Error Editing page

The concept of InContext editing is phenomenal - If only I
could get it to work. I followed all the tutorials making sure to
note the DIV tags etc. Created my account - Set up FTP etc upon
signing on and when I press CTRL-E the page opens perfectly - THis
is where the problem starts, after signing in, I immediately get
the "Page Not Found" page from the parent site?
The InContext editing toolbar is there - The Current page
lists:
http://www.myiste.ca/subsite/sitemap.htm.
The address bar lists
http://www.mysite.ca/subsite/includes/ice/ide.html#page=sitemap.htm.
The Includes directory is on the root of
http://mysite.ca/subsite which
is the FTP root that was set up.
It should work but the page not found issue assumes that the
needed files are not there?
Can you offer any help?

Hello Steve,
Sorry to hear you are having problems. It sounds like the
issue you're experiencing is related to the HTTP HEAD request
method.
Take a look at the following Tech Note which discusses the
issue:
http://www.adobe.com/go/kb406749
Error: "The operation could not be performed because a
problem occurred while attempting to connect to the server" when
trying to edit a page using Adobe InContext Editing
Issue
After successful login in InContext Editing or when
navigating to a page in your website while the InContext Editing
toolbar is displayed, you receive the error "404 File or Directory
Not Found", or, depending on the server configuration, a custom
error page is displayed instead.
If you try to edit the page you will receive the following
error message: "The operation could not be performed because a
problem occurred while attempting to connect to the server. Please
check your Internet connection and try again. For more details,
please visit the InContext Editing Support Center".
Reason
InContext Editing requires the HEAD HTTP request method to be
enabled and functioning properly for a registered web site.
InContext Editing will not function properly if the HEAD HTTP
request method is disabled or if it does not function properly.
InContext Editing is using HEAD requests to check the
existence of the draft and published versions of the current page.
If those calls do not work as expected (the HEAD should return
status code 200/304 if the checked page exists, 404 otherwise) then
you will experience this behavior. In most cases the problem
appears on web servers running IIS 6 or 7 with PHP installed as
CGI, but this problem may occur with other server configurations as
well.
Solution
Contact your web hosting provider for assistance. This may
require changes in web server configuration.

  • Edit Page options in ribbon disabled after applying modified Seattle Master Page

    Hi,
    I'm working on a modified version of the Seattle.master page, and I have an odd permissions issue that is seen when my user (a farm admin) tries to edit a page on the site. On some pages, clicking Edit Page doesn't do anything at all. On others, I've been
    able to go into edit mode but not do anything with the Edit options afterward. In this scenario, most or all of the useful edit options are disabled, and I cannot use Save, Checkout, Discard the Checkout, Change the Page Layout, etc...
    Checking the JavaScript console in IE reveals this JS error that I don't see in the OOTB Seattle:
    SCRIPT5007: Unable to set value of the property 'href': object is null or undefined
    [our.site.com], line 1128 character 590
    Here's the function being referenced:
    function _cUpdconetidProjectPropertyTitleGraphic(data, ctrl){ ctrl.href = slNavUrl; }
    Other possibly helpful information:
    Here is a snippet from the modified Seattle Master Page of where the ribbon code sits:
    <div id="s4-workspace" class="ms-core-overlay">
    <div id="s4-bodyContainer">
    <SharePoint:SPSecurityTrimmedControl runat="server" AuthenticationRestrictions="AnonymousUsersOnly">
    <wssucw:Welcome runat="server" EnableViewState="false" />
    </SharePoint:SPSecurityTrimmedControl>
    <div id="ms-designer-ribbon">
    <PublishingRibbon:PublishingRibbon runat="server"/>
    </div>
    As you can see, I have moved the Ribbon (div#ms-designer-ribbon) from its fixed position outside of the div#s4-workspace to inside of the div#s4-bodyContainer so that it scrolls with the page. Placing the ribbon inside div#s4-bodyContainer shouldn't be an issue,
    as I've made a Design Manager Master Page in the past and placed the ribbon there as well without issue.
    Does anyone know how I can get this modified Seattle master page to allow editing?

