Error Window in Release Version of Adobe AIR

Is there a way to turn on the error window in the release
version of Adobe AIR?
When running my AIR application from in Flex Builder I get a
window with error details when an error occures. Is there some way
to to get this window and error details when running my installed
AIR app? I have the Adobe AIR 1.1 installed. Is there another
version of Adobe AIR 1.1 which has this error window in it?

You cannot catch these errors. However, you can use the
following unsupported method with AIR 1.1 to enable debug mode for
the installed applications.
Please note that we don't promise this will work in any
future release, and it won't work if either the DRM or ELS APIs are
used by your application. Also, it has a negative impact on
performance.
To enable debug mode for installed applications: First find
the installed location of the application. Then, find the
"application.xml" file inside that directory. Create an empty file
called "debug" next to application.xml. The next time the
application is started, it will launch in debug mode, as if run
from adl.

  • Cant install or uninstall Adobe Air. Keep getting error message "This application requires a version of Adobe AIR which cannot be found"

I am running Windows 7 and use Adobe AIR for Flixster.  When I tried to open Flixster I recieved an error message saying i needed to install Adobe AIR.  I looked and saw that according to control panel, Adobe AIR is installed.  I attempted to uninstall but get this EXACT message:
"This application requires a version of Adobe AIR which cannot be found.  Please download the latest version of the runtime from http://www.adobe.com/go/getair, or contact the application author for an updated version."
I have tried going to the mentioned website but i get an error message saying installation failed and may need administrative privilages but I AM the administrator!
I then tried multiple solutions on the forums including the command prompt uninstall and still no luck.  contacted customer support who told me i can only receive assistance through these forums.
    Very frustrating.  Please Help.

I have the same issue with a customer of ours:
Try to uninstall AIR – same message.  (When I reinstall,  the install says it’s successful.) I try to run our app, same message. I downloaded another AIR app, same message – so it’s not our app it’s AIR.  We logged in as Administrator, same message.  It’s a Windows7 machine. I did a system restore to 2 days ago and started over and still the same issues. I tried running the Windows Fixit to uninstall https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/mats/program_install_and_uninstall – didn’t work.

I'm sorry you're running into installation issues with AIR.  Microsoft has released a utility that can help resolve installation problems.  Would you mind giving this a try and let us know how it works for you?  When running the Fix it, go through the uninstall process and try to remove Adobe AIR from your system.  Once finished, download the latest version of AIR and install again.

Another alternative is to create a new, temporary user account and install AIR from there.  Once installed, go back to your normal account and try running your AIR app again.

  • Tried to install latest version of adobe air using file hippo, this didn't work so uninstalled adobe air in the hope of reinstalling but this didn't work either.

    Hi,
I tried to install an update for adobe air 11 yesterday, at the end of the process I got the message "An error occurred while installing Adobe AIR. Installation may not be allowed by your administrator. Please contact your administrator."
After I click close, Windows Program Compatability Assistant opens saying "This program might not have installed correctly" and offers to "Reinstall using recommended settings".
When I click on "Reinstall using recommended settings", the same message comes up about the error and contact the administrator.
I use Google chrome and FileHippo update checker, I have also uninstalled the version of adobe air that was on my computer in the hope I could install the current version but unfortunately the error message is all I get.
If you need any further information I will be happy to help, although I have forgotten how to do a screenshot.
    Regards,
    Helen Smith.

A reply to myself! Thanks to Adobe support I needed to update the Adobe Applications Manager to the Creative Cloud App which so far appears to have fixed the problem

  • I have the latest version of Adobe AIR but...

Hello I was wondering if there is a solution to this problem because I really need help. So I downloaded a program off the internet and when I tryed to open it a message appeared saying the following This application requires a version of Adobe AIR that cannot be found. At this time I didnt have AIR nor did I know what it was but I went ahead and downloaded the latest version 3.7. With this out of the way I went back to the program and tryed again but the same message appeared! Please Help!

I am having the same issue.  I get the same error when I even try to uninstall it to attempt a second installation

  • AIR 4.0 captive runtime won't run: "requires a version of Adobe AIR" alert

I'm creating an AIR captive runtime application, and it won't run on a target Windows* machine. It displays the following alert instead:
This application requires a version of Adobe AIR which cannot be found. Please download the latest version of this runtime from http://www.adobe.com/go/getair, or contact the application author for an updated version.
How can I package the captive runtime differently so it won't display this message? The application is a pure ActionScript app compiled with the adt binary from the standalone SDK (this is not Flex).
In addition, I'm disturbed that a captive runtime AIR application pings Adobe in any way. I am seeing occasional pings to an adobe site upon launch of the app (something like airdownload2.adobe.com, if I remember correctly). No I'm not using any service calls in my app at this point in development, it's very simple, and should not be pinging the net at all. Why is this happening? I need to disable this too.
    * Problem occurring only on a particular Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit machine. Unfortunately, this is the end client's machine so I can't tinker with it.

Do you have access to the problematic machine? If so, maybe you could try to install Sysinternal's Process Monitor http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645
Run the tool, create filter to see just events containing your app name and try to find in the result any issue... you could also compare the log with same log from not problematic machine or with app made with older SDK which was working.
That's all what I can do... it's a shame that nobody from Adobe is interested yet... maybe you could also submit a bug.

  • Android: This app requires a newer version of Adobe AIR - update now?

Trying to run an app on the Emulator for Android:

This app requires a newer version of Adobe AIR - update Adobe AIR now?
of course when I do click on the Update button - nothing happens, it just goes back to the main screen of the Emulator.
How do I update it. I now know how to install Adobe AIR runtime into the Emulator, but I can't find how one updates it?

  • Pls install latest version of Adobe AIR-something went wrong

When I try to open an episode in Photoshop CS5 Feature Tour () http://tv.adobe.com/watch/photoshop-cs5-feature-tour/terry-whites-favorite-things-about-cs 5-design-premium/) an AIR error message pops up saying:
Something went wrong trying to install this application. Please install the latest version of Adobe AIR from http://www.adobe.com/go/getair and then try again.
I have downloaded the program from that site, uninstalled AIR and reinstalled the downloaded version to no avail. It just keeps popping up. I click OK on the pop-up error message and the video plays just fine. But it is an annoying pop-up that just won't go away.
    What gives.

No, I bloody hate that feature of Vista and turned it off long ago!
I think you’re on the money with the permissions thing because the digging around on the net, which I read seems to points to that.
But as I say there is loads of conjuncture and advice but no solutions

  • How can I get serial numbers or the free versions of Adobe, Air, Flash Player 14, and Reader XI Pro

How can I get serial numbers or the free versions of Adobe, Air, Flash Player 14, and Reader XI Pro that I had installed on my computer before Microsoft crashed my computer and I had to do a fresh install? I finished reinstalling Win 8.1Pro on my computer thanks to Microsoft Lvl 1 Techies corrupting my Command Structure so nothing would work. I had recently taken a picture of my installed programs (control panel, uninstall programs list) so that I would be able to reinstall everything I needed. I can't seem to find an email for the Reader which I remember paying for, the others I believe were free installs. Can anyone help me out.

Safari Version 5.0.5  <  from your first post
5.0.5 is an outdated version of Safari.
There is an update available for Safari for version 5.1.1
    That may help.
Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen the click Software Update
Restart your Mac after the updates are installed.
    Try full screen ...
If you have problems using Software Update from the menu you can use the standalone installer here >  Safari 5.1.1

    Hi Praful
I believe what is meant is a context sensitive call. Perhaps
one is on the Save As dialog of their application. They desire to
press F1 and have the page explaining this dialog display in the
AIR help instead of the default start page.
