That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

Okay, can you reply letting me know if the computer was purchased used?, this will help as it would identify the possibility that the prior owner did indeed create some sort of block.
Next, what you are speaking about blocks in regards to downloading 'PDF software'...is it PDF 'software' or PDF files that are blocked?, it appears that maybe it's the PDF files which are blocked at which case it indeed my be programmed into the system.
Please answer these and we can further assist you in reaching an answer. As for this list you have provided, I would need more than simple bullets....if you can provide the location of these 'bullets' and file extension...that would get the ball rolling.

Every time I try to download something Safari closes itself. What could be the problem?
Try troubleshooting extensions and third party plug-ins.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect: Allow plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

How do I delete a credit card from my iTunes account without adding another one? My friend bought an app with her credit card and I no longer have the info but every time I try to download a free app (ex: Instagram, Twitter, vine etc.) it ask for the credit cards security code. If None is not available - On your computer launch iTunes and click "iTunes Store" in the left navigation pane. Click the "down arrow" next to your name at the top right side of the page and click "Account." Enter your username and password and click "View Account" to log into your account information. Next to your Payment Type, click "Edit." Select the "None" button and click "Done." Confirm that your card has been removed by returning to the Apple account information screen. Under Payment Type, it should say that there is no credit card on file.

The installation cannot continue. log on as administrator or contact your system administrator.. retry or cancel and it doesn't le me go forward than this I have already contact HP and we fixed it I mean we installed iTunes 64 bit, but the minute I put my iPhone to sink it it says that I dont have the new version of iTunes whici I've just already installed..this problem has been like this for more that 3 months I need an assitance because my phone really needs to be sink because it is acting weard and slow... Other than that my husband and I are thinking seriously change our iPHONE 4S for samsung phones with less probles instead of buying the new iPhone 5 because of this dull reason...Thank you for your help!

I have a song that I purchased from Itunes on my Iphone and there was an error downloading. Every time i try to download it times out and says to try again. I have tried several times and still get same message. Help? I have been charged for this song but have not been able to download.
