Error while trying to retrieve data from BW BEx query

The following error is coming while trying to retrieve data from BW BEx query (on ODS) when the Characters are more than 50.
In BEx report there is a limitation but is it also a limitation in Webi report.
Is there any other solution for this scenario where it is possible to retrieve more than 50 Characters?
A database error occured. The database error text is: The MDX query SELECT  { [Measures].[3OD1RJNV2ZXI7XOC4CY9VXLZI], [Measures].[3P71KBWTVNGY9JTZP9FTP6RZ4], [Measures].[3OEAEUW2WTYJRE2TOD6IOFJF4] }  ON COLUMNS , NON EMPTY CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( CROSSJOIN( [ZHOST_ID2].[LEVEL01].MEMBERS, [ZHOST_ID3].[LEVEL01].MEMBERS ), [ZHOST_ID1].[LEVEL01].MEMBERS ), [ZREVENDDT__0CALDAY].[LEVEL01].MEMBERS ) ........................................................ failed to execute with the error Invalid MDX command with UNSUPPORTED: > 50 CHARACT.. (WIS 10901)

Hi,
That warning / error message will be coming from the MDX interface on the BW server.  It does not originate from BOBJ.
This question would be better asked to support component BW-BEX-OT-MDX

  • SQLException while trying to retrieve data from text file DB

    This was originally posted in the Java Fundamentals forum,
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=733857&tstart=10
    thought I might have a better chance of getting help here.
    I'm just beginning to learn JDBC stuff. I have a text file acting as my DB. So far I've been able to add rows to the table, but when I try and retrieve something from the table I get the following exception.
    java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Text Driver] The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file '(unknown)'.  It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data.That '(unknown)' bit seems suspicious, but I don't how I would correct it. My file is set up similar to the sun tutorial I'm going through, and it doesn't specifiy the file name anywhere but the SQL statement.
    All the permissions seem to be correct from what I can tell. The file isn't opened or in use anywhere else that I can see.
    I've tried googling parts of the error message, but most of the reponses are dealing with MS Access or aren't java related and so far I haven't found anything helpful.
    Below is my sample code.

                   stmt.execute(query);
              } catch(SQLException excptn) {

              } catch(SQLException excptn) {
                   System.out.println("***** SQLException - Connection Failed");
                   excptn.printStackTrace();
    }Of course you won't be able to run it unless you take the time to create a text file and set it up as a data source, which I don't expect anyone to do. I was just hoping someone more experienced than I had seen this before or could spot something in my code.
    Any help in any way would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    When you were setting up your ODBC data source for
    the Text driver, did you click on the "Options"
    button? There's a lot of options in there that I
    didn't understand at first glance.Yes I clicked on the options button, but the only thing there is dealing with file extensions. I left it set to the default.
    I have since tried closing my connection after I insert a record, I then try executeQuery, but still no luck. Seems strange that I can write to the file but not read from it. If any thing I'd expect the opposite problem.
    I have also tried using the class "JoltReport" from the sun tutorial instead of my own with the same result.

  • Error while trying to access data from virtual provider - Technical Content

    Hi,
      I am trying to install the new BI 2004s technical content.  I am done with the installation I am trying to display data for the remote cubes delivered i.e. 0TCT_VC11/21 etc. but getting an error:
    Error reading the data of InfoProvider 0TCT_VC11
    There is still no data source assigned to VirtualProvider 0TCT_VC11
    The virtual providers are of type "virtual provider based on DTP"  since standard technical content didnt have any DTPs for the VC cubes I tried to create some direct access DTPs based on datasources 0TCT_DS11 but there also getting error:
    Source doesnt support direct access
    I saw the type for datasource 0TCT_DS11 and its using SAP SAPI and not direct access and couldnt change the type actually the same datasource is also used by cube 0TCT_C11 so changing the type probably wouldnt have been a good idea.
    I found the following notes 996735 and implemented its change...but no use...
    we are on SP10 and content 7.03 SP2.  Can anybody please help??

