I'm running 10.6.8 OSX & wondering why I get an error message when backing up with time machine onto an external hard drive. Please help! Error message states time machine could not back up & to try again later.

The mail system can be backed up with mailbfr and the resulting backup subsequently with any decent backup software. mailbfr will make sure the mail system is stopped while backing up.
A server is always tricky to backup, because it is always in a "fluctuating" state. Ideally all services should be stopped before a backup. Some will not cause major issues, others like mail will. Unless you have some sort of raid setup, where you can take a disk offline for backup purposes, you will always have to be very careful.
I would look for service specific scripts on an as needed basis. There are some around for SQL for example.

Error 10013 when using GPCTR_Control with ND_RESET

I am using two 6602 cards and a MIO E6035 in an PXI system. I program the counter and the MIO for bufferd operation and start the measurement. This works good.
Then I stop the actual measurement with DAQ_Clear for the MIO and GPCTR_Control with ND_RESET for each used counter on the 6602.
After a while I want so start a new measurement and do the same init again. The second time I often (not allways !!) get an error code 10013 (-10013 badErrorCodeError: The driver returned an unrecognized or unlisted error code) when I call ND_RESET.
Whe I get it once, I get it allways. WShen I stop my program and restart it, then the programming of the counters works aggain.
What can I do? Is there a command, so that I can init the
counter card completly?
I am using NI Daq 6.9.1.

Error message in Accounting integration with PS

Hi Gurus,
I have created projects in cProjects but I am getting the error message An error occurred when connecting to the accounting system . The error message no. is "DPR_FIN_GECCO001", which states that the RFC connection is not maintained or wrongly maintained. Actually, our PS and PLM both are in the same server and we had maintained the RFC as None in ABAP connections (is this correct ?). What else I have to maintain so that I can transfer the project from cProjects to PS ?

Can anyone help me by confirming that the RFC connection - "none" i had maintained is for the Connection type 3. Is it OK ? When I tried creating it as NONE, system gave a message that it is already maintained (for conn. type I ).

I have the iPhone 4 and I keep getting a "this accessory doesn't support charging" error message when I sync with my MBP.

It is also doing it with my car charger. Both of these have always worked fine in the past. Any ideas?

This means your iPhone has a major problem, and if the error message says connect to iTunes, you must do as provided and connect to iTunes. There isn't anything to figure out - you must connect your iPhone to iTunes as provided.

"Unspecified Error" or "Runtime Error" 7 when launching application with AcroPDF on Secured Vista PC.

We have a client application written in Visual Basic 6 that uses the AcroPDF ActiveX DLL to view PDF files in our app. The app works fine the clients secured Windows XP SP 3 PC, and on my Windows Vista Business 32 bit Virtual Machine. However, the application will not launch on the client's highly secured Vista Enterprise 32 bit PC's. The form with the Acrobat Browser control does not even initialize before a "Runtime Error 7: Out of Memory" message is presented. I created a VB 6 test app that has just the form and the Acrobat Browser control on it, and this test application will not initialize either. It gets an "System Error &H80004005 (-2147467259). Unspecified Error" message on attempting to launch. I get the same error message if I attempt to add the Acrobat Browser control to a form in an MS Excel Macro in Excel 2003 on the same PC. Test VB6 applications using the other controls and references in the application launch fine.
The Acrobat installed on these PC's is Acrobat Professional 9.0.0 and/or 9.1.0. In two cases, we have been able to have the application load after uninstalling /reinstalling Acrobat 9.x on the PC, but ONLY for the profile that did the installation. And in one case, after removing that user profile and then logging back on, that user started getting the same errors above.
What policy or registry setting is needed to get this control to initialize on a secured Vista PC for all users?

I have done the following on my Vista Business VM and I still have not been able to duplicate the error that I see at the client site.
1. Enabled UAC.
2. Implemented Software Restriction Policies.
3. Set the Default Security Level to Basic User (except for Local Administrators).
4. Lowered the Integrity Level on my AcroTest1.EXE and on my actual executable to "Low".
The sample application and the user application loaded the form and initialized the AcroPDF control when logged in as a normal user account (the account is only a member of the "Users" group on the local Vista PC).
Since this application is an actual Windows application (not an Internet Browser plug in), the default integrity level should be "Medium".

Diagnosis
An error occurred in the desktop application while opening a document.
Procedure
Check first whether you can insert a document from this desktop application as an embedded object in another application. The necessary menu item is usually 'Insert --> Object'. The application then lists all of the OLE document types. Choose the type corresponding to the desktop applciation. If the insertion fails, the error is in the desktop application itself.
This error has various causes. Often, it is caused by activating certain add-ins. Sometimes, the desktop application is wrongly installed. The error should not recur once you have disabled any add-ins or reinstalled the desktop application.
Procedure for System Administration
If you cannot solve the problem as described above, enter a problem message. There are notes relating to how to generate the log file using the program SAPROFFICEINTEGRATIONTRACE.

