Euro font in pdf file

  • Fonts in pdf files show as squares

My new lion imac renders some fonts in pdf files as squares. I trensferred applications and setting from my old snow leopard macbook which was working ok. Problem appears in preview, skim, filemaker but not in adobe reader. Seems like the lion pdf renderer is not working correctly?

It seems that the problem is with good old Helvetica. Acrobat Professional identifies the "boxed" fonts as:
    Helvetica
    Type: Type 1
    Encoding: Ansi
    Actual Font: Helvetica
    Actual Font Type: TrueType
According to FontBook, this Helvetica is installed on my system:
        PostScript name    Helvetica
        Full name    Helvetica
        Family    Helvetica
        Style    Regular
        Kind    TrueType
Language    Afrikaans, Albanian, Azerbaijani, Basque, Belarusian, Bulgarian, Catalan, Cornish, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Esperanto, Estonian, Faroese, Finnish, French, Galician, German, Greek, Hawaiian, Hungarian, Icelandic, Indonesian, Irish, Italian, Kalaallisut, Kazakh, Latvian, Lithuanian, Macedonian, Malay, Maltese, Manx, Norwegian Bokmål, Norwegian Nynorsk, Oromo, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Somali, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish, Swiss German, Turkish, Ukrainian, Uzbek, Vietnamese, Welsh, Zulu
        Version    7.0d20e1
        Location    /System/Library/Fonts/Helvetica.dfont
        Unique name    Helvetica; 7.0d20e1; 2011-04-05
Copyright    © 1990-2006 Apple Computer Inc. © 1981 Linotype AG © 1990-91 Type Solutions Inc.
Trademark    Helvetica is a registered trademark of Linotype AG
        Enabled    Yes
        Duplicate    No
        Copy protected    No
        Embeddable    Yes
        Glyph count    2.194
I guess there is a Helvetica mix-up. The PDF seems to contain a Type 1 version, which is substituted with the standard Apple system Helvetica dfont version, but they don't match.
This is indeed a long-standing problem, not really Lion specific. But I would have thought that by now it would have been solved. Why all those conflicting font formats and encodings anyway? What a mess this is!

  • Export Fonts from pdf files

Is there any way to export fonts from any pdf file?

They will export in the original size of the image, not in the size that appears. I believe that Acrobat is simply dumping the TIFF or whatever as is.

  • "Damaged" fonts in pdf file after using TouchUp Text Tool

    Hello,
I have a question regarding an issue with lost fonts in a pdf file.
The document was created in Adobe InDesign and printed to pdf.
However, after using the "TouchUp Text Tool" in order to check the font for a certain text, several attributes of the font have been damaged in the entire pdf: all characters in "small caps" have been transformed to regular.
We've had 3 cases so far.
Does anyone know how we can prevent this from happening again?
When exporting the document to pdf, all fonts were embedded, I am not sure if this can be the cause.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions!
    Paula

We are using Adobe 8 Professional.
Bill@VT, I am not sure what you are asking me
I have checked the Preferences for the pdf file and the "Use system fonts" case is checked.
When opening the pdf file, the fonts were ok, but somewhere along the process, the small caps were lost.
Maybe a print screen will be of use: the presentation above is the correct presentation (the one immediately after exporting to pdf); the presentation below is the one after all fonts were damaged.

  • Downloading fonts for .pdf file

In order to fill out a .pdf form which has descriptions in both Chinese and English I was directed to download the Asian fonts package and open the .msi file.  When I do, I get the message that the installation package could not be opened. "Contact vendor to verify that it is a valid Windows Installer Package."  I am running Windows 7 on a PC.  Since I'm not keyboarding any Chinese characters, I don't think I really need the package anyway, but I can't get past that point.
    Thanks

I tried to open the file – that’s when I got the message about the Windows installer.

  • How remove embedded font from PDF

When I print to PDF on Mac OS 10.6.8 by default embed fonts to PDF-file. It add unnecessary bites to PDF-file (the file is huge size).
How to remove this option of fonts embedding? Or how remove embedded font from PDF file?

After opening dozens and dozens of linked files,I finally found the offending "empty line of text" in one of the AI files I placed in the INDD file. Open > Select All.... then check the font panel. With mixed fonts, it was empty, but if everything was the correct font, it was filled in. It was just one AI file.
I want to thank you all for your great ideas and for sharing your experience. Onward, now.

  • Font Size is not correct in the exported PDF-File

In the Report is the Font Arial Size 8, but in the exported PDF-Fildethe size is only 7,15. The Fontsize in the PDF-File is always smaller then in the Report.
I use Crystal Report XI. With Version 9 is everythink ok.

In Crystal Reports 10 and 11, exported fonts are shrunk by 5% to avoid field truncation.
For version 11, create the following registry entry and then set the value to 1 to maintain the font size:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 11.0\Crystal Reports\Export\PDF\ForceLargerFonts
Please back-up your registry before editing.

There is a similar post just a few away from yours. I will suggest what I would try. Open your job settings file (press or print preferred to get all fonts) and then select the properties and the font tab. At your font to the always embed list and you will likely need to uncheck the subset box. Then save your job settings (give it a name that is meaningful to you, you can not use the settings file you started with as they are read only and I do not recommend changing that). Maybe that will do the job. Of course that is for the creation of the PDF, I forgot you were talking about a form. You might check the form field properties, but I suspect you have already tried that. Guess I don't play with forms enough. Others may be by to answer.

