(This is my first mac ever ... I've been pc'd for over 21 years and I'm fairly fluent in windows) However, I have a error -50 when I send messages from entourage ... where do i find a listing of error messages and what they mean?

Error -2048 ususally implies you're trying to open a MPEG-2 file which is not supported in QuickTime Player 7 for Windows without the MPEG-2 Playback Component ($20 from the Apple Store).
You can use the free VLC app to play it back.

I think the error console might be a source of memory and lagging errors

I notice that if I open the Firefox Error Console logs that the error listings are fast and frequent (which is okay if the browser is working past them). However, after using Firefox v2 and upward I am now pondering if the error log might be the source of the hard-to-kill lagging and memory issues. I note that as the longer Firefox runs, the longer the error log must grow as well as the number of page fault calls which all eats up memory or requires more frequent disk swap paging to record it all. The longer it all runs, the bigger the error log goes.
Since the error log probably gets more leeway on memory cleanups and CPU hits (to retain accuracy) this eats up more processor time and more hard-to-kill memory space, which then kicks in the system's Paging File causing more disk swapping.
My suggestion is simple, create an ABOUT:CONFIG option to, clip off the error log once 100 (or user-defined) errors are hit. Delete the oldest errors, keep the newest until they get pushed off the rotating stack. Obvious problems with this are first renumbering rolls (deleting 001 and changing 002 to oo1 and so on also eats up pointless CPU cycles). Having an ever-growing numbering stack would hit an out-of-bounds error eventually (delete 001, number latest error 101, and so on).
A rotating "ERROR ROLLOVER LIST POSITION MARKER" is simpler.
Just have a variable called "ERROR LIST ROLL MARKER" and it holds a variable of 001 to 100. Whatever numerical value of the "ERROR LIST ROLL MARKER" is marks where the text value of the error listing is named "ERROR LIST ROLL MARKER".
Let us use for example that the last error on the rolling error list was at position 087

The value of numeric variable "ERROR LIST ROLL MARKER" would be 088
The text value for error list position 088: [ ERROR LIST ROLL MARKER ]
When we get the next new error, the variable numeric value of "ERROR LIST ROLL MARKER" would become 089
The text for error list position 089 would become: [ ERROR LIST ROLL MARKER ]
The text value for error list position 088 would become the text of whatever the current error was.
In this manner you can keep a simple quick list, save a bundle of memory, and in the event of a crash, you look for ERROR LIST ROLL MARKER values and you know exactly what the last error was and the 99 that preceded it.
When the ERROR LIST ROLL MARKER hits 100, then you simply push that to the 001 location when the next error hits and after the next error, the ERROR LIST ROLL MARKER becomes 002 and that current error text overwrites the 001 location.

Hi, I managed to solve the errors (kind of) by using this code.

Unknown sync error -- Tried everything (?)

I've recently switched from Chrome to Firefox to try and get as far away from Google as possible. There, I never had any issues with syncing across devices and platforms.
On my Windows desktop, syncing never fails. On my MacBook Air, it always says, along the bottom of the window, that an unknown error has occurred.
I did have the Keychain Services Integration add-on installed, but removed it because I thought that that might be why. Still, I get an unknown error. I removed *every* Firefox-related file on my MBA and got everything going again (minus that add-on), and it still throws an error. I also tried deleting the profile and creating a new one, resulting in the same error. Lastly, I tried the PlacesCleaner add-on, also with the same results.
I'd attach a sync log, but it seems like some of what's in it might be private.
Any ideas?

You could '''Unlink''' that MBA from Sync, then restart Firefox on the MBA and then re-connect to your Sync account, to see if that helps.
There's no private information in Sync error logs, but most of those logs contain more characters that these "Post a Reply" boxes can handle and the formatting might not carry thru when posted.
In the second column of the Error log look thru the '''Sync.Status''' items for the first listed ERROR; subsequent ERROR listings might be of interest. Also, any '''Sync.ErrorHandler''' lines might have information we can use.

I'm trying to get a JSP page to open a database connection via a userbean (Tomcat version 4.1).
After a series of errors (fixed!), I'm left with this:

Yes, that fixed it. Is there any kind of reference book for all error listings and their fixes ? The scripting reference do not mention anything about error messages.
Now, this is my new problem. The 1st script is fine, creates the table with 1 column. When I extend the script to create 2 columns, it complains.

What am I missing ? When it says, column 250 - is it the 250th character of the complete script, as it seems there is no 2nd line in the scripting - everything in the sccript is in 1 line. Is there a way we can break the line into many, so debugging becomes easy. Instead of saying Line 1 column 250 - it would be better if it says line 4 column 10.

IPad Contacts corrupted - how replace?

