Hi,
I just try to install the setup download from apple website for iTune and iCloud.
During the installation, there was error message prompt out "There is a problem with this Windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
I am using Window 7 32 bit. I have try several time for install, but the result is getting same error message.
Anyone can help on this??????

I have also tried extracting the individual components to the temp file and attempting to install them individually despite being unable to remove the previous install of Apple Software Updater. The outcome, both Apple Software Updater and itunes encountered the same error message during the install process.

I have a brand new HP laptop windows 64bit that is having issues installing Itunes 10.6.3. Whenever attempting to install, I get the error message : "THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE WINDOWS INSTALLER PACKAGE. Apparently it's an itunes issue. I just tried to update and got the same issue. Called att to activate my iphone 4s and they say they can do the swap but apple is telling them itunes is down atm. So will have to wait

Go to START > ALL PROGRAMS > Apple Software Update. If it offers you a newer version of Apple Software Update, do it but Deselect any other software offered at the same time. Once done, try another iTunes install
If you can't find ASU, go to Control Panel:
XP - Add n Remove Programs
Win7/Vista - Programs n Features
Highlight ASU, click change then Repair. -

Repair your Apple software update.
Go to START > ALL PROGRAMS > Apple Software Update. If it offers you a newer version of Apple Software Update, do it but Deselect any other software offered at the same time. Once done, try another iTunes install

Follow Microsoft instructions below on how to take control of the Folder. You may apply this on your C:\Program Files(x86)\iTunes
You may take the ownership of the folder and then use the steps to grant permission to everyone–
Locate the file or folder on which you want to take ownership in windows explorer
Right click on file or folder and select “Properties” from Context Menu
Click on Security tab
Click on “Advance”
Now click on Owner tab in Advance Security Settings for User windows
Click on Edit Button and select user from given Change Owner to list if user or group is not in given list then, click on other users or groups. Enter name of user/group and click ok.
Now select User/group and click apply and ok. (Check “Replace owner on sub containers and objects” if you have files and folder within selected folder)
Click ok when Windows Security Prompt is displayed
Now Owner name must have changed.
Now click Ok to exist from Properties windows
Once you have taken the ownership of file or folder
Grant Permissions to everyone-
Go to C: and then click right click on folder and chooseproperties.
Then go to security tab and click Edit then clickAdd => Advanced.
If you click on advanced now click on Find Now and chooseeveryone and click Ok.
Then again click Ok and now click onAllow => Full control => Ok. -

I had itunes set up and working since i have had my iPhone and iPad. One day it asked to be updated, so i did. After it updated it stopped working because whenever i tried to open it it would say "this shortcut has either been deleted or moved would you like to delete this shortcut". I'm trying to install iTunes 10.3 on my PC (windows vista) and I keep getting this message, "There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package. I accidentally removed the Bonjour service from my system a few weeks ago, but my iTunes continued to work. Now I have no iTunes and I don't know how to fix it. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!
a colleague of mine suffers from the same problem. did a quick look on the apple support pages. found many topics covering the same problem.
also saw 1 marked as correct answer... (just browse the discussion pages before you ask, this answer appearantly was sitting there from oct. 14...)

Hi Rick,
by "repair" I mean I went to the control panel, option - programs and features, and in the list of all my installed programs I selected "Apple Software Update". On top of the screen you find the options Uinstall, Change and Repair. I clicked the repair button and that did the trick. After the repair I could uninstall the program. I also uninstalled iTunes, Apple Application Support, Apple Mobile Device Support en Bonjour, thus all Apple programs. Then I installed iTunes 10.5 again and everything went fine.