    Hi all,
    The above mentioned solution is a good idea but in this context not appropriate as it aims at resolving an issue in the delivered Content Version of 0TCT_VC11.
    In your case, you already have 0TCT_VC11 activated and you can not read any data from this VirtualProvider in queries. Right?
    In that case, you have to:
    1. Check that the entire data flow is active for the InfoProvider (activation should occur for the MYSELF source system): 0TCT_VC11 with InfoSource 0TCT_IS11 with DataSource 0TCT_DS11
    2. Activate the direct access for the VirtualProvider (Context menu of 0TCT_VC_11 > Activate Direct Access > Source Syst. for InfoSource3.x > Mark the column with the MYSELF source system and Save).
    This corresponds to Installation "Step 5.) Activate direct access for virtual providers" that is mentioned in SAP Note 934848 "Collective note: (FAQ) BI Administration Cockpit".

  • TNS-12518 error while trying to fetch data from SQL Server

    Hi everyone,
    I'm trying to establish connectivity from Oracle 10.2 server to a SQL Server 2005. These are the server details
    DOVER - This is where I installed Oracle Gateway for SQL Server. There's already an Oracle home in this server and I have used the existing listener for the incoming connections
    LUNDY - This is where my actual Oracle server resides
    HEBRIDES - This is where SQL Server 2005 instance resides, the database name is TRACKIT90
    I've set everything as explained in Oracle documentation http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/gateways.102/b14270/ch2.htm#i1005694 but in the end I'm getting an TNS-12518: TNS:listener could not hand off client connection when I run a test query and this is what it says in the listener.log of DOVER
    01-MAR-2010 15:33:19 * (CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=tg4msql)(HS=OK)(CID=(PROGRAM=w:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\bin\ORACLE.EXE)(HOST=LUNDY)(USER=))) * (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=10.0.0.58)(PORT=3887)) * establish * tg4msql * 12518

    TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
    TNS-00530: Protocol adapter error
    32-bit Windows Error: 2: No such file or directory
    My initialization parameter under \\ORACLE_HOME\tg4msql\admin of gateway installation in DOVER is as below:
    HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO=hebrides.TRACKIT90
    HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL=OFF
    HS_FDS_RECOVERY_ACCOUNT=RECOVER
    HS_FDS_RECOVERY_PWD=RECOVER
    The listener.ora of the active listener in DOVER has the following lines, by the way this listener does not reside on the same ORACLE_HOME as the gateway's ORACLE_HOME but it is the current active listener in the server. The listener has also been stopped and started:
    LISTENER =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = dover)(PORT = 1521))
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC0))
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
    (SID_DESC =
    (SID_NAME = tg4msql)
    (ORACLE_HOME = E:\oracle\product\10.2.0\tg_1)
    (PROGRAM = tg4msql)
    The following entry has been added to the tnsnames.ora in LUNDY server where my actual Oracle database resides.
    TRACKIT_DATA =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = DOVER)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVICE_NAME = tg4msql)
    (HS = OK)
    And finally a database link is created by using the below DDL statement:
    CREATE DATABASE LINK "DLINK" CONNECT TO "username" IDENTIFIED BY "password" USING 'TRACKIT_DATA';
    When I do a select statement on one of the tables of TRACKIT database by using the following query I got the TNS-12518 error with above details
    select * from announcement@dlink;
    I would appreciate any help and also please let me know if I missed out any details.
    Thanks.

    This is the output comes with the "lsnrctl service listener" command on DOVER server

  • Error while trying to export data from Solution Manager 3.1

    Hello, when trying to export a project via SOLAR_MIGRATION in Solution Manager 3.1, I get the following error when trying to release the transport:
    COMMUNICATION_FAILURE for RFC call SCMS_CONT_EXPORT (destination SAPKPROTP): / RfcExecProg: SAP0451.
    Error in calling KPro transport server
    Has anyone experienced this or have an idea how to reslove it?  I opened a message through OSS and received this feedback:
    sapkprotp is not available for AS/400.
    In your case, sapkprotp must be started on the SAP Content Server.
    sapkprotp must then be started via a SAP Gateway connection.
    Please change the RFC destination of SAPKPROTP so that
    the program must be started on your SAP Gateway on the content server
    computer.
    We currently don't have a Content Server and I would like to be able to export this project without having to install a new application on a Windows server.  I would appreciate any insight you may have into this.  Thank you.
    ~TJ

    If you don't have one already create a gateway instance on your Content Server.
    Change or create the RFC destination :  SAPKPROTP   type = T
    Check the radio button to start on Expicit Host
    Enter the program = c:\winnt\sapkprotp.exe
    Enter target  host - use the hostname of the server for your Content Server
    Enter the Gateway information

  • Error while trying to Open and Delete a BEx Query in Query Designer.

