ERP 2005 (ECC6) Ramp-up and Solution Manager

Can anyone share their experiences in using SOLMAN 3.2 as part of an ECC6 Ramp-up project?  To what extent is Solution Manager actually being used and what for?
Thanks . . .

We are a ramp up customer and we are using SOLMAN 3.2 for a lot of things.  Project management, monitoring etc.
What we would like to use it for also is service desk and management of transports, but we havent got that far.
If you have any more questions lemme know.

  • Install both SAP ECC 6.0 EHP 4 and Solution Manager in C drive

    Hi, SDN fellows.
I just want to confirm this.
I am trying to install SAP ECC 6.0 EHP 4 and Solution Manager in C drive. Are these OK, since they both will be installed under the C:\usr folder?
What precaution we need to install these two SAP components in the same drive (C)?
I am installing both components in MS Window Server 2008 R2 SP1 with MS SQL Server 2005 SP3.
    Thanks,
    KC

    Hi, Nick.
Sorry, I missed the "IDES". I am installing SAP ECC6.0 EHP4 IDES system for training purpose within the organization.
I am referring to the Installation Guide - SAP ERP 6.0 EHP Ready ABAP on Window MS SQL Server (Based on NW 7.0 incl EHP 1). All downloaded installation files are from: EHP4 for SAP ERP 6.0/NW7.01 --> IDES --> --> Widnows Server --> MS SQL Server.
The OS is installed in C drive.
I have allocated 250GB in C drive and 200GB in D drive from SAN.
For IDES system (I know it is similar to the standard ECC), is it also recommended to install in D drive (separate from the OS)?
In this case, should I install both Solution Manger and IDES in D drive?
Or what is the best combination where I should install these two systems?
    Thanks,
    KC

    Hi
    check following
    /thread/170347 [original link is broken]
The only difference between ECC5 and ECC6 is that additional components like mySAPCRM, mySAPPLM, mySAPSCM, mySAPSRM are added in ECC6.0. HR was already a part of ECC5.0.

  • Pagefile for SAP Erp2005 and Solution Manager 4.0

    Hi all,
I've installed SAP ERP2005 and Solution Manager 4.0 on the same server with Windows 2003 Standard 32bit.
The RAM on this server is 3325MB.
How many paging file I must configure???
At the moment I configured the pagefile size as defined in the installation guide:
    1 RAM + 8GB that is 12285MB.
    Is it correct????
For both instance I set the PHYS_MEM parameter to 2328 (70% of the RAM)...is it correct??
P.S. How to calculate the [BE] parameters??
[BE] = maximum possible number of user calculated from the size of physical main memory
    Thanks in advanced
    Moreno

    I agree with Yaroslav,
you should NOT set those values:
    em/initial_size_MB  |----    [PM]  |----    [PM]   |Mbyte     |
    |---    em/max_size_MB  |---    20000  |---   100000   |Mbyte     |
    |  em/address_space_MB  |-----    512  |-----   4096   |Mbyte     |
    |----  ztta/roll_first  |-------    1  |-------    1   |Byte      |
    |---    ztta/roll_area  |---  2000000  |---  3000000   |Byte      |
    |  ztta/roll_extension  |  2000000000  |  2000000000   |Byte      |
    |    abap/heap_area_dia  |  2000000000  |           2000000000   |Byte     |
    | abap/heap_area_nondia  |  2000000000  |           0  |Byte      |
    |  abap/heap_area_total  |  2000000000  |[PM]*1048576   |Byte      |
    |-    rdisp/ROLL_MAXFS  |  [BE] * 100   |  [BE] * 100   |8KB Block |
    |---    rdisp/ROLL_SHM  |  [BE] * 100   |  [BE] * 100   |8KB Block |
    |---    rdisp/PG_MAXFS  |---    32768  |---    32768   |8KB Block |
    |-----    rdisp/PG_SHM  |
so... that [BE] value is not to be used.

  • User synchronization issue between Active Directory and Solution manager.

