Error Message When Inserting Data Into Table

Hi,
I am trying to insert the following value into my customer table, however i get the following error on doing so.
ERROR: date format picture ends before converting entire input string
STATEMENT:
insert into phonecall (start_date_time)
values(10-JAN-2006 11:53:09)
any ideas as to what might be wrong with my insert statement to bring up this error ??
start_date_time is a DATE field by the way.

Or
SQL> alter session set nls_date_format='DD-MM-YYYY HH24:MI:SS';
Session altered.
SQL> create table aa (test date)
2 /
Table created.
SQL> insert into aa values ('11-12-2006 12:11:22')
2 /
1 row created.
SQL> select * from aa ;
TEST

• Getting error message when passing data into table: Primary Key

Getting an error in a process that is feeding the invoice creation in SAP, violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint 'INV1_Primary', cannot insert duplicate key in object 'INV1'. I assume this is due to duplicate key values being passed into the table INV1, however I get this error even when I am passing unique record combinations of the key fields docentry and linenum. This is on 2005A SP01.
Thanks

Hi Peter,
Could you provide a code sample of the routine that is causing the error please?
It sounds like a data corruption issue (though it could possibly be a bug in the DI API). I recommend you speak to SAP support. There is a utility that can validate the document numbering but you'll need to speak to SAP support before you run this as it can have other negative effects, depending on the state of your data. They may ask for a copy of your database to test.

• Error Message when entering data into a table from an array

When i use the following:

i get the following error message:
SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Syntax error (missing operator) in query expression 'Audi A2 (Standard & SE)'.
where: 'Audi A2 (Standard & SE)' is the value stored in carData[4].
Can anyone help?

You need to enclose carData[0],carData[1] etc in single quotes, if they are String(s). Otherwise you can use PreparedStatement.
PreparedStatement ps = con.prepareStatement("Insert into car values(22 questions marks)");
ps.setInt(1,temp);
for(int i=0;i<21;i++) ps.setString(i+2,carData[ i ]);
int count=ps.executeUpdate();

• Insert data into table from JSP page using Entity Beans(EJB 3.0)

I want to insert data into a database table from JSP page using Entity Beans(EJB 3.0).
1. I have a table 'FRIENDS', (in Oracle 10g database).
2. It has two columns, 'NAME' and 'CITY'. Both have datatype strings(varchar2).
3. Now from a JSP page, having two textfields, 'NAME' and 'CITY', I want to insert data into table 'FRIENDS'.
4. In between JSP and database is a Entity Bean(EJB 3.0) and a stateless session bean.
5. I am using JDev as editor.
Please provide me code ASAP or link with similar example.
Thank you.

Hi,
I am also trying that scenario. So u can
Post the jsp form data to a Servlet which will act as a Controller.
In the servlet invoke the business method.
Similar kind of app is in www.roseindia.net
Hope this would help u.
Meanwhile if u get any optimal solution, pls post it.
Thanks,

Hi Smash126,
Based on the error message” Could not allocate a new page for database REPORTING' because of insufficient disk space in filegroup 'PRIMARY'. Create the necessary space by dropping objects in the filegroup, adding additional files to the filegroup, or setting
autogrowth on for existing files in the filegroup”, we can know that the issue is caused by the there is no sufficient disk space in filegroup 'PRIMARY' for the ‘REPORTING’ database.
To fix this issue, we can add additional files to the filegroup by add a new file to the PRIMARY filegroup on Files page, or setting Autogrowth on for existing files in the filegroup to increase the necessary space.

• Insert data into table 1 but remove the duplicate data

hello friends,
i m trying to insert data into table tab0 using hints,
query is like this..
INSERT INTO /*+ APPEND PARALLEL(tab0) */ tab NOLOGGING
(select /*+ parallel(tab1)*/
colu1,col2
from tab1 a
where a.rowid =(select max (b.rowid) from tab2 b))
but this query takes too much time around 5 hrs...
bz data almost 40-50 lacs.
i m using
a.rowid =(select max (b.rowid) from tab2 b))....
this is for remove the duplicate data..
but it takes too much time..
so please can u suggest me any ohter option to remove the duplicate data so it
resolved the optimization problem.
thanks in advance.

In the code you posted, you're inserting two columns into the destination table. Are you saying that you are allowed to have duplicates in those two columns but you need to filter out duplicates based on additional columns that are not being inserted?
If you've traced the session, please post your tkprof results.
What does "table makes bulky" mean? You understand that the APPEND hint is forcing the insert to happen above the high water mark of the table, right? And you understand that this prevents the insert from reusing space that has been freed up because of deleted in the table? And that this can substantially increase the cost of full scans on the table. Did you benchmark the INSERT without the APPEND hint?

