Error in Default return XMLMap

Question

Hi,
I am trying to finish my first web service with Weblogic Workshop 7.
The problem is that workshop doesn't appear to like my return class, which is
a custom business class of ours.
The relevant section of the .jws looks like this (real names removed):
public Response query(String vid, String[] vrns)
Response theResponse = (EJB call);
return theResponse;
When I open the "Edit maps and interfaces" dialog and select default for the return
XML, the following error occurs:
Error: XMLMap: Class mypackage.Response does not contain a property with public
setter/getter or a field called "class mypackage.Response".
Prescription: Make sure that the spellin of the property referenced in the XML
map matches the spelling of the property in your java object. Also make sure that
the property is public.
What does that mean?
Do I need to make changes to our business objects that are being returned?
All of the samples provided by BEA appear to return either standard java types
or locally defined data types (ie. inner classes).
Is it supposed to be possible to return and MAP a custom external class?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Grant,
Workshop 8.1 has been GA for sometime, and can be downloaded at
http://commerce.beasys.com/showproduct.jsp?family=WLP&major=8.1&minor=0.
Is there a reason why you would have chosen WLW 7 ?
Also XML Maps have been deprecated in Workshop 8.1 and we recommend customer
to use XQuery Maps instead. More information can be obtained at
