Error Opening JPG files in CS 5.1

As the title explains.  Can't open jpg files in CS 5.1  I have about 100 of these files that I access for a part time gig that are stored in the cloud.  Whenever I attempt to open these files I get the following error message which is attached.
Thanks and I hope I get some assistance.

That's not really an option seeing as though there are hundreds of files that I access on a daily basis.  Could it be possible that that something is wrong with my settings?  Other people can open them in my company

  • Error message: "Dreamweaver can't open .jpg files"

    I'm using DW 8, and I have installed the 8.0.2 update. I'm
having trouble inserting certain JPG images into a site. I get an
error message pop-up that states "Dreamweaver can't open .jpg
files". It will allow me to insert some jpg files, but not all of
them. I've tried drag & drop and going through the Insert menu.
The files are not large at all. Doesn't appear to be any problem
with png's or gif's. It's incredibly frustrating. Anyone have any
    suggestions? TIA.

    > why was i taught that all my web images need
    > to be in 72dpi if it doesn't really matter?
most people suggest 72 because it was an old standard with
    the early
macintosh DTP programs. For web use it's easier to
    standardize on it because
when you make an image, you have to put ~some~ number in the
    resolution box
and it might as well be 72 as any other number. It simplifies
    moving image
files around in different applications if they are all the
    same resolution.
For display in a browser, these will all have the same file
    size and display
    size in a web page:
    600x600 pixels at 1dpi
    600x600 pixels at 72dpi
    600x600 pixels at 6000dpi
It's when they are used in other applications or when a
    direct url like
/photos/1.jpg is printed out that they may display in the
    resolution, not
    the pixel dimension.
I came across a page once where the designer always saved his
    images with a
resolution of 6000 dpi or some other odd number because he
    thought that if
people dragged the image off the page to save it- most of
    them wouldn't be
able to resize it. or some other idiot reason maybe.

  • Opening .jpg files give an error

    Hi there,
some of our mac clients are having trouble opening JPG files in Photoshop. the problem occurs when they try to import them from bridge or open them directly from photoshop.
the error states: "Can not execute request because of a program error".
all of the users have fully updated Macs and fully updated Creative cloud.
the files are currently located on a DFS Share in a windows domain but copying the files locally doesnt seem to fix the issue.
    any help would be appreciated.

  • Cannot open jpg files in Preview? Error message "may be damaged or use a file format that preview does not recognize".

For some reason I cannot open jpg files from a co-worker who previosuly sent files without any problems.  I just bought a MacBook Air with OS X Lion & Preview won't open the files.  She sent the same files to another co-worker who opened without any issues?  Help!  Anyone have any suggestions after having the same or similar problem?

I don't have an answer as to why Preview doesn't want to cooperate, but if you only need to view the jpeg's and do nothing else to them, you can use two FREE applications that come already pre-installed on your Mac... Those are iPhoto and Safari. Just drag and drop over the application icon.
You can also find several FREE photo viewers in the APP STORE.

  • Opening jpg files

My Photoshow Elements 9 program selectively opens jpg files obtained by a digital microscope camera (it consistently opens only those pictures taken at 4X power and not those taken at 10X and 40X power). The camera providers were able to open all files with their Photshop CS 5.5 program, so they argue the problem comes from my photoshop. I already tried deleting the settings file but it did not solve it. How can I solve this?

Thanks for your prompt answer. I am opening the images through the Editor, using the tab File-Open. I then get a message window saying (translated from Spanish) "Cannot be fulfilled because there has been an error in the program".
I DO know the power of the microphotograph (4X, 10X, 40X) because I have them individually labeled and scaled. I just noticed that this varies with the day. Of photos made a few days back, the Editor only lets me open those of 40X power. ¡Weird!
I have been solving the problem by opening the photos from Powerpoint and saving them again as jpg. Then, Elements lets me open them OK and I process them fine! But it is an additional, time-consuming step and I want to avoid it.
The camera is an Amscope MU500, and uses a software called ToupView.