    Requirement:
Synchronize the users between Active directory and solution manager system.
    <u>What we did:</u>
    1.     Created RFC connection (LDAP_RFC) for LDAP connector.
    2.     Created new LDAP connector that utilize the RFC (LDAP_RFC).
    3.     Created new logical LDAP Server(CUA).Here we have to maintain the connection
    details to the physical directory.
    4.     We maintained the communication user that is used by the LDAP connector to bind the LDAP Directory Server.
    5.     In transaction LDAPMAP specific SAP data fields, we mapped to the desired
    directory attributes.
    6.     Testing from LDAP transaction working fine. We are able to see the attributes and
    values       from Active directory.
    <b><u>Issue:</u></b>
When executed the program RSLDAPSYNC_USER for user synchronization from t-code se38 with below selection .
LDAP Server = CUA (created earlier)
LDAP Connector = LDAP_RFC (RFC connection created created ealier)
In the tab: (Object that exist both in the directory and in the Database:)
    Selected: Compare Time Stamp.
In the tab: (Objects the only exist in the Directory.)
    Selected : Create in Database.
In the tab(Objects that only Exist in the Database:
    Selected: Ignore Object.
Result from the report shows that connection to LDAP server is fine and ‘0’(zero) objects in Directory.
The program does not create any new user in the Solution Manager system.
Any help on this issue greatly appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Harish

where did you see this error ? is there anymore details.
i think the account you are using for Sync does not have Replicate Directory Changes permission in AD. follow below article and give Replicate directory changes permission.

  • EP and Solution Manager Via Webdispatcher

    Solution Manager Via Webdispatcher
    Dear All,
We have installed the Webdispatcher 7.4 and did the SSL setup and maintained necessary parameters to  access our Portal and ECC systems from internet and its working fine for indepedent Java and ABAP stack.
Now when we are trying to access the solution manager via webdispatcher using webgui, it opens but when its calling the webdynpros like solman_setup, the page is not openning. The same case is in our portal system also, when its calling the webdynpro of backend system its not openning.
During our analysis we found the urls are called from the local machine to the backend host (ABAP)  directly and there is no where its communicating the webdispatcher.
Can you please guide me what kind up setup can be done to access the Portal and solution manager complete functionality via webdispatcher.
I have checked many posts on the forum and was totally confused on the solution approches. So trying to filter it down to do a proper setup which is feasible to our landscape and infra team.
FYI Our Solman is on 7.1 SPS10 and portal is on 7.4, OS windows
Looking forward for your valuable inputs
    Thanks & Regards,
    Satyabrat

    Thanks Samuli,
I tried it..its working for solman but in my ECC (NW 7.31) its not working for web dynpros. Its going to hostname:8001 port and not redirecting to webdispatcher.
Pleae let me know if I am missing something.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • How to start installing CRM, ERP and SOLUTION MANAGER on a VM

    Dear all,
It has been some years now that I installed a CRM and ERP system (this was in the days of dual stack ). Now I see that dual stack is depricated and that everything runs on a Netweaver base.
    My question is now the following;
Can someone please tell me how to proceed to install these 3 SAP components on 1 server, each on its own virtual machine?
I suspect that I will first have to install the OS (RHEL 5.6 64 bit) and then I will have to install the DB (Oracle 11.2i). After this I start the installation of the SAP component or is there someting I need to do to get the Netweaver part on the server first?
And where can I find EXACTLY which files I need to download from the SAP site for each component, because the CRM part for instance has a ton of files and there is nowhere an indication that says '"this is the normal installation package".
    Kind regards,
    David

    not quite right.
You start sapinst, it will proceed a number of sections and then request you to install the database. Do not install the database before. This is also convered in the respective installation guide.
    > And where can I find EXACTLY which files I need to download from the SAP site for each component, because the CRM part for instance has a ton of files and there is nowhere an indication that says '"this is the normal installation package".
This depends on how you use the CRM system, whether you use componnets, that require Java or not.
All that is covered in the installation and master guides. Yes, they are big and yes, they contain a lot of redundant information. But don't expect to start a program and do next-next-finish.
I would start with Solution Manager becaues you will need that system to generate installation keys for the other systems.

