Every time I re-open Firefox, sync is unconnected?

I'll connect sync using the same username, password and sync key I got when I first got the Firefox add-on. Both in Firefox 3.6 and now in Firefox 4 every time I open Firefox, sync isn't connected.
It's quite a hassle to type in all that information every time I open Firefox just to be able to sync.

Try doing this which will set you homepage to Google.
#In the Location bar, type '''about:config '''and hit Enter
#In the filter at the top, type '''keyword.URL
#Double click it and replace the current setting with http://www.google.com/search?q= (''it has to entered exactly as you see it written here'')
Since it's a URL, you can right click the link and choose "Copy Link Location" to copy it to the Windows clipboard. Then hit CTRL+V to paste it. Saves you having to type it when you go to change the setting.
Then go to File | Exit.
Finally, restart Firefox and see if the problem has been resolved or not.
If it has, repeat the same steps, but substitute the Google URL for your desired homepage.

Probably caused by an incompatible extension that you have installed. You need to figure out which one is throwing that error and disable it until the developer of that extension fixes it.

• How can I stop Firefox from re-setting its internet connection configuration every time I re-open the browser? It should stay at "no proxy" but doesn't.

In the past couple of days, every time I close Firefox 8.0, it re-sets the internet configuration to "manual configuration" -- which generates a "proxy server refusing connections" error message. I have to re-set to "no proxy" every time I re-open the browser. This never happened before yesterday. What can I do to make the "no proxy" setting an automatic default on opening? ISP is Verizon high-speed.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

• Flash Player Crashing every time it is opened

About a week ago I decided to remove the trial version of PSE from my computer. The trial period was over and to be honest I like Gimp much, much better (even more so now given all the problems I have encountered this past week.) I had a very difficult time getting PSE removed from my computer; even running my system as an administrator with full permissions granted, I kept getting the message that I did not have permission to change this file, it required an administrator. WTF big time! I contacted tech support to find out why I was having this problem, but unfortunately poor Gilligan was so lost all he could do was imply that I must be lying. Yes, that actually happened folks. I asked to be connected to a higher level and was supplied with a dead link. I finally got this Adobe crapware off my computer using brute force-yes Virginia, I did try using uninstall utilities of several flavors. There was no uninstall feature with the PSE software which led Gilligan to tell me I did not know what I was doing or talking about; I don't work for Adobe so I do know a little bit about what I am doing, sorry Gilligan. In cleaning the registery I was shocked to see what Adobe had placed in my system and even more shocked to see where it had been placed; why does Adobe feel the need to hide data miners in their crapware?
Since this issue with PSE, Flash Player has completely stopped functioning; prior to this everything functioned flawlessly. However, now every time I encounter flash content on a web page I am greeted by that familiar greyed out message, "Adobe Flash Player has crashed, send an error reort." I am not exagerating when I say that I have submitted well in excess of 100 error reports just in the past day alone. I have uninstalled and reinstaled new copies of Flash Player several times now, the latest version, 11 I think it was, as well as some of the archived older versions; after every install I have been directed to an Adobe web page telling me that Flash has been properly installed. My drivers are up to date on EVERYTHING, I utilize a utility that checks for updates regularly. I am running Windows 7 in a 64 bit environment (and yes I know for a fact that it is 64bit as I installed the 64 bit OS, and have verified it.) Using the latest version of IE, 9.0.8112.16421 (both 32 and 64 bit versions), when Flash Player crashes so does IE, every time. I open a web page containing flash content and poof, adobe error message followed by the IE error message, "something has caused IE to stop working properly." Using the most current version of FF, 8.0.1, this happens about 50% of the time and wipes my RAM completely clean clean when it crashes. I have removed everything branded as Adobe from my computer, and attempted starting from scratch. The only option I know of that is left is to wipe the drive clean and reinstall everything from scratch (yes Gilligan, that really is the only thing that has yet to be tried that I personally know of.)
So do I just give up and resign myself to never again see an online video until web developers realize just how crappy Adobe software has become and cleanse the web of flash and all things Adobe?? Or is there by some slim chance someone out there that has found a work around? What would really be nice is to have an alternative to Adobe Flash; I guess this shows why monopolies are a very bad thing as it allows for this sort of crap (trust me, I want to say so much worse right now, I really have come to despise Adobe) to go unchecked as long as they can turn a profit. So, any suggestions????