    Hi Experts,
    I have been facing this issue with BEx Query in Designer mode for a couple of days now in Development Environment in BI 7.0.
    I would like to Delete an unwanted BEx Query because I need to give it's name to another BEx Query.
    Whenever I try to Open this Query in BEx Query Designer to Delete, it gives out an error saying:
    "An error occurred while communicating with the BI server.
    As a result of this error, the system has been
    disconnected from the BI server.
    Detailed Description:
    STOP: Program error is class SAPMSSY1 method : UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION
    STOP: System eror in program CL_RSR and form GET_CHANMID-01 - (see long text)"
    Details text is as below:
    Diagnosis
    This internal error is an intended termination resulting from a program state that is not permitted.
    Procedure
    Analyze the situation and inform SAP.
    If the termination occurred when you executed a query or Web template, or during interaction in the planning modeler, and if you can reproduce this termination, record a trace (transaction RSTT).
    For more information about recording a trace, see the documentation for the trace tool environment as well as SAP Note 899572.
    I have tried with SAP Note 899572, but still it's the same.
    Has anyone faced similar issue? Could you please let me know if you have better ideas or solution?
    Your time is much appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Arun - Thanks a million. You saved me Nine. It worked.
    Could you also please tell me how to rename (Technical) a Query or is it still "Save the Query As" the only way...?

    Hello,

    Thanks,

    Yeah, don't use readLine if you just want a single character. Actually you don't need the BufferedReader at all unless you want to do buffering for a reasoon other than to make it easy to read a line at a time. (Of course, buffering is a good thing anyway, but it's not strictly relevant to grabbing a character.)
    Re: requiring enter to be pressed, that may have a lot to do with your shell as well.
    try {
      Reader in = new InputStreamReader(System.in);
      int theChar; // you need an int because the read method returns values
                   // beyond the bits required for a char, to denote end of file
      while((theChar = in.read()) > -1) {
        System.out.println("Char read: " + (char) theChar);
      System.out.println("end of file reached");
    } catch (IOException e) {
      e.printStackTrace();

  • Error while trying to retrieve text for error ORA-12154

    Hello,
    I try to install php 5.1.2 on a WIN2003 server and IIS6 with the OCi8 extension without success from several days.
    On my server I've a 920 oracle client and the 10.1 instant client, I copy the tnsnames.ora in the instant client's directory.
    I've declare many environnement variables :
    - NLS_LANG : AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252
    - TNS_ADMIN : E:\...\oracle\instantclient_10_1
    - ORA_NLS33 : E:\..\oracle\920\ocommon\nls\ADMIN\DATA
    With the php command line the oci_connect function correctly works : the php command line use the instant client's tnsnames.ora. I can query with success my database.
    When I try to load a web php script (the same as the php command line script) I have the following error " Error while trying to retrieve text for error ORA-12154" ( oci_connect( $user , $pass, $sid ) . The $sid variable have the value of an alias declared in the tnsnames.ora.
    If I replace the sid's alias by something like this " (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=xx.xx.xx.xx)(PORT=1521)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SID=xx)" in the oci_connect function, I have another error : Error while trying to retrieve text for error ORA-12705.
    A web page with the phpinfo function displays the following messages about oci8 extension : It seems to be correct.
    oci8
    OCI8 Support enabled
    Revision $Revision: 1.269.2.8 $
    Active Persistent Connections 0
    Active Connections 0
    Temporary Lob support enabled
    Collections support enabled
    Do you have any idea ? Thanks a lot

    The web server is not seeing the Oracle environment correctly. You need to set PATH to the instant client libraries. ORA_NLS33 is not used for Oracle 10g clients. Perhaps you have some library conflict with two versions of Oracle on the machine?

    Hi,
    I guess you can try some of these:
    - Make sure you're not missing an entry inside your tnsnames.ora file. Thin driver does not require the information inside that file, as opposed to Weblogic's OCI driver. If you are able to connect to the DB using a thin driver, then the problem is most probably (WL)driver-related.
    - Make sure you've properly configured the DB user / password inside your weblogic.properties (config.xml if WL6+).
    - Make sure you're able to access all drivers and classes required (PATH, CLASSPATH, etc...)
    - Make sure the OCI driver version you are using is fully compatible with the Oracle (server) version you are pointing to.
    - Try to access the DB user through some other client (for instance, SQLPlus*).
    Hope this is of some help,
    Freddy.

