any means. I'm just frustrated because this isn't quite the "dead" file type that Adobe thinks it is. What was the point of upgrading if I'm pretty much left in the lurch?
    Thanks to any and all who can help! Much appreciated . -ASI

    What's important to understand is that Elements is a 'pixel' editor, not a 'vector' editor. As such, it has very limited 'vector' capacity (fonts, shapes...) What you are missing from older versions is the ability to convert vector items to standard pixel image file. To be able to open and work on eps files, you'd need Adobe Illustrator, which seems overkill for your purpose.
    So, your options are:
    - to request your ad agency to supply pdf format images instead of eps ones. My guess is that eps is beeing largely superseded by pdf, but I am not sure...
    - Use external tools to convert from eps to jpeg; a Google search would return free softwares like Irfanview or web based conversion.
    - You might want to keep (or reinstall) older Elements versions just for that purpose.

  • InDesign CS5.5 Won't Place Word 2011 Files (Mac); Missing Filter?

    I'm confused. I opened approximately 15 Word files, cut all the photos, then saved them as Word 97-2004 files. Then I opened an InDesign CS5.5 file and tried to place each Word file but I keep getting a "No filter found for requested operation" error message. I was able to place a couple of the files but I got the error message for all the rest.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Lloyd

    Hi Robert, we haven't seen you here for a while. Welcome back.
    Thx
    I know Jongware complains bitterly that Word import can be really flakey. Did you try daving as plain .doc, too? Seems like MathType equations are also the subject of a fair number of posts, too, but I'm not sure they are really a similar problem. I don't suppose there's any way for you to convert the eqations to .ai or PDF and still use them as links in Word, or to embed rather than link?
    I'm working on big tool to automatic mass processing big number of Word files. One of the steps is to prepare Word files with MathType equations for further manual processing. I have a macro (for Word2010) to automatically  export all equations to EPS files. The next step is to reImport EPS files back to Word - so they will be imported into InDesign as linked files and then they could be automatically correctly positioned withing the text.
    The problem is - I've done reImport step in Word2000 - as 2nd macro - and it works perfectly fine for DOC files saved from Word2000.
    Of course I can do this in InDesign - but I think it would be faster in Word.
    I think missing import of the linked files for DOCX files is a BIG bug ...

  • CS5- Custom Links to EPS Files Don't Work?

    I am building a plugin that allows a user to place graphic assets from our own external asset management system into their InDesign document.  These assets need to maintain a "custom link" to the external assets.
    Everything was working great for simple raster image formats (like JPEG) but the custom link information seems to get lost for EPS files.
    After doing some deep debugging I decided to try building one of the sample plugins that ship with CS5 - 'customdatalink' and the accompanying 'customdatalinkui'.  This sample does a similar type of thing with CSV files that reference external assets.
    To make a long story short, the sample plugin exhibits the exact same behavior.  If you edit one of the sample csv files to point to an EPS image and place that in a document, you'll see that the Link URI is replaced with a file:// style path instead of the custom csv:// URI.  It works as expected for JPEG files.
    Surely this is not expected behavior.  Am I missing something obious here or is this a simple (but pretty major for my plugin) bug?
    Thanks in advance for any assistance.
    p.s. this behavior is identical on both Mac and Windows.

    Here's a bit more detail. Again the idea is to return an IPMStream that doesn't include a IID_IFILESTREAMDATA. So I make a proxy IPMStream that just forwards requests to a real IPMStream.
    I've abbreviated a bit here for space reasons.
    So I make my own IPMStream object adding the class to my .fr file:
    class FileProxyWriteStream : public CPMUnknown<IPMStream>
    public:
                   FileProxyWriteStream(IPMUnknown* boss);
              virtual     ~FileProxyWriteStream();
              void SetRealStream(IPMStream *, AeInDesignGeo *);
              virtual uchar XferByte(uchar& chr) { return mRealStream->XferByte(chr); }
    ... all IPMStream methods
    Create my proxy stream:
    proxyStream = ::CreateObject2<IPMStream>(kFileProxyWriteStreamBoss, IID_IPMSTREAM);
    And I create a IPMStream:
    InterfacePtr<IPMStream>          realStream(StreamUtil::CreateFileStreamReadLazy(file, kOpenIn));
    Tell my proxyStream about the realStream
    proxyStream->SetRealStream(proxyStream);
    and CreateResourceReadStream returns my proxyStream
    Hope this helps

  • How do I edit an eps file in Illustrator?

    I bought some vector eps files and would like to edit the text in them. How would I go about doing so? Are there any tutorials that you could direct me to? Thanks in advance!

    Unfortunately they don't mention text.
    Did you get a warning about missing fonts when opening the file? That would be an indicator that there might be editable text.
    When you go into outline mode, is the text shown in solid black or as an outline? If the latter, you can't edit it.
    There are a couple of threads on the subject in this forum. So searching for "stock graphic" and editing, text etc. might take you there.
    Actually you need to take a deep dive into how vector graphics work, so you also might consider reading some chapters of the manual.
    https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator.html
    It won't be a simple task. The people who sold you this graphic, give the impression that this can just be done, but that's only the case if you know how it works. You might also confront them with what's not possible and ask them where to go from here.

    Usually the nostringval error points to a font.  You might try replacing any fonts that appear in the EPS file.  The syntaxerror portion refers to possible data corruption but could also point to missing font elements.

  • Eps file to PDF file

    I have a FM file which contains several referenced .eps files.
    The words in the graphics display quite normally in the FM file, however, some of the letters disappear in the converted PDF file. They are not missing as cropped, but missing here and there.
    Could anyone give me a hint?
    Thanks in advance!
    Alice

    FrameMaker does not display the EPS data, but only the bitmap preview present in the EPS file.
    You can start troubleshooting by determining that the EPS files you are using are valid and fully functional (and do not reference fonts which you don't have).
    This can be doen by distilling the EPS files directly. In Distiller, select File > Open; choose "File of type: EPS" or change the file name to *.eps.
