Essbase start scrtipt without admin password in plain text

Hey all,
I'm securing my system and one final step is the Essbase startup script.
At present its doing:
startEssbase.sh {my_admin_password}
which isnt particularly secure.
How can I secure this so that I either don't have to have the password in plain text or the password is not passed in at all ( which normally makes it start up in foreground mode)

In the Essbase admin guide it explains how to hide the password on a Unix server. Click the link below and search for the following term, "Hiding Essbase Server Passwords". There is a sample script to secure the password.

Providing Username and Password works fine, but is there a way to make this work without the Username and Password in plain text?

An applescript application set as a user login item should be a better choice.
I'm just about to work this out for an SMB mount of a users Windows home (augmented AFP homes are breaking preventing the 'Mount UNC path' option in the AD plugin).

Can't Install Flash Player On Mac Without Admin Password

I've already posted about this, but I didn't get a meaningful answer, and another user who posted with the exact same issue was also unanswered.
My question is very simple: How do I install Flash Player on a Mac without an admin password? The downloadable installer demands one before it will do anything. When I click "show package contents" and extract the Flash installer package, open it up manually, and unzip the archive inside it, I get an unusable "Flash Player.plugin.lzma" file.
I need a way to decompress the Flash Player.plugin.lzma file.
OR
I need a link to download the Flash Player plugin, as in the actual "Flash Player.plugin" file, and NOT an installer app, which the main download link offers.
OR
An installer program that can extract and install the Flash Player file into ~/Library/Internet Plugins and do so WITHOUT demanding an admin password.

This password prompt is presented by your operating system, and is intended to keep you from accidentally installing software.
If this is your personal machine and you don't need a password to log into the computer when it first starts up, you can probably leave the password blank and click OK to get past this prompt. Installing Java SE 6 runtime without admin password

I work for a school district which uses JAMF's Casper suite to manage our Macs. We recently received a new shipment of mbp's which have been updated to 10.8.4. With Casper we are able to push out software packages without any end user involvement. This is especially convenient so we don't have to input the admin password with each install. We use a couple of Java based applications as well as Java enabled web sites for education. Problem is I can install JDK 7 Update 25.pkg which takes care of viewing webistes but when I attempt to open our Java desktop apps it asks if I want to install Java SE 6 runtime which requires an admin password. I've tried installing Java 6 from Apple's download page but when I attempt installing it says I must be running 10.6.x. Is there any way of installing runtime without an admin password and where might I find the runtime package. Sorry for the lengthy explanation. Thanks.

That is the newest Java so you shouldn't need Java SE 6.

Installing Flash Without Admin Password

I'm trying to install the flash player plugin without being required to give it an admin password.
Unfortunately, Adobe won't let me download it; the only thing they have for download is some "flash installer" application that demands an admin password.
Click show package contents on the application, open Resources, find the installer package, show that package's contents, and open up the Archive.pax.gz file; inside, is a file called Flash Player.plugin.lzma which I have no idea how to extract.
So how do I extract the flash player plugin from the lzma archive thing?
Also, does anybody know what the latest version of Flash Player is anyway? Every time I think I've found the latest version, something tells me it's out of date; does the latest version require Leopard or something?

I could use the single-user hack to gain admin access to the machine in question, but I don't think its owner would like me very much if I did that.

A second admin account lets you do what you need, but doesn't compromise their password. Let them know about it. Delete it after use.

If your login window is showing the list of users, you can find the "short name" for each such user by hovering the cursor over that user.
If that doesn't give you what you need, boot again directly from the install DVD and use it to enable and set a password for the System Administrator (root) account -- follow the prompts. Be sure the password you set is not blank. This is the super user that's built into the system independent of your dad's normal "administrator" account. Now reboot again from your hard drive. In the login window, select the "other" option that will now appear. Then login as "root" and with the password you just assigned.
At this point you can use System Preferences / Accounts to adjust the passwords and administrator access privileges of your normal accounts on the machine.
Once you have done that, log out as "root" and log back in as a normal administrator account. Now go to Applications / Utilities / Directory Utility and disable the "root" user account once again for safety.

Open app without admin password

I'm trying to set up the Wireshark application so that it can be used without an admin password. This program needs super-user access to capture network packets, but a work around is provided in the documentation here: http://wiki.wireshark.org/CaptureSetup/CapturePrivileges
I followed the steps there with ChmodBPF, and I double checked that the permission are correct.
The capture part isn't even really necessary. All I really need Wireshark to do is read previously saved session files.
The problem is that the application just won't open without an administrative password. The only information that it will give me is that the rights for the app are set to "system.privileges.admin". Is that something you can change?

With the keychain you have to associate the password with an account and I have a couple hundred accounts that need to be able to use this program with out an admin password.
I'd just like to change the permissions for the application and can't figure out how.

Factory Reset without Admin Password, MACbook Air

It depends on the person, I suppose. But ordinarily Apple is pretty supportive of authorized persons only having access to a laptop's contents when the owner has set a firmware password.
One has to understand that a firmware password's purpose is to protect. It would serve no purpose if anyone could simply ask that the protection be removed. The service to remove the protection is a benefit only afforded to legitimate owners.
The seller should have released his registration the moment it was sold. This permits YOU to then register it to yourself. You should take care of this matter before taking it in.

FTP Adapter - Avoid Password in plain text

When we configure a FTP adapter in FTP Oubound connection pool we enter password. The password is stored as plain text. It is visible to all users (even to a users who has just monitoring access). Can we have the password in protected mode.

If I understand correctly, Sonic Kaboom.swf needs to be edited in a separate Flash authoring program and then reinserted into your HTML document.
As Murray said, Flash is dead. Nobody uses it anymore. We use HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript animations which have universal support from Smartphones, Tablets and other web devices that can't support Flash. Look at Edge Animate.

Thanks its working now. I am facing another issue. I do not use parameters in my Scenario. Now when i run my scenario i m getting the following error. I think its because i have not assigned anything to the Variable element. I guess its taking null value for Variable element here and cheking if such a variable exists. By using the you don't want to store,encrypt or decryption the password. Azure AD will take care of your authentication and your app can manager the authorization.
If you are creating the any automated task (Connecting Remotely ) using Console Application , then it won't work. You need to provide the User name and password in the console window.

Cannot start Essbase once admin password is changed

I have come into an organisation where all applications were created using the default admin / password credentials. I am wanting to tighten security by changing the password of the admin account. I can do this easily in Shared Services, however when I stop and start the Essbase service, I get the following error "Essbase Product Existence Check Fails against the Shared Services Server with Error Unable to Authenticate.".
In the HSS log I get:

I have searched these forums and found threads to load Essbase service in the foreground (isnt this startEssbase.cmd?) and it says I can change the load up admin password there. However when I do that, I dont get that option.
If I change the password back to the default password, I can get Essbase back up and running no problems.
Can someone please tell me how to change the password for admin that Essbase uses to authenticate with Shared Services?

its a longshot, but stop the Essbase service, then bring Essbase up in the foreground (from a command window, type Essbase) When it opens it should prompt for the Essbase password. Put in your password (which sounds like it is password). If you type help it will show you the available commands . One of which is Password. It allows you to reset the Essbase password. Try changing it here then in shared services and see if you can connect
