Errors on Netra X1
I am geting the below errors in /var/adm/messages on a Netra X1. I believe that they have someting to do with the system ethernet drivers as there is a package installed called SUNWdmfex which is Sun Davicom 10/100Mb Ethenet Drivers (64-bit) Anyone have any ideas?

I'm planning on driving down to the server and simply trying a few things to see if anything looks like its going to work. Is there any way to determine ahead of time if it can be booted from USB, and if not, how would I go about attempting to boot it from a USB drive once I'm there? Something like 'boot /dev/sdb' from the ok prompt in lom? I'm going to take an old IDE CDROM there as well, how would I get it to boot from that?
At this point its looking like this thing may become a fancy paperweight. I don't understand the design decision to not at least put a CD/DVD ROM in it.

Solaris 8 on netra T1 error - drive not ready
Hi I am hoping someone can help shed light on a problem we have encountered. I inherited a couple of very old netra t1 with solaris 8 on them. We had a major power outage whcih resulted in an issue with this server coming backup. On first looking at it i was able to get into the server via lom command prompt, i ran the power down command to gracefully shutdown and reboot but on starting backup the server is reporting 'drive not ready' and just hangs at this point.
apologies but i am a solaris novice, any help would be much appreciated. I am hoping this is something trivial....
thanks.Just to update we suffered another power outage and returned to look at hte server to find different error messages appearing, this time the server was giving me the option to try and boot or go into single user mode, which i did and ran the metastat and got the following:-

Network Booting Solaris 10 on Netra T4 - scratch memory overflow error
Hi,
I recently got a hold of a Netra T4 server, and am now trying to install Solaris 10 on it. Since the server can DVD-driveless, I had to resort to booting it over the network from a boot server. I have progressed through a series of errors, from not configuring the NFS correctly, to making sure the RARP was on as well.
The current issue that I am having is when i start the boot (boot net -v install), it begins to load the image, and then haults when it reaches:
Rebooting with command: boot net -v install
Boot device: /pci@8,700000/network@5,1: File and args: -v install

I'm not exactly sure why this is occuring, or what I can do to resolve this. Has anyone else come across this scenario? Judging from google searches, I haven't found anything that can help me fix this. Hopefully someone can.
Thanks a ton,
Kyleas well, I have tried using various directories to install from, all coming to the same result.

Boot image does not exist and cannot read disk label errors.
Hi - I'm having a problem with installing Solaris 9 4/04 on a Netra T1. The Netra already has Solaris 7. I need to get this set up as a jumpstart server but it can't find the boot image. I'm using a brand new bonafide installation disk - not a copy. The system won't let me install/upgrade to Solaris 9 either. I get an error stating that disk label can't be read. I've tried swapping out the CDROM but I still get the same errors. Does anyone know what or why this may be happening? (Oh - and another strange thing - like I said the CDs are the original but there doesn't appear to be a cdrom/cdrom0/s0 directory. The directory I see is cdrom/cdrom0/sol_9_404_sparc/Solaris_9/Tools)
ERROR: Install boot image /cdrom/sol_9_404_sparc/Solaris_9/Tools/Boot does not exist

I appreciate any help at all - is there anyone out there who can tell me what I may be doing wrong?
ThanksHi check that you are booting of the right cd. Make sure it is soalris 9 software 1/2 if that fails then it may well be that your cd is buggered. most likely it is buggered it it cant find the boot image.

Installation failed when using Jumpstart Server to install SUN Netra T1 200
I have a problem to install a couple of Sun Netra T1 200 Servers with a Jumpstart Server. The Jumpstart Server is set up and I have executed the add_install_client Script. If I boot the Server which should to be installed the server crashes after getting the assigned IP-Address with a software fault.
Attached i will sent the Jumpstart-Client-Output and the config Files of the Jumpstart-Server.

