Error installing software - administrator privileges

I'm trying to install software via Adobe Application Manager using my creative cloud subscritpion but i'm always getting errors.
The first time i installed things were fine, i was downloading photoshop but i had to reboot my mac and that's when i started having the error "administrator privileges are required to install. please retry or cancel to install later." for all the prpduct lines of software, even after inserting my mac administrator login.
after chceking different options nothing seems to solve the problem http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/general-installation-troubleshooting-cs5-cs5.html
- logging in with a different user (with administrator privileges)
- enabling a root user
- installing adobe support advisor (does not detect any errors). i have manually checked the logs but there are no logs registered at all for this errors.
- i have even downloaded again the adobe app manager software again but i can't seem to locate where the previous file  is (the utilities folder with the folder for this app does not contain the program itself or the unisntaller, just a bunch of different stuff), so i think that the new file does not really install a new version of the adobe manager
i'm really desperate here. have so much work to do today and no solutions. Any ideas?
MAC OSXLion v10.8.2

seems that i solved the problem:
i found a post with a similar problem and they referred to an updated application manager file. the link was only for windows but i searched and installed this one http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/thankyou.jsp?ftpID=4774&fileID=4438 and i can donwnload programs again
it seems that it's different from the file that i downloaded yesterday from adobe creative cloud user page https://creative.adobe.com that is older

  • Errors Installing Software

Hi, I have browesed the forums many a time and found answers to my questions but this one I have yet to find. Recently I cannot upgrade any apple related software. I am running the last gen G4 Powerbook(10.4.8). Today I tried to install the new iTunes 7.1 i belive. It will download fine but will not install. I tried from the site and the apple updater. Turns out that there were three updates(iTunes, QuickTime, and ProAppRuntime) from apple and non could install. All gave me a error installing software. I had also tried installing MatLab for use in one of my courses earlier this month and got the same result. I have repaired my permissions, somthing i do quite regulalry through use of a automater script. Now since these arnt must have upgrades im not overly worried about them, im more worried about not being able to upgrade somthing Key later down the road.
    Thanks

Do you have a retail Leopard disc that you can use to install with?
You can also try installing 10.4 using Target Disk Mode.
    Please post back with results,

  • Error install software on Windows Sever 2012

    Hello!
I'm using a VPS Cloud. used OS Windows Sever 2012.
    I can not install any
software on it. Simple as firefox, error: Cloud not find...runtime or adobe flash player...ect.
    Please help me install.
    Thank you
    Regards

So, if I understand correctly, you have cloud hosted servers (Server 2012) and you're trying to manage via ConfigMgr 2012 (install software etc).
    1. Are these servers part of your domain?
    2. What connectivity is there to the servers?
    3. Have you created a boundary for the servers and added to a boundary group?
    4. Have you successfully installed a ConfigMgr client and it is reporting correctly?

  • Why firefox can be installed without administrative privilege

A standard user (i.e without administrator or power user right),able to run the installation package able in his/her workstation.By default, any executable package should not be run without administrator privilege.
    Please assist, thanks!

    Hi jscher2000,
Yes. I do not want non-administrator domain users to install Firefox. Most of the domain users are using Windows XP and 7 Professional.
Once the Firebox executable file is clicked, Windows does prompt Windows Security message box for administrator username and password.
However, the installation process is proceed, even though no login information is inserted and domain user clicked "NO" .By default, any of the application installation process will be stopped once "NO" option is clicked.
    Please advise.
    Thanks
    Thanks.

