ERP 6.0 on Windows 2008 Release 1 - Oracle 10g

Hi
We are evaluating upgrading our R/3 4.7 (Windows 2003) to ERP 6.0 with Oracle on Windows 2008 R1.  Meanwhile, Microsoft released Windows 2008 R2 on Oct.22 and SAP yet to certify the same.
SAP are planning to release new SAP Kernel/Software at the end of first quarter of 2010 for Windows 2008 R2, as Windows 2008 R1 and Windows 2008 R2 use different Windows kernel versions (SAP Note 1383873).
We have to complete our upgrade by April, 2010, so we have no option but to go ahead with Windows 2008 R1 or continue on Windows 2003 until Windows 2008 R2 software is released by SAP.
Does anyone using ERP 6.0 with Windows 2008 R1? Would appreciate any feedback/experiences on ERP 6.0 (Oracle 10g) with Windows 2008 R1.
Regards
Chandu

> We just want to identify any major issues/bugs for  Windows 2008 R1 for ERP 6.0, as Microsoft released new Windows kernel for 2008 R2 and SAP is also treating it as another operating system as per OSS note mentioned in my original post.  If so, we like to continue with Windows 2003 and wait for 2008 R2. Mictosoft retained same kernel for Windows 2003 R1 & R2, hence SAP kernel certified for both.
So even if the certification would be done by april, would you really dare to put a production system on such a new OS? Even if certified by SAP, database and your hardware vendor? I'd consider that risk MUCH higher than using an OS that is released for more than a year.
> We are already on 10.2.0.4.
Yes - what I meant was, that if you install an Oracle database you need to use a different DVD set (with patch for 10.2.0.4 included) as opposed to the old 10.2.0.1 DVD.
> Just wondering whether you have any bad experiences with Windows 2008 R1 and SAP suggested Windows 2008 R2 as a fix etc.
If there would be any big issues running on R1 they would have been published . So far I haven't seen any major bugs or problems; for us Windows 2008 R1 proved rock solid, both virtualized and on bare metal.

  • Issues installing 10g ODAC on Windows 2008 with Oracle 10g Express

I am new to Oracle and am having an issue installing Oracle Data Access Components on Oracle 10g 64bit running on Windows 2008 64bit.
I need the ODAC installed to enable integration with SSIS.
The issue I have if i install using ODAC10203x64 the setup file fails with a javaw error and the ntdll.dll.
I then downloaded the ODAC1110720 which states it backwards compatible. It installs just fine, but now i am not sure as to how to configure it correctly as the Configuration util that loads in ODAC10203x64 does not run.
The ODBC drivers are not visible under the ODBC connection manager although this may be an issue of just opening the 32Bit version.
    Any help would be appreciated

    Hi Ibrahim,
You should decide what you require.
32bit version can be installed on 64bit server and this should work fine (check the certification matrix for this).
The "problem" is that you would not gain any performance benefit from the 64bit server
If you want to have benefit you can upgrade the JVM to 64 bit version.
I did this 3 years ago and I do not remember exact steps though everything worked OK.
    WARNING:
this  can be unsupported, ask support to be sure
    - Install the 32 bit version on the server
    - Download 64 bit Java JRE/JDK and install it (well, you can search the same release as included in the AppServer or try newer one, 7 for example)
    - later, reconfigure the appserver so it uses the version you've installed, OR Copy the everything from c:\progfiles\java\... to the directory OraHome\... (forgot exact directories)
try to search the forum, there had been a thread with the same question

  • Error Intall RWD Uperform 4.3 on Windows 2008 with Oracle 11G

    Hi,
I need install RWD Uperform 4.3 on Windows 2008 with Oracle 11G.
When tried install Uperform 4.3 occurs the next error:
Product: RWD uPerform Server -- This Release requires Oracle 11.2 R2 ODP Client to be Installed.
If you are not using Oracle, please use the regular 4.30.0 release.
If you are using Oracle, please install ODP.NET and then re-run the Setup. Setup will be aborted now.
I installed the ODP.NET whit the version 11.2.0.2.
    But the errors still occur.
    Thanks.
    Marco Kolombesky

In the end I solved my problem.
But I installed RWD uperform 4.4 (not 4.3).
But I think that the problem was that when I installed uperform 4.3 I didn't run this command at DB level on my SQL Server datadabe:
    ALTER DATABASE AdventureWorks2008R2
        SET READ_COMMITTED_SNAPSHOT ON;
    GO

  • Migration from SQL SERVER 2008 to Oracle 10g issues.