I dont know what's happening, Abode crashes all the time. I installed the latest version of Java, Mozilla, all updates on windows XP. Ca you help me?

• Why do I have to sign in on Iprism every time I turn on Firefox

I have to change my password each month. I change it on Firefox but the "remember pasword" window appears for only 1 second AFTER the Iprism Authenticate screen apears (which is every time I turn on Firefox).

Did you check if there still is a key icon on the left hand side of the location bar to reopen the remember pop-up?
If the pop-up doesn't stay open then try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

• Hi when i click on mozilla firefox it keeps coming up saying restore session why is this every time i go on firefox how can i stop this and delete it all together

hi when i click on mozilla firefox it keeps coming up saying restore session why is this every time i go on firefox how can i stop this and delete it all together

When you quit firefox with tabs and windows open it "remembers".  When you start Firefox it tries to restore the tabs and windows you had open.
You may also want to check the preferences for Firefox:

• 1. What's the difference between private mode in Safari which i have to turn on every time again when opening safari. It's a two click activity which i would love to be able to set in the preference as default.

1. What's the difference between private mode in Safari which i have to turn on every time again when opening safari.
It's a two click activity which i would love to be able to set in the preference as default. It's tyering when have to do it everyday a few times. (Yes, i'm one of many who have the "i like safari but since the update crash everyday a few times" syndrome...
Yes, i have updated my system.
Yes, i have repared disk permissions with disk utility.
Am open for any other help in both cases. Thank you upfront
2. and the "tell websites not to track me" under Safari - Preference - Privacy.