    Hi,
    Is there any custom JavaScript in it, sometimes error may occur due to some typo.
    Suppose that we can do the customization like this: With a copied master page, we can apply a part of the change first, then check it in the browser to make sure it can work without affecting the OOTB features. Then apply other parts one by one with immediate
    examinations...
    By doing this, it would be easier to find out which step in your whole customization would cause the issue.

  • Error on page in Idm 7.1.0

    I installed IdM 7.1.0 with Tomcat 5.5.23, jdk 1.6 and MySql 5.0.45.
    I login to application and edit user assignments (click to Accounts, eg. Administrator and Assignments).
    There is an error on this page: there is a red cross instead of control to edit Roles, Individual Resource Assignment, Individual Resource Group Assignment or Resource Exclusions. When I click to the "Save" button, Internet Explorer reports "Error on page".
    Do you have any idea how to get rid of this error?

    Those controls are all Java applets, it sounds like you do not have Java applets enabled in your browser.
    If you can't use Java applets you can also edit the form (User Library in this case) and add a property to all of the fields whose display class is MultiSelect:
    <Property name='noApplet' value='true'/>
    This will cause the JavaScript version of the multiselect to render instead.

  • 11i Login Page is showing 'Error on Page' while using IE 7

    Hi DBAs,
    I am using Oracle 11.5.10.2 with DB 10.2.0.4 (Single Instance). The EBS is on RUP6 and using JDK 1.6.0_12.
    I was using Firefox and not getting any issue. I used first time IE-7 (7.0.5x) to access the application. I noticed that Pressing the 'Login' button on Login Page , it was saying in the left bottom of the IE says 'Error on page' and was not navigate to any page or did not perform any action.
    I verified all the services and everything was OK. While using Firefox , I was able to navigate the application w/o any issue.
    Using IE 7 , I am able to access
    http://host.domain:8000/OA_HTML/fndvald.jsp?username=sysadmin&;password=sysadmin
    Most of the stuff seems to be working fine while logging in using above URL but the 'GO' buttons are throwing same error in IE 'Error on page'. Rest of the Bottons like 'Edit Navigator' , 'Edit Favorites' are working fine but when on any Page I press the 'Go' button then IE showing Error. It seems to me that when a button need to navigate to next page then IE saying 'Error on page' but when a button have to lunch a new page it is working fine.
    All the responsibilities and links are working fine. Application Navigation using Firefox is working absolutely fine.
    Seeking your advise and suggestions to resolve the issue.
    Thanks
    -Samar-

    Hi Samar,
    You can clear the cache as follows (login as applmgr user, and source the application env file):
    $ cd $COMMON_TOP/_pages
    $ rm -R *
    ML Note: 285218.1 is not helpful as I am on later version of EBS (11.5.10.2 with RUP6 and Developer6i Patchset 19). At Client side I am using Windows XP SP3 with IE 7.0.5.x with JInit 1.3.21 and JRE 1.6.0.12.Did you review the steps under "Recommended MSIE Browser Settings" section?
    Can you reproduce the issue with JInitiator? If yes, any errors in the JInitiator console window? Enable debug (you may also enable trace for Sun JRE) and see if any errors are reported there.

