Its not telling you to update your iPad, its telling you you need to download a recent version itunes on your computer.

This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

my ipad 2 used to be registered to my husbands itunes store but now he has left us and i am trying to sync it to my itunes store.
I have plugged ipad to itunes and synced it.
Apple ID on ipad is showing as mine but when i try to download apps, it says can not connect to itunes store.
i definately have wifi acess as facebook is working.

Applecare Senior Advisor Txx Bxxx (I have his contact info in an email he just sent) just confirmed with me that the problem people are having with the App Store not loading is an apple issue with there servers, ITS NOT YOUR IPAD so don't go restoring it! It's not happening to everyone however but they are looking into it, its really hit or miss.

hi i had the same problem today when i updated my itunes to latest version. however, i have just found my songs in the 'itunes media' folder. this was accessed through 'my music' then keep clicking through until you find itunes media and all my library songs were in there and i then just added these files to my library and all were restored however, i have lost all my playlists but at least my 700 songs are back. very dissapointed with apple that they have let this happen with their latest update, the previous version was miles better than this one . hope you find them. stevo

Whenever I buy something in game, it says that " can not connect to itunes store". Why???? I fill all my payment information in app Store, bt I couldnt buy any thing. Why???
Additonally, at this point I really want to talk to someone who cares about how a customer like I might feel in such a situation and when I call corporate would like to talk to someone who is interested in hearing my input as it really sucks to think I really don't feel like going to the store anymore and would rather just buy stuff on amazon or newegg these days instead;/ When I know how much i used to enjoy going into the store and getting friendly with kind staff who worked with me to get the best deal on the items I got--perhaps this was because it was at a more desperate time when Best Buys fate as a company was more precarious prior to price matching taking origin. Also, on an aside, would like to add that obviously there is always the one or two people who go out of their way to make sure you have an excellent expeirenece so I am not trying to make any sweeping generalizations here. In fact, I find the forum contributors to be among the most kind and helpful, but that might be because they don't have to deal with the now seemingly dreaded "pricematch" epidemic;D

I bought my son a 1st generation Ipod touch off of Ebay. We set it back to factory settings and downloaded the newest version of itunes. Whenever he tries to download any apps it says "can not connect to itunes" I have checked the wifi connection and that is working (he can get on safari) and we have the newest version of windows. The iPad Screen is almost square, HD TVs are rectangular so will never be full screen. When watching movies, the movies native aspect ratio will be used rather than the iPads screen aspect ratio so will look full screen if the movie is full screen, but most likely will be seen in wide screen letter box format. with black bars across the top and bottom as that what most movies from iTunes are in, format wise
