Every time I try to upgrade Firefox, I get a message that I'm not eligible to do that. Mac 10.5.8

I am currently running Firefox 3.5.3 and when I try to upgrade, the message is that I'm not eligible to install the new version. I've tried Firefox 5 and Firefox 6. Would 4 work for me? And where do I find it?

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop

*Trash the current Firefox application (e.g. open the Applications folder in the Finder and drag the Firefox application to the Trash) to do a clean (re-)install

Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data if you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.

Acrobate downloaded successfully. no problem there. but it won't open. only gives me the error message that trial has expired and do I want to buy it. i already bought it so... i'm stuck. Is it giving you any option to sign in or license this software. If yes click on sign in/License this software to proceed further and activate it. If it is perpetual license activate by entering your serial key and signing in and if it is a subscription then just sign in with your Adobe it an dit will get activated.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

The file will download approximately 40% and then I get an error message that says the file is corrupt and the download window closes automatically. In addition, I have had this trouble with two separate computers using two different operating systems.

Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the <u>Desktop</u>.

Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

You might want to try downloading Reader 11 from : https://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
Also try from a different browser and check.

Do you have any previous versions of Adobe Reader installed?
Usually newer version of Reader removes the older version of Reader during installation.
You might want to run the Cleaner tool ( http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html )to try remove the existing installation and then try downloading it.
Further you might also want to check the install a new Admin account as 'internal errors' are ususally caused due to insuffcient user permissions.

Suddenly every time I try to open firefox, I get this error: TypeError: Components.classes[cid_siterank] is undefined

it will load after I x it out, but when I open hotmail, it loads, and reloads, and acts as though it has a virus. in the address bar a message keeps flashing saying something about javascript. I've tried everything.

cor-el is correct. I confirmed this myself. Has nothing to do with Add-ons. It happened on a brand new laptop with no add-ons installed.
It is a bug that needs to be squashed ASAP.
