If there are any better forums for this kind of problem then please tell me.
I hope we can fix this prooblem.
I think i haven't said my motherboard. Its P5E3 PRO. It has EPU engine and it turns off the hard drive when its idle...Premiere pro and all the sytem files are installed on my C drive which is like the main drive. On D drive i keep my music, downloads and stuff. I think it can turn of both drives then idle, but mostly it turns off D drive, I think. I have a new motherboard and i haven't got the hang of it how it shuts them down.
But i think this really isnt a problem.
Thanks in advance.

Serious hardware problems!
Go for a fresh install of OS & programs, but be prepared to first check your disks with a utility from the drive manufacturer (WD and Samsung). You may need new disks.
Great to include these details, but for readability I suggest you include these as an attachment instead of in the text. It may scare people off reading all that detail.

  • Error compiling movie. Unknown error. In both Premiere and Media Encoder

I am trying to export a a batch of six sequences, out of Premiere Pro CC to my internal hard drive using the Apple ProRes 422 Quicktime setting. All of the sequence exports are failing in the first couple of seconds. This happens if I do them individually directly out of Premiere and if I export them out as a batch to Media Encoder. All get the same "Error compiling movie. Unknown error." error message. I have tried restarting the computer, that didn't fix it. I had the same problem with some other files yesterday but I was able to export them out individually OK. But with this batch, no dice. The sequences are all fully rendered. There aren't any problematic clips in the sequences, not that I can tell. None of the sequences is very long, only about 1-2 mins each.
    Any ideas?

  • "Error compiling movie. Unknown error" while rendering a .PSD or .PNG

    Hi,
I have this problem: When I try to make a "Render Selection" or export my video, everything is ok until I reach a .PSD file I've placed almost in the end of the clip.
The same is for .PNG file, a dialog appears saying "Error compiling movie. Unknown error".
I've tried to delete the effects, but it's the same. To be more specific, I've applied a simple "Cross Dissolve": Until the transition is working, and the picture is not entirely visible, the rendering works. When the picture is "complete", the render stops and the error appears.
When I tried to delete the transitions, the error appeared in the beginning of the .PSD picture.
    Any help?
    Thanks

Are you stills in RGB format? what pixel size are they?

Thanks for the help evry one...

That error can happen for many reasons...one of the reasons that I occassionaly get it is because I try exporting a movie to an external drive that has been formated in the old FAT32 instead of the NTSF standard.  FAT32 only allows for file sizes up to 2 gigs.  And as soon as it reaches that...I would get that error.  I don't know if that is why you are getting that error...but it would be easy to check.  1) are you generating a file that is over 2 gigs?  2) is your drive that you are exporting to FAT 32 (just right click the drive in My Computer and select "properties" then just look for what it says next to "file system".

I have my Clips recored in MXF and I have this error(Export Error Error compiling movie.)

I have the same problem. I was able to get it to render out once when I switched to "Mercury Playback Engine Software Only".

  • Can't EXPORT or RENDER in PREM CC!! "Error compiling movie. Unknown Error."

I am using PMW200 MXF files alongside 5D MKiii files - I finished the edit and went to render/export and it won't let me do either! I can't get the edit out of the software and I have a deadline in an hour.
I only bought the software today (have been using the trial version and I am just coming from FCP 7 - I get this error:
    "Error compiling movie. Unknown Error."

    Hello Bill
The Adobe KB Article (http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/kb/error-compiling-movie-rendering -or.html ) does not answer the question asked, because the end of the error message is "Unknown error" which is not listed in this article.
I often encouter this error which is a RANDOM error which occurs only with pictures (4256x2832 .jpg or more when I use panoramic pictures with more than 50 MPx) but never with video (1920x1080 HD .m2ts) from my camcorder. The only way I found to do a complete render is :
    - save and close the project without editing it,
    - close Adobe Premiere Pro (CS6 or CC, same error),
    - reopen Premiere Pro and reload the project,
    - resume the render.
If I render WITHOUT Mercury Playback Engine : all is perfect, no error but the render needs very much more time.
My own conclusion : this render crash might be due to VRAM oveflooded during render with Mercury Playback Engine (this might be checked and monitored with the freeware GPU-Z).
My GPU is GTX 570 with 1280 MB VRAM and the render are only full HD (H.264 1920x1080i).
If you have a solution except remove the GPU and purchase a GTX 770 OC 4 GB VRAM, I am waiting for it.
    My actual system :
    - CPU Intel core i7 970 (6 cores, overeclocked to 3,9 GHz),
    - MoBo : Intel DX58SO2,
    - RAM : 24 GB,
    - GPU GTX570 with VRAM 1280MB (Nvidia driver allways up-to-date),
    - HDD : RAID 10 with four WD 1002FAEX (7200 tpm, 64 MB cache),
    - OS W7 64 SP1, 64 bits (allways updated)

