The "Program ID" field is case sensitive, it must appear EXACTLY the same in the SAP RFC(SM59) as it does in the SAP PI.
There is no extra step involve to register program id.
Just make sure that you have defined program id in both the cases, i.e RFC destination as well as the channel.

Hi all
We need to test some data loads for RFC and connection settings . How do we go about it ?
Thanks allHi,
Actually choosing 'Check' option on source sytem is sufficient to check the conection seetings. If you do not satisfied with this, Do full load of any master data or full/initial upload of selective Transaction data(by filling setup tables).

Function Module or class to Check RFC HTTP Connection
Hi All,
Please can u tell me the FM or CLASS used to check the connection of an RFC HTTP Connection.
Regards
SrinivasHave a look at function module HTTP_GET_FILE, view the source of this function, there is a call to FORM check_http_destination. Double click this routine. Notice the call to function RFC_READ_TCPIP_DESTINATION, maybe this function will help you.

RFC Destination Connection Pool requirement
Hi Experts,
I have a custom webdynpro java application to display number of work items pertaining to that particular user in a backend.
There are users who dont use this functionality as well. But the requirement is to place this application in home screen.
I have used both metadata and modeldata with hard coded user since we did not want error messages to appear for users who do not have backend access.
Application & Access Details
Application Location : Home Screen
Concurrent Users : 600 concurrent users maximum possible value
Connection Usage : Close connection immediately using disconnectIfAlive() method.
Now I need to configure JCO Pool Size , Max Connections, Wait Time for the RFC destination.
I have read a lot of post and documents but could not acheive clarity of thought on this.
Kindly let me know what values I should give in these fields for optimal performance and no connection issue for users.
Regards,
PorselvanHi Muthavudaiyan,
Hope you are doing good.
Basically from the JCo perspective, there are only 5 parameters that are involved here:
jco.destination.pool_capacity:
Maximum number of connections that are held open in the pool for reuse (default: 1)
jco.destination.peak_limit:
Maximum number of connections that can be obtained from a pool at peak usage times
jco.destination.max_get_client_time:
Maximum time to wait for a free connection if the peak limit is reached before exception is thrown
jco.destination.expiration_time:
Timeout period after which pooled idle connections can be closed (default: 600000ms = 10mins)
jco.destination.expiration_check_period:
Regular time interval for checking if pooled connections have expired and will be closed
The values are determined by the application in question. The ideal values have to told to you by the application developer; there are no two ways about this.
Thank you and have a nice day :).
Kind Regards,
Hemanth -
Calling a RFC using connection pool
Can I use connection pool to call a RFC from my R3? I'm using SAP Enterprise Connector but I don't want to pass user/password hardcoded.
Thanks in advance.Hi Kiran,
Yes I used SAP JRA and it works.
You need JRA deployed and configured on WAS, your basis guy can do it for you. The next step is download this PDF <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/ad09cd07-0a01-0010-93a9-933e247d3ba4">Accessing BAPIs Using the SAP Java Resource Adapter</a>.
Follow this document, it's very easy to do so. -

Hello Friends
I am running a program which is using a RFC destination (PS_ACCESS_2).
The program runs well when I run it in the foreground but in the background it gave error.
To over come the error I made some changes to the RFC destination.
The changes are as below.
1)If you check the Rfc dest PS_ACCESS_2 in sm59 it is pointing to a exe file. I kept this file in application server and checked the radio button "start on application server".
2) I clicked the radiobutton "specify timeout" and increased the timeout value.
Inspite of these changes when I try to test the connection it gives error.
the error says " logon Error".
Kindly help me resolve this error
Thanks in Advance
SudheendraHi kishore
There is no option to enter User name and password though there is a tab "logon & Security".
In the tab "Logon & Security" I can see the below things
Send SAP logon ticket -> This is checked in my case.
Status of secure protocol -> This is set to inactive in my case.
Any help will be greatly appreciated -
Adaptive RFC model connectivity to SAP R/3 4.6 B