  • [b] There were errors installing software [-b]  BomFatalError

I recently ran Software Updater... from OS 10.4.8 to 10.4.9
    Background:
My powerbook G4 started to crash regularly after update to iTunes 7.1.1 and OS 10.4.9 (2 days ago). Lower memory slot (SODIMM0/J25LOWER) no longer recognizes any memory modules in lower slot, since update. (Perhaps logic board is fried?) I ran Diskwarrior; Disk Utility and TechTool Pro 4. Only minor repairs to Disk Permissions. Now Safari, Mail, VirusBarrier, and other applications refuse to open. Clicking F12 for Dashboard widgets is scarey... Widgets disappeared before my eyes.
I since have tried to do a "Archive and Install" of OS 10.4 from the original Tiger Disk. After running through 85% or more of progress, I get message:
    Please try again
    Install Log states:
Date: Time localhost:BomFatalError - cpio read error: bad file format
Date: Time localhost:Install failed: Some files for Essentials may not have been written correctly.
On subsequent attempts to reinstall (Archive and Install), the Preserve User Settings box is dimmed. And Installer indicates there were (again) errors installing.
I can reboot from either and emergency external disk (edisk using minimum OS X software 10.4.5), or by using the Tiger Installation disk.
Now when booting from external disk; there are dozens of odd named folders on my internal hard drive "var"; "etc", "OSInstall.mpkg.93E2bJXo", and more. I'm afraid to do a clean install at this point... (I'm afraid I'll losse my preferences, and misc application files) -- it took me 2 days to reinstall OS X, and all my software, updates and settings a month ago when the internal drive was replaced due to a savage virus called 'OSX.Exploit.Meta_Data.B'
    My Questions:
    What exactly is a "BomFatalError"?
Is there anyway to reinstall Tiger, short of a clean install?
Could the erratic behavior of my powerbook be caused only by a few corrupted system files, or is the potentially damaged logic board a greater culprit?
PS: S.M.A.R.T. status of hard drive is 'verified', so don't believe new drive is at fault. Besides no errors found with Disk Warrior, Disk Utility, or TechTool Pro.
"Terminal Window states "Welcome to Darwin!"

    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   1.5 Ghz/1.5GB RAM/120GB drive+ext HD

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Some but not all 1.5 Ghz Powerbooks are covered by a lower RAM slot repair program which does not require AppleCare for a free repair:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303173
I would investigate that possibility first. If out of AppleCare or the exchange program, these places can usually repair it out of warranty for less than Apple:

    http://www.powerbookresq.com/
    http://www.microdocusa.com/
    http://www.macspecialist.com/
    http://www.techrestore.com/
A BOM Fatal error usually has to do with the archiving software used to extract the archive files used to make the software installer.
Mac OS X does not have a clean install per say, and this user tip of mine explains that:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=607614
And no you can't reinstall except restoring from backup after an erase and install and upgrading via the combo update. Here's my upgrade FAQ and backup FAQ which should help you once your RAM is fixed*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/upgradefaq.html
    http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html
Virus Barrier may be the problem.
Using the wrong Techtool Pro or Disk Warrior can also be a problem as my safe utilities FAQ* explains:

  • Fatal error installing software photosmart c7250 on windows vista 32 bit

Issue with Uninstall and Install print driver software on my PC - printer is HP Photosmart all in one C7250 - wireless network hook-up
My printer had been working for many years.  Then some of the photo print functionality had stopped working - I suspect because there may have been a conflict with multiple HP print drivers on my PC.  So I attempted to Unistall all HP software (via window uninstall).  All successfully uninstalled except:
    C:\program files/hp/digital imaging\esupport\hpzscr01.exe
    C:\program files/hp/digital imaging\ocr\hpzscr01.exe
    C:\pro...
    C:\pr...
I was able to manually unistall the first 2 files since I could see where they were located.  But I have no idea about the other 2 becasue the error message did not provide full name as you can see.  I tried to install anyway (using HP Solution for Install Errors - Windows Vista).  Followed all instructions.  The install of latest driver/software (downloaded from the HP website) got as far as detecting my wireless printer; then it gets stuck at the config stage at 96% for 15+ minutes - then runtime error situation code 07417929.  HELP!  I think it's all becasue I can't unistall these phantom files.  does anyone have advice?
    ---------------- More INFO ---------------------
After above, I am able to print in the basic way - but my HP Solution Center Software in not operational.  Message when I try to open Solution Center is "No HP Devices habe been detected."
I have a LOG file with some PRT Screens that I wish I could attach to this note (can't figure out how).  It may give more insight to the errors.