Error '80070002' when running report with Crystal 9

Hi,
A client of mine is using Crystal 9 designer and RAS. We are trying to get them to upgrade but in the mean time when ever we create a new report we get the following error:
Error '80070002'
(there is also a random file path but can't show this for privacy reasons)
From what I can make out the current set up appears to be ok: they have the correct SDK files in the right place on the production application server.
These files point to the RAS which sits on the QA application server.
When we run the report through Crystal designer the reports runs fine, however when we run it through our HR application we get the above error.
Strange thing is though all of the pre-existing reports work fine...which is why I think the set up must be correct otherwise none of the reports would run, this is only happening with new reports we are trying to create.
It's like the page tries to connect to the RAS but gets kicked out.
I've tried seraching this and other forums but have not seen anybody else with this error.
Any one got any ideas?

First thing to try is to turn logging on for RAS, stop the RAS server and add "-trace -crpetrace 7" ( I think these worked for RAS 9 ) and then look in the logs to see what the actual error is reported by CE 9. The error you posted is a COM error.
Next we need to know if this is a WEB app or Windows App and what Dev language you wrote it in?
What happens if you create a New report using the same database tables and info?

ITunes gives unknown error (-50) when syncing songs with iPhone

I recently ripped a few mp3 files to my library and started up iTunes to sync them with my iPhone. If I recall correctly, this prompted me to upgrade to 9.2 of iTunes.
Everything synced perfectly - apps, photos, excpet for the new songs I had ripped - I got the unknown error (-50) syncing the new songs. This puzzled me as I followed the exact same process as I had when ripping all the other songs in the library.
I then removed an existing song from my iPhone, and tried the sync again, and now THAT song also failed to sync. Thus - it sure does not look like a problem with my mp3 files, but some sort of problem with iTunes.
I found this article which was very similar, but ended up being only specific songs:

I followed all the steps there, but have yet to achieve success. I have also followed every iTunes upgrade since I started - I am currently at 9.2.1.5.
I also have an iPod Touch, and it experiences the same symptoms, thus once again pointing to iTunes not the device. I even went through the process of restoring my Touch to factory settings, and that did not help. I even upgraded my Touch to 4.0, still no change. With this restore to factory settings, all the music on my Touch was wiped out, and unfortunately now NONE of my songs sync - which includes the almost 300 other songs that were synced perfectly fine before I did the restore.
After the restore - photos, videos, etc. all synced fine - it is just music that has this problem. I do not suspect my USB connection as a result (some of my videos are very large) I have over 10GB free on my 1 GB Touch, and much more than that on my 32 GB iPhone.
I am really stuck here - everything else is working but I can not get any new songs, and I am afraid of doing too much more in case I lose the songs I already have.

Error message when burning HD with iDVD

When i try to burn a HD movie directly from iMovieHD( v. 5,02) with iDVD( v. 5.0.1), i get an error message code OX8002006D, followed by another:
"Burning Finished.---errors were found during burning process."
and "there was a problem during multiplexing/burning"
and the disk is ejected blank.
With a Standard Definition movie, using the same DVD-R or DVD+R disks(4X) and same procedure, i have no problem. The movie was only about 2 minutes long with about 19 GB available.
Anybody out there who knows what's wrong?

There are a bunch of folders within your home folder, you may want to decide what exactly you want to back up or not.
Besides your personal folders (Desktop, Documents, Movies, Music, Pictures), you may want to decide whether you need to back up the library folder. The library folder generally contains preferences for most of your applications, and also caches and applications support files. These can become really big in some cases (Mine is more than 8GB, will not fit on a dual layer DVD). And the Library>Caches folder contains temporary files that will change from time to time, this might be the cause of your previous error since the shortcut is no longer valid.
Once you chose your files and make sure they will fit on your blank CD/DVD, you can just do what you did before, drag the folders to a Burn folder, make sure you are not running any other apps, so they won't be modifying the files.
There are programs you can use to backup to CD/DVD, Disc burner like Toast will span across several discs if the data does not fit on one. For a more automated solution, Carbon Copy Cloner (http://www.bombich.com/software/ccc.html) can backup to disc images which you can then burn to discs. I personally don't know a lot backup programs that provide good support for CD/DVDs, so I'll leave this to other folks.
If you are going to backup regularly, I would recommend spending some money on an external drive. You can find quite a few free software for automated backup and saves money and time on burning CD/DVDs. Plus you have the advantage of being able to boot from the external drive should anything bad happened to your internal one.
