  • Error message when trying to view PDF files online

When attempting to view pdf files I get the following error message:
There is a problem with adobe acrobat/reader. If it is running, please exit and try again. (507:507) Per instructions found in the forum, I have reinstalled and made sure that the box for viewing pdfs online is checked. I am still getting the error message.

Please let me know the following:
    1. The version of Adobe Reader on your system. You can get the same by clicking on Help > About Adobe Reader.
    2. The OS you are working on.
    3. The browser being used to render the PDF.

  • Get error message when trying to open a file in Adobe Indesign

    Hi,
I would appreciate some help here.
Just installed ID, and want to get started. When I try to open any file (pdf. jpg etc) I get the following message:
"Can´t open file. It might be that Adobe ID don´t support the file format, that the plug-in-module that supports the file format are missing, or that the file is open in another program".
I have tried ID on both my PC and Mac - the same error message is shown on both computers. It must be said that I am normaly as PS and AI user, and have not tried ID before. Maybe it is an easy solution to the problem, thus Adobe chat line could not help me.
I appreciate any help you can offer!

  • Error message when trying to open AI file

When I double click an AI file to open it, I get this message: "Can't open the illustration. There is not enough room for the window, increase document area and try again". This error started happening about a week or two ago. Although it is inconvenient to have to go to File>Open and then locate the file to open it since I am used to doing it the other way at least it is a way to open the AI file. I just discoved that if I double click a graphic in a Adobe Acrobat Pro using the Edit Object I get the same error message. This is a problem.
I have checked previous discussions about this and tried things like unchecking the "open as tab" option in the preferences but that does not work.
I would appreciate any other suggestions since this is very annoying.
    Thanks,

From post 15 of this threaad:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3899466#3899466
"I'll add an update to this problem using a Windows 7 Toshiba laptop running CS6 - I began to recieve the same message and Illustrator would resize itself to 1"h x 5"w box in the upper left of my screen.  Illustrator itself would be hidden behind the error dialogue box.
This would happen when I'd select an Illustrator file in Windows Explorer.  The first workaround was to maximize Illustrator and open the file through the Illustrator File>Open dialogue.  This always worked.
The final fix was to manually resized illustrator to about 1/3 screen size and try to open the file again in Windows Explorer.  Finally the files would open from Windows Explorer.  Keep reading.
However, each time I opened a file Illustrator would do a little hula dance and resize a good bit smaller than what I'd manually set it to.  It took about 4 resizes and 4 opening of files  = each time resizing the illustrator window larger until it actually occupied the whole screen.  It's working normally now."
Also, what happens if you open Illustrator and use File > Open?

  • Error message when trying to open iTunes files.

I just began having the problem of an error message appearing...
... if I double-click on an iTunes audio file mp3, m4a, etc. or even drag the file directly on to the iTunes application icon.
I did a rebuild of LaunchServices and rebooted but the message still will appear unless the file is opened from an iTunes playlist.
Yet the file plays in iTunes... but the error message is still there and has to be dismissed.
Whereas if I open the same file(s) via the playlist... I get no error message and the file(s) play fine.
Also if I drag the files on to QuickTime 10.0 they play fine without displaying an error message.
Though the error message indicates it's a link problem... from the above... I don't see how it can possibly be since even dragging an audio file directly on to the iTunes application icon still results in the error message appearing.
I only discovered this today when downloading Piezo and I attempted to open the m4a files it saved. So I then tried to open other iTunes files in Finder windows rather than the iTunes playlist window and had the error message appear again.
I don't want to have to add every audio file to an iTunes playlist in order to open it without the error message so can someone please suggest a fix?
    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Well I solved my problem.
What still doesn't make sense though is that dragging iTune audio files directly on to the iTunes application icon gave me the error message... which is why I originally discounted it as being a potential link problem. If I had been able to get files to open normally (i.e. without an error message) I would have known it was a simple link problem. Strange.
Anyway... relinking my folder of audio files did the trick.
If you don't already know how here are the steps...
iTunes > Preferences > Advanced > click on the "Change" button and browse to the folder that contains all of your iTunes audio files... that's it.

  • Receive error message when trying to open .rtf files.

I have .rtf files I am trying to open for school and cannot view them in TextEdit, Pages, Word for Mac, TextWringler, or Openoffice.org.  I can open the original file but when I edit them I get this error when I try and open them:
"The document 'xxx.rtf' could not be opened.  The file isn't in the correct format."
    In smaller text below it:
"The file might be corrupted, truncated, or in an unexpected format."
(To clarify, 'xxx' is not ****.  I replaced the actual file name with 'xxx' for this post.... just incase you were wondering)
I have also changed the extension to .txt and .doc and the best outcome I get is format code.
    Any help?

  • Error message when trying to open PDF from Sharepoint

I get an error message they says "There was an error opening this document. The filename, directory name or volume label syntax is incorrect." I am running IE9 and Adobe Reader 11, this also happens with IE10. I have made sure that everything is running correctly, but it isn't opening the document within IE like it is supposed too. Any ideas?

    Hi Melissa ,
Could  you please share the screen shot of the error message so that we can have an actual look at the error and would be able to assist you better.
Is this happening with all the PDF' you are trying to open from Sharepoint or some specific one'?