• Insert Data into Table from TXT or CSV file !!!!!

Dear All,
Recently I have started working on APEX. In Oracle Forms, we used to use TEXT_IO for inserting records into tables from txt files. Now I want to do the same thing in apex 3.2. How can I insert data into tables from txt of csv files.
Waiting of your valuable suggestions.
With kind regards,
Yousuf.

Yousuf
wwv_flow_files is used by APEX to hold uploaded files.
If you incorporate a file browse item on you page, browse for the selected file, then submit the page (having the PL/SQL process described as an on suibmit process) then what I detailed should work.
If you don't need users to have access to this then just go to Home>Utilities>Data Load/Unload in APEX and there is a handy load utility there that does it all for you.
Cheers

• I am getting error messages when keying entries into SAP in transaction cod

I am getting error messages when keying entries into SAP in transaction code F-02. It will tell me that an asset doesn't exist in the company code I am posting to when the asset does exist. For example in the parked document 101079622 it tells me that asset WV0707711 doesnt' exist in CoCode . But what is keyed in the document is WV07077 1 1.
And when i look in Transaction AS03 for this asset number it does indeed exist in Co Code. Also if you take these assets out and park it and then go into Transaction FBV2 and add the asset back into the document it will add it and then post to it. This happens often and is very time consuming. I need to know how to fix this without all this additional effort

Hi,
it is urgent can any one help on this.

Hi,
obviously you try to drag and drop a component to a place where it breaks the document. Make sure the table is added to the JSP body. Have a look at the page sources for existing syntax problems - e.g. missing close elemenents or misplaced elements

• Insert data into table

When I try to insert data into the table, I get the error message:
[Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC][SQLServer]The name 'uniqueID' is not permitted in this context. Only constants, expressions, or variables allowed here. Column names are not permitted.
What is wrong in the following code?
String uniqueID, GenericType;
float elevation, CalcTotalHeight, CalcTotalArea, CalcTotalVolume;
stmt.executeUpdate(
"INSERT INTO IFCData VALUES (uniqueID, GenericType, elevation, CalcTotalHeight, CalcTotalArea, CalcTotalVolume)" );

No, sorry, now that I look at it for more than five seconds, your SQL is wrong.
You don't have a list of columns that you are updating; I'm not sure whether this is bad SQL or whether the database will assume you meant to update all the columns in their declared order. But more to the point, the "values" you are assigning to those columns are not what you want. For example, the value you assign to the first column is uniqueid, meaning either the column named uniqueid or some SQL constant named uniqueid. There isn't any such thing, hence the message.
I suppose you wanted to put the value of the Java variable "uniqueid" there. Of course the database and the JDBC driver don't know anything about the names of variables in your code, so they can't replace the string "uniqueid" by the value of the variable. The way to do that is to use a prepared statement, like this:PreparedStatement ps = conn.prepareStatement("INSERT INTO IFCData VALUES (?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?)");
// fix this SQL so you name the columns you are inserting into as well
ps.setString(1, uniqueID);
ps.setString(2, GenericType);
ps.setFloat(3, elevation);
// and so on
ps.executeUpdate();PC²

• Error messages when sending date-time stamp to Oracle Database

I have a complex application that communicates with an Oracle database. One of the table values that gets written to the table is a date-time stamp. Until recently, the user only required a date, and this was never an error. (The format String used was %d-%b-%Y) Now they need a time-stamp as well, so I attempted to edit the format string input of the format date/time string function to include the time. I have tried numerous format strings, each of which returns an error on execution. Depending on which format I use, I get one of 3 different error messages. The really odd thing is that both the date and time always get stored in Oracle without any problem (regardless of what date-time I use, as long as I include the date and any part of a time stamp - I get the entire timestamp even if I only include %I for the hour). The only issue is that LabVIEW generates an ODBC error if I try to include the time to the date-time stamp. In other words, teh date/time stamp writes to the Oracle database, but an ODBC error occurs every time. I've included a word doc with screen captures of the format strings used, the resultant date/time stamps written to Oracle and the error messages generated within LabVIEW. Any advice would be most appreciated.
Attachments:
Summary of ODBC Error messages related to date-time stamp.doc ‏65 KB

Oracle has a standard date format: 12-Mar-2009 that it accepts as a string, but if you want more than that, you need to use the todate() function. I used this string going into the standard LabVIEW ''Format date/time sting vi'
to_date('%d-%b-%Y %H:%M:%S', 'DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MIS') to create the value needed for Oracle.
Then I use standard format string to create SQL: insert into mytable (mydate) values(%s) and select * from my table where mydate = %s using the string above for %s.
I think you can also define a global format for all time strings but I haven't bothered figuring that out.
