Error message when trying to install itunes 9

I checked already to see if this was answered earlier and it isnt. so.
When i open the itunes installer and right after it prepares to install i get the message "invalid drive:F:/" and then itunes installer tells me that it cannot complete the install. I usually am able to get around things like this myself but im stumped here so please if you can help me. thanks.

When i open the itunes installer and right after it prepares to install i get the message "invalid drive:F:/"
Often the cause of that is that the Windows installer database (that Windows installer checks on when uninstalling previous versions of iTunes) has become convinced that an iTunes program file or whatnot is actually located (in your case) on the F drive. If you don't happen to have an F drive on the system, the installer gets horribly confused when it goes to remove the file (or files or whatnot) and you get an "Invalid drive:" error. (In your case, "Invalid drive:F:/".)
So first we should try temporarily adding an F drive to your system. (If the Installer can actually see an F drive it usually calms down, even if the files/whatnot in question aren't there.)
Here's Vista instructions for that.
Do you have an external drive or a thumb drive of some description? (An iPod in manual mode would do fine ... anything that shows up in "Computer" as a drive would be fine.)
If so, plug the external drive in. Go "Start > Computer" and check the drive letter it gets assigned in "Computer".
(1) *If the drive letter the external is assigned is F,* try another iTunes install *(install iTunes to its standard default location, not onto the F).*
(2) *If the drive letter the external is assigned is not F,* change the drive letter to F using Disk Management, using the following steps:
In your Start menu, right-click "Computer", and select "Manage"
Click "Disk Management".
In Disk Management, right-click the external drive and select "Change Drive letter and paths ..."
Click "Change".
Select "F" and click okay.
Now try another iTunes install *(install iTunes to the default location, not onto the F).*
Does that get you past the "Invalid Drive F" message?

  • Weird Error Message when Trying to Install iTunes 10

I had to uninstall iTunes recently because it was getting an error message when I tried to open it and that message suggested I remove and reinstall it. Now when I try to install iTunes 10 (I had a lower version before, iTunes 9.something), I get this message:
An error occured during the installation of assmebly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32",publicKeyToken="1fc8b 3b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="x76"'. Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x8007054F
I absolutely hate messages like these, you can't do anything with them and it makes you feel like the problem is unfixable. Hopefully that's not the case because until this is fixed I have no iTunes or Quicktime.

Through my own cunning and genius, I have found the way for someone else to guide me step-by-step exactly what to do.
For anybody else having this problem, GO HERE: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;946414
The solution is that "Regedit" thing where you delete certain parts of your registry and then restart your computer. Just do like it says there and you'll be good to go. Finally, this nightmare of epic proportions is over, and I can get back to playing airsoft.

  • Error Message when trying to install iTunes

I'm trying to install itunes to my laptop.  It downloaded tp my computer fine, but as it tries to install i receive and errror window that says, "Application support is currently suspended.  you must undo the changes made by that installation to continue. Do you want to undo those changes?"  if i click "yes" it pops up again immediately.  if I press "no" the installation tries to continue and the same message pops up 3 more times.  if i press "no" to clear it i finally get the message, "iTunes Installer Interupted.  Errors occured during installation before the requested operations for the iTunes could be completed.  Your system has not been modified.  To complete the installation, run the installer again. Click Fiinish to exit the installer."   If i hit finish and try again, I go through all the same errors each time.
    I have windows 8.
    Any ideas?

    many thanks.
It failed to update and the error code is 8000FFFF
Good-O ... with that one, let's try the fixit from the following Microsoft document:
    [Windows Update error 8000FFFF|http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Windows-Update-Error- 8000FFFF]
Does that get your Windows Updates flowing again? If so, stock up on the ones you're behind on (there may be quite a lot of them) and then try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Error message when trying to install iTunes on my pc

Hi I have tried several times now to install iTunes on my PC (Windows XP).
The error message reads:  "The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured. Errors occurred during installation. Your system has not been modified".
I have tried the help topic "Using Msconfig to troubleshoot conflicts in Windows XP" but I don't have the "iTunesHelper" and "qttask" checkboxes at step 7.  I have tried carrying on without these two tick-boxes and restarted the pc but I get the same error message.
    Any ideas (gratefully received!)?

