Error 1920 or 1921 when installing iTunes 5 for Windows

Hello,
Can anyone help me in finding the complete article on how to solve the following error message: Error 1920 or 1921 when installing iTunes 5 for Windows. It was posted September 9, 2005.
I need the complete instructions on how to correct the following error: The Windows Management Instrumentation service isn't running on your computer.
Thanks!

hi Roberto!
gosh, haven't seen one of those for a while ...
are you trying to reinstall a 5.0.0.35? the
b Bonjour
version of the 1920/1921 didn't hit 5.0.1.4 installs. can you find a copy of a 5.0.1.4 installer from somewhere?
love, b

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box (similar to those given above) are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package ..." error messages when installing iTunes for Windows 7 64bit

I was promted to upgrade to the new itunes version today (11.0.2.26), but wish I never had as the previous version worked just fine!! I have been unable to install the new version and keep getting the message about there being a problem with the Windows Installer package. I tried following the instructions on this support pages on removing all Apple programs but that didn't work either!! I have Windows 7 64 bit and am close to throwing my PC out of the window!! Quicktime will not re-install correctly either...
Any suggestions will be most gratefully received

Just in case, let's try a standalone AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi install.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe, and select "Extract to iTunesSetup". WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup".
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi to do a standalone ASU install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If not, what error message do you get? (Precise text, please.)

  • Re "Could not open key: UNKNOWN\Components\[LongStringOfLettersAndNumbers]\[LongStringOfLettersAndNumbe rs]" error messages when installing iTunes for Windows

In answering this, B Noir had it almost correct.  What he missed was that in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData \S-1-5-18\Components one must also make sure that when right clicking on components/permissions, that the active user is allowed Full Control.

Many thanks for the heads up, Mac. In recent times, I've also seen that reported during a troubleshoot of a Safari variation of the issue:
Re: Trouble installing Safari Update On Windows
Plausibly we might be looking at two different subvariations of the issue.
Doublechecking something ... did your key (in the error message) have the UNKNOWN\Components\[LongStringOfLettersAndNumbers]\[LongStringOfLettersAndNumbe rs] structure? Or was it just a UNKNOWN\Components\[LongStringOfLettersAndNumbers] (no slash and no second alphanumeric string), like rona's key?

  • Invalid Drive Error 1326 When Installing iTunes for Windows

I used to have an external usb 2.0 portable drive. It since has been uninstalled and trashed. When I tried to log into iTunes it said that some of the files are missing and to uninstall. I uninstalled from Control Panel - itunes, quicktime, ipod- then deleted the files that the support site said to. When I tried to re-install, i get the error that Drive G is invalid- error 1326. Any ideas????
By the way- I couldn't find the files in C:- Windows- System 32 to delete- they weren't there-
    Thanks!

Now I get the error the folder path "My Pictures" contains an invalid character.
okay, we've had some success with similar messages citing the "My Pictures" path applying the following MS document:

  • Error when installing itunes for windows 7 64-bit

I just bought a new laptop with windows 7 on it. I downloaded itunes and when i try to run the setup.exe it says:
"This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package"
I tried saving the exe file to my hard drive instead of running it. I tried running as administrator.
I even downloaded older versions of itunes (9.0.2)(9.0.1) and tried to install and it said the same thing.
I downloaded just to see if it was a problem with my computer not giving me access to install things and it installed just fine.
I downloaded the 64-bit version of the software.
I also disabled my anti virus and firewall temporarily.
Just to save my sanity I downloaded the new version of iTunes on my girlfriends laptop who also has a 64 bit version of windows 7 and tried to run the installer. It ran just fine.
This is really frustrating me so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just to save my sanity I downloaded the new version of iTunes on my girlfriends laptop who also has a 64 bit version of windows 7 and tried to run the installer. It ran just fine.
Do you still have the known-good installer on the girlfriend's laptop?
If so, I'd try copying it to an external hard drive or large-enough thumb drive, or burning it to a CD-R. Carry it back to your PC, copy the iTunes64Setup to your hard drive (don't run the install from the external or CD-R), and then try running an install from that known-good installer.
Does that one go through properly?
(Thinking here that the installers might have been getting damaged during the download to your PC ... if we could bypass that step, we might be able to get the beggar installed.)

  • I can't install itunes for windows get error message 5

i can't install itunes for windows get error message 5

I've been having the same issues for the past year and a half. I've spent 6-8months trying to figure it out. Went to various Itunes stores with pictures on my Iphone per each step so I could relay all information that I'd come across and the personnel were less than helpful, after conversations that would sometimes last an hour between myself, employees and managers they always came back to "simply uninstall then reinstall" when I told them for the thousanth time that I've done that multiple times and my errors are happening while trying to reinstall it they act stumped and say "well then I'm not sure, I'll give you a call if I figure it out" and disappear. I've been very disatisfied at the lack of support from Apple and if Android to piece together a reletively reliable phone I'd switch to them in a heartbeat. I'll follow this question incase someone can answer this, but I don't have much faith.
BTW, wifey has Windows 7 running on the laptop and my phone syncs just fine to that and no trouble with itunes, just mine (desktop).

  • HT6413 I keep getting a installation pkg error when installing icloud for windows 7 on my pc.

I keep getting an windows installation error when installing icloud for windows 7.  I have tried installing manually without success.

There is a very long way which is removing anything related to Apple including stuff in the registry.
The short way is as follows. It worked for me.
I have seen that in the forum EXCEPT the registry trick which is missing and does the different.
    1. Remove the Apple account from Outlook.  In my case a me.com account.
    2. Disconnect the connection to ICloud in the control panel of version 3.1.
REBOOT and open Outlook to see that all traces of the email account and of ICloud are gone.
    3. Uninstall ICloud 3.1. I used REVO Uninstaller in Safe way mode. It removed some stuff in the registry from what I see; but not sure.
    4. Delete as much stuff as possible in the C \Program Files (x86) \Common Files \ Apple
and C\Program Files\Common Files \Apple.  My computer is 64 bits.
    5. Go to the registry by typing regedit.exe or simply type regedit in the Start Box. Search for ICloud.  I deleted TWO entries related to ICloud. Otherwise, you will still see the ICloud control panel despite the fact that you removed 3.1.
    6. then I was able to install ICloud 4 immediately.  Upon restarting it asked me my email and password and added itseft to Outlook like it was before. Be aware that you address book in Outlook could be deleted, so do an export before.

  • Cannot install iTune for Windows

Hi, I just bought an iPod nano and I tried to install iTune for windows 64 bit but I always get an error message concerning a Boujour service that it seems I don't have the rights to start.
Here are some of the installation events
Windows Installer a installé le produit. Nom du produit : iTunes. Version du produit : 9.2.1.5. Langue du produit : 1033. Fabricant : Apple Inc.. Réussite de l’installation ou état d’erreur : 1602.

  • How to install itune for windows 7

I have a problem install itune for windows 7. Please help.....
After installing itume 10.2.2 64-bit, It prompt me "Apple Application Support" is require to download itune.
    Info:
    Model: Sony vaio
    Windows 7 Home Premium
    Rating: 3.2
    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU [email protected]
    Memory: 2.00GB
    System: 64-bit Operating System

It prompt me "Apple Application Support" is require to download itune.
Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, does iTunes launch properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)