  • Problem with Aris and Solution Manager

    Hi,
I'm trying to synchronize Aris and SAP Solution Manager.
I'm doing installation and configuration following Administration Guide
chap. 7 from Aris for Netweaver guide, but, I have a problem when I
try to transfer projects from Aris to SolMan.
In the main ARIS menu from ARIS Business Architecture for SAP NetWeaver>
Aris Network>LOCAL>Synchronization>Maingroup, a SAPLogon screen appears
to logon to SolMan system, ask for Client, User and PWD.
I put the same user/pwd that I use to logon to SolMan, but ARIS cannot
connect to, an error message appears "User or password incorrect".
Does anyone have idea about this problem??
    Thanks

    Mariana,
try changing your password to all CAPS in Solman.
    regards,
    Jason

  • Install ECC 6.0 and Solution Manager on same server Error (MaxDB/Linux)

I have installed Solution manager on one server and then ECC 6 also in the same server with another SID. during the installation it errored out at phase "SLD configuration" with UME error , J2EE_ADMIN locked etc..we checked the user id and noticed it got locked in ECC 6 system and we unlocked it.
But after the ECC installation the solution manager java engine is not coming up error with "com.sap.security.core.ume.service failed" error. Prior to the ECC installation the Solution Manager J2EE was working.

  • Integration of new BPM (NWDS EHP1) and Solution Manager process graphics

    Hi Experts,
we are trying to use Solution Manager for our client's process documentation. Now, Solution Manager generates a graphic which unfortunately is almost unusable (no lanes, no transaction link, just visio-like graphic). Even the old ASAP 4.6C graphic tool was better and more interactive.
On the other hand the new BPM in NW Developer Studio EHP1 Composition Environment seems to provide a perfect graphical tool for process modeling and documentation.
Does anybody know if there is a (future?) possibility to integrate these two tools?
As an alternative, does anybody have an idea how to get better Solution Manager process graphics?
    Michael Meissner

I also digged a little into this topic since I was wondering about the different modeling techniques SAP currently provides and how they will be integrated in the future.
[This|http://www.feedingthesapecosystem.com/2009/05/sapphire-09-part-ii-high-stakes-of.html] great blog entry about NW BPM also includes some comments about the future vision of integration between NW BPM and SolMan. It looks like in NW BPM 7.2 (planned for end of the year) there will be a "read-only" integration with SolMan processes while in the future there will be a bidirectional integration which means that BPM can import SolMan processes, enhance them and again export the models to SolMan. This is a great step further to the Common Process Layer SAP is referring in the [BPM Roadmap document|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/003cf0a1-e8fa-2a10-7db5-ba245a663d9f&overridelayout=true].

  • EP 6.0, SP11  and Solution Manager 3.2

    Hi everyone,
Is it possible to do add EP satelite systms?
currently I am on solution manger 3.2, kernal 6.40 and
Enterprise Portal 6.0, Service Pack 11
I would really appreciate if anyone can answer this question and great points will be rewarded
    thanks
    Deepak

I like to add enterprise portal atelite systems using solution manger 3.2, but I am not sure if it is doable for enterprise portal 6.0 sp11.
I like to monitor enterprise portal 6.0 sp11 using solution manager 3.2 and add satelite systems. I hope this is clear.

  • CATT's and Solution Manager 3.2

Hi, i'm implementing SAP ECC 5.0 with SolManager 3,2.
    In the SOLAR02 transaction, in the "test case" tab of a process step, i want to assign a Test Case of type "CATT";
Is it possible to assign a CATT already created in the Solution manager instance? I mean, i dont want to assign or create a CATT from another system.
    Thanks in advance!

    Thank You Jonathan!
I already tried that, but the only objects i could set centrally for saving in the SolManager system are:
    1. eCATT test configuration
    2. Manual test cases
I could not assign standard CATT's to be saved centrally in the SolManager.
I do not know if this is a std feature (and CATT's could not be assigned to be saved centrally) or if i'm doing something wrong. Any help is most welcomed.
    Thanks for your help.

  • XI SLD and Solution Manager

    Hi there,
we have a scenario with 2 XI (PI 7.0) Systems (<SIDa>, <SIDb>) with a central SLD for the whole system landscape.
In Solution Manager 4.0, in transaction SMSY (landscape components), one XI is registered as "SAP Exchange Infrastructure --> <SIDa> --> SAP Exchange Infrastructure" with Product Version "SAP Exchange Infrastructure 3.0". The other XI is registered as "SAP Netweaver --> <SIDb> --> Application Server ABAP" with Product Version "SAP Netweaver 2004s".
In my eyes that is wrong (shouldn't both of them be under the same entry?). What can be happened here? How should we resolve that? Could this setting result in problems with EWA or central monitoring?
    Thank you,
    Matthias

    Thanks for the answer!
Just that I get you right: Both XI systems have to be registered twice? Each as WEB AS ABAP and Exchange Infrastructure in Solution Manager?
