Equium A60 screen blackout but an image is still visible

Purchased this laptop as it was supposed to be reliable. After 18 VERY basic use the screen started to black intermittently until 3 months ago it failed completely; I now use an external flat screen(had that for 4 years! no problem).
Now I have noticed there is still an image visible on the A60 screen. I have been told that the backlight may need replacement or I read that possibly the FL Inverter? needs replacing.
Can anyone suggest how I overcome this problem especially as I am told a replacement screen might be as much as a new laptop. PS One of the keys also failed-never happened before on any keyboard since using computers when they first came out.
Any help welcome. davee

Yes, you suggestion is not bad. It could be really an FL inverter fault. This little part is not very expensive and can be responsible for your problem.
But I think you shouldnt replace this part yourself. I think you have no much experience in such replacement and therefore you should ask the technician for the help.

  • IPod screen illuminates but no image; iPod won't power off

iPod hard drive whirrs and screen illuminates, but no image (text or other) appears. iPod won't power off. iPod is recognized by iTunes only when in disk mode. Multiple restores were useless in restoring the screen function. Tools such as Disk Utility and Disk Warrior verified the directories were satisfactory. Can't locate a hardware diagnostic tool that can diagnose an iPod; and because the screen is malfunctioning, I can't run the iPod's built-in diagnostic routines.
Any solutions, or is this iPod destined for the repair shop?

If your iPod will not power off, unplug it from any power supply and wait for it to run the battery down completely. Then it will power off simply because there is not enough power to keep it running. (It may take 24 hours to do this.) Once this has happened, plug the iPod back into your computer. After about 30 minutes, you should see the "Please wait, very low battery" message. After a while longer, the iPod will have enough power and should reset itself. If not, re-post, but see below.
At the bottom of your post you state that you have a 30GB video iPod. In that case, if you need to re-post, it would be better in the 5th generation iPod forum, (either 5th generation or 5th gen late - see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353 for more information) as there will be posts from owners of the same model as you have, and with the same problems.

  • Changing portal screen works but no image displayed on other applications

    Hello Experts,
We have changed the portal logon screen as mentioned in help.sap.com
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/23/c0e240beb0702ae10000000a155106/frameset.htm
    1. Make another copy of com.sap.portal.runtime.logon.par.bak and modified the new PAR file.
    2. Copied back the modified file to <J2EE_Engine_Instance>\j2ee\cluster\server<X>\apps\sap.com\irj\servlet_jsp\irj\root\WEB-INF\deployment\pcd.
    3. Modified authschemes.xml file with new PAR file name and edited authschemes.xml file through Config Tool and "login.authschemes.definition.file" is pointing to new authscehemes.xml file.
    4. Also changed the parameter in Config Tool "ume.logon.branding_image" to point to new image file name.
Everything worked fine and we are able to see the changes in Portal logon screen.
But there is no image displayed on other applications like User Management, WebDynpro. Does these application uses any other PAR file.
Please suggest what needs to be done so that same images are being displayed on all Java pplication - portal, user management, web dynpro, etc.
    Thanks
    Davinder

Only portal logon screen as contrlled by the PAR file. This is a portal specific tool and does not apply to other Java apps. Changing those other apps is not officially supported, but some people will replace the branding images etc. Just search under \usr\sap\<SID> for the brandingimage files and replace them as necessary.

  • IPhoto shows thumbnail for screen snapshots but no image

My mother-in-law just got back from a several month long trip in South America.  She has thousands of photos from a camera and iPad2 which she uploaded into iPhoto on her iMac.  Almost all of the photos are fine, but she discovered that any snapshot images that she took of her iPad's screen have a thumbnail, but no full-size image attached to it.  I found several other threads where an exclamation or blank screen popped up when the person clicked on the thumbnail.  When she clicks on a thumbnail, it brings up another photo from a completely different time (several years ago).  She has uploaded snapshots in the past with no trouble, and has not updated her OS or iPhoto since then.
Has anyone experienced the same problem and if so, what did you do to find the missing images?  I am unable to give her product details right now, but will update once I have access to that information.  Her iMac is 4 or 5 years old, and she is probably running on an older version of iPhoto.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!  Cheers, Erika

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to rebuild the thumbnails. It can take 3 or 4 goes for this to work

  • Imac screen blackout but computer still working..Helpp

I'am writing this due to the fact that I couldn't find my specific issue on any forum or area of the apple community. This happened last night after a bad storm knocked out the electricity while my computer was on. When I turned my computer back on this morning, I could hear the "Rev Up"/Start Sound and Next I would see the startup screen/password box that I normally would see, but it only flashed for a second then the screen went black. But the computer doesn't shut down, everything stays on! I can even put in the OS X utility Disk and eject it, I even tried to hold down the C key to activate it And it sounds like its working but the screen stays black. After I tried this, I manually tried to shut the computer down, but when I do, it immediatly goes into hibernation mode. When I go to turn it on again, I see my same log in screen, for a quick second then the screen goes Black again. It seems like the computer is working, like as if I could log on and use my computer, but just can't see anything because the SCREENS ALL BLACK! Im even thinking maybe to purchase a DVI to ACD cord in order to set up a seperate monitor in order to see if I can still access my computer...Any ideas anyone?? Or anywhere someone could direct me..or has this happened to anyone?.. Major Thanks in advance apple community, you never let me down.