It seems to me that you have not created a proper sysidcfg file. From your post, it looks to me like your sysidcfg contains no entries. This is why it prompts you to enter the kernel path. Look on docs.sun.com for a guide to creating the sysidcfg file . -
Weblogic run Error on Solaris~~~ Please Help
I have a Bizzare error and dont know how to solve it.
I have set-up one Sun Netra T-1 with a product called Cisco ACS
(Advanced Cisco Secure). This comes bundled with weblogic to interface
it with Oracle database.
Setup as follows:
Sun Netra T-1, Solaris 8 (possiably 01/00 release but dont know how to
check), Oracle 8i client 8.1.6 along with Cisco ACS 2.3.6 (which
includes weblogic).
All works well
However, I have setup another Sun Netra T-1 (however this time its an
AC200) with Solaris 8 (02/02 release), Oracle 8i client 8.1.6 with
Cisco ACS 2.3.6.
There is a script included with ACS that allows you to execute SQL
statements from the CLI. However, on this second sun, weblogic just
hangs and waits.
The oracle client seems to work ok (I can run SQLPLUS to a Oracle
server) ie: sqlplus user/password@server-name works ok
I dont know where to star looking as boths systems are near identical.
ANY sound suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks in advanceMaybe this should help you!!!

weblogic.jdbc.connectionPool.raghuPool=\
url=jdbc:oracle:thin:@192.168.1.1:1521:ORCL,\
driver=oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver,\
initialCapacity=1,\
maxCapacity=2,\
capacityIncrement=1,\
props=user=scott;password=tiger
-STOP the server with the attached WebLogic Console. (Do not kill -9
the server... BAD BAD BAD!)
-Start the server from commandline (i.e. cd to c:\weblogic then run
startWeblogic.cmd)
-Attach your Weblogic console to your server
-Click the "DATABASE" category; expand "JDBC Connection Pools"; view
the new pool "raghuPool" (You will only see this if all the above was
correct and sucessful)
-To test this pool, go to C:\weblogic\examples\jdbc\oracle and modify
the "simpleselect.java" file
-Change the entries to have:
Driver myDriver = (Driver)
Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver").newInstance();
Connection conn = myDriver.connect("jdbc:oracle:thin:@209.157.221.36:1521:ORCL",
props);
-Change the select statement to have:
Driver myDriver = (Driver)
Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver").newInstance();
Connection conn =
myDriver.connect("jdbc:oracle:thin:@209.157.221.36:1521:ORCL", props);
-Compile this file with: javac simpleselect.java
-cd to c:\weblogic (unless you removed the package line at the top of
simpleselct.java)
-Run this file with: java examples.jdbc.oracle.simpleselect
ENTERPRISE JAVA BEANS (EJB):
-EJBObject deals with ENTITY BEANS. Extends java.rmi.Remote.
Steps of hands-on tutorial:
http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/onlineTraining/Beans/EJBTutorial/step1.html
1) Create interface Demo that extends EJBObject. (Remote)
2) Create interface DemoHome that extends EJBHome. (Home)
3) Create a class called DemoBean that implements SessionBean. (Bean)
4) Compile java files and create a Deployment Descriptor.
java weblogic.ejb.utils.DDCreator -dir ejb/demo
ejb/demo/DeploymentDescriptor.txt
5) Setup the WebLogic server (tons o' stuff there)
6) Write the DemoClient class. (or any web-based client)

Thanks in advance -
Hi ,
My jvm is getting crashed frequently with the below error log.
os name=SunOS
os version=5.10
os architecture=sparc

Can you please help me to identify this issue? Is there any known issue when using org.mozilla.javascript.Context.evaluateString from my code. Your help is highly appreciated..

Error Max no of items in FI reached during CJ88
Hi All, We are getting a similar error as above in cj88 error no F5727. The number of Fixed Assets defined in Level 1 WBS is 964. This is less than 999 so dont understand why this issue is coming. I find two other discussions in this forum: First we can use another secondary WBS to post all the cost which is not possible here as we define all fixed assets only in level 1 wbs Second we found the note 36353 is this going to help? Third we can settle cost to one single WBS only rather than all these and then transfer cost or distribute to all FXA through Asset posting. But this is also not possible as how to change the settlement rule now. All these line items are already used in previous period 12/2014 and there are no unsettled balances of previous period. Then how to remove this error? Can anybody suggest.
Hi,
Read this thread
You are not yet reached to 999 levels still it is giving an error message, strange. Can you check the settlemen rules at table level does it have more than what you see on the settlement screen. if that is the case then you delete unwanted netries from table COBRB and COBRA by using SM30.
Message no. F5727:maximum number of items reached in FI sereen MI07.
Maximum number of items in FI reached - CJ88
follow the work around suggested by Virendra. Hope that will solve your issue. if not raise OSS to SAP.

