Error opening PSE 11

I get an error when trying to open photoshop elements 11. It says a problem caused the program to stop working. Please close the program. It worked fine last week. I tried unistalling and reinstalling and that did not help. Any ideas??

See if steps listed on blog: http://psekb.blogspot.in/2013/04/pse-editor-is-not-launching-windows.html are helpful.
Please revert if your issue is not resolved.

  • ERROR Opening PSE 8 Organizer Freezes

After downloading files from my camera the Organizer opens and another window opens titled “Files Ready for Import”.
Clicking on YES or NO this window goes away and the Organizer stays busy and the application freezes. The Task manager has to be used to abort the PSE8 application. The files did get downloaded but the organizer does not seem to know what to do with them.

I do not find the"APDLogs" directory. Here is what I see...
Is there somewhere else to look?
Thanks for any help you can provide!
    !!!! WAIT !!!!
I just tryed it again and it seems to be working.
Is it possible that it could have cleared on it's own. I have used the editor in the meantime, without going through the Organizer, and now I open the organizer and it worked.
I am currently backing up the catalog.
Thanks for the magic you provided!

  • Trying to Open PSE 9 and get Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Error Message HELP please! :)

Everything worked fine until I paid and downloaded a program called Rad Lab that works in Photoshop Elements.  I got that downloaded and then tried to open PSE and it won't open and I keep getting this error message.
I've attached a screen shot of what the message is.  Also Adobe ran an update on my computer and it came up with an error message as well. Adobe Photoshope Elements 9.0.3. Update- "Patch cannot be applied. Please contact customer support"
So I called customer support and the wait time is over 1 hour so here I am on this forum trying to get some answers! If anyone can help I would appreciate it so much!!!
    Thanks!

Well, uninstall that RadLab thing, reboot and see if PSE then works.

  • PSE 9 suddenly will not open pse files - due to "program error"

The program was working fine yesterday and now suddenly will not open pse files created yesterday or today. The error message reads "could not complete action due to program error." Am I going to need to deactivate and reinstall - and if so, how do I do that? Will I lose all brushes loaded into presets, all files currently unable to be opened if I do that?

I have the same or at least similar issue - When try
ing to open a Photoshop Elements 9 slideshow I get this message
"This application has requested the Runtime
to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact
this application's support team for further assistance" I first saw this problem today - can't think of why now.  I've had the program since last Christmas.
I sure would like a solution as I'm in the midst of a project with it.

  • Cannot open PSE 10 Editor

When I want to edit an image by right clicking on it in the PSE Organizer I see that PSE is trying to open the editor, but after some seconds I get a message which, translated into English, reads: "Cannot continue because of a fatal device or system error".
Everything has worked well for more than a year, but some time ago I downloaded and installed en trial version of PSE 11. That also worked fine and with the same catalogue I use now, but I decided not to buy it. So I deinstalled PSE11 and wanted to go on using PSE10. But no, seems the trial brought me some  bad luck.
The problem is that where the organizer seems to work in as far as displaying the images and allowing tot mark and tag them, but my catalogue is not as it was. The tags and categories are mixed up and some have disappeared altogether. I used the repair function but after that it still does not work.
Wwhen I try to open PSE Editor directly I get the same error window.
Does anyone recognize this? (The chat with Adobe gave no solution, they don't deal with this kind of problem). I use Windows 8 Ultimate.

see if following these steps help uninstall and reinstall, http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html

  • Unable to open PSE icons in PSE9

I have PSE icons (JPG Files) in my Documents.  I click on the file in "Documents>open>"file folder number">open"  PSE 9 opens and I receive the message ("Could not complete your request because the file is locked.  Use the 'Properties' command in the Windows Explorer to unlock the file.")  When I try to open the same PSE icons, while PSE 9 is open, the message becomes ("Could not complete your request because of a program error.")  How do you get to the 'Properties' command in the Windows Explorer?  Also the file icons display as icons in the view column of Documents.

Thanks Ken, I have tried all of the above.  When I uncheck "encrypt
contents to secure data" I come to a dialogue box "Access Denied" "You will need
to provide administrator permission to change these attributes.  Click
Continue to complete this operation."   When I click Continue:  I  come to
another dialogue box.  "Error Applying Attributes:  an error  occurred applying
attributes to the file C:\Users\User  name|Docu...Number_Number.JPG,  Access
is denied."  I have 4  choices "Ignore, Ignore All, Try Again and/or
Cancel."  all of which  stop me in my tracks.  I have a Dell System and, I am not
sure  but, Dell may have some sort of prevention for me to go any further.
It may have something to do with the "Bit Blocker Drive  Encryption".

  • I still can't open PSE 11 since I purchased it weeks ago. Please help.

I'm posting this here too because I don't get a response from anyone anywhere. I purchased PSE 11 a few weeks ago and I have yet been able to even use it. I don't even know who can help me and I can't even find a phone number. I try to open PSE 11 and I get this error: Could not open a scratch file because the file could not be found.
I used to use PSE 2 and it was really simple. Open and go. But this new one doesn't even open. Please please help or let me know how I can seek help.

Now that you've copied the Preferences file from the other account to this one, does the behavior change, or do you get the same Scratch Disk error? You can try deleting (or renaming) the Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 Prefs file to force the Editor to recreate it. Also, the keyboard shortcut to reset preferences is Ctrl+Alt+Shift (not Ctrl+Shift+Del). On top of that, if you hold down just Ctrl+Alt, you can select your Scratch disk at launch.
Here is more information about where the Preferences files are stored: Preference file locations | Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements
This video also helps (it talks about Photoshop, but all the information applies to Photoshop Elements as well except for the change in file and folder names: How to Reset Photoshop CS6’s Preferences File | The Complete Picture with Julieanne Kost | Adobe TV
A Scratch Disk is temporary hard drive space that the Editor uses to hold information about the image(s) you are editing. This temp file gets created either in a temp folder or the root of the hard drive if a secondary hard drive is selected. Another possible source of the problem is that this user account has issues with access to the location where it is trying to create the Scratch Disk. File and Folder permissions, which control this access, is different for each user account. When you encounter a problem that occurs in one account but not another, you should take a look at this document: Troubleshoot unexpected behavior | User account-specific | Adobe software | Windows 7, Vista

Help, I had aperture open and working on a image and did not have a battery in and bumped the power off. As a result it will not open my master, it is locked. when I try to open that Library  it says There was an error opening the database for the library. I have tried every thing. I updated the other libr but now it will not open the main to update. What do I do?

Try starting Aperture with the command and option keys held down.  You'll get 3 options.
Try each, starting at the top, in order, checking after each to see if it fixes the issue.

  • When I attempt to open a PDF file I saved from a website, I get the message "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired." Is there any way to correct this problem?

When I attempt to open a PDF file I saved from a website using Safari, I get the message "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired." When I save the same PDF file using FireFox it opens up immediately. Is there any way to correct this problem with Safari?

    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

when I click on the PDF file in the email (Outlook 2010), Adobe opens but it pops a window "There was an error opening this document. Access denied". If I save the document as a file, aka to the desktop, I can open it then.

has anyone seen this issue. Desktop is using Windows XP, 4 gig ram, Adobe X verision 10.0.1

Did you try this?  It worked for me.
    http://www.darrenstraight.com/blog/2010/12/16/adobe-reader-x-there-was-an-error-opening-th is-document-access-denied/
    Open up Adobe Reader X
On the Toolbar Menu go to Edit > Preferences
Go to the general tab under Categories.
Untick “Enable Protected Mode at Startup”
If asked if sure, click Yes and then Ok.
Now close Adobe Reader X and try opening the PDF again.