    Hi ,
I'm trying to migrate from SQL Server 2008 to Oracle 10g and I end up with some issues that I wanted to ask some info about it.
First, I was following a tutorial
    http://st-curriculum.oracle.com/obe/db/hol08/sqldev_migration/mssqlserver/migrate_microsoft_sqlserver_otn.htm
and and in the last version of Oracle SQL developer I downloaded, I didn't find the Load Database Capture Script Output option.
My first question is how can I either add this option or is there a new way to load the capture script ?
Then I use the migration wizard and after following everything, I had the migration complete message from the application.
When I tried to open my connectionss, it tells me version 11.2 is required. Does that mean that Oracle SQL developper 3 only
do the migration for oracle 11g? And if I tried the previous versions, it doesn't support SQL server 2008.
What do I do in this case ?
    Thanks !

    Thank you for your reply.
After using the wizard and made the offline migration script, in the Migration projects window I made a move data to the oracle connection I previously made and after when I tried to reopen the connection, I couldn't.
Well I didn't retry it yet to see if I'll have the same behavior but basically this is what I think I did. When I tried to open the connection I made, it says, Oracle 11.2 is required.
Now, I just generate target from the convert model and it says migration complete but how do I test it and I do I go to oracle and see change ?
Do I had to create a special user in SQL Server to log to it first ? How do I logon to it ?

  • Many dead cmd.exe on Windows 2008 R2 Oracle 11.2.0.2 RAC Installation

After successful installation of a two node Oracle RAC 11.2 on Windows 2008 R2 we investigate a daily growing number of cmd.exe all running the following statement:
    *C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe  /K D:\oracle\cluster\11.2.0\grid\bin\cluvfy  comp health -_format*
Does anyone know the originator/source of this "cluvfy" command?
    Maybe the Grid Control Agent?
We think, that the "/K" option is the problem, i.e. the reason while the cmd.exe will not terminate.
When we run the "cluvfy" manually everythings results successfully.
    Thanks for your reply.
    Michael

I have done the same and get the run around from the support tech when I ask for clarification. Even asked duty manager for assistance and was sent right back to the support tech that I could not get conclusive answers to my question from the first time. Seems he is telling me that he opened a new bug up for my answer but the description of the problem is not the same so how can I believe him. He wants me to apply patch 12 but I thought the later patches set are supposed to contain previous patches, so why not apply patch 14 or newest. Seems none of the patches show that they solve the Windows Heap Issue for 11.2.0.3. Even the bug note says it will be fixed in 11.2.0.4. Just one more reason we are planning (although against my better judgement) to move away from oracle.

  • Java gets error pki-02002 accessing wallet on windows 2008 with Oracle 12 only

I have a windows 2008 server with Oracle 12 client installed and I can't figure out what is preventing me from running java commands that use the wallet.  The wallet itself seems to be fine as I can log in with SQLPLUS using the wallet, it is only when I try to run a java command that it fails with a PKI-02002 error.
Also - I can run the same command line without error with oracle 11 installed, so it seems to be something that differs between oracle 11 and 12.   Any ideas of what I should look for?  I've checked permissions on
    Here is the error:
java.sql.SQLException: encountered a problem with the Secret Store. Check the wallet location for the presence of an open wallet (cwallet.sso) and ensure that this wallet contains the correct credentials using the mkstore utility: java.io.IOException: PKI-02002: Unable to open the wallet. • Connect from Windows Client to Oracle 10g for Windows 64-bit

Have an environment currently running Oracle 10g 32-bit on Windows 2000 Standard, and need to migrate to Oracle 10g 64-bit for Windows. Users connect to the 10g 32-bit database using the Oracle Client for Windows 10g loaded on remote PC's. If we migrate to the Oracle 10g 64-bit on Windows 2003 Server Enteprise Edition 64-bit, what type of client do I have to install on the PC's to access the Oracle 10g 64-bit database?
Any ehlp/insight will be greatly appreciated.
    Eduardo in Michigan