  • Can not open jpg files

    Can not open jpg files.
    They works on Windows
    Whats the problem?

Before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. With information, s/he may be able to get your issue resolved sooner.

  • Error opening video files: dynamiclinkmediaserver

Error opening video files: dynamiclinkmediaserver has encountered an error.
    ../../Src/directoryRegistry.cpp-283
It happens in any of the Adobe software I have installed: Bridge, Lightroom and Photoshop CS6 extended. Cannot work on video files and the software goes down and need to restart. running windows 7 64bit

I have uninstalled and reinstalled all my software of Adobe looking for a solution. After uninstall I have use the adoble cleaner with a sussessfully notice after finished. I have try some of the steps adviced here in some other forums with similar troubles but got unsuccess results. at this point I have reinstalled all my software of Adobe in Win7 64 bit: photoshop CS6 extended and Lightroom 4. In both applications find the same message error when opening video files and both applications works perfect with all other image files: tiff, jpg, raw...
for me its a weird situation that I have not found a clear answer to this problem if we think that I found other adobe users have previously noticed same or very similar experiences with the Dynamiclink Media Server and the "../../Src/directoryRegistry.cpp-283" error message.  Actually I wet to Adobe and tried to download the dynamiclink media server and install it manually and there is a failure message saying something that could not install it on this computer.....
The same problem happens having or not having installe the Adobe application Manager which is now CCloud, in both cases is unable to open video files and in both cases the application crashes and have to use Ctl+Alt+Supr to close the Adobe crashed software... before and after being reinstalled a fresh version of my adobe software.

  • [SOLVED] GIMP doesn't open .jpg files

Hello, I installed GIMP with pacman on my arch x64 and noticed it can neither open .jpg files nor save images as .jpg. First thing that came to my mind is that some codec or plugin is missing but I can't find anything. And as my image viewer is able to open .jpg files I think, it's a gimp specific problem. Hope you can help me.

  • Error opening fla file.

    Hi,
I am a relative newcomer to the world of Flash, so I apologize if this issue is a bit mindless for the veterans.
I am working with Flash CS6 on a Macbook Pro and recently encountered a problem when trying to open a file. An error message pops up, saying 'there was an error opening the file...'. No further details are available.
Looking at the file information, there is still data there, as the size is about 300MB.
I've tried some amateur sleuthing online for a solution, mostly involving changing the .fla extentsion to .rar and repairing the file that way, but nothing I have tried has resolved the issue.
Am I essentially out of luck, or is there a reliable solution for this kind of problem?
    Thanks for any help!
    Boots

Wow, thanks for such a quick reply, kglad.
I had actually previously zipped and unzipped the file and ended up with a folder full of stuff that I didn't know what to do with. Again, this is where my amateur understanding comes into play.
In the unzipped folder, there are 'bin', 'library' and 'meta-inf' folders, as well as a 'DOMDocument.xml' file, a 'MobileSettings.xml' file, a 'PublishSettings.xml' file and finally a file called 'mimetype'.
Should I be encouraged by this?
I'm pretty clueless at this point about how I might proceed from here. I see that the 'library' folder contains all the sound files for the project (it's a soundboard), but is there a way to go from this point to recovering the project as it was before this issue came up? Or am I stuck with starting the project all over gain?
    Thanks again for the help!

    Hi Marco,
as far as I know, you have to use the REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE = SHARED option in your init...ora file.
In this case you have one password file for one or more databases. It can only have the entries for SYS and INTERAL.
I'm sorry to cannot answer your question of having different password files for different databases %-)

What release of System Update are you trying to install? What OS are you using ie, win 7, 8, 8.1?
Did you really mean IMPORT failed (not export)?
Are your running the install . exec from a Network drive?
Please look in  C:\users\*your id*\appdata\local\temp for the msi install log and post 50 lines of the log around where the error occurred.
