Error:target not found

I installed archlinux using VirtualBox on Ubuntu 10.10
After installation when I try to install sudo using pacman I get an error
error:could not open file /var/file ....
error:target not found

Is this the exact error message? If not, please post the exact one.
Is /var mounted? Is there some space on it? Does the /var/file ... exist? Do you have problems with just sudo - can you install other packages?

  • Error target not found base-level failed to install the packages

Im trying to install arch on my Virtualbox VM and its just returning:
error target not found base-level failed to install the packages to new root
What do I do? I have selected the right mirrors, pinging google, my own VPS's and a few other servers and they all pinged fine. Any ideas on whats up? Think my VPN's IP has been blocked and thats why I cant download anything? I have tried pacman -Ssy and it worked fine but still no.

Please read the following and follow the advice included:

With that, be sure to clarify whether the typo was just here on the forum, or whether it was also in your original command.  If it was in your original command, that would explain your results.

  • Error: target not found: package-query =1.0 although I have it

I used to work on Arch but it was installed for me by a friend, now I decided to install it on my own and it was a success! But when I tried installing yaourt it didn't work. I know that it needs package-query so I installed it, but when I try to build yaourt it fails..
    [clairka@clairka yaourt]$ makepkg -s

So I tried to rebuild package-query
    [clairka@clairka package-query]$ makepkg -s
==> ERROR: A package has already been built. (use -f to overwrite)
Even if I use -f to overwrite I get always the same output. Does anybody know how to fix this? I was really used to use yaourt to install packages from AUR. Thanks.

Just so you know, a bug is typically not something that only you experience.  I just want to ensure that you aren't filing bug reports for things that are only occuring on your machine and not a systemic issue within the utility itself.

  • [SOLVED] error: target not found Skype

Hello everyone I am trying to install Skype on Arch Linux x64 and I am getting the message when I try to do a sudo pacman -S skype "error: target not found skype". I edited my pacman.conf file to allow multilib but I am still not able to install the package. I also ran a sudo pacman -Syu and pacman -Syyu with no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please post your pacman.conf for review - that is after you check the most common error in this: did you uncomment the line "[multilib]"?  The first version below is correct, the second is a very common mistake:
    [multilib]

    #[multilib]
    Include = /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist
Yup that ended up being the issue, I can't believe I didn't think to uncomment the "#" from multilib haha. Thanks again!

  • [SOLVED] error: target not found: lib32-sdl

    Pacman can't seem to find "lib32-sdl" but it's there... http://www.archlinux.org/packages/?sort … =&limit=50

This morning Pacman asked to be updated before I could run a system-wide update. Maybe that had something to do with it ?
Solution: I'm running Arch i686 and "lib32-*" is for the x86_64 version.

  • [SOLVED] error: target not found: from multiple applications

I wanted to install skype on my fresh arch OS. I tried with
    sudo pacman -S skype
    but I got:
    error: target not found: skype
. Even though I can find skype here: https://www.archlinux.org/packages/mult … _64/skype/ on the arch website, I can't find it with pacman -S. This would be also a question ...
I downloaded the x86 package for my system, and used
    sudo pacman -U skype-4.2.0.11-3-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
    , but ... I got this:

I said ... ok, I will probably install pidgin, and install some kind of skype plugin, but now ... I tried to install teamviewer from AUR, with this command
    sudo yaourt teamviewer
I choosed the second package which is the original teamviewer package not some kind of plugin, but ... I got this:
    ==> Edit teamviewer.install with: nano
    ==> Continue building teamviewer ? [Y/n]

    error: target not found: lib32-gcc-libs
    error: target not found: lib32-libxtst
    ==> Restart building teamviewer ? [y/N]
I am pretty sure there is a solution for this ... because I don't want to sit all day, trying to install an application.
    Waiting for your suggestions guys.
PS: I've also tried to install for example, for skype, the lib32-qt4 library, but it's already installed, don't know what's happening.

multilib is enabled from /etc/pacman.conf, but it's still the same. Also, as mentioned I got this error also with teamviewer not only skype, and I will probably get it another 1000 of times, since I tried to install only 5 applications until now

The systemd build hook looks like this:

    # systemd

    hmm
it all looks ok to me
what happens if you try to access an image or something in your war (ie
              something not java related)
also - i have seen on some machines that localhost doesnt work but 127.0.0.1
              does work
your app should be trying to access index.jsp which should be in the root
              directory of your war
does index.jsp exist and is it in the root directory of your war?
lastly - i noticed you have a startup servlet. Put a system.out in the init
method of the servlet. If the servlet is being deployed OK then you should
see some output in the console

  • Error "Account not found" in Catalog

    Hi All!
I have a problem with the catalog of OBI EE.
When connecting to multiple users showed the error "Account not found".
I've located the "Catalog Manager" accounts whose permits were <delete Account>. I deleted those accounts and have been fully rebuilt. These accounts are already functioning.
But to connect to the "Presentation" with the manager and access the option "Manage users and groups" by clicking the link "Show users and groups," again gives the error "Account not found". The log shows:
An error occurred during execution of "connect". No connection could be made Actively Because the target machine refused it.

    Any ideas?
    Regards.

When you log in into presentation services as administrator, you can still see these users in the user list? You have to delete them not only via the catalog manager, but also overthere.
    And restart your services once...
    Hope it helps.

  • First Page -Error 404--Not Found

    Hi All,
I started learning ADF recently, I have created EO,VO,AM. My Jdev version is 11.1.1.3.0.
I tested with BC4J Tester everything is working fine.
But when I create JSF page and say Run I am getting the following error in the internet explorerer browser.
    Error 404--Not Found
From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
    10.4.5 404 Not Found
This is the first time i am trying to run the page. could any one please let me know what are the setting i need to do,In Order to view my page.
    Thanks
    Kumar.

So first make sure the page is NOT under the web-inf folder (as John correctly stated) and then dragyour page onto the adfc-config.xml file. The the page gets hopefully registered.
If not drag a new view from the component palette onto the adfc-config.xml, give the view a name like 'TestMyApp' (don't let the name end in '.jspx'), create the page (double click on the icon) and put something onto the page.
Then you can change the view controllers project properties and select run/debug select the default run configuration and edit it. Under 'launch settings' select the adfc-config.xml as target, uncheck the 'attempt to Run Active...' and now select 'ADF Task Flow' in the left hand side tree. Now you select the newly created view TestMYApp and save your changes.
When you now run the app using the menu run (or debug) command, your app starts with the selected page 'TestMyApp'.

set until sequence 59;You want to restore/recover up to sequence 58, the given number in until sequence nnn is always not included. So the backed up datafiles are simply too new, backup was done while current sequence is 60.
You need an older backup, which is obviously not available.

  • Target not found for some stuff, Multilib enabled and updated

    ------Skipable----
Hey everyone, I've got a problem that I just can't seem to solve. Basically I have a youtube channel with almost 20,000 subs where I look at different operating systems (not going to mention it's name here since that's advertisement). All my videos feature heavy editing and look at each operating system in a repetitive manner so I decided to do a new side project on a new channel.
The idea for my new channel/series "Adventures in Arch Linux" is as follows:
"Adventures in Arch Linux is a series that lets you experience me going from a minimal Arch Linux installation to a bloated installation full of software with heaps of desktop customizations and well... Everything! Everything you see is unscripted, unplanned and uncut. This means that every failure, success and reaction I make throughout the journey will be on camera and captured within each episode. I will be taking suggestions in each episode of what software I should add to arch Linux and try out on camera so you can see my unacted first impressions of all available software for Arch Linux."
    ------End Skipable----
The issue however I found was that I was constantly running into problems and by the time I finished filming my first 50 minute episode I realized what a mess the video was and feel like I've completely failed. I managed to install LXDE as the desktop environment but I was unable to download and install any screen recorders. I tried typing "sudo pacman -S vokoscreen" but nup, Target not found. I tested and saw that inkscape worked but none of the screen recorders and quite a bit of other software just gave me "Target not found".
I researched stuff like multilib and enabling that but it still didn't work. I just don't know what to do The first episode (0) is just a disaster (unless you call an arch noob stumbling around trying to figure out how to do stuff in arch without a screen recorder a good video)... I'm at a lose as to what I should do.
Do any of you know what went wrong? You can see where this error happened a little after 35:10 in this video where I first started talking about installing vokoscreen. (Note that I am really embarrassed about how badly this video turned out): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSCQwCEGrlk

Hey, welcome to Arch and the forums.  I applaud your willingness to explore Arch.  Giving your mother a base install of arch without anything was just mean   Here are some thoughts that might help with your new video series.
    1. Arch has a bit of a learning curve.  Nothing is setup.  I repeat, nothing is setup.  All packages are vanilla or as close to vanilla.  This means, you will need to restrategize your approach in making a video while you explore.  Why do I say this?  Because most of the time you will be reading the wiki in learning how things work through concept explanations or command explanations.  Your challenge is to capture your unscripted response but make it fun for the viewer.
    2. How about you get your feet wet first.  If you don't understand what the difference is between pulling a package via pacman from the arch repos vs pulling through the AUR (arch user repository), I'm taking a wild guess that your feet are very dry.  Maybe record yourself as you are doing but do some major cutting.  For example, keep all these video journals of yourself setting up your system and at the end you can show off a 'bloated' environment.  Then transition to "it wasn't pretty getting to this phase, here are some scenes of my frustration" and then show where you failed.  I'm just tossing out ideas here.  On a side note, learn how to install packages from AUR manually without a aur helper.  It will help in the long run.
    3. Use the forum search feature as well as reading the wiki.  I'm sure I read some good threads on here that were full of suggestions to new comers in understanding arch.  As a test run, maybe search for it?
    4. Read the forum etiquette and ask smart questions.  Arch is my first full-time distro and boy, I learned heaps from these forum guys/gals.  They are also bad ass when it comes to bad forum etiquette. Rightfully so.
    Edit: added 'gals'.

  • DADs on WLS 11g (version 10.3.6.0) do not work (Error 404--Not Found)

Actually we use Application Server 10g (version 10.1.2.3.0) for different Forms 10g Applications (roundabout 1000 Forms) and want to change to Forms 11g and Weblogic Server 11g (version 10.3.6.0). A Test-Application on the Weblogic Server works fine, but DAD’s do not work at all.
In Enterprise Manager 10g i can configure DADs within the GUI of the Enterprise Manager, where i can see, if a connection could be established or not.
In Enterprise Manager 11g Fusion Middleware Control this doesn't seem to exist anymore, so i tried to configure the DADs manually, but something has to be wrong or missing, because there is no connection to the database and the following error appears:
    Error 404--Not Found
From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
    10.4.5 404 Not Found
The server has not found anything matching the Request-URI. No indication is given of whether the condition is temporary or permanent.
If the server does not wish to make this information available to the client, the status code 403 (Forbidden) can be used instead. The 410 (Gone) status code SHOULD be used if the server knows, through some internally configurable mechanism, that an old resource is permanently unavailable and has no forwarding address.
I added several DAD’s to /opt/oracle/product/Middleware/asinst_1/config/OHS/ohs1/mod_plsql/dads.conf like this:

The passwords were obfuscated with dadTool.pl and the http-Server restarted with /opt/oracle/product/Middleware/asinst_1/bin/opmnctl restartproc process-type=OHS
The files /opt/oracle/product/Middleware/asinst_1/config/OHS/ohs1/mod_plsql.cache.conf and /opt/oracle/product/Middleware/asinst_1/config/OHS/ohs1/moduleconf.plsql.conf were left unchanged.
Our Test-Application generates the following link
    'http://172.106.2.7:9001/pls/jddevdev/B_ARCHIVE.P_ARCHIVE_VIEW?docfid=200'
that seems to be ok, because when i replace IP and port with our old IAS it works fine, but the WebLogic Server generates the above mentioned error.
To get some more information i searched an error_log in /opt/oracle/product/Middleware/asinst_1/diagnostics/logs/OHS/ohs1 but there isn’t any.
I used the following Documentation for configuring the DADs which is for HTTP Server 11g Release 1 (version 11.1.1), because I could not find one for version 10.3.6.0:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/web.1111/e10144/under_mods.htm#i1055269
So probably there are differences between configuring version 10.3.6.0 and version 11.1.1 and so something is wrong configured or missing...
Thank you in advance for your help

    Hi Raj,
it is a Sparc Solaris 10
    and yes that's my enviorment.
After some more tests it's seems it's not a real bug but no realy nice working solution.
Eclipse uses for all instances the same secure storage, where OEPE also saves the password.
And if I look right the pasword was saved without the user context, so if you use an other user he takes the same password from the old user.
and I doesn't know how do OEPE check the connection in reality or only reply the last failed login message.
After deleting the complete secure storage and test it again with the juno version it works well.