  • Cannot open \\psf\home\some_file error message when trying to open some file located on Mac hard drive

I have trio of 27 inch iMacs in my office and we all use Parallels 8 to develop content in Framemaker.  We have two 3 tb LaCie D2 Network 2 NAS' drives that we need to move our content to  one and do backups to the other.  The backups from the iMacs are working just fine (everything is MacOS, of course it works).  The error in the title is what I am getting after trying to access the NAS from windows  running in Parallels 8.
Why do I want  to do this?  Our main network server is 500 miles away and so is the DNS server, so when that connectivity is lost  I can't access my work locally (even though I can see file server (a Mac pro running Ubuntu or some such OS (honest, I didn't do it!!)).
Why?? I just want to have a a little control over my data and some resonable expectation that someone is planning for emergencies by having a robust strategy to file protection (I don't  right now, and I can't risk my hard earned work).
All my workstations connect to a gigabit switch  as do the LaCies.
Both LaCies are initialized as HFS+.
I  know I'm missing something,  I whish I knew what it is ( then the solution is easy!!)
    Ideas?

I think it's the content of the include that is causing your
troubles. Somehow you created a menu using Fireworks(?) or
Dreamweaver(?) and Contribute indicates javascripterrors, not php
    errors...
Maybe its better, in this case, constructing a menu that
contains only an unordered list (check out project7 menus, or stu
nichols css site for more examples). Updating the menu will be
simpeler and also with less chance of errors by users. You can open
such a file without any troubles in Contribute.

  • Error Message when trying to open PDF

    I keep getting this msg:
Adobe Reader could not open 'auction2015.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
I can't seem to open any attachments.

Firefox has its own built in PDF viewer, all bets are off. Well, it might work, but we don't know anything about it.
In in Safari, no - you must view the PDF - be looking at its pages to be able to save it.
You can also try a right click on the attachment, then a save - this often works and bypasses weirdness in the browser.

  • I receive the follwing error message when trying to open my ipod touch/itunes "the itunes libary.itlfile is lockedon  a lockdisk or you do not have write permission on this file. How do I resolve this problem?

I receive the follwing error message when trying to open my ipod touch/itunes "the itunes libary.itlfile is lockedon  a lockdisk or you do not have write permission on this file. How do I resolve this problem?

    Repair iTunes Security Permissions
Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Securitytab and click Advanced. Use the Change Permissions... button grant to your account (or the Users group) and SYSTEM full control of this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to Replace permissions entries... which will repair permissions throughout the library. When complete switch to the General tab, click in the Read-only check box to clear it, then click Apply.
If you don't have the option to change the permissions then use the Owner tab and Edit... button to take ownership from an account with administrator privileges. Tick the option to Replace owner on subcontainers and objects.
Repeat with the media folder if it isn't stored inside the main iTunes folder.
If you've brought over the library from another computer you may also want to remove any "mystery" identities (S<string of dashes & digts>) that have come over from the old computer...
The images above are from Windows 7. Hopefully the system isn't too different in Windows 8.

  • Why is there suddenly an error message when trying to download pdf documents online: "cannot export document"

Why am I recently receiving an error message when trying to download pdf documents from the web? The message reads: "cannot export document" I've updated Adobe and all software updates are current. The first indication of a problem was when I opened a pdf that I thought downloaded, but the file is blank. Now that doesn't even happen. Any help would be tremendously appreciated! Thank you, KB

I know man what your saying. I should have written it down when it happened last night. I figured if anyone had had the same issue they might know the reason. I'll try doing a test recording today and see if the same issue arises. Meanwhile, if anyone has this happen to them please let me know. Thanks

  • Error message when trying to open windows7 via vmwarefusion.

    error message when trying to open windows7 via vmwarefusion.;
Unable to open file "/Users/geraldw/Documents/Virtual Machines.localized/Windows 7.vmwarevm/Windows 7-000016.vmdk": The system cannot find the file specified.
I've completely uninstalled vmaware fusion. and would like to install a new copy of windows7 plus my vmware fusion3.0 that I have on a disk. I wonder if windows7 is still buried in my mac hard drive somewhere?  I can see some windows files on my mac but they appear a gray and can not be accessed. Could there be a problem installing a new copy of windows through boot camp?   It seems to do so wouldn't be a clean install as I suspect that windows 7 is still on the drive somewhere. I've tried to follow the path the file I listed above, but nothing comes up.  I'm almost certain  it was accidentally deleted completely from the hard drive as it was quarantined while using Clam X anti-virus. I'm a relatively new mac user and long time PC user, but a computer genius I am not. I don't want to have to reformat the whole mac machine and lose my current files, etc.
I've uninstalled vmare completely and reinstalled, it, but the problem persists.
    Any help?

You will probably get a better response asking this question in VMWare's forums for Fusion.
    Best of luck.

...iTunes.exe - Bad Image ...iTunes c:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Apple Apple Application Support\CoreADI.dll is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error .....
Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7,now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP,head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post. (If you've got XP, although the procedure is for Vista and 7, just read "Computer" as "My Computer", read "Uninstall a program control panel" as "Add or Remove programs control panel" and assume the system is 32-bit, and you'll be doing the right things.)

    Hi Ian.
Thank you for answering. But I find no such file in Preferences. I think Lightroom freezes before making the preference file. Other solutions?