Due to an apparent syncing error, listings in my iPad Address Book were doubled and some even tripled and data jumbled from one contact in fields of another contact. No way to just delete some files since almost all had bad information.
After clearing the entries in the iPad Address Book (thinking I could reinstate the information from the Mac), when I attempted to sync, I was warned that "syncing with the iPad would change more than 5% of the contacts on my computer with would change the Contacts on my Mac" which is not what is wanted.
I can not see a way to move the 326 Address Book entries from the Mac (which is correct and backup has been done) to the iPad which is now completely blank of information. I can find nothing in Apple help or in the iPad manual to deal with this problem.

Forms and Network Resource

I have made several forms using Adobe 9 and distributed them. Most often I get a message in the Tracker that says "you do not have access rights to this network resource". Is Acrobat.com considered a network resource? If so, then how do I change my settings? When the error message appears, I cannot ever stop collecting information or delete the message. Help!

Finally, someone else who has had the same experience! I was finally able to get a bunch of me error listings in the Tracker deleted. I have an alternate email account. I went into Acrobat.com and "shared" the files giving the error posts with that email. Then went into the alternate email, put in some bogus information, and hit the submit button. Later I went back into Tracker and was able to remove the response form the list.
This method did not work for all of the postings. I had three that had been emailed instead of diseminated via Acrobat.com, and those postings have not been able to be deleted yet. But at least a chunk of the junk is gone.
After trying to get some answers on some tricky problems, I get the distinct impression that Adobe is just so darn big, with so many different facets, that it is practically impossible for any tech to have knowledge of how all the different programs work together. Either that or ya just have to suck it up and either pay the big bucks to get more in-depth professional help, of get lucky, like I did with this fix.
Pretty darn hard to get work done when ya have to spend valuable time fereting out solutions to problems that should never have popped up, eh?

iTunes cannot convert protected WMA tracks. There may also be problems if it can't get full access permissions. What exactly are you trying to do when the error occurs?

Hi, Looks like port 7777 in your machine is being used by some other process. Either kill the process using port 7777 or change the port of Web Cache. To change Web Cache's port, open the file webcache.xml in Oracle_Home directory & change it to some other free port number & restart all Web Cache processes.

Did you delete them or turn off Internet Radio in preferences? If you actively deleted them see Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash for a way to revert back to a recent version of your library that should have your listings. It may be possible to export the list of stations, restore the current library, and then import the listings again.

Error 400 when clicking on Monster job listings.

All versions of Firefox loaded since March 2010 have this problem. Cannot load Monster job details after clicking on the job link. Browser responds with Error 400. Must copy job link, then paste into IE.

Hi - I tried what you recommended. No change.
I did notice for Normal mode and Safe mode, the very first time that I click on a job listing, the listing will display normally. However, all subsequent clicks on that job link or any job link will come back with "Error 400. Your browser sent an invalid request."

I too am having problems importing track names. I am also getting a message to check my internet connection - even am I was connected and even have the CDDB website open in the browser.

Error while trying SSL on OHS

I'm getting "Init: SSL call to NZ function nzos_OpenWallet failed with error 29248" error in log file HTTP_Server~1 while starting OHS (using opmnctl startall).
I created a Wallet with auto login option checked. I was able to create certificate Request and got a certificate from verisign (14 days Validity). I imported Root certificate and intermediate certificate from verisign into the wallet and then successfully imported the trial certificate. After saving the wallet in default location I got 2 files (cwallet.sso and ewallet.p12) there.

Found a note explaining the significance of these errors.
It says:
"NZE-28862: SSL connection failed
Cause: This error occurred because the peer closed the connection.
Action: Enable Oracle Net tracing on both sides and examine the trace output. Contact Oracle Customer support with the trace output."

Error importing CD (required folder cannot be found)

iTunes 10.6, running on a Mac Mini with OSX 10.6.8

A bit of backstory. Been using iTunes to manage my music collection for over 8 years. At one point, I moved my music off of a primary disk to an external disk, although perhaps oddly set up, in that the 'iTunes Music Library.xml' file was still local (under ~User/Music), and just the music files were external (under /Volumes/Media/Music). When the iTunes Media directory structure upgrade happened, the only way I could access my music was to put a soft link from the Music folder to my external drive.
For awhile now, I've been in a state where for the most part, I can listen to all of my music, but when I try to import a CD, I get the 'required folder cannot be found' error.
Help! Do I have to rebuild my file somehow? Edit the xml file directly?

I have the same problem. I recently moved my music from a Vista PC to a new Laptop with an external CD drive. It will copy one song from the CD and it will show in the Music file and then I get the message ' Error importing a CD - Folder not found'. I must unplug the CD drive and plug it back in. I have seen no fix for this problem.