The security settings are for local security, if you are not in a corporate enviroment, there should be no reason to worry.
Something we have not tried yet would be to
    1. Uninstall the current HP software.
    2. Turn off the printer and unplug it.
    3. Install the software, and at the point it asks whether it is a wireless or wired connection, choose wireless, and when the configuration window pops up immediately cancel it.
    4. It will go back to the page that asks you if it is a wired or wireless connection, choose cancel again and select OK.
    5. It will finish installation then ask about placing an icon on the desktop, choose yes and tell it to complete the software installation and place an icon on the desktop.
    6. Once that completes, plug in the printer, turn it on, and click on the icon to have it search for, configure, and install the printer.
    Let me know what happens.

  • Install on windows without administrator privilege

I try to install jrockit jdk on WinXP. I am normal user, and cannot become administrator. The error message reported: "Administrator privileges are required to run this installer". Is there any other way to install except getting administrator rights?

Have you tried skipping the 'Install public JRE' step, it's should only
be this step that requires admin privileges.
We will verify the behaviour and fix it if it's not the case.
If skipping the jre step doesn't help, you can do the following:
    *Unzip 'win_ia32_jrockit150_03_sdk_no_jre.zip' and
    'win_ia32_jrockit150_03_jre.zip' from the installer exe
('jrockit-25.2.0-jdk1.5.0_03-win-ia32.exe'), put them for instance in
    c:\tmp.
*Unzip 'win_ia32_jrockit150_03_sdk_no_jre.zip' into c:\jrockit (or some
    other directory of your choice).
    *Unzip 'win_ia32_jrockit150_03_jre.zip' into c:\jrockit\jre

  • Trouble Installing Software & Updates, Please Help!

So my problem is installing software. I can download the packages just fine, they appear on my desktop and I can open the installer. The installer will start going along with it's business and finally at the very end it tells me that there was "an error installing software" or something to that effect.
When I try to install updates from Software Update it tells me "Make sure you have permission to write to /private/tmp/501 TemporaryItems com.apple.SoftwareUpdate, then try again."
I cannot find this folder anywhere on my computer, Is this a folder? I don't even know.
Any help or insights would be extremely appreciated!!!!!!!
400 MHz PowerPC G3   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   iMac DV Slot Loading CD-ROM

    Hi Laura,
first of all: WELCOME TO THE DISCUSSIONS!
The directory you mentioned, /tmp/501/TemporaryItems/ exists at the top level of the directory tree, but it is Unix stuff that has been made invisible so that it does not get damaged or trashed. You can do a Finder search for the invisible "private" folder, and in that the "tmp" folder is not invisible, it is just inside an invisible folder. Once you find "private", you can open it by double-clicking its Icon in the Find display. Now you can see the 501 folder. Click on that and you see TemporaryItems.
Now you can click that folder, type Apple-i and change the permissions to yourself.
The different 501 temporary folders are here:
    /private/var/tmp/mds/
    /private/var/tmp/folders/
    /.TemporaryItems/
    /private/var/tmp/
In the Finder you could also choose "Go to folder..." and enter the path as I written above.

  • During the installation of Mozilla Firefox 4.0 on Windows Vista, I received an error message saying that I need administrative privileges to install. Are administrative privileges necessary to install Mozilla Firefox 4.0 on Windows Vista?

The happens when I attemp to install Mozilla Firefox 4.0 on a classified network. Initially when I try to install Firefox 4.0, a screen comes up saying that I need administrative privileges to install. Then when I cancel my logon username/password administrative screen, the installation process lets me continue and I can install the Firefox 4.0 software. I would like to know if Firefox 4.0 might encounter problems later on a classified network if Im able to install the software initially.

hello, when this is happening after you've already updated firefox with your admin account, try to delete the ''updates'' folder and ''active-update.xml & updates.xml'' within the %localappdata% folder of your restricted account like it is described in http://kb.mozillazine.org/Software_Update#Software_Update_not_working_properly

  • How do I obtain administrative privileges in order to install software ?

How do I obtain administrative privileges in order to download software ?  I am  trying to download Garmin Maps for my Garmin Nuvi 260W.  Thank you.