I think SLD,s/w Catalog and Creating Logical Systems were Configured,
Go through the Following Steps Like,
-- General Data, Enter the Client of the System and Client No. (JCo Connection is Pointing to)
--J2EE Cluster, Select the J2EE Cluster you wish the JCo destination to be assigned
-- Select the Destination Type, Either Application/Dictionary data
-- Appl.Server, You may only select Servers/Logon Groups From the Drop down list that have first been defined as technical Systems in SLD.
-- Message Server, Application Data JCo destination is connected must have atleast one logon group.( if this is not done ,use SMLG transaction code to create in SAP System)
--Security, If you have selected connection Type as Application Data , then in the Security Screen you would appear Authentication Techniques and select a appropriate one .
if you have selected connection type as a Dictionary meta data then provide User Name and Password
If this is useful to you ,don't forget to award Points

RFC Sender: Connection refused
Hi experts,
We are running a scenario with a RFC Sender communication channel.
When the RFC is executed this error occurs in the Runtime Workbench:
Transmitting the message using connection HOSTNAME failed, due to: com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.DeliveryException: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect
Our basis reported that the HOSTNAME value is incorrect, but could not tell where this information is configurated.
Can anybody tell where is this hostname configurated?
Is there any transaction to check the error?
Thanks anyway.David,
http://SERVER:8002/sap/xi/engine?type=entry is your integration pipeline URL which belongs to your XI box.
In trasaction SXMB_ADM there are two ways through which you can enter the pipeline URL for the corresponding IE of XI system.
1) By creating and RFC destination and referring that in field "Corresponding Integ. Server" and
2) By directlyspecifying the pipeline URL in above mentioned field
in your case the URL is entered using 2nd option that can be edited by an option Edit-> Change Global parameters.
it will allow you to change the server name.
Thanks,

RFC SDK, connect with japanese username to a unicode SAP system
Hello everybody,
I try to connect with a japanese username to a unicode SAP system. I use VC++ and make the call like this:
BYTE utf8_byteArray[10] = {0xE3, 0x81, 0x8A, 0xE3, 0x81, 0x99, 0xE3, 0x81, 0x99, 0x00 };
CString sJapUser(utf8_byteArray);
sConnectParam.Format( cU("CLIENT=%s USER=%s PASSWD=%s LANG=%s SYSNR=%d ASHOST=%s PCS=2"),
"800",
sJapUser,
"password",
"EN",
1,
"9.22.104.145");
hRfc = ::RfcOpenEx( (char*)(LPCTSTR)sConnectParam, &error_info);
I tried it with different codepages and PCS settings (1/2) too but i always get the error:
"Name or password is incorrect (repeat logon)"
When I connect to a non unicode japanese system in locale encoding it works.
Another thing i saw is that the utf8 string is truncated after 12 bytes (12 character/bytes is the limit of user name length). When I use a japanese username with 6 japanese symbols (18 bytes in utf8) I see the following in the RFC trace:
rfcOpenHooked
destination <unknown>
mode 3
conopt 3 hostname 9.22.104.145
conopt 3 sysnr 1
conopt 3 use_l_bal 0
conopt 3 use_sapgui 0
client 800
user おすすめ (here the username misses 2 japanese characters)
language E
trace 0
L-GetCodePage (DEFAULT-CP) rc = 0: 1100
Here the username is correct:
>>> RfcOpenEx ...
Got following connect_param string:
CLIENT=800 USER=おすすめダウ PASSWD=******* LANG=EN SYSNR=1 ASHOST=9.22.104.145 CODEPAGE=4110 PCS=2
Send RFCHEADER: 01/LIT/IEEE/SPACE/4110
Send UNICODE-RFCHEADER: cp:4110/ce:IGNORE/et:5/cs:1/rc:0x00000023
In the RFC trace the username is truncated (only 12 bytes(4 characters) instead of 18 bytes (6 characters))

