Error msg when connecting iphone to itunes 7.5

There is an error when I plug my iPhone in and open up iTunes. It says "We could not complete your itunes store request. The network connection timed out. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again." My internet works perfectly. iTunes store works fine. I'm able to search and buy any music from it. I don't know what's wrong!! I need to activate my iPhone asap and it won't let me. I've restarted my computer, deleted itunes several times, reloaded itunes and the same darn message appears each time.

im having the same problem and no one can help me!

  • Audiobooks lose their last location when connecting iPhone to iTunes

This is a major inconvenience when in the middle of many several hour audiobooks (m4b).
Tech support is no help and all they tell me is that they are looking into it. This has been happening for YEARS.
I guess I'm one of the few that listen to audiobooks because between this and podcasts tech support knows NOTHING about these functions. This is terrible as I have to load up as many audiobooks as I possibly can...and...listen to them all before attempting to add music, video, audiobooks or sync contact/calendar info with the computer.

Yes, it does work up until I sync the iPhone with iTunes. Then ALL the audiobooks are reset to the beginning. (Podcasts are nuked during this process as well by the way)
You can imagine just how frustrating it is when you are well into several books.
I dread connecting the phone to the computer because of this and what it does to my podcasts also.
Apple has had their best and brightest working day and night tirelessly on this for over a year. The poor schlubs that field the calls are repeatedly told by the "engineers" that they are working on it. When in reality, no one has a clue what is happening and they have even gone so far as to tell me that this undesired behavior is actually a feature.
I don't feel bad. Apparently I'm not the only one that has heard this explanation. I've heard others have also been told the same thing by Apple when something doesn't work as expected that it is a "feature." However, they didn't get a long story as I did as to why I should enjoy this particular feature.
    Nice huh?
Don't test your iPhone on my account. I wouldn't want you to experience the same frustration as I have. But...if you do, please let me know if it happens to you also.
    Thanks Katrina

  • Error message when syncing iPhone to iTunes

I've tried three times now to sync my iPhone with iTunes. The software is the most updated version, but each time I get an error message: "The iPhone cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (-50)." Too vague for me to figure anything out. Is this a problem on my end or is iTunes experiencing a temporary glich?

I'm having the same problem, except I used to have 12 GB of music on my iPhone that is now gone, and the same disc space now says "Other", but there is no music on the iPod. I've tried the 5 R's, is it a glitch? I didn't have this problem until I updated yesterday. Everytime I sync, it tells me there is not enough space to download the music. What is the "Other" category? I can't find any info on it at all. Also, I am NOT a computer guru, I'm a nurse, so be gentle!

  • Error message when connecting iphone

Every time I connect my iphone to my computer, a message comes up in itunes saying that it cannot read the content of my iphone and that I should restore it to factory settings. This didn;t used to happen...only within the last few months. I also just bought a new Macbook and the same message comes up when I try connecting it to that computer as well. The first time this occurred I clicked restore and noticed it deleted all my music, so i stopped it before it could delete everything else. Is the only way to resolve this to restore it to factory settings, and if so will all my applications and contacts be erased?

All data on your phone will be erased, and no, there is no way around this fact other than restore your phone as a new device. This shouldn't present a big problem, as all of your content should be in your iTunes library or in supported applications on your computer. If for some reason it's not, you've got problems. You'll have to use third-party software to extract this data from your phone first. But, there's no guarantee this will work if iTunes can't read the content of your phone:

  • Podcasts ALWAYS screwed up when connecting iPhone w/iTunes

Every time I connect my iPhone to the computer running iTunes the cover art and listened status are nuked. Cover are is erratically deleted and the previously played status is always removed.
iTunes is set up to not do anything with podcasts. However, in accordance with the advice of tech support reps, I have tried multiple variations to no avail.
Tech support throws up their hands and no kidding have actually told me that this is a "feature." No kidding, more than once.

  • Error message when connecting devices to itunes

Since the last OS update for iPad and iPhone, I've regularly recieved "Unknown error (-50)" on either my phone or my iPad. It happens to both, but usually not at the same time.
Do anyone know what this means? I just click "ok" and then there's no problem, but it is slightly annoying.

    Hello noraa311
If you are seeing an alert error about not being able to start the session, tends to be an issue with backing up. The article below will start you troubleshooting and resolving the issue.