Hi all,
I am testing HA-NFS(Failover) on two node cluster. I have sun fire v240 ,e250 and Netra st a1000/d1000 storage. I have installed Solaris 10 update 6 and cluster packages on both nodes.
I have created one global file system (/dev/did/dsk/d4s7) and mounted as /global/nfs. This file system is accessible form both the nodes. I have configured ha-nfs according to the document, Sun Cluster Data Service for NFS Guide for Solaris, using command line interface.
Logical host is pinging from nfs client. I have mounted there using logical hostname. For testing purpose I have made one machine down. After this step files tem is giving I/O error (server and client). And when I run df command it is showing
df: cannot statvfs /global/nfs: I/O error.
I have configured with following commands.
#clnode status
# mkdir -p /global/nfs
# clresourcegroup create -n test1,test2 -p Pathprefix=/global/nfs rg-nfs
I have added logical hostname,ip address in /etc/hosts
I have commented hosts and rpc lines in /etc/nsswitch.conf
# clreslogicalhostname create -g rg-nfs -h ha-host-1 -N
sc_ipmp0@test1, sc_ipmp0@test2 ha-host-1
# mkdir /global/nfs/SUNW.nfs
Created one file called dfstab.user-home in /global/nfs/SUNW.nfs and that file contains follwing line
share -F nfs –o rw /global/nfs
# clresourcetype register SUNW.nfs
# clresource create -g rg-nfs -t SUNW.nfs ; user-home
# clresourcegroup online -M rg-nfs
Where I went wrong? Can any one provide document on this?
Any help..?
Thanks in advance.test1# tail -20 /var/adm/messages

Bug: Fatal error in iropt
Hi,
While compiling our code Octopus, I found a bug in the sun studio express fortran compiler (in x86 linux and sparc solaris). I made a bug report, but in that moment I wasn't able to reduce the file to a single file and in the bug report and I gave a pointer to our svn repository.
Now I was able to reduce the bug to a single subroutine and I would like to modify the report, but I couldn't find how to do it. My Review ID is 944794. Shall I submit a new bug report? As I will commit a workaround, my report will not be valid.
In any case I post here the code that triggers the bug, it appears when optimizations level is 3 or greater. The error is:
iropt: ../src/sr.c:8153: af_create_ir_node: Assertion `af->type == AF_NODE' failed.
f95: Fatal error in iropt: Aborted
subroutine sub(domain)
implicit none

no_f = 10
do ii = 1, no_f
if(domain .eq. filter_freq) then
grouplength = grouplength + 1
end if
last = i + grouplength
end do
print*, last
end subroutine subRemoving the 'last = ...' statement of the loop or removing the 'print*... ' sentence the bug dissapears.
By the way, I am quite impressed with the perfomance of the sun studio compiler. I made some preliminary tests in x86 and for our code it seems to be faster than any other compiler.Hi,
I get the problem in these two versions:

Flar create error on Solaris 8
Hello,
I am hoping someone has ran into this before, its an odd issue but I cant be the only one who has ran into it. If anyone has ran into this error would you please share on how you got past it.
I have a Solaris 8 server, 117350-43, Solaris 8 7/01 s28s_u5wos_08 SPARC, Solaris 8 Maintenance Update 5 applied, and its a Netra t105, with two drives.
I am trying to create a 13GB flar onto the second drive mounted on /mnt.
It looks like it works but then at the end, its fails with a file left on /mnt.
This is the error I end up with and the file size..