  • Re: BUG? APEX 4.0: ORA-20503 error editing report with 400+ columns

    Hello Everyone.
    I've run into something quite strange and am hoping you can help me.
    I am using Apex 4.0.1 and Oracle version 10.2.0.5. I've created a "classical" report in which the underlying SQL is a very simple:
    select * from pvtabThe Oracle table pvtab consists of 419 columns, all of which are varchar2(88) and number type. That's it.
    When I run the report, al of the columns show up as expected.
    However, when I go into the "Report Attributes" tab and click on one of the fields (any of them, it doesn't matter which one), I immediately get the following error:
    ORA-20503: Current version of data in database has changed since user initiated update process. current checksum = "598CAA7B68746A66F4B99E1512C36DED" application checksum = "0"If if replace the "*" with a few actual column names, then I am able to access any of these columns without problem.
    If I put back the "*", I then encounter this error again.
    I have never seen this error with other SQL SELECT statements in which I use the "*" qualifier to retrieve all columns from the table.
    And so, I am wondering if the error is caused because of the large number of columns (419) in my table.
    I've seen this same error mentioned in connection with forms but never with a report.
    So, is there some limit to the number of columns one can have in a "classic" or interactive report?
    Any idea why I would be getting this error?
    Here is the DDL for my table pvtab:

    So, is there some limit to the number of columns one can have in a "classic" or interactive report?Yes. See Oracle® Application Express Application Builder User's Guide Release 4.0, Appendix B: Oracle Application Express Limits.
    Any idea why I would be getting this error?No, but I've replicated it in APEX 4.0.2.00.07 on 11.2.0.1.0 EE using a table of 420 <tt>varchar2(88)</tt> columns:
    >
    ORA-20503: Current version of data in database has changed since user initiated update process. current checksum = "50C9BDC0AA1AEF0EB272E9158B2117B4" application checksum = "0"
    >
    Happens whether using <tt>select *</tt> or including all column names in the query. (I know you don't want to type all the column names, but I'd never use <tt>select *</tt> in a production application: always use a proper column list. You can get one without typing by drag-and-drop of a table in most IDEs, or a query from <tt>user_tab_columns</tt>.)
    I hit the problem at 274 columns. Such an arbitrary number leads me to think that the problem is not one of the number of columns per se, but is due to some other limit (possibly a 32K VARCHAR2/RAW buffer somewhere).
    Workaround:
    Updates to the report column attributes are actually being saved, and you can navigate them using the Page Definition tree view as described in Appendix B.
    Getting More Help:
    This is probably a bug. If you have a support agreement with Oracle raise an SR with Oracle Support.
    Also:
    <li>Search the forum using the "ORA-20503" code and other possible terms to see if there's anything relevant. I had a quick look but the only thread in this context recommended an upgrade on an Oracle 9 DB version that's not compatible with APEX 4.0.
    <li>To get the attention of the Oracle APEX team or anyone else who may know more about this problem than we do, edit your original post and change the Subject to be more specific about the actual nature of the problem: <em>BUG? APEX 4.0: ORA-20503 error editing report with 400+ columns</em>, and include your database version/edition and the definition of the <tt>PVTAB</tt> table.
    Finally:
    Somebody's bound to ask, so we might as well get started:
    <li>Why so many columns?
    <li>What requirement is this trying to fulfil?

  • Cannot edit any pages - No Edit Page Button

    I have a blog through blogger, with my own domain, standupsteals.com. I have added a connection to it in CS5, but I have been unable to edit retrieved posts. The "Edit Pages" button doesn't even appear. I haven't tried to uninstall/reinstall yet. I did delete the connection, and recreate it, but still same problem. I cannot administer websites; it's grayed out, along with a lot of other options. I am the only user, so I shouldn't be locked out...Any ideas?
    I have tried to follow the simple directions...Go to my homepage; choose an entry. Once I choose an entry, Edit Pages button should appear, right? It's not happening for me...I get a quick message that says I am on a site I am not connected to. How can that be?
    When I try to edit a page from within IE, I get an error "Cannot find the file on the server" Message was edited by: ladeebishop