    I keep getting the message
"could not write value to key\software\classes\.rmp\openwithlist\itunes.exe

    thanks.

+could not write value to key\software\classes\.rmp\openwithlist\itunes.exe+
That's not the most common of keys to be cited in this context. However it's close enough to a different (more familiar) key message to suggest a course of action.

hmmmm ... it sounds like you're clicking inside the folder containing installation configuration information for your iTunes.
what happens if you download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (installer) file to your desktop, and then run the install by doubleclicking on that?

  • Error Messages when trying to install, uninstall or run iTunes 9

I get the following error message when trying to Install iTunes:
The path C:\DOCUME~1\Frank\LOCALS~1\Temp\IXP206.TMP\iTunes.msi cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again, or try to find the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in a folder from which you can install the product iTunes.
I search my entire computer for the file but it's not there.
Then, when I try to uninstall the iTunes and start the install from scratch I get another error:
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable"
Catch-22, I can't install or uninstall and when I try to run iTunes I get:
"The action is only valid for products that are installed"
Very frustrating but I'm stumped and I don't know how to proceed. Any help would be very much appreciated.

wooooooooo!!! got it working again!! having spent the last 6 hours..no joke six f*cking hours trying to sort it ive finally got iTunes back!!
ok here is what you need to do:
go to the link below and download the Microsoft Windows Installer CleanUp Facility.
    http://www.locksleynet.com/2009/06/09/missing-itunesmsi-problem-resolved/
once you have downloaded it, install it and run it from the start menu. once its up and running remove everything to do with iTunes (so iTunes itself, quicktime, bonjour......the lot). Dont worry about removing iTunes completely, all the music is still there when it works again trust me!!
ok once you have removed everything restart your computer, im not sure if this is a must but i did it.
next download quicktime from the apple website (go to the 'downloads' tab near the top. download and install quicktime and restart your computer so the new settings are put in to place ( i think it asks you to restart anyway).
go back to the apple website, 'downloads' tab and download iTunes itself. install that bad boy and you will be up and running with all your library intact!
Hope it works for you mate!

...iTunes.exe - Bad Image ...iTunes c:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Apple Apple Application Support\CoreADI.dll is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error .....
Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7,now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP,head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post. (If you've got XP, although the procedure is for Vista and 7, just read "Computer" as "My Computer", read "Uninstall a program control panel" as "Add or Remove programs control panel" and assume the system is 32-bit, and you'll be doing the right things.)

I found htis other post https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3401328?start=0&tstart=0
I also found this in another post
These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? (For example, 8007000B.)

"Error writing to file C:/Program Files/QuickTime/QTSystems/QuickTimeCheck.ocx. Verify that you have access to that directory."
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • Error message when trying to install Flash 10.0.45.2

I am running IE 7 on windows XP. We had some issues with Flash active active control version 10.1.53.64 and higher so I unistalled 10.1.53.64 and downloaded the older version (10.0.45.2) from the adobe website but when I try to install it I get the following error "The version of Adobe Flash Player that are trying to install is not the most current version. Please visit http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer to obtain the latest more secure version". I am however able to install version 9.0.289.0
Is there any particular reason that i cannot install 10.0.
The reason that I don't want to use 10.1 is because it has a bug that affects the working of my application and the audio some times does not play.
    Thanks

Thanks for the information. I downloaded the Active X from the link you provided but I am still getting the same error message

If I remember correctly, there were two different installers for 10.0.45.2: one that did the checking for a newer version, and one that did not.
The forum search is currently disabled, and I cannot find the topics that were discussed at the time.
However, I still have the installers for the non-check version available for download on my servers:
