hey there...i just got ipod touch to replace my old 1 and somehow im getting problems on syncying musics...this happens on certain music...well most of my music anyway...it work fine on my other player but the ipod did not even work...i tried reboot it and such...

How to fix "Sync encountered an error while syncing:Unknown error."

In mid July, after the firefox update, I had decided to close firefox like I usually do before I open the client for my MMORPG Aion, so I did. I end up not turning on firefox for a few days and when I did my bookmarks were gone as well as my toolbar bookmarks and my history. I start to wonder what happened and then I realised that there was a grey bar at the bottom of my browser stating, "Sync encountered an error while syncing: Unknown error. Sync will automatically retry this action.." I had no idea why this would happen as I never had this problem before so I look at the firefox support database but since I'm quite the greenhorn when it comes to programming there was only so much I could understand. I did try looking for corrupt or locked profiles but I saw none. Now as of today it's going on 2 months since the problem began and just today I recieved the firefox 32.0 update but still have this problem so I'm at my wits end and I not sure if I'll ever get it working again. Also my sync account is the one under the new system I had updated a few days before the problem began it also seems to be working on my other devices. Im lost without my bookmarks please help.

Bookmarks vanished on multiple computers.
Error message on all platforms: Sync encountered an error while syncing: Unknown error.
Android device seems unaffected. Attempts to re-sync good data from android device have no effect.
I filed a bug report but after over 15 days it was marked as a duplicate and rolled into another bug report.
The solutions there are way (WAY) beyond my technical level of expertise, and look to be for the unix OS.
Something about a corrupt root.
I've been very reluctant to clear my sync data, because the impression I get is that I'll lose all my bookmarks. The entire reason I started using Sync was to back them up!

If you've lost bookmarks then you should make a backup copy of the JSON backups in the bookmarkbackups folder.

Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Are you syncing photos to the ipod? If so, the -39 in this context can sometimes indicate a damaged photo cache. Are you able to sync if you delete your existing photo cache? To find it, see the following document:

I want to switch from Chrome to Firefox but I have an issue with the Sync feature.
It always shows the following error: "Sync encoutered an error while syncing: Unknown error. Sync will automatically retry this action."
I already tried this workaround but it did not work: delete my Sync account, completely reset my Firefox profile, import my Chrome bookmarks (using an HTML file), setup a new Sync account (using the same address email then the previously deleted one).
But I still get the error message.
I've seen in other threads that it could be an issue with the history so I also tried to delete it but it did not work either.

I've finally found a solution to that Sync issue:
I downloaded the "Places Maintenance" add-on and run the integrity check routine and it seems to have fixed the issue.

I just started working on a 64 bit Windows 7 machine running Firefox 5 and am constantly getting the following Sync error: "Sync encountered an error while syncing: Unknown error. I have a screen shot but no where to send it to? The error says (and it's been repeated multiple times) Sync encountered an error while syncing: Unknown error. Sync will automatically retry this action BUTTON: Sync Now" Clicked button multiple times over an hour... no use. :) (hope this helps)

For 2 days now, I have received a message at the bottom of my browser stating "Sync encountered an error while syncing: Unknown error. Sync will automatically retry this action." The syncing doesn't work anymore. This message is displayed at the bottom all the time:

Retrying doesn't help.

I had some luck doing the following - Go to https://account.services.mozilla.com/ and login using your sync info. Find the link to Clear Cache data and clear your sync cache (first time failed, then worked). Then do a manual sync to get back in sync. Seems to have cleared up my issue for the time being.

I am trying to connect to the site - https://login.salesforce.com/?ec=302&startURL=%2F5003000000EIhFk and i just cannot login. the site is accessible, but could not log in and I have this error in the status area on the bottom - Firefox Sync encountered an error while syncing: Unknown error

I think I managed to fix this.
Go to [https://account.services.mozilla.com/ your sync account], log in, and click clear your sync data.
Then click the Sync now button on the error message.
The error went away for me.

"Sync encountered an error while syncing: Unknown error. SYnc will automatiall retry this action" - this error message keeps popping up

Note: I just tried deleting and re-creating my Sync account, reinstalling firefox, and deleting places.sqlite, with no success. And "Eooro" from the title is supposed to be "Error".

Sync unknown error 1140

I am trying to sync my iMac to my iPad 3 and I get an error message Cannot sync unknown error 1140.

I reveiwed the albums I had named in iPhoto and found one with a "&" and one with a "/" in the title. I changed those to an "_" and the ipad synced fine.

Cold boot the PC. Turn of all virus checkers and firewalls.
Install the DM and configure for Outlook 2003.
On the BB:
Pull the battery while the device is ON, replace after a minute, Let the device reboot 1-3 min,
Start the DM and plug the BB into the USB.cable
Sync.