[Netra i] Install Solaris 8
Greatings.
I've got an old Netra i (sparcstation 4) from a friend of mine. Now i want to reinstall i because he foregot his password. I'v downloded Solaris 8 from this site (ofcourse the Sparc version :D )
Now he did't boot from cd-rom when i enter 'boot cdrom' I've got the message 'Can't find boot device'. Now i tried about 7 diverent cd-rom drives. One of them did a little bit more. But that cd-rom drive is not good anymore (read error's). Other driver are 100% working, but not in this machine.
Do i need a specified CD-Rom drive or settings? What could be wrong?The inquiry started over in the JDS forum, by mistake.
http://supportforum.sun.com/sjds/index.php?t=msg&th=2115
As this is typed, it seems that only the more universal type of CD drives give success. (those that understand a 512byte cluster size in the boot sector -- historically the default) -
Netra t1 105: Solaris 8 & 9 install failures
Hi Everyone,
I have two (2) Sun Netra T1 105 machines, each with a single 360MHz Ultra SPARC IIi and 256MB RAM. Both have 18.2GB drives that have been wiped clean.
I am connecting using Winblows 2000 and Hyperterminal, serial port B, 9600,8,n,1.
I want to install a fresh copy of Solaris 9 on these systems, but I am having absolutely no luck. I boot from the Solaris 9 install CD and the systems just hang. I've also tried to do network installs, and they hang as well.
I thought it might be my Solaris 9 install media, so I tried to install Solaris 8 using several different releases - 4/01, 10/01 & 2/02. Each time, I get the same result - the boxes just hang.
I make it this far (serial, MAC, and hostid x'ed out to keep our security folks happy):
Netra t1 (UltraSPARC-IIi 360MHz), No Keyboard
OpenBoot 3.10.25 ME, 256 MB memory installed, Serial #XXXXXXXX.
Ethernet address 8:0:20:XX:XX:XX, Host ID: XXXXXXXX.
ok boot cdrom
Boot device: /pci@1f,0/pci@1/pci@1/ide@e/cdrom@2:f File and args:
SunOS Release 5.9 Version Generic 64-bit
Copyright 1983-2002 Sun Microsystems, Inc. All rights reserved.
Use is subject to license terms.
And then it hangs forever. In the OBP, I've set the input and output ttys to ttyb to eliminate LOM interference.
Here is a snapshot of the printenv output:

I have the feeling I am missing something very simple, but I am at a loss. Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

Shelton, CT USAThis could be part of the problem. How exactly did you wipe the disks in the other machine, and what type of machine was it?I installed the disks into a Sun Netra T1125, partioned (using format) and newfs'd them to create basic file systems.
How about a "boot cdrom -s"? If it boots this way, does "format" see the disks ok?Tried this, same result. The systems don't make it past the licensing terms message.
As for the mini tests - I ran them against every device, and everything seems OK. The floppy test threw an error because I didn't have a floppy drive installed.
I have a 4 port QFE card installed in the machine - all of the loopback tests passed, but the transceiver tests failed. None of the ports are connected (no cables). The two built in Ethernet ports also passed loopback, and 1 passed the transceiver test (the other failed) - the transceiver that passed has a network cable installed.

Could I be experiencing problems because of the QFE card?? Doesn't seem logical, but.... perhaps I will yank it out and try again.... -
Netra T1 Automated Installation?
Hi all,
I'm going to preface this with the fact that I've never worked on a sun system before (and hopefully you'll be kind about my complete lack of knowledge.)
I've just "liberated" an old sun netra t1 (500mhz 1gb ram 2x 18.1 gb disks) from my friend's basement. What it was doing down there, neither of us had a clue, but it seemed like a good machine to put to some use.
Problem. It has no video card or any way for me to communicate with the device. I'd like to do a fresh install of solaris 10 on the machine, but lacking an easy way to install it, I was wondering if there was a way to automate an install so that I can just pop in the cds (it does have a cd drive) let it run, and then access it somehow over the network (ssh?).
I've been reading online and some places have noted that I could potentially use a sun serial cable to do this, is that accurate?
Well, those are my questions for now. :)
Thanks!
Justin

Spelling error. Opsie. :)1. ) this db25-rj45 cable.... are there different
configurations of it? I've been looking on ebay and
the sun variants seem to run about 20 dollars and the
cisco ones are like 5 dollars. The CISCO console cable 72-3383-01 has the same pinout as per the Table 6-3 Pin Cross-overs for a DB9 Adapter section of the Netra t1 User And Administration Guide ( http://www.sun.com/products-n-solutions/hardware/docs/pdf/806-4707-10.pdf ). i.e. allows direction connection from Netra RJ45 console port to a PC serial port.
>
2. ) Presumably once I have this cable then I will
need some sort of terminal application to access the
server, yes? I have a laptop running vista (cringe)
and ubuntu linux ... any suggestions for something I
could use on one of these oses?
I think any terminal emulator type should be sufficient to run the Solaris text installer over the Netra console port. The installer asks which terminal type (e.g. VT100) is in use (can't remember the supported terminal types).
Hope that helps