That box should prevent websites using trackers to log your movements on the Web to benefit advertisers. I have no idea if it does.
Safari can keep your browsing history private. When you turn on private browsing, Safari doesn’t remember the pages you visit, your search history, or your AutoFill information, so your partner cannot see where you have been, but you must also remember to also turn off acceptance of cookies.
In all other respects Private Browsing is not as private as you might think:
http://www.switchingtomac.com/tutorials/how-to-make-safaris-private-browsing-fea ture-actually-private/
http://www.insanely-great.com/news.php?id=9054
and then Apple's own advice from here: http://www.apple.com/pro/tips/privacy_safari.html
"Note that the Private Browsing option does not prevent Safari from collecting cookies (the preference files automatically generated by many websites). The Reset Safari option clears all cookies. If you want to delete only certain ones, choose Preferences from the Safari menu, click the Security tab, and then click Show Cookies. You can select and delete individual cookies from the list that appears. Careful, though — if you’re a frequent web user, this list can be very, very long."
which is itself incomplete, the relevant part being 'If you want to delete only certain ones.
To that end it is useful to have Safari Cookies installed, which is the only cookie manager available for Safari:
http://sweetpproductions.com/safaricookies/
which automatically deletes all cookies not marked as 'favourites' when closing Safari. It does the same for Flash Cookies, but they are subject for themselves:
From this website:
http://machacks.tv/2009/01/27/flushapp-flash-cookie-removal-tool-for-os-x/
For those who do not know about Flash cookies, more properly referred to as Local Shared Objects (LSO), they operate in a similar way to regular browser cookies but are stored outside the purview of your browser, meaning you cannot delete them from within your browser, whether Safari, Firefox, Opera or any other. Typically they are issued from sites or 3rd party sites that contain Adobe Flash content. Since virtually all internet advertising is  delivered in Flash, Google/Doudleclick and all other internet advertising companies are sure to be tracking your browsing behavior with Flash cookies. These companies can see you traverse the Internet as you come upon the plethora of sites that contain their embedded advertising. Check out the Wikipedia entry here.
In Mac OS X they are stored in the following location:
/User’s Home Folder/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player/#SharedObjects
The settings for the Flash cookies are stored in:
/User’s Home Folder/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player/macromedia.com/support/flashplayer/sys
In OS X Local Shared Objects, or Flash Cookies, are appended with a .sol suffix. Flush deletes all the Flash cookies (.sol) and their settings.
Flush can be downloaded from that page.
If you want to retain certain Flash cookies but not others, the excellent add-on for Safari called SafariCookies now includes a setting for automatically deleting flash cookies you don't want to retain, when Safari is shut down, in the same as it deals with ordinary cookies:
http://www.sweetpproductions.com/safaricookies/index.htm
which not only does that but much more equally useful stuff!
This article covers the issue in more depth:
http://www.wired.com/epicenter/2009/08/you-deleted-your-cookies-think-again/
Flash cookies are also known as 'Zombie Cookies' and are used by a number of firms, including Hulu, MTV, and Myspace. Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant at the internet security firm Sophos, told BBC News that the source of the trouble was Adobe Flash itself, which he called "one of the weirdest programs on the planet".
"I think it's highly unlikely that these large companies have abused Flash cookies - which are different from browser cookies - with malicious intent," he said.
"I think it's much more likely that the vast majority of users are simply oblivious to the bizarre way in which Adobe allows them to configure the software."
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-10787882
And a more recent article:
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/21/technology/21cookie.html?_r=3&scp=1&sq=flash&s t=cse
Tracker cookies and the invisible web:
– tags, web bugs, pixels and beacons that are included on web pages in order to get an idea of your online behavior.
Ghostery tracks the trackers and gives you a roll-call of the ad networks, behavioral data providers, web publishers, and other companies interested in your activity.
http://www.ghostery.com/about
This provides an extension to Safari (also available for other browsers) that shows you what data tracking is active on each web page you visit, and enables you to block them.

• Every time I start up Firefox, it always prompts me to reisntall the same pile of add-ons and extentions; I install them; still happens; why?

Regarding Firefox 16.0.2. Every time I start up Firefox, especially after a period with my comp in standby mode, I am always asked to install several add-ons and extentions. Always the same ones, and always several. I install them, again and again, yet I am still always prompted to reinstall every time I start Firefox. I've always had this batch installed, but I don't know why it keeps telling me to reinstall them.

Some security software has virtualization or sandbox features that may cause problems by protecting and restoring files in the Firefox profile folder.
It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the files extensions.* (e.g. extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini, extensions.cache) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.
New files will be created when required.
See "Corrupt extension files":
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Unable+to+install+add-ons
If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left side of the Search Bar (or click the "Find Updates" button in older Firefox versions) to check if there is a compatibility update available.
If this hasn't helped then also try to delete the addons.sqlite file.
If you do not keep changes after a restart then also see:

• Every time I start up Firefox, it checks for plugin updates. All my plugins are up to date, but it continues to load the plugin site. How do I make it stop?

Starting on Fri. 6/10/11, every time I start up Firefox 3.6.17, it loads the plugin update site. Initially, it said my Adobe reader plugin was out of date. Therefore I updated that plugin, yet that did not fix the problem. So I was finally forced to disable the plugin. After doing this, the plugin updates check still runs every time I start FF. However, they all come back up to date.
So my question is how do you make this plugin update check stop running. I had made no changes to firefox prior to this.

There's a fault with the blocklist.xml file which was updated on Friday, it should be fixed on Monday and you should get the updated file on Monday or Tuesday.

Jodie84,
I have just checked your account and found that you indeed have bought a Creative Cloud for Teams subscription but you have assigned the single seat to another user hence you ( If you are using your own Adobe ID ) are getting the trial error message.
Two options : Either reassign the seat to your self or add an additional seat and invite your self in the same Team.