  • "Error compiling movie.  Unknown error" - my solution

I was trying to encode a project to mpeg-2 DVD yesterday, when I repeatedly received the message "Error compiling movie.  Unknown error."  I had had this happen before and I can't remember what hoops I jumped through to fix it.  But yesterday, I found a simple solution that may work for someone else in the future should they ever search for this problem in our forum.
The problem turned out to be with some .wmv files mixed in with all the other .avi files I was using.  And the solution was to right-click on the .wmv clips in the project bin, choose "modify," then choose "interpret footage.  From there, I changed the frame rate choice from "Use frame rate from file" (which was 30.00) to "Assume this frame rate" and entered a value of 29.97.  Voila!  Everything rendered without a hitch!
    Hope this helps someone.
    J. D.

I agree, Jim, but my train of thought was that a lot of people were changing and replacing and taking out effects and clips from their sequence to see if it was the components in the sequence that was causing the "unknown error." However, I had the same "unknown error" and was able to export in Premiere anyway by just practically "telling" Premiere that it's a new project, when I'm importing an old project to do the same task. Which makes me think that maybe Premiere doesn't have a problem exporting the specific files that most people thought were the problem, maybe it was just a glitch somewhere in Premiere that made the software think there was a problem after a certain amount of time, when there really wasn't. I don't know, I'm not a coder so that's just my layman guess. I did notice that Premiere was exporting/rendering fine when I was just beginning my project, but after it got to a certain length, that's when I couldn't render or export anymore. It honestly baffles me too. It would be useful to see what the results are if other people tried this simple switch-a-roo so possible issues can be narrowed down.

  • Error Compiling Movie.  Unknown Error.  Premiere Pro export failure

Error Compiling Movie.  Unknown Error.  I get this message when trying to export my timeline to any format.  It exports for a while then I get this message.  When I try to export using media encoder it just gives me the sheep sound.  I'm starting to hate that sheep.
Does anyone know how to figure out why it throws up this error message and what the solution is to get around it?  I've wasted countless hours trying to figure out a work around.  I can't just scrap this project it's taken me weeks.
I've been able to export just fine dozens of times prior to this so I'm not sure it matters what my specs are but here goes:
custom built PC with windows 7pro SP1
    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600K CPU @ 3.4GHz 3.7 GHz
    16GB ram
    64-bit OS

After implementing many suggestions here I was able to export the 9min project successfully.  I need to take you all out to dinner.
I'm not sure which suggestions did the trick but I have a feeling it was a combination of ideas that did the trick.  Here is a breakdown of what I did to modify the project in order to get it to successfully export:
1.) Reset all stills in the motion tab to original settings & then right clicked on them in the timeline and selected "scale to frame size".
2.) Replaced all nested files with the original tracks.
3.) Changed the sequence settings (changed Editing Mode to Custom and Under Video Previews Section > Select Preview File Format as Microsoft AVI, Codec Uncompressed.
I had to re-render all previews after changing the sequence settings and I got I/O errors during that process but restarting Adobe Premiere CC somehow solved those errors.  Many times during the process of modifying the timeline (based on items 1-3 previously mentioned) I had to restart Premiere due to a loss of preview screen and inability to render things out.  In the end I was able to get it to successfully export so again I thank you all.  This was a VERY important project for me and I'm serious about taking you all out to dinner

  • "Error Compiling Movie. Unknown Error" tip

I feel like I can contribute something worthwhile after asking many questions.
Today I got the dreaded error message "Error compiling movie. Unknown error."
    Maddening.
After trying to figure out which step in my editing caused this, and being unable to reverse it, I created a new sequence with identical settings to the one that I could not render and then copied and pasted the clips from the old sequence to the new.
    It works fine.
So clearly something has gone screwy with the sequence.
So if you get the warning dialogue, see if this works. I hadn't seen this solution on the boards anywhere.

Error compiling movie. Unknown error is a big pain in the but.
Creating a new sequence does not work for everyone.
You have to try all sorts of things to narrow the problem down.
I once had that error and after messing about a whole afternoon i found a falty clip.
Anyway thanks for reporting your solution.

  • Video Preview Error: Error Compiling movie. Unknown error.