    Hi ccrosby94
In System Preferences > Energy Saver set Computer sleep: to Never and Display sleep to a few min's or sleep the display using an Active Screen Corner.

  • DW8 says there's no margin, but the image is still 10 or so pixels off

Okay, so I'm new to DW and am using DW8 (what's the newest
    version anyway?)
Here's the background and my problem:
I'm working with a graphics designer in redesigning the site
for our non-profit organization, and she has a gradient along the
left side of the page. At the top of the gradient, she has a logo
blends with the gradient. The navigation bar then runs along the
top of the page with drop-down menus designed in Fireworks. It's a
beautiful design, but I'm having trouble getting things to work
properly when I'm importing them into DW.
Once again, I'm new to DW as well as FW, but I'm a quick
learner (i think). I brought these aspects (the gradient, logo,
site name, and nav bar) together in FW. I want these to form the
template for all the pages of the site so I brought them into DW to
do so. However, I need to make sure the background (the gradient)
repeats without the logo repeating. So I exported it separately and
set it as the page background using page properties. I thought that
would be simple enough. However, I can't export just the logo as a
.jpg (which it needs to be in order to look right) without it being
having a white background and no longer blending with the gradient.
So now I thought to myself, that I'd export the whole FW
image (with the gradient, logo, and nav bar) to DW and simply place
it over the gradient background, inserting it as an image, so that
these things show up at the top of the page but the gradient
continues beneath the image. It's been an amazingly frustrating
process, and I know that last idea probably sounds ridiculous to
those more experienced than myself. However, I think it may
actually work. The only problem, and a big one, is that when I
insert the image for the whole FW document (or even for just the
logo itself), even when it says the page has no margins or padding,
it still seems to set this image in and down about 10 pixesls,
making it offset with the gradient background and leaving the edge
of the logo visible (which is supposed to look like it runs off the
page). How can I fix this?
And once it's working, how do I set these two areas, the side
gradient with logo and the top nav bar with site name, to be the
template for the rest of the site with the big open area I have
left on the rest of the page as the editable region? It seems to me
like once I get this set as the template, the rest of the pages
will come together fairly quickly and easily.
Is there another way to do this that would be easier? I'm
very much open to suggestions. I don't yet have the site up on a
testing server to show anyone online, but if you would like to
    email me
    [email protected], I'd
welcome the correspondence and help in getting this working. I'd
also be willing to send the .html files to someone by email if they
could be helpful. Sorry for the long post, but I've spent all day
working on this problem, and am absolutely desperate. Please help,
and thank you for your time.

You need to set 0 margin and padding on the body tag. Copy
    the following
into the head of your document just before the closing head
    tag (/head>)
Preferably it should go into an external stylesheet, but by
    the sounds of
things you are not using this as yet.
    <style type="text/css">
    <!--
    body {
    padding: 0;
    margin: 0;
background-color: White; /*change to suit whatever your
    background image is
    -->
    </style>

Once you have added the above to your page, you need to save
    the page as a
Template. You will be asked to create an editable region
    (which is the area
that will be changed on each child page created from this
    template).
The DW help files do offer some information on how to create
    Template
pages - that may be the first stop for you :-)

  • Re: Equium A200 screen is dim

    Hello,
I have a Toshiba Equium A200 Laptop with a dim screen. I have changed the inverter and the screen but the image is
    still dim.
I came to the conclusion that the lid close switch was faulty but have stripped the laptop down and cannot for the life of me find it.
Either I am going blind or this laptop doesnt have one - which I thought unusual.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance.

May I ask you why you came to this conclusion?
    Is your screen completely dark?
For me it makes no sense searching and replacing any lid close switches if the screen is dim
I think that its still an FL inverter issue. It could be also a display issue but Im not 100% sure
Possibly you have not installed the FL inverter correctly or maybe you used a wrong part
I think you should contact the notebook technician to find out whats going wrong with your notebook!

  • Equium A60 Laptop crashes/blue screen when LAN Cable is in?

    Hi all,
I have a Toshiba Equium A60 Laptop now for under a year.
    I am running WinXp Sp2
Yesterday, my laptop started to crash flashing a blue screen (No time to see what it says as computer Restarts too quickly).
I found that it only seems to crash when the LAN Cable is plugged ine.g. If I start the Laptop it will start-up as usual but when it starts to communicate with the network/router (as I can see by watching the little blue Screens in the Task Bar Bottom right) it Crashes. Ive tried a different port on the router but no luck.
My Network card is: Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC
It runs ok in Safe mode and doesnt crash.
I updated the Driver but and it still does the same.
I then decided to restore my Laptop back to Day One/Factory Default via the Toshiba Recovery DVD.
When restored it worked fine all day (had internet access via the network) until I clicked: Set up a home or small office network in the control panel. It crashed again the same way. Now it will continually crash as above.
Could this be a problem with my cable?
    Please help..Any ideas?
    Thanks loads,
    Shay