  • [CC][AS] Font errrors in pdf files exported from Indesign

    Hi,
With this post I would like to ask for some advice on a problem I'm having exporting Indesign files to PDF using Applescript.
I have a lot of Indesign documents, related to one particular client. All documents need to be exported to highres PDF using a preset.
When I export a file to PDF manually, the resulting PDF file is ok. No errors are displayed when opening the pdf-file in Acrobat (full and reader).
When I export the same file, with the same pdf preset, using a Applescript, the resulting PDF-file shows an error in Acrobat when it's opened.
The message "Cannot extract the embedded font '....' Some characters may not display or print correctly'.
I have this issue in Indesign CS 5.5, CS6 and CC. When trying it on a larger scale, 90% of all documents have this issue. When doing it manually, all resulting pdf-files are fine. I've double checked this with Enfocus Pitstop. All reports are fine.
    The Applescript code I'm using...
    tell active document
export format PDF type to myFilePath using "SheetCmyk_1v4_IND4" without showing options
    end tell
... pretty basic code ... I've tried placing it in a try/catch block, but no error or exception is trown.
The font refered to in the messagebox, varies from document to document...
All fonts are present the document. No fonts are missing. I've cleared all font caches, multiple times, with no luck. All fonts are checked and are not corrupt or damaged. The Os x version i'm using is 10.8
Does anyone have any idea on how to solve this issue?
    Thanx

    Hi,
I've did a lot of test and changing the subset settings didn't solve anything.
I was able to create a temporarily fix for the problem. Every time a file has to be processed, I quit and relaunch Indesign. By doing so, I lose 80% performance because it takes longer to quit and  relaunch the app, then to create the PDF-file. I went from a 3 second processing time, to 10 seconds, every time...
I think a cache problem could be the reason.
Does anyone know if you can clear the application cache using scripting, without quitting the Indesign app ?
    Thanx
    John

  • Font Error Message While Editing a PDF File with Acrobat XI Pro

    Hello,
I have Acrobat XI Pro running on Windows 8.1
I scanned a PDF File and then went to "Tools - Text Recognition - In This File - Edit - OutPutStyle ClearScan etc etc" and got the file into "Edit Mode".
When I replace a "number/digit", the replacement digit font is "very small" and there is a "Yellow Triangle" error message which says the following.
"The Original Font Fd 3168 is not available or can't be used in editing. Acrobat is using the font "Minion Pro" font in its place.
Anybody know how to overcome this error message/problem OR alternatively how do I change the FONT of the whole page to some other Font?
Also how do I find a "similar or equivalent font" for Fd 3168 font that Adobe Acrobat says, is not available.
    TIA

    Hi Bill.  Thanks for replying.
Unfortunately, I don't have the option of using the original DOCX file.  The author lost it, leaving only the pdf around
I'm using AA XI 11.0.06.  Upgraded this morning.  That's running on Windows 7 Ultimate 64.
I get the boundary boxes by clicking on the 'edit text and images' tool, and they appear.  Or don't in this case
I only need to change a few characters in the file.   However, even just opening up the file in AA and then saving, the "A = " "text" gets deleted.
Could it perhaps be something to do with embedded or missing maths fonts on my machine?  I mean, I don't get any warnings, just can't do anything with the A and AB italic bold text.
    Thanks!

  • When trying to upload a PDF to an interactive site I get the announcement:"The attached PDF file references a non-embedded font Tahoma. Please remove file, embed the font and reattach." How do I embed this, or in fact any other font ?

When trying to upload a PDF to an interactive site I get the announcement: "The attached PDF file references a non-embedded font Tahoma. Please remove file, embed the font and reattach."
I could not get rid of the Tahoma font in the WORD file.
How do I embed this, or in fact any other font ?

    Thank you very much !
Indeed, I was unaware of the enormous number of options that can be selected when converting a WORD file to PDF.
I went thru the settings and found the right one for embedding the fonts.
    Thanks again !

  • Editing a PDF file on Illustrator to maintain custom font from another computer

    Hello,
I am trying to edit a PDF file on Adobe Illustrator and the file has a custom font in it that I do not have saved on my computer/Adobe does not recognize.  Is there a way to save the file so that I can edit it, but so that Adobe does not replace the font with a basic font?
    I have tried:
-Opening it in AcrobatPro vs. Illustrator
-Saving the PDF (2 pages) as 2 separate JPEG files and placing them into Illustrator... That just lowers the resolution of the images and they are much lower quality/more pixelated
-Placing the PDF file in Illustrator rather than opening it in Illustrator
None of those worked, and now I am not sure what to do.
Please advice ASAP- Your help is much appreciated as I am on a time crunch!
    Thank you!

You can do it with Acrobat. Not Acrobat reader.
It is also possible with Preview.
Open the file in Preview and export it say to the Desktop.
Than open the second pdf and import the file.
Than you can delete tha parts you so not need and leave only one page.
It can be used if the pages are not too many or it will take a long time and I am not sure if it will work with big files.

  • How to save a Photoshop PDF file with fonts that can be detected in Acrobat?

We created a PDF file using Photoshop CS5, for the purpose of using it as a watermark on documents.  We saved this file as Photoshop PDF file, but for some reason the fonts cannot be detected when the file is opened in Adobe Acrobat.
We need it to be recognized by Acrobat so that we can easily add the watermark to documents on a regular basis.
Right now, Acrobat cannot detect the fonts in this file -- even though it is a basic font like Arial -- so when we add the watermark to a document, the fonts in the watermark becomes very degraded in appearance.
Any advice would be hugely appreciated!

I've tried several settings when saving as a PDF, to try to produce a file with fonts that can be detected by Acrobat.  I tried the presets listed in guide: Photoshop Help | Saving PDF files
    But none have worked.
I cannot use PNG because it is not one of the formats that Acrobat allows for a watermark.  And JPG doesn't work because I need transparency.