Problem in Adobe Premiere Pro CC - Rendering movie prior to Exporting.
I have cleared all Temp and Cache files to make sure I have enough space for rendering (126GB free space), but I still get a Video Preview Error message when I try to Render or Export.
What should I be looking for in my movie settings to clear the "unknown error"?

05555...did you get this reconciled??? If so, what did you do....I have encountered the same window myself, today.

  • The "Error compiling movie. Unknown Error." message...

I had a Core2 processor until recently, running Win7 64 bit, on which Premiere CC ran just fine (but slowly) and on which I produced hours of video.
To speed my life up, installed a new Asus87 motheboard with an Intel i7 chip. Did a clean install of Win7/64.
it's the SAME hard disk, memory and graphics card.  only a new motherboard and processor.
and yet.. projects that i opened and worked on before, will NOT render - they crash continually with the dreaded "Unknown" error msg and i am close to tears of frustation.    An @adobecare tech from India spent two hours on the phone with me the other day and could not solve it.
So if the ONLY thing that has changed is the motherboard and processor, what is it?   Note that it always crashes at 88% into a 'red line render' no matter, how big or small the render area is - definetely nothing to do with corrupt video.
I've followed the standard Adobe reply on what to do if you see this error, and that does not solve anything.   It is not disk space, graphics driver, bad memory or corrupt video.
if i take a project which won't render, and copy it over onto my laptop and run up Premire CC on that - it works just fine.
Make of that what you will .. !
(also worth noting, AfterEffects works just fine opening up prevous projects and has no problems whatsoever dealing with complicated projects. this is very specific to Premiere)

So, after another longer-than-an-hour phonecall with an Adobe Tech last night, we found two things:
    1. My new Win7 build had a different audio device, and Premiere didn't like it.  Reinstalling the latest audio drivers got a sequence to render which previously wouldn't.   Tip for video : Check your audio!
    2. It still didn't work in some cases, until.. we went to 'Sequence' and change the Edit Mode to be 'Custom' and then at the bottom, change the Preview File Format to Microsoft AVI (the default sequence has choseen IFrame only MPEG).    It doesn't seem to matter what coded you then selected  - they call worked.  WIth this, all my sequences then rendered!
The tech told me that this was the case for .M2T files (which i usally record and work with), but I later found that a project with footage shot on a Nikon D5100 with all .MOV files also wouldn't render, until I changed the sequence settings to Microsoft AVI... yes, for .MOV files!  So it's not .M2T specific.
Also, none of this explains why all these projects and sequences worked fine on my old Intel Core 2 machnes, but upgrading to an new motherboard with Intel i7 chip made this all break.
But there you go people.. on a Windows machine, try setting the the Preview File Format to 'Microsoft AVI' and see what it does for you...

  • Attempting to export. "Error compiling movie. Unknown error." (details included)

I've made an 8 minute movie in Elements 10. Trying to export the movie to my computer, I always get the error in the title after a few seconds. I've tried pretty much every filetype/preset and it all does the same thing.
    Movie details
All files are from GoPro camera. Half of the footage is .MP4 video, shot at 16:9 HD, 720p resolution (1280 x 720) at 30 fps. Frame rate and Pixel Aspect Ratio are default. The other half of the footage is a bunch of time lapse from thousands of JPG images imported to Premiere in sequence and played back as video at 29.97 fps (default). I selected "Conform to: D1/DV NTSC Widescreen 16:9 (1.2121)" for the Pixel Aspect Ratio on these clips. I've used the Time Stretch tool on a few of the videos and manually adjusted the Frame Rate on a couple of the time lapses to 24 fps. For transitions and effects I have used Cross Dissolve, Dip to Black, Fade out, Crop, and Stabilizer. But not heavily. All of the audio from the clips is deleted and I added a MP3 to the soundtrack.
    My system
    Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit
Hard drive: NTFS file system, 66 GB free space
    CPU: Intel Xeon X3440 @ 2.52GHz (8 CPUs)
    RAM: 4GB
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series
Here is a screen grab of my timeline for what it's worth:
    http://i.imgur.com/freD9.jpg
The whole movie plays just find in the preview window.
The time lapse footage all has the green render bar over it so you can tell how I've combined them with the regular video.
This is my first shot at editing so I'm pretty lost. I've tried to include as much info as I can, let me know if there is anything else I can provide. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out on this. I spent a ton of time working on it and I really hope I can resolve it!

