Every time I try to download the new version of Adobe Flash Player it saves as a .txt file and I do not know how to get it to save in the correct format.

Assuming Allan's advice is not correct, and you do run the installer, I think I've heard of that problem and it involves removing the old Flash plug-ins, then install the new version. I don't use it so I don't know what they are called, but will be the /Library/Internet Plug-ins folder.
You can go here and enable HTML5 in YouTube so you don't have to use Flash: http://www.youtube.com/html5
Most(?) of the content is HTML5, but you may run into videos where you still need Flash.

You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. Note that version 10,1,102,64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users*. The latest version, 10.2.152.25, 10.3.x beta, or later, is for Intel Macs only, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform. Version 11.0.1.152 is for Lion.

You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):

and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

I finally figured it out. Flash Player had not installed. I had to de-activate Active-X thru the safety tab on the menu bar and then download the Adobe Flash Player and now it's working. I re-activated Active X after I finished installing Flash,. Hope fully everything will keep working fine!

hi i have noticed the same problem. also with Chrome and FP ver 11.5.31.2and Firefox and Safari with FP 11.5.502.110
it seems that MovieClipLoader class not returning onLoadInit event. I use to add a fadein function on loadInit to fade in the loaded images. with the latest Flash PLayer versions this is not activated so you cannot see the loaded images.
I have tested this on 3 different systems and the problem is the same. I have not updated my FP for IE. There, the older FP still works well.

You are downloading the Flash installer, which I think itself downloads another installer, which may again download something else that has to run. Adobe's installer is one of the worst pieces of software on the PLANET.
That said, the problem is that you are not actually running the installer and letting it update Flash. Doing so will force you to quit Safari in the process.
Go look for whatever Adobe downloaded to your Downloads folder and run it.

It could be a coincidence but when I upgraded to the latest version of Adobe Flash Player 11.3.300.262 I can't seem to play any games on Yahoo Messenger with my friends. I know when I updated for some reason I had to try 3 times before it took it. It shows it's updated. I'm wondering if I have to un-install and re-install it. Also, I never use Internet Explorer 8 but when I went in there to check I found a plug in check link there and it showed over there that Adobe Flash Player needed updating but it was an older version and not the one Foxfire had me update too. Now I'm really confused if this is causing a problem. I have never had to check Internet Explorer for plug ins before. Have always just updated in Foxfire since that's what I use. The Adobe Flash Player seems to play videos okay so not really sure if that's the issue or not. My Java plug-ins have been fine and have been updated awhile ago, so I know it's not that. Everything else had been fine just that. I can only figure it was because it was having a hard time updating the first time and took me 3 tries. So even though it said it was installed, apparently it wasn't done correctly.
Though when I couldn't figure out what was wrong at first I looked and checked to see all the things were enabled that were supposed to be and they were.
I even tried to go to the Adobe site and download the last version I had and couldn't find it. Kept coming up with the new version. Others said if you download a particular older version it may not have all the security features in it.
This really gets to be a bit much, especially when you're by yourself and have only a smattering of knowledge of technical things.

I keep getting a message to downlod an updated version of Adobe Flash Player. I also received a notice to change my password because of phishing problems. I changed my password but should I download the different Flash Player or is that phishing also?

Find the ADDRESS box at the top left corner of your browser ( where http://forums.adobe.com appears ). On the far right side of the ADDRESS box is a clockwise circular arrow that will REFRESH your current web page. Immediately to the left of the REFRESH arrow is a small circle with a diagonal line thru it ( the universal symbol for negation as in the traffic sign NO LEFT TURN ). Left click on the small circle and then click on the TURN OFF ACTIVE X FILTERING button that appears in the drop down box.
Flash Player is probably already properly installed on your computer. Internet Explorer ( your browser ) just blocks certain TYPES of content as potentially harmful and when it does, ABC.com ( for example ) thinks you don't have Flash Player installed and offers a way for you to install it. You don not want to turn off Active X filtering using the tools menu because that will make you vulnerable to malicious applets that the filter was constructed to protect against.

Help-Why is the new version of Adobe Flash Player not working?

I recently restored my PC to a date of about a 2 months earlier and when Adobe updated to the new version it stopped working. when I try to play any games or look at any videos that require Flash Player it says needs to update your version of Flash. I have updated it twice and then uninstalled and downloaded it again and restarted my PC. Still no luck. I am a dummy when it comes to computers so if you have any suggestions please explain them in dummy terms! I appreciate any help!!!!

Everytime I load chatroulette it says that Adobe Flash Player has crashed, when on omegle and I click the video tab it says that it crashes. However my Flash Player works for games on facebook. I know it's the most recent version as I needed to get the latest version to play a game on facebook.

I am using WINDOWS XP 2002 version. The IE that I use is Mozilla Firefox. I get to a screen with a box that says DOWNLOAD NOW. I click on that, and a dialog box opens up with "You have chosen to open INSTALL_FLASH_PLAYER.EXE which is a: Binary File from: http://fpdownload.abode.com Would you like to save this file? SAVE FILE CANCEL." I click on SAVE FILE. A new dialog box opens with INSTAL_FLASH_PALYER.EXE. I click on this, and it looks like something is opening, but then nothing happens.

You need to Uninstall the version of Flash Player :
Download and SAVE it to your Desktop:

Use the Administrator Account, Close all browser windows, disable any instant messenger service in the system tray(area near the clock)
Disable Norton
Run the Uninstaller and then Reboot(restart) your computer.
Check to make sure Norton is still Disabled.
Run the Installer and then Reboot your computer.