To connect with japanese usernames using the SAP-GUI works fine but the rfc traces show that the connection is established in another way.
Can anyone help me with this or is it just impossible to use japanese usernames for logon with RFC.
Thank you in advance. Please note the header of this forum: "This forum is dedicated to all other development-related questions which are not directly addressed by other forums. RFC SDK connect call fails for NW2004s SPS13 if password in lowercase
Hi all,
I am running a sample rfc program on solaris m/c.
SAP server details
2004s SPS13
I am using a communication user to connect to server using RFC SDK.
If i connect to the server with password in smaller case it gives aerror message
"Name or password is incorrect"
But if i give the password in capital case,it works fine.
BAsically i have to create a user with acapital password to work fine on SPS13
ON SPS12 it worked fine for lower case password.
Best Regards

Hi,
Wanted to create JCO connection from EP to CRM server . Can you please guide how to create JCO conenction.
As per my knowledge in Visual admin - >JCO RFC provider we need to create .
not sure what are the entries to maintain.
Thanks
TomHi Tom,
See this link:
First of all you have configure SLD:
/people/sugree.phatanapherom/blog/2005/08/14/configuring-sld-in-sneak-preview-sap-netweaver-04-sneak
/thread/146517 [original link is broken]
Configure SLD
SLD configuration successful then you have to create JCO connection:

How can we know perticular rfc is connected to process code and subprocess
Hi all,
we are integrating plm system to SAP ERP system(ecc). Plm system is connected to sap through sap CAD INTERFACE. In the cad interface they are configured process codes(5 chatecters length for identifying application like BOMCN for BOM) and subprocess codes(2 characters length for crete , delete e.t.c).
These functions call dialog rfc interface like BOM_CREATE_BILL_OF_ MATERIAL. My question is how these process codes are calling RFC's and these are dialog rfc's how we can run in backgroung procesing. I will appreciate for early reply.Hi Prasad,

RFC sender connect to PI results in ST22 error - CALL_FUNCTION_NOT_FOUND
Hello,
we are doing an RFC connect with a self defined RFC (simply a trigger, a report that calls a FM with a single value) to
PI.
The connectivity is working, sender channel in comm.channel monitoring is in green.
The function module is imported to PI and implemented in the related scenario.
But when we try to start the call to PI this will simply result in an ST22 error on PI with the message
CALL_FUNCTION_NOT_FOUND.
Does anybody here have an idea about that issue?
We are on SAP PI 7.0 SP 15.
Regards
Dirk> Out implementation:
> We have a TCP IP connection in SM59 of the R/3 with host and service entries for the R/3 system and the registered server prg. name that is the same as in the comm.channel (know about case sensivity).
> The prog. is registered in SMGW on the R/3 now.
This looks perfect!
> In the report where we are calling the function module the destination is the PI connection added as a ABAP Type 3 connection in SM59 of the R/3 system.
Suppose you created TCP IP connection with a name R3_TO_XI, then in the report you have to code it as shown below.
CALL FUNCTION 'your RFC FM name here'
IN BACKGROUND TASK
DESTINATION 'R3_TO_XI'
TABLES
COMMIT WORK.

Error in wizard to create new RFC model: connect to message server failed
Hi,
I am trying to create a new RFC model in my Web Dynpro project in NWDS. In the wizard, I reach the step where I am required to enter the SAP login information. I then enter the details in the Load Balancing tab and click Next. The error message I get is:
Connect to message server failed
Connect_PM MSHOST=****, R3NAME=*, GROUP=**
LOCATION CPIC (TCP/IP) on local host ***
ERROR service '***" unknown
(Note: the *** are client-specific and therefore confidential info so I am removing them).
The thing is, a colleague of mine is also doing the same thing, but he is not encountering this error.
Can someone help me troubleshoot this?Hi
The user you use to connect in the RFC should have the authorization to S_RFC. In the Duet installation guide look for the section about defining a system user ID in UME. This section has details about the authorization required for the user.
Thanks