Thanks for the replies. I managed to export a small portion of the movie to MPEG2 of just the time lapse so I don't think there is any issue with the still images. It looks like I need to convert the raw video footage into a different format, which should be pretty straightforward. My concern now is that I will then have to pretty much redo my entire movie. Does anyone know if there is any way at all to preserve the arrangement and cuts of my clips while converting the source video?
Edit: I made a new project where I only included a couple of clips -- both time lapse and video -- the same way I did before but only about 20 seconds of footage and it worked fine. Not really sure what that means but it makes me think there might not necessarily be a problem with the file format.

  • Pre10 crashes, hangs, and "Error compiling movie. Unknown error."

I'm using Premiere Elements 10.0 and an am having a lot of trouble.  On a simple project (just half a dozen video clips with audio and some DVD menu stuff) I din't have much trouble. However my bigger project (which is the reason I bought PRE10) isn't working well at all.  My pc specs are at the bottom of the post.
Issue 1.  about a third of the time, when starting PRE10, the opening welcome screen comes up, I hit 'Open Project', it start to load, then gets an error.  With this error I also get an entry in windows event viewer, application log of:  Faulting application adobe premiere elements.exe, version 10.0.0.0, faulting module gdiplus.dll, version 5.2.6002.22509, fault address 0x0000f47d.
If I get past that bug, the PRE sometimes just freezes up (a couple times with the audio track still playing, but otherwise frozen).
After many frustrating hours, I think I'm close to having my project complete, and now PRE won't render and create a file.  I've tried just a short snippet, or the entire thing - either way it renders for a while (just a few minutes), then gives the subject line error message - "Unknown error" isn't very helpful!   Once, after getting this error an I let it sit there a whle, it then gave the same gdipluss.dll fault that I typically see on startup.
I'd love to have all of these issues solved, but I most important thing is being about to get some sort of output!  I've tried a variety of output format, all do the same thing (mpeg2, avchd, dvd, hdtv, etc.)
    Thanks
    Charles
    Details:
    - video format is AVCHD (m2ts) coming from a Panasonic HDC-TM90.
    - mostly a single video track with audio, sometimes a second video track layered on top
    - narration track in .wav format
    - soundtrack in .wav format
    - roughly 30 minutes long
    - video files are coming off of the external usb 500GB drive
    - I've played with setting the rendering location to the mostly empty E: drive or the mostly full C: drive - no difference
    - I see from other posts about crashes that a key question is what is the project format set to.  How do I tell??  I chose that a month back (been working on this off and on for a while...) and I don't remember, and don't see how to check the current settings.

For the Project Settings, choose Edit>Project Settings, and you can see them all, with the General Tab (most important), Capture (should not affect your Project), Video Rendering (again, should not have much info for you now), and Default Timeline (defines how the Timeline is set up initially, and not of any real use here).
Now, and with the Source Files and Project on your E:\, or your external HDD, how much free-space is on your C:\. That can be very important, especially as with only 2GB RAM, you WILL be using your Windows Page File (Virtual Memory) often, and heavily.
Now, though this is covered in one of the links in the PrE Crashing & Hanging article (Memory & Resources), how is your Page File managed, and is it located on your C:\?
Also, is your Project file (the PREL) located with the Source Files, on either E:\, or your external HDD? I know that you have tried several locations. Also, where are your Scratch Disks (Edit>Preferences) set to? Those can be very large, and if one has them pointed to a nearly full HDD, can crash things.
Last, at least for now, is your F:\ your external HDD? If so, it is formatted FAT-32, and that limits file sizes to ~ 4GB. This ARTICLE will tell you how to Convert a FAT-32 HDD to NTSF.
    Good luck,

What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
What are the properties of your source media and what project preset are you setting to match the properties of your source media?
There is no 1080p50 5.1 project preset in any version of Premiere Elements.

  • Changed Video Preview "Error Compiling Movie" "Unknown Error"

    Hi All,
    I am running

    2x2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    16gb 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB
    AE CS6 11.0.2.11
    PP CS6 6.0.2
So I have 2 dynamic link AE comps in my premiere sequence just with some blur transitions & simple animated graphics.
I was having trouble with the blur quality from AE to Premiere so adjusted my Video preview settings from,
Created a new sequence and had these settings, copied and pasted the content from the first comp,
Unrendered my dynamic link blur works (yay) but when I try to preview render my sequence I get the wonderful error "Error compiling movie. Unknown Error"
    Any suggestions?
I have tried opening and closing the programs, replacing the dynamic links in the seuquence...
    Thanks in advance!
