Error using Combine Files Function

I'm running Acrobat Standard Ver. 8 and I've got >150 .rtf files that need to be converted into a single pdf file.  Using the combine files utility when it tries to open the files, it gives me a protection error, ie, "please make sure you have read access to the file".  I get the same errors with Word documents.  I created these files and can access them just fine with Word.  Any suggestions?  My IT people are stumped.
Thanks for the help.

I think the Combine feature is designed for files that are already pdfs. You can convert entire folders into pdfs simulataneously then use the combine function.

  • How to use trigger file functionality in File Adapters - Match file names

    Hi,
    I am using trigger file functionality in File adapters to pick up data files as:-
    <property name="TriggerFilePhysicalDirectory" value="/pub/Dev/eastern/brs/"/>
    <property name="TriggerFile" value="*.trg"/>
    Here any file with .trg extension is taken as a trigger file and File adapter randomly picks up one of the data files.
    My requirement is that the trigger file will be of the same name as that of the data file like:- <data_file>.data <data_file>.trg
    How to implement this feature using trigger file functionality of File adapters??

    The trigger file is any file that indicates(triggers) that the actual data file has been put in ftp location, i.e- determines the state when data file should be read.
    This helps usually when a large data file is being transferred and at that incomplete state the FTP adapter tries to read it(which is not desirable)
    It is configured when you create the ftp adapter service in your process(in wizard) or u can manually configure that in the JCA file for the FTP Adapter service as below:-
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <adapter-config name="FlatStructureIn" adapter="File Adapter" xmlns="http://platform.integration.oracle/blocks/adapter/fw/metadata">
    <connection-factory location="eis/FileAdapter" UIincludeWildcard="*.txt" adapterRef=""/>
    <endpoint-activation operation="Read">
    <activation-spec className="oracle.tip.adapter.file.inbound.FileActivationSpec">
    <property.../>
    <property name="*TriggerFilePhysicalDirectory*" value="/tmp/flat/ArchiveDir"/>
    </activation-spec>
    </endpoint-activation>
    </adapter-config>

  • Error using custom xpath function with XSL transformations in BPM

    Hi,
    We have created a custom xpath function for use with SOA Suite and BPM. This has been built as per specified within the http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E29597_01/dev.1111/e10224/bp_appx_functs.htm#SOASE11100. We have also reviewed the Oracle Sample for mapper-107-ExtensionFunctions (sample demonstrates the use of user-defined extension functions). This has been registered with jDeveloper and SOA within the oracle.soa.ext_11.1.1 (run ant to include in oracle.soa.ext.jar)
    We ideally want to use this is BPM within an xsl. However when consuming this function is either BPEL or BPM using an xsl, the xsl fails with an error such as:
    XPath expression failed to execute. An error occurs while processing the XPath expression; the expression is ora:doXSLTransformForDoc("xsl/Transformation_1.xsl", $inputVariable.payload). The XPath expression failed to execute; the reason was: javax.xml.transform.TransformerException: oramds:/deployed-composites/default/gwCustomXpathUtil_rev1.0/xsl/Transformation_1.xsl<Line 9, Column 113>: XML-22043: (Error) Extension function error: Method not found 'getWeekDayDate'. Check the detailed root cause described in the exception message text and verify that the XPath query is correct.
    In an Assign it operates fine and returns the expected result. We have included a combination of both of the Config files (ext-mapper-xpath-functions-config.xml and ext-soa-xpath-functions-config.xml) in the META-INF folder, however neither allow the use of this function in the XSL.
    I believe there may be an issue getting the custom xpath functions within XSL files. Hence I have also raised an SR. Has anyone experiences of this?
    Our SOA / BPM suite environment is using 11.1.1.6.4 and has the following patches applied:
    13801175
    14406487 (11.1.1.6.4 SOA Bundle)

  • File conversion error when combining files

    Hello,
    I am using Adobe Create to combine several files (both word and pdf) into a single pdf document.  I have done this several times in the past with no problems.  However today it won't allow me to combine any documents which are already in pdf format.  The system generates an error for each of these documents as: "Conversion Failed".  I am clearly not trying to convert them, but rather to combine them...  Any ideas?

