Error using sqlplus when not oracle
I've been able to duplicate this same problem on two machines
running RedHat 6.0. Everything works great when I call the
Oracle binaries as oracle. Any other user priduces the following
errors.
[jkinney@hal jkinney]$ echo $ORACLE_HOME

I've had the exact same thing happen. I expected that
LD_LIBRARY_PATH would have taken care of this.
Anyways, the following commands worked for me:
(as root)
# cd /usr/lib
# ln -s /u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.5/lib/libskgxp8.so .
# ln -s /u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.5/lib/libobk.so .
# ln -s /u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.5/lib/libjox8.so .
Replace the /u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.5 above with the
ORACLE_HOME on your system.

How do I add an offline translation to the Bible app to use it when not connected to a network?
You will need to contact the developer of the app and ask if that is possible. If not, you'll need to look for another app that doesn't require a network connection to function.

NFL Mobile App Used Data When Not Open
I used the NFL Mobile App last night for the first time. I connected to my WIFI thinking it wouldn't use any data. But it did anyway. And then during the night when the app was closed it used a whole lot of data on its own. I have notifications turned off. Why should this be using data when not open? And why should it be using data when on WIFI?
To have to go to settings, apps, find the app and then force stop is
a lot of steps just to stop an app. Not really an acceptable solution.
However, I re-installed the app. Opened it to make sure it worked ok. Made
sure my WIFI was on during all this. Then went to apps and did a force stop.
Took several tries to get it to stop for some reason. Later I noticed my phone
seemed to be using a lot of battery for some reason. Re-booted phone to make
sure all apps had closed. Went back in and checked the NFL app. It was no
longer stopped. I force stopped it again. Took several tries. Waited a few minutes
and checked again. It was no longer stopped. For some reason it won’t stop. So
I had to un-install it again.
Not sure why all this is happening with this particular app, but I can’t take the
chance of inadvertent data or battery usage. So it will remain un-installed until
someone tells me the problem has been fixed. It’s a shame as since this is one
of the perks of my Verizon account, I feel I have been slighted. I can’t believe I’m
the only one having this issue.

Phone is using data when not in use. How do I make it stop?
My iPhone 4S is using data when not in use. Any thoughts on how to make it stop?
Hello Oakleymp
You could always turn off cellular data in Settings to get it to stop using data while it is on standby. Another option to troubleshoot the issues is to reset all settings, go to Settings > General >Reset > Reset All Settings.

Errors using DBMS_SQLTUNE Advisors for Oracle 10g
I get errors trying to tune the below query for Oracle 10g using the DBMS_SQLTUNE advisors.
It happens when I wrap either a large block of PL/SQL code that uses bind variables or multiple nested subqueries with multiple JOIN conditions in a SELECT query statement that I wish to tune using the 10g SQLTUNE advisors.

benprusinskiHi, I was trying to use the DBMS_SQLTUNE package to tune my sql statements used in the huge procedure. I can successfully create a task and execute it. But when I run report tuning task, I'm always getting error like the one in below example. Two questions I have now.
1) Is this becuase I'm using bind, but not passing any values?
2) Can I able to use to this package to tune a procedures instead of sql statement?
Example output...

Check weather entries are there in the registry.
Go to the services in the control panel and see if the oracle service has started if not start it. If this is up then the registry is OK. if If not u can create it using the oradim utility.
Then set your oracle_sid = <dbname> in the dos prompt and try connecting again.

Error using "Microsoft ODBC for Oracle" driver
I am trying to connect to Oracle 10g Express Edition from Access 2003 on Windows XP. I created a DSN using "Microsoft ODBC for Oracle" driver. When I try to connect using ADO, I get this error:

I googled this error and got a lot of hits but no solution.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am new to Oracle and am coming from SQL Server 2000.

ORA-21700 error using sys.xmlType in Oracle 9.2
I'm working on an application which uses the XMLType column in some of its database tables. When we started, we were using Oracle 9.0.1, and this test code works (which emulates how we have to, in some occasions, populate the XMLType column).
However, we installed Oracle 9.2.0.3 on the same machine and created database instances using this version of Oracle. We didn't upgrade the original 9.0.1 installation (which still exists side-by-side). When we run this code, we get the following exception...

Does this mean that, for a table to use an XMLType column, it has to have a single schema definition for every row in the table?
This won't fit for what we're doing.... that is, our table stores XML data for each row, but they are all different types of XML... they don't have the same structure, they don't use the same schema.
Please let me know if I'm missing something -

Certain apps use battery when not running
I had noticed on my 3G, and potentially on my 4, that after installing certain apps, the battery goes down much quicker, without using the apps, or even the phone.
I realise that certain apps do, by the nature of what they do, use more juice, but felt that even when they are not even used?
2 apps that def sucked the life out of my phone, so i uninstalled where:
the trainline app
and
Nextbuses app
both in the UK. Can't explain why.
Any one else found this? It's a shame since NExtbuses was really handy.Yes, When you turn on bluetooth you fire up another radio. That radio periodically searches for things to connect to. If you turn it off, your battery will last longer. Not sure if you'll notice the difference. I had a Motorola phone which could go an extra full day or two with Bluetooth off.
If you use bluetooth, as I do, to automatically connect to your car when you get in, shutting it off is not a convenient option. If you rarely use it, then shut it off when not in use. -

JDriver error using WLS6.1 w/ Oracle 8.1.7
Hello,I am getting the error listed when starting my weblogic server after creating a connection pool and datasource through the weblogic (6.1) console. Also you don't have to have any additional 5.1.0 oracle kit here. WLS6.1
bundles the oracle drivers and the necessary libraries. can you check if
your path is pointing to the right bin folder for the 817 libraries.

Thank you for your quick reply, Sree. Unfortunately, both the clientversion of
oracle and the classes12.zip that ships with that version are correct.
In
addition,
the service name is in the tsnames.ora file.
What is puzzling is that we used this same connectionpool/datasource/oracle/weblogic
configuration when running weblogic 6.0sp1 with no errors. The only
thing
that
has changed in our configuration is that we upgraded to weblogic 6.1.
Any other thoughts?
Thanks again in advance!

Error using pretrigger when capturing more than one channel
I am having problems acquiring data with pretrigger samples when capturing more than one channel, using NI-PXI-6071E hardware and Labview's Analog Input VIs (Legacy NI-DAQ).
My goal is to trigger on one signal, while capturing another. Unfortunately, I cannot use the PFI0 for external triggering, as our cables/hardware have already been built, so I must use an analog input channel as the trigger. I understand that to do so I must capture both channels, and the channel that I wish to trigger off of must be the first channel in the list.
If I trigger and capture on the same channel (tried 1-4) then it
works great, regardless of the number of pre-trigger samples set. If I
capture more than one channel (passing the trigger channel first), with no pretrigger samples set, then triggering and capturing both work fine. However, if I do the same with the pretrigger sample > 0 I get the following error:
Error -10621 occurred at AI Control. Possible reason(s):
NI-DAQ LV: The specified trigger signal cannot be assigned to the trigger resource.
I don't se any such limitation explained in the user manual, and searching the forum, I have found a few other people that had the
same
problem
but they did not have solutions. Any ideas?
Solved!
Go to Solution.I'm sorry for double-posting this. I was trying to post it in the DAQ board and it kept ending up on the LabView board.