  • Error while trying to retrieve reports

    Hi ,
    I am getting the below error while trying to retrieve reports.
    "5203:ADM Error proceessing results from query:The dataform grid is invalid. Verify that all members selected are in Essbase. "
    Can any one help me know the cause of this error and how to get rid of it?
    Thanks in advance

    It sounds like you have a grid (visible or hidden) with an invalid member name in it. IT could be caused by the member being hard coded into a row or column and then the member being deleted or renamed in the outline. The only way to fix it is to check each member anme in the grids and determine what changed.

    AJC MAILTRIGGER STH Error while trying to retrieve text for error ORA-03113 (DBD ERROR: OCIStmtExecute)

    An ORA-03113 error would mean that the connection to the database no longer exists so any attempt to get the error message from the the database would result in an error. I think the real issue might be why was the session interrupted.
    03113, 00000, "end-of-file on communication channel"
    Depending on the front-end tool a pointer error or failure to properly terminate a string could result in corrupting the message to Oracle.
    There have been numerous bugs over the years that have resulted in this error message being returned. I notice that the Oracle version, platform, edition, and client tool set are not mentioned in the post. All this would potentially be important information for someone to recognize what might be the problem.
    I would look very closely at the code " at hcommon.pm line 1277 "

  • Error while trying to retrieve text for error ORA-12705

    I am getting the message "Error while trying to retrieve text for error ORA-12705" when trying to connect to a remote oracle database on the network.
    I can access this database using:
    sqlplus username/password@database
    from a dos prompt.
    For some reason I can't connect when using PHP (through my local Apache2 server on Windows XP).
    'phpinfo' says oracle in enabled (installed as per: http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/notes/technote_php_instant.html), so I'm pretty sure the problem isn't with php itself.
    My guess is it's something with Apache, and maybe environment variables or user permissions or instantclient (10).
    All the folders, from instantclient to the Apache server have full permissions set for "Everyone" which I would assume includes this mysterious "nobody" user I've read about.
    As for instantclient, I have placed that "tnsnames.ora" file from the oracle server there, and that hasn't changed much.
    I've tried setting, unsetting, editing (environment variables):
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    ORACLE_HOME
    ORACLE_SID
    TNS_ADMIN
    NLS_LANG
    ORA_NLS33
    in both the system environment, and even with PHP's "putenv" function. (Note: and restarting each time I changed a system var.)
    In PHP i'm using:
    $c = oci_connect("username","pasword", "database")
    I've tried OCILogon instead of oci_connect
    For "database" I've tried:
    - using the path to the oracle db: //Oracle1/e/oracle/ora81
    - mapping the path to x: drive and using: x:/oracle/ora81
    - using the name of the database by itself
    - using the name of the database underscored with the database name
    - using "(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST = host)(PORT=1521))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVER=DEDICATED)(SERVICE_NAME=database)))"
    I have tried everything I can find from:
    the Oracle installation page: http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/notes/technote_php_instant.html
    the Oracle troubleshooting page: http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/php/htdocs/php_troubleshooting_faq.html#connect
    and these forumswith no results, just the same error.
    I have also spent about 16 hours Googling for help, and nothing.
    Can someone please tell me, what exactly does a user using:
    Windows XP
    Apache 2
    PHP
    intantclient10
    Oracle 8i (on a remote server)
    need to do to connect to Oracle before jumping off a bridge?

    Turns out Oracle was previously installed on this company laptop :(
    I deleted any 'Oracle' mention in the registry with 'regedit' (from the command line) using the Find option. Not sure if it's always a good idea to do that, but I backed up the important stuff first anyway.
    I uninstalled and reinstalled everything using the same guide mentioned above, and then it worked.
    Now I can be friends with Oracle again.
    Would be nice if the "Deinstall" removed the registry entries that caused this issue...

    The problem is solved after exprting the parameter ORACLE_SID=<database_name>
    in Weblogic startup script.

    any clues why I am getting this exception. I will send the code andthe weblogic