In addition to install 32-bit Oracle client to 32-bit Windows OS, you need to know whether your application is compiled to run in 32-bit or 64-bit.
This is critical because 32-bit application can not see 64-bit Oracle ODBC and OLE DB provider.
For example, MS SQL Server 2005 uses 32-bit DTS, and SSIS, which needs 32-bit Oracle client
If you don't know, get a copy of both 32-bit and 64-bit Oracle client, and try one-by-one to know for sure. Please be aware that if regsvr32.exe in the Windows has been overwritten by older software installation, it won't register some DLL properly, and Oracle ODBC, or OLE DB won't show up as well

  • More than one SAP systems on same Windows Server 2003 - Oracle 10g

    Hello Experts,
We have Windows Server 2003 with 32 GB RAM, 2 quadcore CPU, plenty of space. Already running with NW 700 AS Java on Oracle 10g.
Now we need to install a seperate NW 700 AS Java central instance - so please help me in clarifying following doubts - we don't want to use MCOD.
    1. Do we need to install Oracle 10g software again or we can use the existing Oracle 10g installed files. If yes then will the Oracle Home for both the SAP instances will be same - any steps needs to be done for that.
    2. Any other steps which needs to be taken care before and after the second instance installation.
3.SAP Note 98252 - speaks about changes in oraInst.loc before the second instance installation - Does it applicable for Windows - Oracle environment also. I am not able to find out this file.
Listener and Tnsnames file changes mentioned in this note seems to be applicable on windows platform also.
Pointers to related documentation would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Davinder

    Hello Davinder,
    > 1. Do we need to install Oracle 10g software again or we can use the existing Oracle 10g installed files. If yes then will the Oracle Home for both the SAP instances will be same - any steps needs to be done for that
Theoretical you can use the same ORACLE_HOME, but i would really recommend to install the database software again in a different ORACLE_HOME. It will make a lot of things easier
    > 2. Any other steps which needs to be taken care before and after the second instance installation.
The same as by the first installation, but keep in mind of the listener port - you will need to specify a different one.
    > Does it applicable for Windows - Oracle environment also. I am not able to find out this file.
On windows it is a registry key (for more information please take a look at metalink note #564192.1)
    C:\>reg query HKLM\SOFTWARE\ORACLE /v inst_loc

  • OS/DB Migration to Windows X64 bit /Oracle 10G from OS400/DB4 V5R4

    Hi,
We need to do the OS/ DB migration in BI servers .. Kindly guide me .. what are the prerequesties ?
I think we can achieve this throught Heterogeneous system copy .
    Source system    Target system
    NW2004 -BI 7.0   NW2004 -BI 7.0
    DB4 V5R4           Oracle 10G
    OS400               Win2003 x64
SAP kernel 700    SAP Kernel 700
    Thanks in advance ..
    gnanaprakasam

    Hi
You need perform a heterogeneus system copy with sapinst
    Chose the sap system->Software Life-Cycle options->system copy->database
    And perform in tree steps
    export preparation
    table splitting preparation
    database istance export
It create a export database, and with the sapinst you import in Target system

  • 11.1.2 on 64bit Windows 2008 R2 - Oracle HTTP Server  assembly missing

After downloading and unpacking everything into a single folder and running InstallTool, I'm finding 'Oracle HTTP' is showing as missing.
No other product is missing, just the HTTP Server. I checked and the .dat file for OHS is in the file system.
Anyone else seen this on 64bit Win2008?

I tried Windows Server 2008 R2, and couldn't get it to work. Even though IIS was successfully installed, the installation of several of the apps failed because the installer didn't recognize that IIS was there. I believe Alp had the same issue trying to install on Windows 7 (not server).
    R1 installed fine.

  • Install 46D EXT2 on Windows x64 and Oracle 10g

    Hello,
When i try to install a SAP 4.6C system on Windows ORACLE 10.2.0.2 and Windows AMD_64 (x64).
I've got an error in the creation of the database (see below). The Centrale instance wae created successfully.
I've changed KERNEL CD to the 46DEXT2 (INSORA102_0.SAR) version and also applied OSS Note 976457 to update various Windows DLL .
The problem is when launching R3SETUP, it goes to subdirectory ZSAPORAICL like you can see.
Why ? Is there's an error on 46D Kernel CD ?
Do you have any idea ? Already had the same problem ?
    Thanks for your help
