Error when updating in iTunes

I'm getting the error code below when trying to update my iPad to iOS 5 in iTunes 10.5. I've tried several times and continue getting it. Any ideas? I did the same update to my iPhone and didn't have this issue.

  • Vista 64 bit OS - Installer error when updating to iTunes 10.5

I've tried updating iTunes via "Download Only", but when I try to run the installer (tried by clicking on Setup Admin and even the Mobile App Manager) ... the installer get's to where it appears it is about to successfully complete and then rollsback all changes and states an error is keeping it from installing and that no changes were applied.  Can anyone help me troubleshoot what is causing this?

Here's what I did...found it on another thread about this topic.  Go to Start, All Programs, Apple Software Update.  Let it update itself first.  Then ONLY update to Quicktime 7.7.  Then rerun the iTunes installation program.  That worked for me, and I was getting the exact same message as above.  I don't know if it was the Apple Software Update program or the update to Quicktime, but something fixed whatever was wrong.

  • Error when updating! Help please!!

I've been having a problem with the artwork updating on my 5th iPod. I kept getting an error when updating in iTunes whenever I added artwork to songs. So I was told to go into iTunes and go under iPod options and UNCHECK the box to display the artwork on my iPod. Then click okay. Then, go back into it and CHECK the box TO display the artwork and I get an error; "..Unknown Error occurred (-50)". Same error. And yes I have pressed the center button on my iPod to scroll through the different things. And I have restarted the program and computer. Tried disconnecting hte iPod, closing the program, restarting computer, restarting iTunes and reconnecting iPod and every combination of the steps (I've done many searches on this subject here) and same result. I've tried other different things but it all ends up to this error. Can some one please help me

    Hi Melophage,
I managed to do a OS X Recovery Reboot by restarting my computer and holding down Command and 'R'. I reinstalled OS X, and now my computer is working again.
However I'm going to take my computer into the Genius bar for review.
I have a Macbook Pro from 2012 (with a 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7 Processor) and was attempting to update OS X (I think Version 10.8.5).
    Many thanks for your message.

    1) The older version of Bonjour can not be removed. Contact your technical support group.
Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • Error when updating itunes.  now no itunes access

I get the following error when I open itunes now:
Runtime error! R6034 Please contact the application's support team for more information.
I assume that means Apple.  I tried everything mentioned on the support community and nothing helps.  Suggestions?!  I REALLY don't want to lose my music.  Well, I know I won't lose it but I would love to get more !

I'm having the same problem.  Looks like iTunes Match is broken.  It works on my iPhone, but not on either of my PCs.  I'm not sure when the problem started but I noticed it this evening.  Can't have been more than a day or 2 since I last updated Match and it worked fine. I should also add that iTunes itself is acting wonky, Sync doesn't work right, etc.  I'm sure it's all related and is a glitch in the Apple servers.  Happens every time there's a major release of iTunes.  I do wish they'd spend more time testing before they release a buggy upgrade, but alas, it never seems to be done that way.
iOS 8.1 on a 5 (no bloody C or S), iTunes 12.0.1 on a PC running Windows 7 latest version.  Problem also occurs on a PC laptop running Windows 8.1.

  • Error when updating to 4.2

My Ipod Touch is on ios 2.2.1 and always get error when updating to 4.2

I think you have a 1st Gen iPod Touch. You can only go up to iOS 2.2.1 OR you can purchased the iOS 3.1 firmware.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2052
Purchase the iOS 3.1 Software Update directly from the iTunes Store.
IF NOT, then try to get a better internet connection (if connect with Wi-Fi) or wait a while and try to reupdate again. If you have to make sure iTunes is up to date (iTunes 11.x)

  • Got error when updating to ios 5.1

got an error when updating to 5.1 and now phone will not reset. stuck on black screenwith apple on it. i have tried replugging phone into comp but it will not come up in Itunes. I am using a PC by the way.

Possible, but not 100% sealproof. -1 can happen in a variety of situations, not always jailbroken. It's a baseband error and while the risk of getting that error is higher on a non-factory unlocked device, it can still happen.
Even if OP was jailbroken and removed the jailbreak, it's quite difficult, if not impossible to tell the device has been jailbroken before if restored as brand new.
Take the device to an Apple Store for evaluation.