Thanks Eric.  I am the user administrator plus there is a guest user.  However, when I attempt to download Garmin Express installer an apple box appears requesting my Apple Id and password and when I enter this nothing happens and when I cancel this I get a message stating that I need administrative privileges to install the software .  Any assistance which you could give me would be greatly appreciated as it is very frustrating when I am unable to download maps from Garmin when I have previously purchased lifetime maps.

    I have similar issues.
    What I've tried:
Installing Windows Installer Cleanup (which is, btw, no longer approved by Microsoft), but the installation of this tool failed
    Removing Adobe AIR with CCleaner
Cleaning up the registry with CCleaner
Running the Adobe CS5 Clean script - but AIR is not among the options available
Adding a "-uninstall" suffix in a shortcut as suggested here: http://www.sevenforums.com/software/68987-cant-install-adobe-air-2.html#post749619
Using Ninite installer: http://ninite.com/air/ (as suggested here: http://www.sevenforums.com/software/68987-cant-install-adobe-air-3.html#post1318156). I got the error: "Install failed - Could not verify installation (1), 7 - 1329"
In the registry, under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/Installer/Products/, manually removing the entry with .air-files (which is of course risky business)
Installing an older version of AIR (2.0.2)
Trying to uninstall - and remove AIR components with Revo Uninstaller Pro. This actually looked quite promising since it appearingly found a lot of "abandoned" AIR files. Unfortunately this didn't help either
None of the above has helped, since when trying to install AIR I keep getting the administrator error:
"An error occurred while installing Adobe AIR. Installation may not be allowed by your administrator. Please contact your administrator."
As far as I can tell from googling various sites, this is a pretty common error, but none of the solution proposals seem to work for me.
Any suggestions on what else to try???

  • I do not have administrator privileges to install itunes or quicktime

Okay, so I bought an iPod touch 64gig last week, and in order to set it up you must plug it into iTunes. When i try to install itunes, i click run and follow the instruction through the installation, right before the download completes a pop up says that i do no have administrator privileges to modify C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin. (everytime i try it, the directory changes i.e. "mobile device support" will change to bonjour or apple software update and other apple programs) I then try it again and it says that i must delete the previous version of quicktime before installing the new itunes and quicktime, but when i try to delete the old version of quicktime it says "the installer had insufficient privileges to modify this file: C:\Program Files (x86)\QuickTime\QuickTime ReadMe.htm.
My computer is a brand new HP, with windows vista (64 bit), we have had itunes working on this computer before but one day when i went to open itunes it said i had no permission, i contacted apple and they said to delete all apple programs from my computer and try and reinstall them, all of them were successfully deleted except for quicktime, and now itunes won't even reinstall.
Please i need help, otherwise this ipod isn't nothing but a $400 paperweight.
    Thanks,

Let's first try something relatively simple. Download and save a 64-bit version of the iTunes installer (iTunes64Setup.exe) to your hard drive. (Don't run the install on line.)
Now try right-clicking the installer file and selecting "Run as administrator".
Does that get you past the privileges errors?

  • Administrator Privileges required - can't install PocketMac

I can't get around this issue.  Honestly, I could never really sync my BB Storm to my PPC Mac.  Now, after upgrading to Leopard, I get this error:
"The software to be installed requires Administrator or higher level access privileges."
I AM the administrator.  I've repaired permissions.  Don't know where else to go.

Can you tell me what version of Mac OS X you have and happened when you tried to install PocketMac? I've installed it, but it's not that useful. Rumor has it they are releasing BlackBerry Desktop for the Mac on Friday. I don't know if that's true--I signed up for updates weeks ago but haven't heard a word yet--but that's what other people here have told me.
    Entourage is
    a) an original HBO series
    b) a mail program from the Micro$oft evil empire
I watched "a" for the first time last week. It wasn't bad, but I don't know what all the fuss is.
So far I have managed to lead a relatively full and productive life without ever using "b" (even though it is installed on my computer because I had to get M$ Awffice for work). Don't ever let anybody tell you you need it.
AFAIK the only way to get it is to go out and buy M$ Awffice, and if you get the le$$ expen$ive "Home and Student Edition," you get a stripped down version of Entourage that M$ Exchange servers won't even talk to and doesn't support Web services. The full version of Awffice will set you back $399.95 (list). Trust me. You can live without it.