    Hi Shay,
The blue screen of death (BSoD) can be a particularly annoying problem because it can be very tricky to trace the source of the crashes.
Read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_screen_of_death for some more information on it.
    Common causes are ...
    - faulty hardware (could be the network card, or ram, or hard drive)
    - bad device drivers
    - overheating
    - corrupted software/operating system
As you said that you've used the recovery DVD and the problem still persists, this says to me that it is a hardware issue (as long as image loaded on with no errors and DVD is in good condition).
Easy things you could try are ...
    - changing the network cable (unlikely the problem but always worth a try)
    - checking the network card port for debris/damage
    - reseat the ram/hard drive
    - load on an operating system from scratch, if you have it (not using recovery DVD)
If none of these work and the laptop is under warranty, get the motherboard/network card replaced.
If not under warranty, try the debugging tool for Windows ... http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/devtools/debugging/default.mspx
    Good luck!

  • Equium A60: Blue Screen issue

I've got a Equium A60 Series (PSA667E), reconditioned. There's a blue screen apearing sometimes, when I start up, sending me a message of error. I've tried to upgrade my BIOS, as the website indicated. But a message tell me that I dont need, because its already upgraded. So, I've got the correct BIOS but my blue screen problem persist. What can I do....

    Hi
Sometimes the blue screen appears because of serious software error or a hardware malfunction (memory). Well, its not easy to say why this message occurs in you case because we dont have detailed informations. Usually the OS installation solves commonly the blue screen errors. But if there is a hardware fault so only a ASP could solve this issue.

  • Equium A60 Blue Screen after updating to XP Home SP2

I have a Toshiba Equium A60-692. I have updated to XP SP2 and now get a blue screen on start up with the message that ATI driver ATI2DVG has gone into a continuous loop. The Microsoft error report says this is due to incompatable drivers, but I have the latest driver from Toshiba.
    Anyone have any ideas?

    HI Laura,
if it is important for you to install SP2 on your notebook you should try a complete new OS.
At first save your data on an external device (CD, DVD, USB-HDD, ...) and start the Toshiba recovery CD. But pay attention all data will be lost, also other partitions!!!
After the new fresh OS is ready, update your drivers, Tools and QFEs from Toshiba HP and install it!
I the end try the SP2 installation! Then it should run!
    Bye Meier

  • After screen replacement, top half of screen starts by looking normal but then fades to black while bottom half stays bright but with images blury. What might went wrong?

A friend recently gave me their old Macbook pro 15 because they broke the screen and the Apple store quoted them $500-600 to fix it. I looked online and bought a screen of ebay for $170 in hopes of fixing it myself. After getting the screen I hooked it up using the steps I found online. Sadly when I turned it on, the top half of the screen was working apparently normally, but then it faded to black. The bottom half stayed bright with color the whole time but the images were always blurred. When I close the screen with it on, then open it after turning the computer on, the top half lights up with my desktop images as if it is working fine but then fades to black. The bottom is still blurred the whole time. What all could be wrong? Display cable, Inverter cable, not registering the screen or something, the screen is bad? I don't now a ton about all this and I have learned most of what I know from online research. I am not sure if I should send the screen back or if there is another issue. I just want to fix this thing.

Unfortunately, you don't even know the lower half of the computer is working properly, because you didn't have it until after it had been abused. So forget the attached screen for the moment. Connect an external monitor to it, fire it up, and see whether you can get a usable image on the external screen. If you can, send the defective "new" screen back for a refund, or replace the LVDS video cable first to make sure that's not where the problem lies, and if it isn't, then resort to sending the screen back. If you can't get a good image on the external, give the junk machine back to your friend and walk away.

    Hi,
I would try a Safe Boot first.  (This will take longer than a normal Boot and you will need to Restart afterwards).
If it were an older OS I would also suggest going to System Preferences > Displays and making sure the display is set to Millions.  (My MacBook Pro does not have this option in Snow Leopard so I did presume Snow Leopard does not have it).
With some laptops there have been some issues with the cable up the back of the screen pulling loose with regular and frequent use of the lid, but this will not apply to you based on your specs.  (it does take time to appear and is also somewhat rare). However it seems enough contact with the camera can make it appear in System Profiler and power it on but not give a pic.
If a Safe Boot does not work I would also try a PRAM reset.
    Shut down the computer.
Restart it holding down Apple/CMD (or ⌘)+ALT( ⌥)+P+R Keys until you have heard three Start Up Bongs.
This is actually "less" destructive in that it clears less memory items than Safe Boot but they are different enough to warrant trying.
Do you have an older version of iGlasses installed ?
The one for Leopard does not work for Snow Leopard.
Do you have  Web Browser open ?
This may point to  Google Video Chat Plug-in and Flash Conflict.  It would be rare to allow another app to access the camera even if not displayiong a Pic.
(Chrome Installs the Plug-in as does the standalone download).
Knowing  what "any application" exactly you are trying might help us pin it down.
Any additional downloaded  apps that can use the camera ?
Do you happen to have something balck in front of the camera ?
