Error When Trying to Restore from iTunes Backup

I had to erase and re-install the operating system. I thought I had iTunes covered by burning an iTunes backup to a CD, but when trying to restore iTunes from the CD it will restore a few songs and then give an error message that it was unable to read or write to my hard drive. I looks as though it restored the music that I owned and put on the computer but not the tunes I had purchased from the iTunes store and not the playlists. I did not know enough to burn the /music file. Is there anything I can do to get the burned CD to restore?

Contacts are not part of the backup. They are seperate and either you need to sync them with an email program such as outlook or use icloud mail, contacts, and calendars on the phone. Unless you did that then the contacts are gone.

    Hey jtom234412,
Thanks for the question. Based on the information you have provided, it sounds like your device is not detected in iTunes for Windows. The following resource may help resolve this issue:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1538
Furthermore, if your device is in recovery mode (displaying an iTunes symbol, with a plug), see the relevant information under Step 5.
    Thanks,

  • Daughter's touch went blank again and while trying to restore from itunes backup screen keeps tellin me to connect to itunes.  am connected and updated

My daughter's touch has gone blank and has no apps or music or photos on it.  This has happened before and i was able to get most of data back on.  This time, when i choose restore from itunes backup, touch keeps telling me to connect to itunes.  i am connected and updated and using a different cable and have tried shutting it off and on.  Help she needs it for a class trip tomorrow morning, is 13 and extremely moody!

  • Old Apple ID email/password when trying to restore from iCloud backup

I've seen variations of this question being asked previously, but I haven't seen any real solutions provided (or any that have worked).
About a year or so ago, I changed the primary email on my Apple ID from an old email address I rarely-to-never use anymore.  Ever since then, when I try to upgrade a device or restore from back-up, I get asked to enter the password from my old email address.  Since I this is no longer the address I use, even if I enter the password for my current Apple ID, it says it's incorrect and won't let me proceed any further.  I have tried re-adding this email to my Apple ID account (doesn't work), I've tried making that email my primary Apple ID again (doesn't work and causes the same issue to occur with restoring apps I've downloaded since changing the Apple ID email), and I've tried just skipping that step in the restore process, but then it doesn't restore all of my apps.
Seems odd to me that my Apple account doesn't use some sort of unique identifier for the Apple ID accounts as a whole instead of trying to recognize purchases based on whatever email someone was using at the time.
Anyway, if anyone knows of a way to fix this, I would be forever grateful!  I just got a new device today and would love to restore from backup smoothly without losing any of my data that might be in the apps attached to that old Apple ID email.
    Thanks!

All you need to do is restore the iphone in itunes as new
and then set up as new
    after this is done
then you can restore from itunes back up with out any error!!

  • Iphone 4 is stuck in recovery mode and gives error code 2001 when trying to restore from itunes...any help?

Just downloaded the new software from itunes today for my iphone 4.  While talking on the phone while plugged into macbook (charging) my call was dropped and then my phone turned off.  Itunes now says it found my phone and it was in recovery mode and I need to restore it.  When I try to do that I get an error code of (2001) and I am unable to go any further.  any help from anyone please?  Thanks.  Ben

    Thats okay
Are you using a Mac or PC? The step about ports, it not really relative to your issue (error 2001)
    Apple wrote (in TS1275)
(2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, and so on) If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. Learn how to reset the SMC. If you are using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. If that does not resolve, try the USB issue-resolution steps and articles listed for Error 1604 above. If the issue continues, it may be related to conflicting security software.
So I would try an SMC reset if you are on a Mac. But mainly, try a different USB cable if you have one.

  • HT4972 I am trying to set up my iPod Touch, and I already have backup data on iTunes. However, on my iPod Touch it says "Connect to iTunes" when I click "Restore from iTunes Backup". But even though I connect it to iTunes, it still says "Connect to iTunes

My iPod Touch just keeps saying "Connect to iTunes" when it is connected to iTunes. I've tried everything, too.

Since the maximum OS X version for an eMac is 10.5, how are you running OS X 10.7.5 on the eMac?

  • Get error 69 trying to restore from a backup CD

I have only seen this error associated with an ipod in every search I have made.  Can not contact Apple Itunes Support without a serial number... the problem is not with my ipod!!!!! It is when I try to restore from the CD's I burned!! If I "explore" the cd I can see the "music" but then if I try to open them I just get this d*mn error.  I did a clean install of WinXP after getting a wicked virus.  I have been able to import some of my music (only two cd's from 10)
So what now?? not all the music that was on the cd's were on my ipod..... *grumble grumble grumble* so what was the point of backing up???
Any Help would be appreciate and thank you for letting me vent
    Beth

Tried to post this last night but site was down.  The disks appeared clean with no scratches.  I did scan one of them with an ubuntu cd/dvd utility and there were a small amount of bad sectors.  Is there a way to import "the good" music, some work around? a file carver?  In the past I have tried to restore itunes playlists to no avail.  I really don't want to lose this music all over again.

  • When I try 'restore from iTunes Backup' for new iPhone it says the 'backup "(name)" cannot be restored to this iPhone because the software on the iPhone is too old'

I don't know how to resolve this so I can set up the phone?
It's an upgrade from 4S to 5S if that's any help and I have checked if there are any updates which have not been done on the old phone and it says there isn't.

  • Unknown error when trying to sync from itunes to ipod

Does anyone know what the problem is? Everytime I try to sync music onto my 4GB ipod nano, a message pops up saying:
Attempting to copy to the disk [ipod name] failed. An unknown error occured (-54).
I can't seem to figure out what is wrong. I restored my ipod and reset my ipod, but I still don't know what is wrong.

Thanks for you suggestion roaminggnome. I tried typing in 13019 like you said and it gave me a few options to try and fix it but none of them worked (of course). I fiddled around with it for a while some more on my own and some how got it to work again, lol. Thanks again though for offering a solution.

If you're not a developer then you really should not have upgraded.
I'm unsure how you can fix this as you have already done a back-up on iOS 7 and apple don't support firmware downgrades.