    Hello Alpesh,
    Thank you for replying!
    I had already tried to export the roles and replaced the Z: with Z_ before creating this message, but the upload attempts failed due to the explanation above.  But this time, I followed your (good) advice to delete the original Z: roles first, before uploading the corrected file.
    Sadly, even after I deleted the original Z: roles prior to uploading the corrected file, I am still having no luck ... when I uploaded the file, again it (falsely) reports that the import was successful:
        Import Status: 133 successfully imported out of 133 records found
    After seeing that message, I quickly checked the roles, and none of the roles had uploaded.  So now I have ZERO roles.
    Any further ideas?  I am thinking it may be something very small that is being overlooked ... perhaps certain buttons must be selected/not selected on the import screen?  Or could it be an issue with the file itself?
    When I do the import, I only select the button for "From File ..." and retrieve the file from my desktop via the Browse button.  I do not select any other button, nor do I make a selection from the System or Role Source boxes.  I have just selected that one button only ... I've tried it with and without checking the "Overwrite Existing Roles" box, but neither one works.
    The part that bugs me the most is that I receive what I perceive to be an inaccurate/bogus "successful" status each time I attempt the upload of the file.  At least if I had an error message, I might have something to work with to troubleshoot this.

  • Cannot edit page

    I have a problem editing one page on my site. When I was
    publishing it the server connection was lost. Now no one can edit
    the page. There is no *.lck file nor do any users have a draft of
    the page. Contribute is not providing any error message; clicking
    the edit button does nothing.
    Has anyone else encountered this problem? I am using
    Contribute CS3 and CPS with 60 users.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. I found nothing to
    address this problem within HELP.
    Fred

    I am having a similar issue with one of my publishers.  She was editing a page and went to publish it but the publish button was greyed out (even though she is a publisher).  So she sent the draft to herself for review and was able to publish it that way.  After that neither of us could edit the page because it said that someone had a draft of it and was reviewing it.  So I went onto our server and deleted the .lck file.  Now I can go in and edit it (I am an administrator).  However, when she clicks the "Edit Page" button nothing happens.  Contribute just sits there.  This is the only page my publisher is having an issue with.

  • WPC Problem after creation of new Site - no "Edit Page" Link available

    Hello,
    I have a problem with WebPageComposer (WPC) and Edit Page link.
    We are currently on EP 7.01 SP6.
    (I have the wpc_editor_role for my user)
    I am doing the following:
    1) I create a new site, (derived permissions for all folders is wpc_editor_role - Full Control),
    2) I Create some article within its Site Content folder
    3) I create a new web page in its Web Pages folder
    4) assign the article to the web page and publish it
    5) add web page within Site Navigation as a new node
    6) I used Publish Site Navigation
    After clicking on the web page within Web Pages folder it does a preview.
    Our older WPC content does display the Edit Page link - the new one does not.
    What step am I missing here?
    Maybe it is an upgrade issue?
    Best Regards, Thomas
    P.S.: copying one of our older WPC pages into my new site + renaming it via KM + removing old content + assigning new one does display the correct link after publishing it! Any indeas?

    Dear Thomas,
    It sounds like your are doing all the right actions, I don't think that your missing any step in the process, but please consider the following.
    Are you using a custom WPC layout template? The reason I ask is that I have developed a number of WPC custom templates and in some circumstances I have needed to remove/hide the "pageheader" section of the template. This action removed the links from displaying at the top of the page. Try creating and publishing a web page using a SAP standard WPC layout and see if the edit link appears once the page is published.
    The editing and preview page views do not display the "edit" link, they only display the other page header links that can be assigned to a page. The edit link is only visible when viewing the page via the portal, not in edit mode. Another question, was the deployment of KMCWPC successful and without error? I have experienced issues where the deployment did not fully complete, causing some subtle issues regarding publishing of WPC content and redeploying KMCWPC fixed the issue. I hope this helps.
    Best Regards,
    Chris

    Here's my hand:
    Pages in question for your review:
    http://www.benoitsystems.com/ww/bd/gb/gb_mstr.cfm  click on the pencil (the toilet will delete the record.
    http://www.benoitsystems.com/ww/bd/gb/gb_entry_mstr_det_e.cfm?call_number=21  go to bottom of webpage and click “Update Your Entry”

    In your review of the above (should you choose) before clicking on the pencil, look at the status on the master listing record you will be editing, and feel free to edit.  Most statuses will be “Hold”

  • Edit page not working in SharePoint 2013

    Hi All,
    I was trying to insert an Embed Code on a SharePoint 2013 Main Page and after that all my web parts disappear and when I try to edit the page nothing happens, I click on Edit Button or try through the little gear and Edit page and nothing happens, but if
    I try a different site it works.. Any thoughts? or How can I remove the wrong code?
    Thank you,

    I have noticed this in new SP2013 EE deployments.
    I believe that this is a bug in the application that Microsoft needs to address.
    However, for now, there are some workarounds.
    1. I would attempt to remove the embedded code.  It is much easier than using Designer as suggested in other posts though.  You pasted the code into the web part, so you really have two options...
    1) edit the web part by going to "Page" and "Check Out", now the Edit will work again.  Odd, like I said, I see this as a bug.
    2) You can go to "Page", select "Edit Properties" and then scroll ALL the way down to the bottom, and select "Open Web Part Page in maintenance view".  Then select and delete the malicious web part.
    Remember "Check Out" is the key.  If the page is working properly, clicking "Edit" will automatically "Check Out" the page.  I believe this is an error in the JavaScript on the page (i.e. Microsoft bug that needs fixing).

  • HI .. PROBLEM IN SUBMITTING THE EDITED DATA FROM THE EDIT PAGE

    HI,
    I am having a Main form consiting of a af:table which is binded .. so when i select the row and click on "edit" button binded with the table.. i am able to get the respective data form in the Edit page.
    Now when i modify any data in the binded textbox ..... and when i submit the form the "row currency change error " is displayed...
    Plz help me how to solve this problem.....

    Hi,
    so you have a table, select a row and navigate to an edit form. Inhere you change the data displayed and press submit to navigate back to the table. On otn.oracle.com/products/jdev this scenario is available in the OBE (Oracle By Example) if you need a sample.
    What you should try is to open the pageDef file in the StructureWindow, select the iterator, e.g. DepartmentsIterator, that populates the table and open teh Property Inspector. Under "Refresh Condition" set ${!adfFacesContext.postback} to avoid the table being refreshed on JSF postback

  • Editing pages created using dreamweaver with microsoft's visual studio express

    Here's a quick, somewhat vague, question for anyone who might have an answer. Is there a trick to editing pages created using dreamweaver with Microsoft Visual Studio Express? The reason I ask is I recently finished a web site for my first client who now wants to make edits herself using the program she uses, that being Microsoft. I thought it would be as easy as pulling the html files from the server (or the usb flash drive i gave her), making changes and then putting them back to the server, but apparently she is having some problems. I'm meeting with her soon. I have no experience with any other programs, other than Adobe, so I don't know how much good I'll be in helping her. Maybe it's an easy question, maybe not. Any info appreciated. Thanks!

    David wrote -
    Dreamweaver template commands are all wrapped in HTML comments, so they
    shouldn't cause any problems. They should simply be treated as comments.
    However, the concept of editable and locked regions will be ignored.
    Hi David, I meant the templates with the dwt extension, not the html files that are created from them. The full version of VS will recognize the dwt extension as 'Dynamic Web Template' but as this is a microsoft extension it does not recognize the code for editing and shows a large number of errors, (before anyone comments the dwt file extension is used by a number of other programs, all referring to a different file type).

  • Edit Page Functionality not working in SP2013

    We are taking over a SharePoint 2013 development project which we believe was originally done with SharePoint 2010 and mabe customized with SharePoint Designer 2010 and now that we are to modify and or correct some of the other consultants pages in SP2013
    now we can not directly edit the page within the SharePoint environment. The Edit Page button does nothing but blink when clicked on.

    Check your ULS logs. It might be throwing some error in your ULS logs related to this behavior.