    Hi gina_hall_7848,
    If you're combining both Word and PDF files into PDF, there is some conversion happening (with the Word docs, as they're converted into the combined PDF file). If you're getting the error when combining only PDF files--that's another story. It could be that one or more of the files that you're combining isn't in a supported format, or that Adobe PDF Pack is timing out before it can complete the conversion.
    Does the error occur regardless of what files you try to combine?
    Best,
    Sara

  • File upload from form using cf8 file functions within cfscript?

    essentially, i'm wondering if anyone can give me an example
    of a way to replicate cffile upload using cf8's native file
    manipulation functions within a cfscript tag?
    more specifically, i am wondering if anyone had any code
    examples for uploading a file specified by a user on an html form
    using cf8's file functions (fileOpen, fileCopy, fileDelete,
    fileMove, fileClose, etc....) within a cfscript tag. i've done this
    a number of times in the past using upload through cffile, but i'd
    like to take advantage of cf8's new native file functions and be
    able to deploy the code within a cfscript block.
    i've found some simple examples of the file functions within
    the docs and online, but nothing showing me how to take a file from
    an html form and upload it where i want it, as cffile will do.
    thanks in advance for any help.

    those cf8 file functions are for manipulating files on the
    server.
    you still need to upload the file in one way or another.
    as for replicating cffile action=upload in cfscript: just
    write a
    function that uses cffile tag to upload a file, and call that
    function
    from your cfscript!

    Hasan
    XSL has many native string manipulation functions so you do not need to use our SQL functions when a native XSL one will do:
    <?if:substring(normalize-space(../fsg:ColContext[2]/fsg:ColHeadLine2),1,3)='SEP'?>September<?end if?>
    See that dang normalize space function again ... had to use it on my FSG sample.
    Would it not be easier to either:
    1. Have the FSG generate the September YYYY format or
    2. Have FSG generate XSD date formats, 'YYYY-MM-DD', then you can just specify the date format in the form fields

  • Combine Files Function Fails

    when trying to combine files, the process seems to work, but utlimately "Conversion Failed" message flashes.  Any ideas why?

    Thanks for the reply. Actually, there was some issue with the "context menu" commands that occured during the last update. I called Adobe Customer Service and they fixed it by remotely accessing my computer. The also gave me a link which tells how to fix this if it happens in the future. I've copied it below just in case this happens to someone else. But thanks again for your reply!

  • Error using the XPath function id()

    I am using BDBXML 2.2.13. When I submit the following query the execution fails because of the following failed assertion on line 681 of DbXmlNodeImpl.cpp.
    collection('test.dbxml')id(/site/people/person[@id='person1']/watches/watch/@open_auction)
    DBXML_ASSERT(nt->getInterface(DbXmlNodeTest::gDbXml) != 0);
    The failure does not happen if the arguments passed to id are constant, for example the following query works just fine:
    collection('test.dbxml')id('person0')/name
    The problem seems to be that the function arguments are represented by Pathan objects instead of DbXml objects that are cast back and forth when using the different interfaces.
    Is this a know bug in the database or is my query not properly formated?

    DB XML 2.2.13 is quite old now. Does that same problem occur with DB XML 2.3.10?
    Using the id() function is not going to do what you want it to anyhow, since DB XML does not provide typing information for the XML tree. You'll need to use conventional navigation to get the node that you want.

    Hi,
    Check the paths - seems like you have a combination of forward slashes and back slashes in the pathnames..
    D:\HFMBACKUP\/LOAD.ctl and
    D:\HFMBACKUP\/PCONS/Loads/BK_FINST-2009_Thu-20-Jan-2011_14-52-24.TX for example have combination '\/' after HFMBACKUP.
    cheers

  • Flash Error When Combining Files

    In Acrobat XI Pro, when combining two or more PDFs in to a single file, i recieve and error to say to view the content i must download flash.  Ive checked and we are running the latest version.
    The OS on the device is Windows 8.1 and it is patched for the latest version of flash inside the OS, even when trying to go to the link provided it just says that it is already installed.  Thanks

    Hi reddamo,
    Adobe Acrobat no longer bundles a Flash Player for the purpose of rendering Flash technology content within the pages.
    For this, you need to use a separate Flash Player. Please refer this kb file to download the Flash Player:
