Error code 2131 on windows vista, how do i fix it

i can no longer burn cd's from itunes. I get error code 2131 when trying to do so. I operate on dell with windows vista. I ran a diagnostics and everything seemed to check out:

The 2131 error is associated with the TSST TS-L632* optical drive.

Check the compatibility tab on the site as far as I can see your Dell model is in the list assuming your sig is correct.

    I know, it sounds stupid now but you can also visit some Microsoft forum and check for solution.
    In my opinion Toshiba has nothing to do with this.
    By the way: you should disable automatic update. Before you start update check the list of all stuff offered by Microsoft. Do not update some driver.

    Thanks for the suggestion Rhonda. You're correct in saying this is impractical though. The fact is, I can't open a tab to keep it open. After doing some online research, I was able to locate a site where I could download a previous Firefox version (6.0). Problem solved! Google: "''How can I find a previous version of Firefox''. As I stated in my original question, Mozilla should not update w/o making certain it doesn't create these issues. I spent hours on this. I also turned off auto updates. I appreciate your suggestion.     I am having the same problem burning using iTunes but not Media Player. Trying to decide whether to purchase an iPhone but if I'm going to have problems using iTunes I might decide otherwis. Here is the diagnostic results that I ran:

    There has been an epidemic of 2131 burning errors associated with the TSST TS-L632* drive. And some manufactures have offered a firmware update or drive swap to fix the problem.
    I have not seen this issue come up your your model of drive although it is the same manufacturer.
    It would be worth checking your computer manufacturer's download site to see if there is a firmware update available for your drive.
    Otherwise I don't think I can help apart from contacting your computer supplier.
    Maybe someone else has some ideas.

    I noticed that you are getting the error code 80070002 on windows 8.1 updates, with your HP Photosmart 5520 printer. I am sorry to hear this but happy to help!
    Just to confirm, are you trying to update the printer software, or the Windows Operating System in general?
    Is your computer an HP computer?
    In the meantime, here is a post, I had found regarding this issue, Windows 8.1 Update Error Code: 0x8007002. Which I am assuming is an Operating System issue, not a printer issue.
    If it is the Windows updates you are trying to resolve, and the post does not help, please contact Microsoft Support.

    I have a new 2 month old(Aug 2014) hp eliteone 800 all in one computer running win 8.1 64bit. i have two  1 tb hard drives raid configuration. left computer on for an afternoon and when I came back it was off mysteriously. tried to turn on and it
    attempted to repair and was never able to repair. hp sent a new windows 8 software to install, they said os was corrupt. installed three times now i get error code: 0xc0000001 file: \windows\system32\winload.efi  missing or contains errors. hp said installation
    disc probably corrupt and sent me another. installed twice with same result, error code: 0xc0000001 file: \windows\system32\winload.efi  missing or contains errors. This began after the computer was just one month old and after i had placed 300-400
    gb of my personal data from other computers on it. I need all of these files so can't just recover/delete all of the files on the computer, although i have read that that may be my only solution? If i do recover will the files still be on the second hard drive??

    Did you try to repair or reinstall the system when you insert the new media?
    Have you tried to carry out a system recovery, which will restore your system back to factory defaults and how was the result?
    In addition, I suggest you use the new installation media to do a clean install(full format the old system).

    Just today, Toshiba posted patch for the infamous "error code 2131" when trying to burn CDs in itunes on many Toshiba laptops. Lucky for me, today was the first time I tried to do so, but I feel for all you other folks who have been very frustrated about this issue. Here is the link to it on the Toshiba support page:

    hmmmmm. i'm proceeding under the assumption that you've got a Dell 5150/E510. if i'm wrong about that, please check in with Dell to confirm your model prior to applying any updates.
    i had a look at the support site for your model (or at least, what i'm assuming your model is). your firmware appears to be up to date for the HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GWA4164B that you're getting the error on, but there does seem to be newer firmware available for the SONY DVD-ROM DDU1615. so it might be worth getting that, just in case there some kind of odd interaction happening between the drives.

    In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck the boxes other than DVD/CD tests, as per the following screenshot:
